I'm doing good. The episode of our last night got
similar poll results on our polls at PW Torch and
your website, Pro wrestling dot Net last night as the
week before. Are you on board with your readers at
last night's show deserves a similar rating.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
I thought it was a pretty slow show coming out
of a pay per view, so I'm kind of in
the CC minus range. I didn't think it was disaster,
but I was hoping for more. I really expected them
to come out guns of blazing here after the recent ratings,
and it just was kind of a pretty basic three
hour show without really a whole lot going on.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
What you think of their decision to not mention Sting
or did I miss it? Did they bring Sting's medical
situation up.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
No, to the best of my knowledge, No, they went
out of their way to show still shots that did
not include Sting. It has to be the first time
that a guy has main event did at WWE pay
per view one night and was not mentioned the next.
It was bizarre.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
It was bizarre. So I'm not sure if there's something
else going on with that where WWB felt that they
didn't want to draw attention to the situation, I'm yeah,
I just have no idea. I'm kind of I mean,
I can understand business wise they might think, well, and
I'm not agreeing with it, but I could understand their rationale,
or at least conceive of a rationale that would be like, well,

(04:42):
that was probably Sting's last match ever because he's got
a neck injury, so we're just not going to draw
attention to him because we want to focus on big
show against brock Lesner and what's next for Seth Rollins,
and obviously the Cane storyline. But yeah, I just I
think it diminishes a pay per view when you have
a main event and the next night it's so not
newsworthy you're not even talking about it. I just, I mean,
part of me just has to ask. I wonder if

(05:03):
lawyer said don't talk about it, because could there be
something going on Legally? I can't imagine what it would be,
but it just felt so peculiar to get through three
hours and ten minutes and not hear him mention. Like
you said, it's just almost unprecedented, if not unprecedented.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
You know. That's my thought is that there's more to
this story, and I don't know exactly what that would
be either. Just looking I mean, it's still the story
on their website just says that he sustained an injury
on Sunday reportedly, I should add so staying an injury
on Sunday night and check back for more details. I mean,
this was up yesterday and so it's still there today,

(05:37):
and I mean that's the only mention of sting. He's
still on the roster page. There hasn't been any update
from Sting's manager since yesterday either, so it's just very
strange circumstances with him almost seemingly them going out of
their way to not mention or show him on last
night's television show.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Do you think we've seen the last of Sting in WWE,
or at least in the ring wrestling.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
I would think in the ring wrestling it's probably over.
I still think that he will be inducted into their
Hall of Fame at some point, assuming things don't get
ugly with whatever is going on. I think he'll still
be in the fold in some way, shape or form.
But I'm ready for his career to be over as
far as enring goes. And I know he put in
a good effort and worked one of his better matches

(06:19):
at this late stage of his career. I just don't
need to see it anymore. I don't need to see
Kane either. I don't need to see these older guys
just taking the spotlight while these talented mid card guys
are just picked apart, and you know they come up
with reasons why they can't. You have big show out
there in interviews talking about how thin they are on
the roster, and it's just like, no, you're not. It's

(06:40):
just you're not giving these guys an opportunity.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
I totally agree. Have you heard anything about raw viewership
or ratings.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yet as of last check.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
No.

Believe me, I'm keeping an eye out for those two.
They're usually out by now. It should be any time
and not yet.

Yeah, yeah, I agree. By the way, I'll be talking
on Thursday for part of interviews Thursday starting at five
Eastern with John Arezzi, former host of the Progressing Spotlight
radio show from the late eighties through the mid nineties.

I want to talk about sting because I am getting
the vibe Jason that this is the end of stings
in ring career. It leads to a larger topic that
I want to talk about later because I want to
get to calls quickly here, which is, should WWE look
at what happened with Rick Steamboat sort of what happened

with Undertaker, you know, the tough times he's had in
the ring the last couple times, and also now Sting,
and there's by other examples too, and just start maybe
thinking twice about putting people in their mid forties and
older into wrestling rings in situations where they try to
keep up with the young ones or the young us,
as Roman Rams would say, because he's got to pronounce

everything really cool. So yeah, I'm just curious if WWE
is going to adjust their thinking as far as that goes,
you know it. I think the situation with Sting pretty
much ends what and there wasn't much left anyway, really
nothing left, but it would have ended even if Hogan
weren't involved in the scandal recently. I think Sting getting

injured pretty much ends any chance of Hogan getting a
chance to wrestle again, even though he kept annoying Vince
mc mann and pestering everybody with wanting to wrestle at
WrestleMania next year. So you know he could take partial

I would think that, given the Hogan's current set of circumstances,
that dream is over, although Dixie Carter left the door
open to uh, Hulk Cogan coming back to TNA, which
stunned me. Wow.

Yeah, Well it's funny too because in the context of
her media interviews, she said, you know, there is no
magic bullet. You know, we've tried everybody you know, and
they have they tried staying and Hulk Hogan and Mick
Foley and Rick Flair and hack Lex Luger in the
early days and Scott Hall in an Elvis suit. I mean,
they've tried so many big names, and she's it's kind
of taken her like thirteen years, but she's finally coming

(10:42):
around to say the things that a lot of us
were saying were lessons that should have been learned. I
don't know, five ten and fifteen years ago, I didn't think,
I mean not to get off on this too much,
but I didn't think trying Hulk Cogaan and Eric Bischoff
was a bad idea. But I think Jason, we've always
said what Dixie is starting to realize, which isn't there
isn't a magic bullet. There isn't a magic bullet in
terms of signing someone or running a hotshot angle or

reinventing wrestling. You just need a platform. You need talented wrestlers,
You need some good booking to set things up, and
they need to get out of the way and let
the wrestlers tell their story. And most of all, as
Paul Hayman told Dixie, you need to have a reason
to exist besides being the minor league where the cast
oscou or the people who are perceived is not good
enough to get a WWE deal and teenage just never
found that niche. But they will be on through the

end of the year. She's since confirmed what I talked
about I think two weeks ago with you on this
show when we were talking about it, and talked about
it again last week, that they will be on Destination
America through the end of the year. At least that's
what they're now saying. So that that's interesting news. Anyway,

I mean, I'm just getting bored of seeing Stephanie do
face and heal. I mean, what do you guys think
do you think that is ever going to come maybe
after WrestleMania or what's going to go on with that.

We haven't talked about I just missed the one where

Beside Oh sorry, getting a new GM already?

Oh GM? Okay, it sounded like jam the way you say. Yeah, Jason,
I have not missed having a general manager. But if
the trade off to not having a general manager is
having the authority bounce back and forth in discriminately between face,
heel and tweeterer, I'll take a GM who at least
has a defined purpose. What's your take?

Speaker 2 (15:25):
I would as well. I think they're here for the
long haul, you know, And I think that you're more
likely to see them officially flip sides where they become
baby bases at some point than you are to see
them disappear from television anytime soon.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Yeah, yeah, DJ, what's next? I'm with Jason, by the way,
although I'd love to have William Reeve be the GM
because I love the way he plays the GM perfectly
straight up, baby face credibility, having been in the ring,
great facial expressions, great sense of authority, doesn't back down
to the heels, seems to get distressed just enough without
being cartoonish when his back is when he's cornered. But

(16:02):
most of all, I think fans believe in him in
root form. I think the way Regal plays GM on
NXT is perfect. DJ, go ahead with point number two.

My second thing is that somebody was telling me today
that Dean Ambrose and Jericho might have a few coming
up in the future, because they were saying he was
upset that he lost the match.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
Well, Jason, last night, it looked like either Dean against
Jericho or Dean excuse me, or Roman reigns against Jericho.
Jericho seemed to have a beef with both of them,
or they both had a beef with him. I think
if they were going to do a feud with Dean
and Jericho, maybe the finish of the match would have
been Dean rallying and Jericho taking himself in. But I

don't think there's a clear picture, although I will say
I thought it was odd too, Jason, that they talked
about Jericho in the opening couple minutes of the program
and then didn't talk about him again, and they kind
of blew off what happened with even Byron Saxton saying, well,
what's you know? Jericho got a little over zealous and
then they just kind of moved on. I don't know
why if he was at Night of Champions, he wasn't

(17:06):
available for RAW. It seems like it's a short, relatively
short drive and it would have been good to have
him there. Your take on that, and are you aware
of what scheduling conflict, if any, led to Jericho not
being UNWRAW.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
I'm not aware of any scheduling conflicts. I don't know
why they didn't have him there. I don't know if
it was a decision that they're bringing Orton back they
didn't want to cloud the picture too much, But that
was another strange one. That was a nice little angle
that they did at the end of their pay per
view match with him giving kind of a firm shoulder
to Dina Ambrose. My guess is with Jericho, he has

some touring dates coming up, not before the MSG show though,
so I'm wondering if that if they're just setting up
something maybe Ambrose against Jericho. It might be as simple
as that for the MSG Live special. Right now, he's
advertised his facing Kevin Owens, but that can obviously change.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Yes, all right, well let's go back to G. I
think DJ from Miami I think he had a third

Yeah, my third thing is where do you really guys
think that the Wiatt scope for here? Do you guys
think that they're going to push him until Wrestlery and
then break them up again? And what do you guys
think because do you think or do you think he'll
get another matchro Taker or I don't know what's going

On with that, Thanks DJ. I don't think Bray's get
another match with taker. I think the odds of that
are zero or one tenth of one percent or less. Jason, Yeah,
Wide Family. I think they stick together. I think the
larger question is does Eric Groan join them or do
they keep it at a group of four when Eric
Rohan's ready, which I've heard is like November or December
was the last I heard last month as an estimate

for when he'd be available, although he could always come
back and be on TV before that, even if he
couldn't wrestle. Although they probably won't bother to fly him in.
He's not that big of a deal, you know where
you'd fly him in if you can't wrestle. But yeah,
the future of the Wide Family, I assume Bronze Strowman
no one in the nineteen eighties as Jeep Swinson will
be around in the Break the White Family for a while.
That was for JBL because you know, he loves, you know,

to reference the Simpsons. Brought the Simpsons and that whole
era over and over again from World Class, so I
might as well bring in a Jeeps one.

Well, he did steal you know, the Ultimate Insiders last night,
so I go in.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Well, it's just like the show looked very much like
a very slick Ultimate Insiders with with you know, pop
up graphics and things. I mean, it's what they should
be doing, so I'm sure it wasn't. I'm guessing it
wasn't like an intentional rip off or anything, but it
did definitely remind me of that, although he did have
a better suit.

Than you would, yes, and better shoes. Yes. The Jason's
referencing the DVD series I did in the I guess
the mid two thousands, late two thousands, I don't know,
two thousand and six, two thousand and eight where I did.
I flew out to LA and interviewed the Hardy Boys
on camera, and then Vincerson had Ferrara on camera for
hours and hours, and you can find clips of it

on YouTube everywhere. But yeah, it was a big DVD
series and it was on camera interviews. But yeah, the
pop up Facts were talking to Kevin klein Rock, the producer,
about the pop up stuff, and I think, if I
remember right, it was my idea to do the pop
up facts, and I still remember typing up all those
pop up backs and sid to mc kevin and we
are sorting through though, so yeah, well we'll talk about

that a little bit too, probably in the after show
unless someone brings it up first, the JBL Bischoff thing.
But yeah, it wasn't my original idea to do pop ups.
But if it looks a lot like it, I don't
know between maybe I'll have Maybe my lawyer will get

lawyers getting old of WWE for stealing the Joseph park

I'll give TNA a little not a lot, but a
little slacked in the sense that that Abyss had not
been maskless before and Kane had been. I mean, obviously
they couldn't play dumb on this, so I mean that
would be even more crazy than it was with TNA.
With TNA sort of, at first, it didn't even seem
like Joseph Park was necessarily going to play they were

even going to reveal. In the long run, it was
a bit so it wasn't like obvious. It was more like, hey,
you'll just play a different character. And then over time
when it became obvious storyline wise, it made the announcers
look like complete buffoons that they didn't.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
That's the thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah, over time that was
the issue. Jump into his question about the Wiats. I
think what you see is what you get, Wade. You know,
I think Scroman is there to be a mountain for
Roman reigns to climb, and I don't think they have
major plans for the Wyatt family. I think with you know,

(22:36):
the further we get here with seth Rawlins in his
title reign, at some point they'll flip the switch. And
I think you want to keep the Wyatt family together
so that somewhere down the road you can revisit the
Shield and the Wyatt family when it makes sense. I
hope they don't go to it too soon, but I
also wait, I don't want to see them break up
the Wyatt family again and then have them get back
together again. So I just, you know, even though I

(22:57):
think they're going to ultimately lose this program to roll Range,
which makes sense, I think they will stay together, whether
it's with Strowman or with Rowan or both.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Even though we talked about Jericho kind of not being
un run why and you know the aren't return instead
and all that, The question is, did it look coming
out of Sunday that it was going to be Dean
or Roman feuding with Jericho see, I.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Thought Dean because he gave Dean kind of the firm shoulder,
and then they did. There was a WWE website interview
that they put out on YouTube and it was Dean
who was very bothered by this and Roman was kind
of it seemed like he was trying to keep the peace.

Oh okay, yep, Hey, I'm all for a Dean Jericho feud.
I think that would elevate Dean. I thought Jericho was
was really good on Sunday too, so just in keeping put.
You know, Jericho's known for being really an architect of
matches and having a lot of good ideas, and I
thought that that that it showed that Jericho was part
of putting that match together on Sunday. I bet he

but when you just hover a camera on her and
she's not talking, she suddenly just over does it on

I'm hoping that there is that this is part of
the storyline. It may have you know, a couple of
weeks from now. I may just be throwing my hands up,

really hype big show and Lesner and I thought that,
you know, kind of the way they hype the Japan
special might be the way they hyped MSG. Hey to
none of the network Brock Lesner's wrestling, and it's passive.
They don't really talk a lot about the opponent or
the lineup. They've started to promote MSG closer to a

pay per view than the Japan Special or even NXT
takeover specials. They're giving it a little extra juice. What's
behind that, Jason? And could you see them I won't
say well prematurely with that like a loaded question, but
could you see them giving a seth Kine match away
at MSG as opposed to waiting for the next pay
per view itself? As if there's much of a difference anymore.

Yeah, I mean I saw it as kind of a
soft push, certainly, like you say, more so than they
did the show special from Japan. But I didn't think
it was all out pay per view push. They were
just kind of acknowledging it. I kept waiting for, like
Helena cell hype to kick in, and it just never happened.
It's the biggest match they've had or they probably will
have all fall in the main event of Helena Cel,

and yet they're giving it the least amount of hype.
It's the announcement of that was just so awkward on
Sunday night in a video package, and they really didn't
give enough juice to it last night either. I'm guessing
that they go with Kane and his title match at
Helena cl with the logic being that they have a

match in Lesner and Taker that will sell that show,
and so they're going to feel like they can go
ahead and get away with a Cane title match on
this show. I mean, if possible, it's msg but right
now it's advertised as Scena against Rawlins for the US title.
My guess weight is that may switch if they stick
with that match to a world title match, because after all,

Seena has beat him two nights in a row now,
and so maybe maybe that's the story they're trying to tell,
is that Sena gets his title shot against Rawlins, and
maybe maybe they'll actually established that the world champion is
at least equal to the US champion instead of making
him look inferior.

Or maybe John Cena wins the title at MSG, and
they move Sena into a match against somebody else at
Helena Cell and that's why they haven't announced anything formal yet.
And then Seth takes on Kane in a grudge match
and Sena gets to carry around two belts.

Could be I mean, I don't even know where they're
going with Sina. Yeah, that's it's weird though, because I
don't see like once they get once he gets through Rawlins,
what's next for him? I mean I can't is anything
jumping out of U Wight as like an obvious opponent

an actual review opponent.

this undercurrent of potential opponents for a number of their

seems like their answer is bringing back Kane, because who

last year On september twenty, second and they did a
two point eight one on two years ago with the
three Hour raw and then the year before that at
two point seven to, two so they're very much been,
averaging you, know two point seven two point. Eight this

Good they were up AGAINST cbs which did like seventeen
million For Big Bang, theory just blowing away ra's three
point three million. Average roughly Fo ball did about twelve
point four million, viewers so they had some stiff, competition
but they have, forever you, KNOW i, mean they've always
had tough competition and they've said bring it on and
they've done. Well so in the ratings went down each,

hour WHICH i think they have to be disappointed. In
they did three point four. Million first, hour they had
the first half hour unopposed By Monday Night. Football second
hour did three point three, six and then the final
hour did three point twenty. Six so not a momentum building.
Show all the more disappointing when you're giving Away John
cena against Seth. RAWLINS i, mean when you're giving that

match away and it's the lowest rated hour of a
three hour, show it just shows that they're running out
of matches that they can feature that make a difference
in the. Ratings, jason that overexposure Of seth and the same,
old same old opponents For. SENA i think it creates
some wear and tear on viewership and there's some fatigue.

one of the pluses Of sina getting THE us title
