the Walking This Ways Impact was podcasthere broadcast in df W. That that
was what for it takes, soeverybody wants to know the DFW mean.
We're very glad, We're very fortunate, very on date. We are banking
on this Saturday morning edition. OtherWalking This Ways Impact was podcast with live
(00:25):
stream every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. And very excited, very fortunate him.
I guess with me this morning.Hardworking woman, always want to go,
always make a name for herself, all about putting the smile the laugh
on the people when she's on stageor hosting events. We met some by
(00:45):
some years ago up in three yearscam cross what she did event via social
media, went to one event, became friends ever since then. Very consistent
on there on her course. It'snever a double moment when you come across
this amazing woman. A further exceptance, thank you once again for taking time
(01:06):
out of your schedule to come onhere. I know you're a very productive
onosaid the word busy, but youdo a lot of great things around the
CD, not just in the updiltybut all around. So how everything been
going with you, what's been goingon with you? Appreciate it? Yeah,
No, first of all, thankyou for having me, and I
mean you yourself for inspiration you know, staying focused and you know, being
(01:29):
consistent. So you know, sothank you again for having me on your
show. I appreciate you. Butuh, but yeah, you know,
got shows coming up, you know, just do my thing. What comedy
looking forward really looking forward to thisyear and you know, and if something
always look forward to, especially doingsomething that you you're a passionate about.
(01:51):
You're doing something that you love todo, and you have an opportunity per
se to menders when I say mentasto serving BP be out there putting on
shows, putting together routine where youwant to get everyone whom you come and
come to it a great time,no matter what they may be dealing with
or they may faced because someone somewhereis always dealing with something, going through
(02:13):
something different, trying time, challenges, uh, some type of transition in
life. But you being there witha smile on their face, give them
time to laugh too, just tounwind, because like you never know what
an individual may be dealing with ormaybe going through or coming out of.
But by you, you know, doing a routine, doing the joke really
(02:36):
made it day and just really changingcircumstances. Thank you. Yeah, it's
a pleasure and it's an honor tobe able to bring some light, you
know, to somebody you've bee beingfor a short period of time, you
know, just to to be thatlike you know, to be that vessel
to show love. And like yousaid, I want to make everybody feel
(02:57):
welcome, you know. I wanteverybody to feel like you know, they've
been knowing me for years, youknow what I mean. So so that's
I never want anybody to feel youknow, offended or you know, anything
like that. So I try tobe aware of things like that. And
yeah, and mostly and I said, every time you having events that you're
doing things, you make yourself known, make your presence known. When you're
(03:21):
always interacting, when people that cometo your show and comes to your vents
and you're not being staying off.You have individuals who be staying office.
They don't make people feel welcome. But you the ones I don't mean it
make people feel welcome. And that'sa good thing because at the end of
the day, they're paying your billsand they come and paying their hard earn
money to see your show. That'snot like giving them money. But like,
(03:45):
man, she's not she's real, she's genuine. She's not coming up
being phony or faith. Actually makepeople welcome and that's the thing. And
God bless you for that. Iappreciate that. So, like I said,
you have impressive resume. You wouldfrom from athletics to comedian. How
(04:05):
did it all come about? Fromgoing from an athletic background to transition to
on the stage, perform in frontof I'm gonna say it, perform in
front of millions. Oh yeah, yeah, we're gonna claim Oh yeah,
you know it the sure? Well, I actually, uh, I don't
(04:26):
know. As far as comedy goes, I was I just kind of always
been that person, you know, making people laugh and you know all of
that, and I just never reallythought it was a professional you know,
you know that you could really doa whole lot because I didn't. I
wouldn't. I mean, you know, back in the day, yeah,
(04:47):
comic jam but it you know, stuff like that and uh e t you
know what I mean. Uh,they had com comedy things like that,
but you know, it just itseems like at that time, as a
kid looking at that. I employedit. I watched it. I enjoyed
it, you know, Martin, you know, stand up, uh you
(05:09):
know, seeing that. I probablyshouldn't have seen that as a kid,
you know, from the language terms, right and all of that. But
uh but yeah, you know,I love that. But I just didn't
think it was something that was possiblefor me, you know what I mean.
You know, I didn't know anybody, you know, as a kid
that was in that field or tohave been successful in that field. And
(05:29):
then you know, then the oldright guy, you know, I already
coming into contact with me, youknow, like that, and I'm like,
okay, and I actually got youknow, watching the progressing and watching
the rides, and and it wasinspirational and and I always had like jokes
in my head, you know whatI mean. I never knew why,
you know what I mean. Ijust always you know, I was thinking
about, you know, stuff, but I never knew how to format it
(05:51):
and things like that. And soI eventually, uh, you know,
kind of started seeing comedy, youknow, and more comed against you know
as well, you know, goingup and and being successful and really being
able to uh to leave the warrant, you know, and uh and I
was like, oh man, that'sthat's a legit you know what I mean,
(06:13):
that's a legit space. And I'vealways had these jokes in my head
and just you know, never reallyknew how to get them out and playing
football, I actually, you know, finally came to it. I'm like,
man, you know what I'm youknow, I'm gonna get on stage
one day. I'm gonna go toopen my you know. And one of
my one of my teammates, shewas like, you know, I'm about
to you know, get into comedytoo, and uh and she did like,
(06:35):
you know, like you just gotto get out there mic since next.
But I was I was like terrified, you know. And I was
like I got to learn how todo it first. I don't want to
look I don't want to look dom, you know. And uh So that
was Elana Spiller and she actually,uh was all part of uh part of
the City season three, I believe, so, you know, just kind
(06:57):
of watching her progress in comedy, you know, I was I was easing
towards it, you know what Imean. And I was kind of like
lurking in the shadows, like goand you know, see see her shows.
And then you know it's it's acomedian and median put that I have
met even probably before I met Kilana, but uh, you know, he
would you would tell me like, hey, you know you got to be
(07:18):
out here because you know, andI'm like right, you know, but
I had to go a different pathas far as you know, getting there
because I was so great, youknow, so I had to you know,
I had to learn, I wantto. I was to Dallas Comic
They had a uh like comic standup class right and uh and develop So
I tended you know, stand uplevel one and level two. A friend
(07:42):
of mine actually sponsored me, uhbecause she believed to me. She like
be like, you know, yougotta gotta going and you know what I
mean going to do what I believeme. You know what, I'm a
sponsor and you know, pay forthis class for you so you can go
ahead and started. And that's afriend of mine I played football with as
well, you know all of it, you know kind of goes back football.
(08:03):
But a friend of mine, sheshe was actually the first woman to
uh to coach in the NFL.So her name is Jim Welser. Shout
out to wealth and she showed melove back back then, like really believing
in me and pushing me to youknow, go ahead and get out there.
But but yeah, it really endedup you know then you know,
(08:28):
okay, yeah, you know whatI mean, Like they just know how
to and they like you somehow,No, I mean, but they can't
teach you. It's like everybody thatjust a good basketball player, don't mean
it's a good coach, you knowwhat I mean. So I was asking
(08:48):
people like how do I like, you know, I got all this stuff,
and it was just like none ofit was tied together, and I
didn't know how to tie together. And you know, people would give me
there are a version of advice, but it wasn't helpful. And then I
finally came across somebody that saw whatI was trying to do and he pulled
me to the side. After afew time seeing me, he's like,
yeah, like that's some you gotsome good good stuff, Like you just
(09:09):
need to know how to organize thestructure. And he showed me that and
me and him been rocking ever since. You know, that's my boy,
darry Jack, Like so we're doing. As a matter of fact, we
have a show together at the Addisonimprov on Tuesday at seven. Yeah.
(09:30):
Man, that's awesome. And you'vebeen going ever since then. And just
like they train, the transition fromlike it from being an athlete think comedian
and this big shout to the individualwho believed in you, and just how
skies are There's no illfare's no can'tbut the possibility of someone believing in you.
(09:56):
Uh, what a game you givesomeone who never that speak being okay,
someone believing in me, not notdown, not un belittering me,
but giving me the green light sayinghey, you know, I believe in
you. How is that feeling tohave when someone tell you when you made
that transition, hey, I believein you? Oh man, No,
(10:18):
it was great because you know,uh, you have that side of you,
got friends that are like, hey, I believe in you. You
know, go do it. Youain't gonna be good at first, you
know what I'm saying. Like, you know, but being an athlete for
so long and being good, youknow what I mean, Like being good
at what I do for so long, sometimes it's hard to start over and
(10:39):
go back good s, bro,you know what I'm saying, And then
you know, kind of build yourway back up. But that was something
I had to do. But alsoyou know, at the same time,
you have friends that are like, hey, you know what, like you
didn't accomplished a lot, you knowwhat I mean, Like maybe the same
for you. You know what I'msaying, like let them you know,
and you know so, but youhave even but they they're not coming from
(11:01):
a place to hurt you, likethey're trying to protect you in any way,
you know what I mean, Likeinstead of you know, instead of
looking at it like man, they'retrying to shying and you know that,
you know, no, you gotto look at it like now they're trying
to protect you. You know, they ain't never seen you in this state,
you know, the ain't never seenand uh. And that's what it
was like, you know, comingin brand new, like it's a it's
(11:22):
a vulnerability, uh, to tostart over and learn something new and you
know, fall on your face andyou know, back up and do it
again. So you know, I'mthankful for all of it. Yeah,
And that's it. You know, that's when you have conversation with people when
you always say, hey, aproud to you, I'm trying or things
(11:43):
of that nature. I would sayremoved trying because you are doing it.
It's some people who ain't doing it. But by you making the first step
shows that you all winning the willingand it's to succeed. And we may
have some hipgoes along the way orsome set bags, but you still keep
going and you still keep pressing yourway through. And you because at the
(12:07):
time time we get tested to Ibelieve, because people staying bad and say,
okay, I just want to seehow consistent you are, how serious
you are when it comes to whatyou're doing where they stay in office to
see, okay, how consistent thatyou are with it. Well, it's
it's kind of weird, it is. It is some people you know,
(12:30):
you know they gonna show up justbecause they they love me, you know
what I'm saying, and not necessarilyseeing it consistent or not because they don't
you know, they don't really knowyou know what I'm saying, Like they
never seen you on a different Theyonly know you in one facet of your
life, you know what I'm saying. Like a lot of people only knew
me football, and you know thatpersonality that I was playing football, You
(12:52):
know what I mean? And youknow, even so a lot of them
still didn't know me personally, youknow what I'm saying, but they knew
me on that level, you know, and they had a lot of interaction
with me on on that level. But you know, you just gotta kind
of just keep keep going and keepyou like jay Z just said perfectly,
you know, you gotta keep showingup, you know, and uh,
and not let with anybody thinks, you know, like because you can see
(13:16):
you can tell, you know whatI mean, Like you come on stage
and you're good, like people like, ah, we're gonna eat this,
you know, like it's super awkwardand then like you know, you're being
new, like you don't really youdon't really know, Like you know what
I'm saying, how bad you areat art, you know what saying.
But like, but I'm thankful foryou know, the ones that saw me
(13:41):
in the beginning, you know whatI'm saying, And I love them to
come to me now the growth. You know what I'm saying. Be like,
dang, like really stuff, wedidn't you learned it? You know
what I'm saying. Doing your thing, you know what I'm saying, Like
I especially love for that saw mefrom the very beginning. You know what
I'm saying to see me on stagenow because you know I had broke confidence
(14:01):
on stage. Nothing they wouldn't usedo that. Like I'm I'm so man
on the on the field, Ohmy god, oh man like that person
also ego on the field, alittle radh Man, little Red was a
fool, you know what i mean, like just you know, just would
having fun, you know what I'msaying. Like but like very aggressive,
very very confident, you know whati mean. Like it was it was
(14:24):
the deafest swagger on the on thefield. That's you know, different than
how I carried myself in day today life. Like a matter of fact,
I used to be in corporate America. Uh, probably the majority of
yeah, all of my football, yeah, all of my football careers.
And I had invited some coworkers outto my game and uh, and I'm
not thinking about my different personalities, you know what I'm saying, that's the
(14:48):
corporate personality. And then it's meon a field where I'm one hundred percent
free, you know what I'm saying. I'm on the field, and uh,
I went back to work and docame with me. It was like
dang murder, just like you didn'ttell me you was a thug. I
was like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah you ain't. You do know
that side of me? Yeah yeahon the field because I'm just so addressive.
(15:11):
I'm you know, he would thinkI'm small and everything, but nah,
I definitely carry this way. Uhreal nice. I used it in
the most impactful way. I wasknown for deep cleating deep you know what
I'm saying, Like I'm talking aboutknocking them off. They you don't care
how big they are, you knowwhat I'm saying, Like that was me,
you know so uh so yeah,So to go from them seeing me
as that person on the field, very aggressive, I'm a leader, you
(15:35):
know what I'm saying, I'm acaptain, you know all of that,
Uh, to seeing me going tosomething where I'm like not sure myself,
you know what I'm saying, andI'm uh I'm you know phone Like I
said, they never see any likethat, you know what I'm saying.
I always been in control and uhso, so you can tell that.
You can see the difference now I'mwho I am on stage is who I
(15:56):
am, you know what i mean, Like people really get to see my
personality. That's really you know whatI mean, like, like you know
what I'm saying, Like, Ijust I like to have a good time,
you know, I like to havefun and I like to make people
go welcome. So you know, the confidence that you see on stage is
the confidence that I just that Ihad on the field, you know.
So so at that part, I'mso glad that I caught up to that
(16:19):
because because I did not like Idid not like, you know, being
unsure of myself. You know, like I said, sometimes you you have
to start over, you know,go from from one to ten, and
then you got to start back overat one to get eleven to twenty,
you know what I'm saying. Soyou can't be scared to go to the
next level. You got to startover somewhere, you know. And it's
(16:41):
just a part of leveling up,you know. So I'm thankful, like
I said, I'm thankful for wordall. But but yeah, it's definitely
a you can tell when somebody iskind of embarrassed, like yeah, yeah,
I know, but you know, but it's it's so yeah, it
was. It was a little weird, you know. I know it's weird
for them, like I said, but they're not used to seeing me semi
vulnerable, right because everyone see youin a different light until they actually get
(17:06):
to see another side of you thatdidn't never seen for their new witness.
It's always been in you, whichyou know you wan't surprise, but on
our sides like why I know thatI did not know this and that.
But just to see you perform,it's just to see you put on the
show and just like for a whileand all of this having a good time
(17:27):
because the end of the day, what you do, it's all about having
fun. I know you collab witha lot of individuals as well and just
all boy coming together, having agood time, giving people the times where
their money's worth that they can goand leave with something that something would say.
It's something with slight of firing themor sparking them whether you want to
(17:49):
say, but them having a goodtime. So, like I said,
you made that transition from athletes tostaying communia already. Any similarities when it
comes to a parent. I knowwe have a game coming up, you
got a player for the game.Same way when you get to do a
show, you got to prepare forthat. So are there any similarity when
(18:10):
it comes to a pairing yourself atthe end of the day, the number
one goal is to dominate and justto dominate. And when it fee that
you're in ladies and gentlemen, youwant to dominate. You want to give
you your one tho. So arethere any similarities when it comes to making
those preparations when it's going before alive audience. Yeah? Absolutely. For
(18:32):
me. The biggest thing for meis mindset, you know what I mean,
Like mindset. I can't some peoplecan be talking, playing, you
know what I mean, Like youknow, drink and you know what I
mean, like be real, realloose prior to getting on stage. I
(18:52):
can't do that, you know whatI mean. Like I gotta, I
gotta get to myself, get inmy zone, you know what I mean,
get focused. I mean, it'sit's uh because I'm mentally preparing for
one. I'm preparing myself for theaudience. They're seeing me, a lot
of them, most of them areseeing me for the first time, you
know what I mean. So Iwant to you know, so when I
get on the stage, that's gonnabe a first impression, right, So
(19:15):
I want to make sure that Imake the right first impression and off top,
make people, you know, whatI mean. So, so you
might see me at the back ofa room at a comedy show, pacing
back and forth, you know whatI mean, stretching I do, I
do all of that, you know, or I'll be off on the side
room, uh, you know, pacing just you know, because I'm you
(19:36):
know, I'm mentally preparing and visualizingbefore I get on that stage. And
that's you know, that's exactly whatI you know, did up with football
like it was. It was atotal Now. I was one of those
people that could play right like forfootball, Like I could be joking around,
playing in the locker room. Uh, but I could also turn that
off, you know what I mean, and and give give fu it's in
(20:00):
my zone. I knew how muchsign I had, you know what I
mean. I knew how much signI needed to get my mind, you
know, get my mind right. What I didn't understand as a player is
that everybody couldn't do that, youknow what I'm saying. So like I'm
playing with you know, I'm playingwith joking da da da da dah and
being boom, I'm getting focused, you know, getting in my zone,
you know, and they don't knowhow to hit that switch, you know
(20:22):
what I mean. I used tohave a coach. They used to say,
you know, you got to hitthe cycle switch whenever you get ready'
on field, like the person thatyou are in between the lines, you
know what I'm saying, It's notthe person that you are off this field,
you know what I mean. SoI carry that mentality, you know,
in everything I do. You know, when I get on stage,
like you know, it's it's adifferent person, you know what I mean.
So you know, when I geton that stage, I gotta be
(20:44):
focused, you know, and eventhough it's fun, it's a focused effort,
you know what I mean. Andit's not just me getting up there
just just rambling, you know whatI mean. It's I'm thinking about my
jokes, you know what I mean. I'm rehearsing my jokes. You know,
I know what I'm popping off assoon as I get out there,
you know, so that they're justkind of you know, close when I
get there. So so yeah,it's still you know, it's a preparation
(21:07):
and you know a lot of peopleyou know, do open mics to get
ready. That would be like footballpractice, you know what I'm saying.
I don't I don't really just theway my schedules, I really don't hit
a lot of open mics because Ihave a lot of shows, you know
what I mean, I have shows, you know. But but yeah,
you know, it's definitely a goodthing to do. I want to do
more. Like I said, myschedule is just kind of kind of crazy,
(21:32):
you know what I'm saying. Soso I just you know, I
got two daughters, you know, and both of them are are young ladies,
you know, and working and soyou know, just kind of working
around eight schedules and all of that. I just don't need to get out
as much as I would like to. But if it's some money involved,
I'll make time. I'll make time, you know what I mean, Like
(21:53):
I gotta be I gotta you know, if it's if it's a show,
you know what I'm saying, andnot just me just going up there,
yes or whatever. I work inmy new material when I'm most aged,
you know, basically in front ofof my mineys. You know, not
saying nothing against open mike, butyou know, because it is a necessary
thing, and say, right, yeah, because this is your profession,
(22:17):
this is your career, and you'reall about being one thousand, seeing when
it comes to your career, whenit comes to your profession, at all
costs, total respect, that it'swhatever and matter of fact. Won jumping
to a quick commercial break, andwe're gonna jump right back into some Q
and a conversation as well. Igot small questions I want to ask you.
So it's gonna be right back afterthis commercial break. Yeah, Terror
(22:48):
County just spend eighteen million on whatgirl? They just spent eighteen million dollars
sending inmates to Guardza County because allfour of our jails are filled here and
I know it's because these courters areback to This is a problem. But
Mark, I know you can helpfix this. Okay, I know what
I need to do. I'm MarkClayton, Judicial candidate for Terran County Criminal
(23:44):
District Court. Too. I promiseto continue serving and protecting the citizens of
Arrant County by following the law, upholding our constitution, ensuring fair and equitable
seniency, ruling firmly but with compassion. I need you to make your mark
in twenty twenty four. Run tothe polls and vote for me, because
your life depends on it. Paywith the everybody we went back here and
(24:11):
walking this way. Impact was podcast. This is on Saturday morning edition.
We are live sing right now herein the Dallas for Texas area. Hope
everybody's having a great productive that.We know it is raining. I know
that got out work this morning.I know it was no raining or whatever.
So if you're out there, besafe on the roads. You know
people drive bravey, so made sureyou're looking out for yourself and you're looking
(24:33):
out for them. Also. Ifyou are out there, be safe on
the roads. So we're u backin my zone with a bird of ourselves
right now. On very hardworking woman. I love her spirit. I love
how consistent that she is always onthe right basis. She's always consistently what
she do and I respect that shealways got to head down and she's always
(24:55):
grinding and putting it in work. And you're all about evolving and that's another
thing you want to all have. All they sent to your graft I know
is if I take it to thenixt level. Uh So let's talk about
your name for Berta. Yeah,do people ask you people question you all
the time. I know that thatis your real name, but people ask
that question that's your real name.Yes, name on the regular They do
(25:18):
not on a regular basis, butI run into it and uh, and
sometimes I went to a chiropractor anduh recently and uh, whenever I walked
into his office, uh, hewas like, you know, like wait
a minute, Alberta. I said, yeah, he said, oh man,
he said, I don't know.He said, I was expecting somebody
much older. I was like,yeah, yeah, I know, I
(25:40):
know, like name that my grandma. So yeah, or people always say,
oh, you know what, mygrandma name is Alberta. My my
great auntie name is Alberta, likeyou know, so, so you know,
it's it's definitely a thing whenever Itell people my name. So it's
just hey, this is actual government. Yeah, is not a stage name.
(26:07):
So when it comes to do youalways put you? Are you always
in competition with yourself? That's theone one to hear if you say it
is me versus me? So areyou one of individual? Are always a
competition? I know every time youdo a show, it's like, okay,
I did get on this show, but I want to do myself on
(26:29):
this show to compare to the lastshow. So are you always in competition
with yourself? Because it's always thatme versus me, because at the end
of the day, it's all ourperfection, the delivery and just always out
doing yourself on compared to the lastshow. So how do you always come
by doing that? Well? Ifeel like, you know, whatever,
(26:49):
whatever show, if I had aas a comedian and and no comedian to
not whenever you have a good show, know the feeling that you have,
Uh, it's like you're just fullof love, you know what I mean.
It's just like it's a it's anelevated feeling of love, you know
(27:10):
what I mean. And and andeverybody love that feeling, you know what
I mean. So if I knowwhenever I have that feeling like okay,
it can't drop below this right here, you know what I'm saying, And
then it gotta keep you know thatway you call yourself a kount of like
hey, this is this is howthis one went, Like okay, we
can't do no work. I mean, it was a great show, don't
get me wrong, but this isthis is now the new you know what
(27:34):
I mean, It's the new notchthat we gotta rise above time. And
you keep competing with yourself like that, just trying to get better because it's
definitely not a you know, Ithink I think comedy is so subjective,
subjective that you know, it's nota you can't kind of compare complete comedians
to comedians because people like so manydifferent things, you know what I mean.
(27:55):
So like, you know, Imight be hilarious to you, you
know what I mean, but theperson next to you, you know what
I mean, didn't receive you knowwhat I mean without saying or you know
what I mean, because they owna different you know, they're on a
different co operation or whatever, youknow what I mean, Like they wouldn't
bother me. But the but theother comedian that you might not have found
funny, they love it. It'slike that ain't hold on what you know
what I mean. So it's likeso you can't base it on that,
(28:17):
you know what I'm saying, Andyou just gotta go out there and be
the best shoot every time, youknow, and and not really can't worry
about you know who gonna like mebetter? They don't like me better than
this person or what. No,just just gotta you know, because if
you allowed to have that much powerover you to say, Okay, well
yeah this people like me, thenI'm you know, doing my thing.
(28:38):
Then when they're not receiving you,you know what I mean, like that
feeling, you know what i mean, it's like like dang. You know
what I'm saying. It's like losingthe game. And it's like when you
lose, when you do the game. In any athlete, you know this
feeling when you lose the game, that's all you can think about. You
know what I'm saying. You don'teven want to see. No, you
know what I'm saying, either lostthe in the in the place out.
(29:00):
You know what I'm saying, Likeyou don't even want to think about it,
you know, but you gotta yougotta pull yourself back together and and
and you know, get back toit and say, okay, all right,
let me look at it. Youknow what I'm saying, Let me
maybe delivery, you know what imean. Or the same seven crowd and
they love it, you know whatI mean, And you have that night
and the rod and they don't waitseven It was like dang, in the
(29:26):
same you know what I mean. It's like you know, I mean you
but for me, I yes,I'm constantly and not only uh, I
don't know, you know what I'msaying, like, you can get in
(29:52):
your own way a lot of times, you know what I'm saying. And
because for a long time I'll meetin my way of in comedy, I
had to pass that fear, youknow what i mean, and say,
okay, well what's on the otherside of this fear? You know what
I'm saying, Like, I reallygot to push that. But it's still
it was a constant battle your nerves. You know, you're jumping, you
know what i mean, uncontrollable, nervous, you know what I'm saying,
(30:15):
Like, you know, you gottafight through that. And and so that's
the biggest battle. Every day islike okay, all right, I need
to work on some material, youknow what I mean, Like, all
right, I need to And I'mkind of and honestly, even though I
don't be getting up open Mico stuff, I'm always throughout the day, always,
you know, you know what imean, working on how can I
(30:36):
punch up this joke? How canI make this better? Who what's not
added is to make it better? You know what I mean. We're thinking
of something else and be like, ooh, I'm gonna start working on that,
you know what I mean. Imight not implement it, just shit.
But because I'm a perfectionist, andthat's that's another thing. Like if
you're a perfectionist, you're getting yourown way too. So it's like,
so it's like me battling against allof that, you know what I mean.
It's like battling against all of that. So it's it's me versus me
(30:59):
and more than leveling up, youknow what I'm saying, it's me like
dang, no, man, Iwant to sleep. No, you need
to work on solitary, you knowwhat I mean? Like, man,
I need you know what I mean, I need to you know, do
this. I want to get outand work. I like to be at
home, you know what I'm saying. I do. So it's like,
you know, it's it's fighting againstagainst me all day every day, you
know what I mean. It's likethat that's the biggest task right most definitely,
(31:26):
you know, it's just throwing thatego. We know, the egle
comes up and say, oh wedo another day, Oh we can do
it tomorrow. Oh you know,I don't even worry about it. Yeah
you can, you got plenty oftime. But it's all about destroying that
ego. When according to go Bilbefore moment moment when Christ said that the
spirit is willing, the flesh isweak. That's that's true right there,
(31:47):
because that spir just willing, thatflesh is we did. Flesh get hungry,
they get tired, It gets weary, and if we're not careful,
we'll fall right into it. Andthen like dang, I know I could
have worked on this today. Igot to be said this day. Like
I said, I know you knowwhen you was an athlete, and I
(32:07):
know you have y'all go durn practices. I look, they always pull up
the film and go back to,Okay, what we did right? What
did wrong? Let me ask youdid do you do the same thing when
it comes to your shows? Doyou have it already recorded? You actually
like go back, listen to whatwe did? How you did you deliver
it? So you do you admitthat as well? Also when it's songs
(32:29):
to do your shows and stuff.Yeah, And a lot of times if
I have more audio than than visualvideos, you know what I mean,
because just because I want to hearit back, I want to hear what
they what they laughed at, becausewhen you in the moment, you know
they laughing. But you don't believe, you know what I mean. It's
hard to you just rolling with itbecause you just on it, you know
(32:51):
what I mean. So so it'sgood to listen back. I like to
listen back and say, Okay, okay, oh they was you know,
and I might throw a had liveout there that it's not a part of
my set, but I'm just like, you know, okay, oh they
like that. Let me keep that, you know what I mean. And
it helps kind of build on yourset or like, Okay, I threw
a new joke out there. Letme see how they responded to it,
you know what I mean. Soyeah, so it is a and sometimes
(33:13):
it's hard to I don't like listeningto myself, you know what I'm saying.
So that's another mental battling against youknow what I'm saying against myself is
like nope, go listen to it, like I don't. You know,
I don't because I never even asa kid, like you know how like
well you know, I'm I'm inmy forties, man, you know.
So we used to have them uhthem boxes, the boom boxes, right,
(33:36):
you know what I'm saying, Youknow what I'm saying. So I
used to always do stuff like that. I always wanted to be in an
entertainer and and even back then,I was like, dang, that's how
I sound, you know, Sothat's my voice I'm saying. It's like
dang, but you know so it'sstill kind of just again. It's it's
that that inner battle that you knowwe all go through and some so way
(34:00):
that we have to push through andsay nope, nope, don't do it.
Even no, won't you know, don't want to gonna feel like you
know what I'm saying, like wegotta, we gotta do this, you
know, I want to. Whyis that we never really go now we're
now, we want other people towatch our work and and give their opinion,
but when it comes to our ownwork, I never watched my work.
(34:23):
I never right now even though we'relisting right now, yeah, being
recorded and also it's been art recordedbecause this is gonna be on the our
heart and Spotify side as well.I never really go back to it because
I just never did that. Butpeople go back and watch it. So
I enjoyed it was good whatever, and you give that what you do,
(34:44):
but deep down inside I know itcan always be better because of plan in
my mind. Okay, I wantthese shows to be good. I want
these shows to be very interesting.I don't always see anybody of time.
I want to guess the field work. I want the guests to bring forth
the expertise, their wisdom and knowledge. Because at the end of the day,
it's about those that was about I'mgonna say it's about a burder.
(35:07):
These people pay our bills, That'swhat I want to say. They are
the ones who keep us going. These are the ones keep our lives on.
And so it's all, okay,we want to make you give them
a good show. You want tomake sure that when they listen to you,
Okay, if you bringing the delivery, Like, Okay, I can
go back and listen to what shesaid even though I heard it before.
But I'm always gonna get something outof it. It's just like the Bible.
(35:27):
We read the Bible. You know, it may be the same thing
but with a different revelation out ofit. Yeah, so it's always I
can put it down like always goback to it. And that's how I
just really look at when it comesto just being the best at what we
do. It's just like I wantto go back I want them to go
back, get something out of itand really say, you know what,
(35:49):
we made an impact on some ofmy life, even just that one.
Somebody that was exact job well doneexactly also got it. Oh, we
got some come We got some comingscoming in as well. Be shout to
everybody who was seeing any questions fromthe audience on B shot to James Burns
the DFW area, he said, how does she him not using her funning?
Joe repeatedly? How does she balancethat as a comedian? As a
(36:14):
question from the audience in the comingsession, was it using a dope?
Repeatedly? Yeah? How does howdo you handler not using funding Joe's repeatedly?
Well, I mean I would saylike you can you can always freshing
up with Joe, you know whatI mean. And even if you know
(36:34):
that's part of your core material,I feel like you could always add something
to it where it's not the verysame way that somebody's you know, have
and that's part of a growing part, you know what I mean too,
because you know, when I gotcomfortable with material, I just wanted to
do that material and then see,you know, try to get good at
that particular material. You know whatI mean, before I try to go
(36:54):
to something else, before I tryto add on to it. So it's
kind of like with Caat Williams sayingabout, you know, about a joke,
when Shannon Sharp asked him, youknow how often doing a joke and
he was saying, like, youknow, the way that things are right
now, people be in the crowdthat doing a joke and then it goes
a line and that person's really nothasn't crafted that joke, and kind of,
(37:15):
you know, it's like working outa you know, joke, you
know what I mean, like makingsome brig you know, keep working on
that joke to get it to youknow, as high potential that that joke
can have with add ons, becauseyou know you do get that way.
So you just kind of try tokeep it fresh and maybe have a different
delivery, or you can reorganized, restructure, you know, how your material
(37:37):
is so that it's not coming offas the very same joke, right because
and I think you rather to answeredthe second one too. It was two
questions and one and also the secondone was how do you balance that?
How do you balance that? Asbeing a comedian, how do you keep
a balance when it comes to beinga comedian. I'm not I'm not in
a comedian. I'm not finna sayeasy. You know, somebody look at
(38:00):
you so or I get up thereand do it. But we got to
realize, if you're not funny, man, folks is going you have to
build it. So you know,it's not even because people you can be
funny, and but getting on stageeven funny on stage your friends and stuff
like that. Getting on stage, that's it. It's an art, you
(38:22):
know what I mean. That's adifferent that's a different animal. Because I
thought my first time getting on onstage, I thought, you know,
I could just like, you know, kind of have material that I know
what I want to talk about, you know what I'm saying. And I
had got three minutes. My firstfirst time I reformed on stage. I
went to an open mic. Finallygot out there. My first time,
I had my friends with me.You know what I'm saying. Uh,
(38:43):
they was video and you know whatI'm saying and everything, and I got
up there, man, and itwas like because I didn't. It wasn't
something I worked repetitiously. You know, it was just like, okay,
I know I'm talking about this.Stuff was funny, you know what I
mean. And it's like, butwhen I got up there, that was
like the longest three minutes in mylife, you know what I mean,
It's the longest three minutes and tryingto and I went blank. And so
(39:04):
you can't just you know, youreally gotta you know, constantly, you
know, be at least mentally rehearsingthese things even if you're not getting on
stage. So you know, justfinding that balances, you know, because
y'all work, you know, mostof us still work, you know what
I'm saying. So it's like, you know, not only that, but
you got family, got relationships. You know what I'm saying that you got
(39:24):
to try to work all in thisand still try to be you know,
work towards being a better view andtrying to you know, really go to
that next level, you know, and you in this profession that you want
to I want to take to thenext level. Right And we know you
mentioned the cat with an interview. We know that was like one of the
(39:46):
biggest interviews for Shannon Sharp and hewas he was dressing a lot of things
within the comedian circle. Of course, he mentioned people still the material,
yeah, from other people do y'allis that and I don't has that really
(40:06):
been coming up a lot where intervidusfeel like this that this individual told my
material or how did that? Howdid that? What the word that system
work? You know you have thatrule where hey, you don't take nobody
else stuff, But how do y'allgo about that in the circle like okay,
(40:27):
it's my ask, I like thematerial, cannot use it or someone
go and take it, like, hey, you just took my stuff?
How did they go about? Becausewe know that a lot of things were
said that nobody never thought and nowit's being addressed a lot where certain individuals
they say, are taking other individualson material. Are that going up?
(40:49):
How has that covers? They comeabout with a monst comedians keeping one thousand
with each other and not going totaking someone else's material and using as they
don't Well, I mean I've heardpeople use the same material. Now for
me, I don't be following everybody. I don't know who said it first,
you know what I'm saying. Sobut the one who knows that they
(41:13):
said it first, you know, yeah, they definitely you know, have
a problem with it, and youknow so so that definitely does happen,
you know what I mean. Andsometimes and some people be as bold to
tell you, like, hey,you know what, I was in a
street board the other night, andI know you wasn't there, but your
joke was. You know what I'msaying, Like they used their material out
of town, you know what I'msaying. It's like, you know,
(41:35):
so that's kind of hearing that earshot, you know what I mean. But
and that person's kind of laughed itoff, you know, but uh,
people people do that and they thinkit's okay. I don't, you know.
I think it's thinking. I mean, be creative, you know what
I mean. God gave us.God lives in all of us, right,
and you know God is the ultimatecreator, you know what I mean.
(41:55):
So if God has been me,you know what I mean, then
I have power create you know aroundyou know, look around at everything.
You look at the s guy,you know what I mean. And you
look at the scot That guy changesevery seconds, you know what I'm saying,
Like that's ultimate creation, you knowwhat I mean. Like it's a
live picture shooting, so it's youknow, it's uh, it's so many
different things that you know God hasYou know that God has created and with
(42:22):
him being inside of us, youknow, like we all have the power
to create things on our own. There's no need to duplicate. Now.
Of course you're gonna have some topicsthat are you know, people talk.
You know, we all live withinthe same world, you know what I
mean overall, and you know they'regonna come across, you know, certain
topics, and you know that everybodyhas an opinion on, you know,
but don't use somebody's verbatim, youknow what I mean, Like, you
(42:45):
know, have your opinion and sayyour perspective and make it funny in your
own way. Don't don't use apunchlines. You know, I think you
could do it without without doing that. Yeah, that's it, because it's
like someone come to you and askyou can you can they date your eggs?
You know what I'm saying. It'slike, hey, it's okay,
(43:07):
yeah, I guess it. LikeI'm just there. It's like certain thing,
y'all blimber somebody telling you then youreggs or is it paid for me
to date your eggs? That's kindof weird, right, yeah in your
mind, like dang, you wantto date my eggs? What y'all?
Been y'all been talking to each while. You know, Yeah, there's some
(43:30):
things that you just don't do somethingexactly what James said. James says,
uh. He said, First,I don't see nothing wrong with as long
as it makes the audience slam.Yeah. But also it's all respecting to
if somebody used material or the axlemission, that's unless the EXAs Hey, it's
(43:52):
okay for you. Yeah, Iguess everybody handle things that. But you
know, it's all about being yourself, being unique beyond create your own.
But we know people do take stuff. You see it all the time,
but it's like when they do takeit, they don't perfect the right right
right right? Yeah, Dank, you can't, you know what I mean,
(44:13):
because it's not something that you created. You know what I mean.
It didn't come from you. Youknow, it's not you know. Now
that's not to say that you can'tagain take the same topic and put your
own spin on them, but don'tuse somebody's words in a punch line verbatim,
you know. And it's like Imean, and I see James said,
you know, we what does itmatter as long as you're making the
(44:34):
crowd, the audience laugh, youknow, it matters because you know,
these are jokes that people take timeto write, you know what I mean,
and and to develop and you know, just like Cat said, but
his he said, he said, you know, he had been working on
that joke for a long time, you know what I mean, to get
it to where it was, inwork with Mark Curry to help, you
know, elevate it, you knowwhat I mean. So it wasn't just
(44:54):
like something he was just saying, you know, so somebody to take your
art, you know what I mean. And yeah, okay, I'm a
change to be here, you knowwhat I mean. Like it's still it's
still my joke, you know,So I make I try to make,
you know, jokes where they're alittle bit more personal. So it's kind
of hard for somebody to joke, you know, and understand. And I
(45:17):
guess that's probably why people are skipwhen people recording stuff too, when especially
you're doing these events and people weknow in the world of social media now
bird where people could take their phoneand record you live stream you without even
knowing without even knowing it, right, and people take stuff and run with
(45:38):
it like it's theirs. What isyour opinion on that as well? So
also, you know people are recordedstuff you live streaming, don't even know
what's going on. But then youlook, you say that looks familiar.
They realize that's my material, notsomebody else took my material in doing it
right now. Well, I mean, as far as you know, it
(46:01):
is a lot of people when theysee people recording in the audience, it
kind of throw them off for again, like you said, you don't even
want to use your good jokes, you know what I mean, Like you
just start kind of you know,I seen people just start doing for out
work because it's like, okay,if you're gonna record me, you know,
I don't want my stuff out there, you know what I mean.
So so it's it's I think it'sdisrespectful to the comedian to record their material
(46:25):
without their permission. Now it'd bedifferent if they end that they phone on
somebody and said, hey, recordthis for me. But somebody that's just
you know, coming to the showand joining the show, like enjoy the
show, be present, you knowwhat I mean. You ain't gotta show
everybody if they they not there, don't go live. You know what I'm
saying. They should have been there, you know. So litt. What
is the what was all about? You gotta get another question? What is
(46:51):
the should not do root for comedians? What is it? What is the
should not do root for comedians?Well, we just talked about one.
Thou shalt not take other comedians uhmaterial, you know, Other than that,
there's a there. Look, James, there are a lot of rules
out there that I don't necessarily hfollow. It's you know, I didn't
(47:15):
come into comedy as somebody that hadbeen doing it for a long time or
I wanted to do it for along time, but I didn't, you
know, I wasn't just really youknow, consuming myself with it, you
know, at the time, andlike to know all these different rules and
stuff like that. I see alot of comedians, you know, talking
about stuff, you know, becausethere's of course, like you got a
(47:37):
g f W comedians group. Theytalk about different stuff with different rules.
Hey, you shouldn't do this, you know, you shouldn't do that.
But for me, like thou shaltnot be unfunny, Like that's the number
one rule, like you, Imean, like that's one thing that you
shouldn't do as a comedian is tonot be funny. But to me,
(47:58):
they're make own. In my opinion, there's certain there's certain things that you
definitely not doing. That's, youknow, helping somebody else's material, but
you know other things, somebody elseto give you a home of stuff.
I just don't be into it likethat, you know what I mean?
Even you know, because I knowI'm doing my thing, so I don't
really go by what everybody else saythat respect, that's respit. I guess.
(48:22):
Yeah, what you said was thethe mojis in the one hundred behind
it. So thank you James forcoming and being on. We said what
we got. He said, pullus up, sorry about that. That
was funny. That's a skid ideathat was That was funny. They're leaving
the statement that was a scared idea. So we know that now comedians are
(48:51):
talking about a lot of comedians now. Recently Monique went under Shannon Sharp Show
and say it's somethingbout Kevin Hard CatWilliam No downplay. Why is this stuff
coming now? With interviewsual Now it'slike now everybody want to put them out
now and it's like I'm saying thisby this person. This person need is
(49:14):
why is not our comedians Now?It's like they're coming against each other now,
mm hmm. You know, Ithink it's uh as far as the
two the two interviews go, youknow, I think with Kat, for
me, I feel like the reasonwhy he snapped was because people had already
(49:34):
been on you know, sharnon show, uh saying things about him, you
know, bringing him into it,you know what I mean. So I
could understand, like, hey, you're not just gonna say just anything about
me and me not fortuity, youknow what I mean. So so you
know, he he kind of gotto that level, was like, Okay,
okay, y'all, just keep myname in your mouth, you know,
(49:54):
Okay, all right, boom soand then you really don't want me
to talk, you know, thetype thing, and boom he said what
it was? You know. Uh, as far as Monique goes, I
haven't seen that whole interview, behonest, you know. She she's telling
the side of the story, youknow what I'm saying, Like, and
(50:15):
you know, it's it's unfortunate tofor it to seem seem like it's the
the attention that's coming to comedy isnegative, you know at this time,
you know, I think, uh, I think Cats was a little bit
more excuse for him then, youknow, in a lot of people,
guys, because he was just respondingto somebody already saying something about him.
(50:37):
Unique is kind of just going backbring yourself, you know what I mean,
Like, Okay, let me getyou know what I'm saying type thing
on that platform, because she waslike, I can speak my truth here,
you know what I'm saying. SoI mean, I ain't. I
ain't got none to you know, negative to say about either one of them.
I just feel like, you know, uh, there's a there's a
couple of comedians, but one ofthem, damn Damon Williams out of Chicago.
(51:00):
People saying like, you know, comedy is supposed to be fun,
you know, really taking it,you know, to another level where you
know, it's it's not what we'resupposed to We're supposed to be bringing life,
you know, to the world. So yeah, and most definitely,
and James said, everyone wants tobe the king being at all. Don't
(51:21):
agree with certain comedians being the king. The queens are having these issues,
it is, yeah, because nowwe're on bad terms. So somebody to
go out here and expose you noneof this. Nobody didn't know none of
this stuff was going on into somebad terms, some disagreements. Now I'm
finna put out here who you are, what you've done to me. Now
(51:45):
it's like, now you gotta fitmyself now because this interview said something about
me, So now I don't wantpeople look at me in the nat or
like, now I gotta respond.A lot of people were responding when he
was dropping names. A lot ofpeople start responding. Womanique said, so
yeah here we had to respond. But it's like it's not a comedians are
(52:07):
responding now like you made this upthis and that it was a life that
and we never seen this before whereyou have comedians attacking each other now,
yeah, well you know it's theage we live in too, you know
what I mean, where everything youknow, it's monetary to get these to
give yous and you know stuff likethat, and so you know, it's
(52:29):
it's it's a benefit in it forfor people. But I could see clearing
your name where you know, somebodyyou know then say some things about you
that wasn't true, especially when itgoes against something that you completely believe.
But you know that something that youare completely against. You know what I'm
saying that you just don't believe inat all, and you know, and
they're really trying to trying to saythat that's who you are, you know
(52:51):
what I mean, let me letme just give you another another perspective,
you know. But uh, butyeah, it's it's it's kind of messing.
But again, I think it's justthe world that we live in right
now. We're you know, havingaccess to all this type of stuff because
I think, you know, backin the day, if Richard Pryor had
you know, social media, youknow what I'm saying, Like, if
that was just back in the day, you know, when him and you
(53:12):
know, Paul Mooney had issues thatI think he would probably be on somebody's
podcast talking trash about him too,you know what I'm saying. But that's
but we haven't seen it before. We're in a different age, yeah,
right, And we know we hadBill collins back in the day, you
know by Bill collinsby had the cleannot cursing routine, and he was against
Richard Pryor Ednie Murphy language. Butreal possible to use of for our language.
(53:38):
But like I said, it won'ton social media back then. But
just imagine they had social media nowand this stuff they will say, And
let me ask you about this upart as well. I don't got one
more quick for we'll go into it. Uh, do comedians considered doing jokes
on these public figures gonna get caughtup? TD Jakes as an example,
(54:00):
So do commedy consider doing jokes onthese public figures? Get whom get the
called up? He said? Docomedy consider doing jokes on these public figures
who get the caught up? Okay, he was playing saying do comedy considered
doing jokes on public figures that getcaught up? Like there a situation going
(54:21):
on, but comedians would take itand make a joke out of it.
M Uh, I mean yeah, that's been going on for forever. Comedian
has always been, you know, talking about what's going on to be relatable,
you know, because that's stuff thatpeople saying. It's certain things that
I don't touch, you know whatI mean. So I'm not certain things
I'm not gonna ever comment on becausethat's just I just was raised a certain
(54:46):
way, you know what I mean. So, Uh, I'm not gonna
talk about certain things just because they'repopular, you know. So, especially
in the in the age that welive, in where people can just say
anything and people take it wrong withit just because and not not know that
person, you know what I mean. And so you know, at the
at the end of the day, somebody's believing something from somebody who ain't never
(55:09):
interacted with somebody, or somebody's justsaying something because they don't like the way
somebody is successful, you know whatI mean. So there's certain things I'll
never you know, and people thatdo that's on you. But you know,
I know certain things to leave right, yeah, you know, just
like when that's when it came upwith the whole ded thing and stuff like
(55:30):
that, and somebody put out somebodybeing a power bottom. You know,
people want to what a power bottomis that people pulled it up and want
to know what's the definition of powerbottom? You know. So ya,
people do things to just say,oh I see what's more That me as
the transitioning. We know, backin the day when we had the days
(55:52):
of Richard Bryor and the Red Foxand Edie Murphy is you name it,
they can talk about any and everythingand people not offended at all. And
we know people said that back thenthat would just living that was like now
when the generation is, like yousaid, if you say one thing I'm
offended, I'm gonna draw. I'mgonna do a laws suit. So how
(56:12):
is it for comedians? Now we'regoing on stage on how do y'all have
to do? Y'all walk on eggshells? Or how do y'all handle that?
Where everybody want to suit? Everybody? If you say something, I'm offended,
now I'm gonna go sue and howdo how do you ask community y'll
handle this? Just watered down versionof generation that we're in. That's my
(56:37):
Yeah. I mean it's it's somesoft folks out there real, but uh
I personally, you know, Iwant people to feel welcome, you know
what I mean. I want peopleto feel, you know, like stuff
I'm talking about they can laugh atyou know what I mean, like and
not be like can I laugh atthat? You know what I mean?
Like? Yeah, and you knowso so so I don't that's not so.
(57:00):
And I'm not concerned with walking oneggshells because I know that the material
that I that I use, youknow what I mean is you know I'm
trying to I want everybody to Iwant it to be universal. I want
everybody to feel welcome. I wanteverybody to you know, I want to
touch a little bit you know,of anybody that could be in the room,
you know what I mean. Soso I try to so I don't
(57:21):
walk on. Now, some peoplethey don't care. They're just gonna go
out there and say what they wantto say, whether it's offensive or not.
Uh me, I don't want nobodyfeeling bad when they leaveing my show
or you know, all I'm onstage, you know, feeling like I'm
attacking them or I'm I'm calling themout, or you know, I'm making
them feel unwelcomed. You know.So I just kind of try to stay
away from that. And that's justthe personal decision because that's not who I
am. You know, I'm notthat type of person. So I just
(57:44):
in general, I want to feellove coming from me, you know.
And and you know, unless you'reon the football field, yeah yeah,
because yeah, because it is whereyou have we have these conversations and life
time on the show where we maybetalking about relationship and said, now we're
starting to just the elephant in theroom. Well, we're starting to have
(58:07):
these quote unquote uncomfortable conversations. Nowbeing more comfortable talking about things, and
just when you're talking to the hey, I don't want you feel offended or
ask a certain question, someone getsoffended and it's just like it's all about
having fun, all in love, right, But I wouldn't make sure you
(58:28):
good because don't say you good. Then you come back later on five,
ten days, nine to I've offended, but you told me was good.
But look, I'm gonna tell youthis too. And it's another reason why
I don't walk on eggs because atthe end of the day, I know
that you cannot please everybody, youknow what I mean. Something get offended
(58:51):
on something that is not even offensive, you know what I mean. So
it's like I can't care to everysince it's too many different personalities in the
room, you know what I mean. So all I could do is make
sure that I know for a factthat I didn't say anything offensive. So
if you have a problem with somethingthat I said, that's on you,
you know what I mean. It'sa reflection of you and it's not me,
you know what I mean. Soso yeah, so I'm I'm gonna
beat me. And because I knowthat where I come from, I come
(59:14):
from a place of love, youknow what I mean, and I just
want to you know, And andso I don't somebody gonna be offended.
You know what I'm saying. Somebodyis gonna be offended no matter what you
do, no matter how good youare, just being a good person,
just show light, you know whatI mean. So I can't worry about
that, you know, I justgotta be me. Yeah, you got
(59:35):
to, especially not just like whenwe have personal conversations or where do you
mean at the workplace. At theworkplace, we have all types of conversations,
but it's all about being real andwho you are and just hey,
we're talking about this stuff because weknow we had it before where people be
all cool and then later on.So I was offended, but why he
(59:57):
said nothing? Right? Then?Yeah, a lot of cowards in the
world too. So you gotta understandeverybody not built like you, you know,
and that's something that I am veryaware of, you know. So
it's like, Okay, no,that's really not what I said. But
if that's how they want to takeit, all right with, what I
can do is explain what I saidthe wrong way. Yeah, exactly,
don't don't. All right, everybodygonna have their own perception or whatever and
(01:00:22):
it and it's it's it's more ofa reflection O where they are at that
time. You know what I'm saying, and not not who I am and
what I said, right, youknow, And we know there's just Super
Bowl WEEKI and of course you knowit's the four to nine ers and can
see on tomorrow. So will yoube watching the game tomorrow or be Oh
yeah, I got some work todo, So it's I'm I'm gonna have
(01:00:43):
a game on. I don't.I'm I'm not good at just sitting and
watching stud you know what I'm saying. Like one, I get not that
I don't like to do, butI get too involved, you know what
I mean, Like it's so myI'd be anxious. I don't like to
feel anxious. And you know Iused to be a coach, you know
what I mean on coaching at theTV. Don't nobody want to watch TV
with me? Because I'm you knowwhat I mean, I'm talking, I'm
(01:01:05):
super animated if I do watch TV. So I really want to see the
halftime show. I don't really havea dog in a fight, so you
know it doesn't matter to me whowins. I you know I'll watch some
of it, but I'm sure i'llbe walking in and out, you know,
throughout the game, because you know, that's just that's just what I
do with it. But when I'mwatching, I'll be really involved, right,
you know. And I respect theathlete's mindset because at the end of
(01:01:27):
the day, all them guys wantto be great. I mean, you
got some who just will collect thepaycheck, you know, more power to
you. But you got some who'sall about legacy. And I know you
are a woman who's about legacy. And that's how about leaving your mark on
this world because we know one daywe hear tomorrow and you but at the
end of today, it's all aboutleaving your legacy that if you carry on
(01:01:51):
for generations to come. So howdo a virtual want to be remembered?
After the dog sitting do was?I know you're still a young woman and
you still have working to do.Game tres Ever, they say, I
ain't stressed. Yeah, yeah,I ain't scratched service yet. But but
I I, like I said,you know, it's just a recurring thing
for me. Uh. I justI want to be a vessel of light
and love, you know what.I mean, And that's what I want
(01:02:12):
to I want people to say, man, you know what I ran.
I ran into her, you knowwhat I'm saying, And she she was
the same every time I ran intoher. You know what I'm saying,
Like, you know, yeah,we all have bad days, but I'm
not gonna display that to you.You know what I'm saying. I'm not
gonna put that on you all.I'm just gonna show you light and love,
you know what I mean. Sothat's what I want people to remember
me by. Its just being somebodythat love people, you know what I
(01:02:34):
mean. I you know, andand want people to you know, be
on that be on that higher vibration. That's what I want to probably just
a higher vibration and and and andinspire somebody to say, hey, man,
you know what she she went tobattle with herself and had to get
past herself, which is yourself isyour biggest opponent. You are your biggest
opponent. You know what I'm saying. That voice in your head that's telling
(01:02:58):
you can't do that, or orthat fear, you know what I mean,
and you got to you gotta pushthrough that. So if I just
inspire somebody to say man. Sheshe went from not even being able to
hold the microphone on stage to havingall this charisma and being able to just
trifie herself and be confident. Youknow, I love that about her.
You know, that's what I wouldwant somebody to remember me by. It's
just my heart, you know. And that's what's up. And you know,
(01:03:22):
I think one more quick, quickcommercial break and then we're gonna jump
right back into accumulate the conversation withour final remarks and all the other good
stuff, because we don't need isSaturday, and you are a woman of
business, Talora, make shall wantto hold you up. Someone do one
more commercial break, ladies and gentlemen, and then we're gonna wrap it on
up and after that when everybody havea great, great weekend. You don't
(01:03:43):
have to be right one time. You don't have to figure it all out
in advance. You can be wrong. You can pick the wrong career,
you can pick the wrong job,you can pick the wrong spouse, you
can pick the wrong whatever. Butyou get it right one time, you're
set. But if you don't try, you'll never get that one time.
Mm hmm. Hey, what's upeverybody? We're back here on the Walk
in this Way. Impact was podcastwith my giars A Burda acception with me
(01:04:08):
in the studio. She's a strangeron the sl this show. Yeah,
third time that he was on theon the platform. Yeah yeah, my
third time. Yeah yeah. AndI think you for giving me the opportunity
interview because I always get better andbetter at all time. I appreciate you
well. Also, so now youhave you have an event coming up this
coming Tuesday. Correct, let usknow what time on what people can spit
(01:04:32):
with. It's gonna be located atCity can really come on out and sport.
All right. So so this Tuesday, I'm gonna be at the Addison
Emperor trying to see what time it'sthat Selma seven thirty. Uh, it's
on my facetuff follow me right there, Alberta underscore underscore comedy. That's the
Derry Jack and Friends show. Wegot some some amazing comedian it's gonna be
(01:04:54):
on there and the stage of theBoa Dexter Given Jr. It's gonna be
a dope show. I'm also sogonna be at the Arlington Improv on Sunday
the eighteenth with Casey Casey Sticks CaseyEvans, Casey Evans and Friends. So
that's gonna be another dope show tocome out too. That one definitely starts
at seven o'clock on Sunday. Youcan also inbox me if you want to
(01:05:17):
have I keet you on my guestlist for free tickets. So just just
hit me up and be interested incoming out. I'd love to have you
at the show with my guests.Man, that's what's up right there.
So I know, keep up thegreat work and all the other stuff.
Let me ask you one more question. How has that really when it comes
to women comedians the men comedians? How has it when it comes to women,
(01:05:41):
how they treated their braces? BecauseI know it's like, well,
women that especially be more sexual andthings of that nature. Instead of just
focusing more to guilt, they wantto be more focused on your sex appeal.
So how has that really been withwomen when it comes to being in
the world look at me? Whenit comes with the men, well,
(01:06:01):
I mean I can't. I mean, of course everybody's gonna say something different,
you know what I mean from myperspective. For me, you know,
I just be myself, you know, I don't worry about what people
help people be thinking, you knowwhat I mean what people be thinking it?
And people embrace me. They loveme for who I am. You
know what I'm saying, Just justsing me because I'm gonna be myself every
(01:06:26):
single time. You're not gonna belike see me one day and then be
like see me the next time. And I'm I'm acting different. You know,
I might not remember who you are, but I'm still like you know,
I might not remember your name.I might be like, dang,
I know you from somewhere. Hey, get your hug anyway, you know
what I mean? Like, that'sjust to who I am. I see
people in the story like, hey, how bird like too many? But
(01:06:53):
don't you really hate that? Iwon't say worry hate, but that's it's
like they remember you like you knowwhat I mean? And and and honestly,
when I see people like I haveto, I have to see when
I have to. I've always beenlike this though, I have to associate
you with something like if you ifyou're in a relationship with somebody and I'm
(01:07:15):
just seeing you with that person, and I still you away from that person.
When I see you, it's gonnabe like I'm I'm gonna speak because
you look familiar, but I don'tknow where I know you're from, you
know what I'm saying. And thenI'll be like oh yeah, and then
I'll hug you even different, likeokay, let me give a little tighter
hood. But like I've always beenlike that, like I'll meet I mean
because I don't really look at you, you know what I'm saying, like
(01:07:36):
I could. I'm one of thosepeople that could be talking to you and
and be looking at you but notreally seeing you know what I'm saying.
I can't. I can't tell theofficer what you what you look like,
you know what I'm saying. I'mlike, oh dang, no, I
know I was talking to him forhours, but I don't. I can't
tell you. You know what I'msaying. I can't give you no description
because he took his hat off,you know. You know what I'm saying.
(01:07:56):
So I'm just that person. Butbut yeah, that does happen,
like you know, because you know, I played football with the corporate America,
you know, and I always haveside kids, you know. So
for me to see somebody that thatI that look familiar, you know,
outside of where I know them from, I'm always like that, like,
hey, just I'm gonna show youlove regardless. I don't know who you
(01:08:18):
are right now, I think aboutit, but you know, but that's
just what is that bird about thatwe don't want to I don't want to
say the word of thing. WhatI guess if to them like we don't
care. As a way, it'slike names, like yeah, they know
your name, but it's like yay, hey girl, look at you,
(01:08:42):
y'all. I'll do that in asecond. If I don't remember, if
I don't know your name, theyhear somebody say they name, and then
okay, that's their name, becauseI'm like there too, they can know
me. But then it's like, hey, it was up, don't remember
their name, but it was thenI don't want to ask the name because
I don't think to feel like Iwasn't paying attention. I have to wait
(01:09:03):
to hear somebody say that exactly exactly. But you know, I still show
love regardless because it's like, youknow, obviously not an enemy because I
will remember you. You know, yeah, like I remember that, but
you know so obviously it's all lovecame with me in love, so I'm
gonna it's the same energy as Iwould, you know if I knew your
name, you know, so,uh, that's just that's just how just
(01:09:28):
finish yll that's just time I gotto associated change your shirt. I only
I was looking at the shirt withthe red shirt and then change the shirt.
I don't know who you are now, I know. It's just like
people like you may asciated with symptomwith something. They may did something silly.
Oh that's like yeah anyway, Uhso I'm having to hold you up.
(01:09:50):
I know you're a very productive woman. So you got what else you
got coming up? And you gotto be coming up. Let me ask
you this, s I know youdo a lot of holes and you are
on stage. So what you likedoing? You like working behind the scenes.
Oh and kind of you do alot of that to work behind the
scenes with hopes and and things likethat. So which ones you like doing
(01:10:11):
the most? Well, all ofthem the most. But I do you
know, I just like I enjoyinteracting with the with with the people,
you know what I mean? Andand to be honest, I really do
enjoy given comedians a platform, youknow what I'm saying, to have a
show, to be able to invitepeople out to see them, you know,
display their talent. You know,so it's not always about me.
(01:10:32):
I love you know, I lovedoing that. You know. I'm looking
forward to doing more of that intwenty twenty four, you know what I
mean. And you know, Iwant to be in a position where I
can fill a room myself with sothat people don't have to be worried about
a sell these tickets, you knowwhat I mean, or you know anything
like that, just say hey, come be at your best. That's what
(01:10:55):
I want you to do, isjust show up, do your thing,
not worry about you know, gettingpeople in the door, get me on
the door. That's fine. ButI want to be in a position to
give that to them because that's athat's a beautiful gift to give a comedian
as a crowd, you know whatI mean. Like that's man talking about
somebody act up, give them acrowd, you know what I mean.
(01:11:15):
So so that's that's something I reallydo. I really do enjoy that part
of providing a platform. So I'mdefinitely gonna get back to that uh this
year as well. But I mean, but I love interacting with the people.
So it's it's hard. It's ahard, hard choice, but you
know I do it's nothing nothing betterthan that drive on my even had a
great show, right cause we knowa lot of people make that transition from
(01:11:39):
being in front of the people nowworking behind the scenes with being a producers
and producers and directors and right froma whole different spin. So when you
we're doing more of that, beingmore a producer, a sec producer.
I know you are promoters, waypromoter on working behind the scenes and like
(01:12:01):
you said, given other individual platform, but at the end of the day,
it's all having relationships, but puttingthe other individuals out before a crowd.
That's a blessed anyway, giving backto help them take their career to
the next step because I know youhave people look out for you when you
first No, it's like, okay, I have people look out for me.
Now I want to look at forthe upcomers that's coming out. So
(01:12:25):
that's a beautiful thing to just givingback at all time. Yeah, absolutely,
we are. My show on Tuesdayis that seven thirty, okay at
the Addison and Fride, like saythat Sunday show is it is at seven
o'clock and then I have another showthe following week on the twentieth at that
(01:12:47):
following Tuesday and Plano at the PlaneHouse of Comedy. So I'll have a
complimentary tickets for that one as well. Like I say, just inbox me
there alberta underscore comedy or hit meup on my Facebook page. I offered
the exception. I and Marsh Igot a couple of shows coming up as
well. I'm gonna be I'm gonnabe in Dallas at the spot called the
(01:13:10):
back Room on March the eighth andthe ninth with comedian uh Flo Hernandez and
Chris Hopkins. That's gonna be adope show right there. Uh. And
then I've got another show coming upon March twenty second with Dextra Givings Dextra
Slavatory. That's gonna be a dopeshow. It's gonna be uh in Dallas
at Snoop's Events Center. So it'sgonna be fun. So that's some that's
(01:13:35):
some some good shows coming up,man, So y'all just follow me and
I'll be posting flyers and everything.Hey, man, that's what's up as
well. I appreciate you gain withtake your time on your schedule, and
I said, I don't want tohold you up. I know you got
some things you gotta do. Ladies, jummy, enjoy yet Saturday. I
know it's raining outside. Uh,it's just be careful when you out there
(01:13:58):
on the streets on the road.Remember, people drive crazy, so be
careful out there. Make sure youhave your car insurance as well. Also
makes you have your insurance. Peoplejust got crazy that want to throw that
flood at there. But most point, man, y'all be careful and be
safe out there and will be backTuesday night at the Prime times at seven
pm to them. Man, y'allbe built one more thing birth. You
(01:14:19):
have any final remarks, any soundthe wisdom that you want to share here
with the audience that's watching us rightnow and we'll watch it in the near
future and also that will listen tous on our heart and Spotify and Apple
podcast. Uh yeah, absolutely so. One thing I would say is,
you know, the battle against yourselfis not just you. Everybody goes through
(01:14:44):
it, you know, but absolutelyhave everything that you need within you to
uh to to win that battle andbecome the person that you that you want
to be. You need to visualizeit right. The second thing I would
say is have grace with yourself,U because you're not gonna You're not gonna
always you know, you might havebeen at tend to have to start back
over, you know, at one, to get to twenty, right,
(01:15:06):
eleven or twenty, So to justhave that grace, give yourself that grace
in that time to learn and tolearn and to grow and just know that
we're constantly growing, and you know, and give other people that same grace,
you know, don't you know, just make sure you give them the
same grace that you would expect tohave in your life as well. So
(01:15:28):
could we all, like you saidat off top, we're all going through
something. Everybody's battling something, andmost of the time we're battling within ourselves.
So so behind each other, anduh, shine that light and show
love more love is needed and abrochure. Hey, that's what's up right
there. So we got this thing. Listen, gentlemen, you have a
great Saturday, Enjoy your weekend. You know, love, be loved,
(01:15:51):
all of the good stuff, workingyour goals, chase your dreams and your
dream to reality. Like sen youout this thing, man, y'all be
blessed, peace, blessed. Ihapp
