Speaker 3 (00:25):
Hey Dave, how you doing. It's good to be back
on to the podcast. It's been quite some time.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yeah, man, it's good to talk to you about watches again. Dude.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah, it's long overdue, I think.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Yeah, you're Yeah, hey man, you're super busy.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
What can I say? Do the best we can.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Well, you know I can join you whenever I can
always need me.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Oh no, it's just more fun when there's two people.
But yeah, in the future.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Yeah, I'm not gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
Bug you as much. I know how busy you are.
But when you can, just let me know. We'll record
have fun.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Sounds good. So, Dave, did you watch much of the Olympics?
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I watched as much as CBC would air.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Okay, so you watch them live or you watch them
like kind of replay on YouTube or something.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
So I just wake up extra early, try to watch
where they can.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
There's a few times.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, there's a few times I've gone to YouTube to
watch other countries that CBC only airs the Canadian athletes.
So I had to go to YouTube to watch other
countries if I want to see them compete. But more
specifically ray Gun from Australia, who's that.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
She's a great dad.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Come on, everyone's been, you know, pooping on that poor woman.
I thought she was a highlight of the Olympics.
Speaker 1 (02:10):
I had to see her performance for myself, and to
be honest, yeah, it wasn't Olympic caliber, but she could
break better than I can, that's for sure.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well you and I, Yes, yes, me definitely. I'm way
too old to be doing that. But having said that,
she's an Olympian day and that's the best they could
bring to the table for the whole country. That's pretty sad. Nevertheless,
it was very very amusing.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
It was amusing.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
She wasn't really breakdancing, to be.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Honest, like I said, breakdancing, she's probably better than me.
Like I saw a headspin, I don't think I could
even do a headstand.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
Oh, We're gonna talk about Reagan for the whole podcast,
because I've seen countless memes and some of them are
just too funny.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah, I've seen a lot of memes. I don't think
it's fair to be honest. If this is the best
Australia can do, then hey man, I think it takes
guts and bravery to do that. You know, look at
the Jamaican bob sled team. If I'm not mistaken, they
(03:29):
flipped their cart on their first turn or the second turn.
They didn't do so well, but they were representing Jamaica
in the bob sled team, and I think it took
guts for what they did.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
You know, you're talking a long time ago for a
Caribbean nation to compete in a Winter Olympics. That definitely
takes guts. But nobody knows their names. Rachel Gunn is
infamous now. You can't go anywhere without anybody talking about her.
(04:03):
Everybody knows her. She's a household name.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
She is, she is, and again I think she should
be commended for her bravery.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
She definitely has some balls, some nice steel balls. Because yes,
you're right, she's overly qualified. Did you know she has
a PhD in breakdancing or about the subject. I did
not know that she's a elect She's a PhD holder
(04:36):
and Her thesis was on breakdancing to get her PhD.
Isn't that incredible? And she also lectures at Australia.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Like I'm alown away. That's cool.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
Well, unfortunately that's all fine and dandy, but you and
I both know she doesn't know how to break dance.
It was actually quite sad. She scored zero points.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Although better breakdancer than me.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Just say yes, you and I both combined.
Speaker 1 (05:09):
Now we're talking about the Olympics. Omega was a sponsor,
so let's bring it back to watches.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Yes, before we do that, what watch would be good
for Reaga? What would you give her to wear?
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Like, do you mean like an Omega or just any watch?
Speaker 3 (05:32):
Any watch? I don't think she deserves an Omega. Oh
that's not nice. That's not nice.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Oh man, that's something I watched. Snob would say.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
I would give her. Sorry to interrupt you, but if
they made this, I would make her a kangaroo snoopy speedy.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Oh, that'd be perfect because of this is Omega, an aquaterra,
maybe an aquatera with like.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
You suggested, kangaroo.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah, it's right, anti shock, right, she's developing all that
static electricity on some of her dance moves.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Right? My favorite move from her is the the surface
cleaner where she does that full three sixty circle.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
I know, I know you like that move.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
You don't why because I bought a surface cleaner recently
and when she did that I almost fell over.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Oh this poor woman.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
I don't want to rain on her parade. She's been
amazing in terms of getting people to talk about the
Olympics post Olympics, right.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Yeah, she is, you know, making not only breaking relevance,
but having breaking in the Olympics relevant and also we're
not going to forget about Paris Olympics thanks to her.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Well, she's definitely breaking social media. So she's breaking something.
Speaker 1 (07:20):
Yeah, I just hope she's handling it.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Well, apparently she's not. From I've read an article that
she's she feels like everyone's just disrespecting her.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Fuck oh man, too funny.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Truth hurts lady.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Well that's not her fault, but that. Yeah, let's get
back to watches. Okay, okay, have you seen the Paris
Omega watches?
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I definitely have. Yeah, Omega Official Timekeeper third for the
thirty first time. Something I want to talk about before
we talk about watches. Have you seen their starting pistol?
Speaker 2 (08:06):
No, I haven't.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
I have an electronic starting pistol. It looks for like
since twenty ten or whatever. But I just noticed that
it's quite cool looking. It's very white, departure from the
original starter pistol. It's electronic device that looks like a
sex toilet.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Okay, I will google it.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
I will probably hate this comment, but I'll keep it in.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
I will check it out.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
You know what, since you know, I'll just google it
right now? Sure, And oh my god, I have no
idea what Kevin's talking about.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
It is cool looking.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
It looks like it looks like what I walk my
dog with those retractable leashes. Is very cool people acadel
and again, yeah, Kevin, I don't know what.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
I don't know. Wait, no comment, no comment?
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Are you sure?
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Omit? You are a strange fellow for sure? All right.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Where I'm from here. On some of the billboards there
there were Omega was showcasing the chronoscopes.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Yes, for the Olympics.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
I think there's only three different types of Omega watches
for the Paris twenty four Olympics. But within each type
of Omega watch, there are lots of variations what you want?
Do you want to start with the the seamaster diver.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
It doesn't matter, we can start with whichever.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
Oh you were talking, my apologies, you were talking about
the chronoscope. Let's talk about the chronoscopes.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
First.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
With the chronoscope, they're pretty much uh, steal on steel,
gold on leather, steal on leather, and then of course
their famous Moonshine gold.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
Mm hmmm, yeah, which one is your favorite?
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Just at a glance, I would say gold on leather.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Gold on black, black leather strap. Yeah, those are the
watch fanatics colors of how are you well? That's that's
obviously my go to colors. And the black pops with
the gold casing definitely my favorite.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
Something just to be admired because at thirty two thousand
dollars yeah, not my budget though, your budget, not mine.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Not mine? Thirty two k with leather strap.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
You know, it's ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
How much is the.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
The Moonshine the gold bracelet one's at fifty one thousand.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Fifty one thousand US. It's sixty nine to nine Canadian.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Oh sorry, yes, this is US price.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
And the leather strap is that much cheaper? No, my friend,
it's forty four to five Canadian.
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Thirty two seven hundred American Sorry.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Okay, okay, that's huge money. It's insane, very unaffordable for anybody. Sorry,
unless you're a lister Celebrian not gonna be spending this
kind of coin on an omega.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Is this watchworth that kind of money? Yes, it's it's
a chronoscope that has a million features besides chronograph, it's
a Master chronometer. YadA, ya YadA. It's great and all,
but that's a lot of money in my opinion. But hey,
I'm sure somebody will take it, yes, because it has
(12:05):
the case back, has the Paris twenty twenty four logo
on it.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Do you know if it's limited?
Speaker 3 (12:14):
I am not sure. I don't think it's a limited series.
Doesn't say limited from what I can see.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Well, like you said, there's gonna be people who are
into the case back as well as the box, you know,
this special Olympic box.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I think there will be a limited number of buyers,
especially for the Moonshine bracelet.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Yes, yeah, I agree.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
And yeah, what do you think about I know you
brought up the Sea Master. What do you think about
this Sea Master diver for Paris twenty twenty four.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
It's a mixed bag. It's the bezel is in bronze
or is it in gold? Still look like a gold medal,
but I don't think it very works very well with
a steel case in my opinion.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Yeah, I think they're using that Moonshine gold again for.
Speaker 3 (13:11):
The bezel's moonshine. I like the.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Case back, the case back, I love.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Yes, it's eighteen K moonshine gold bezel.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
In the second hand. I love it's got a little
flame at the tip of the second hand.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
Yes, definitely. The Paris twenty twenty four logo. He speaking
of logo, what do you think of this logo? Does
it look like a flame to you? Does it look
like a woman's face? Do you notice that?
Speaker 1 (13:42):
What? Oh, it looks like a flame to me. But
now that you say a woman's face, I could see that.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
You see the outline with her with her mouth?
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Yeah, totally.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Oh, like a Disney character, like a flame type person female?
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Interesting?
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Yeah again American eight thousand, nine hundred. It looks like
a tag aqua racer a little bit.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Mm hmm. Yeah, but eight nine hundred no way hard
passed for me.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yeah, you're I think you're better off with like a
steel on steel Speedmaster chronoscope versus a Seamster diver.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
There are a million iterations of sea Masters. I don't
think that would be the one i'd buy. Maybe someone
else might want that, but definitely not my cup of tea.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Not mine either, No for that price.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
See, if I was buying a sea Master, I would
go for the wave dial, either in a blue or black.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
I agree. I agree with you.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
Yeah, I'm sure it's going to speak to someone. I mean,
I'm sure some of these athletes were getting these watches too, right, Yes,
because I did see a few athletes with the watches,
and so I just assumed Omega has given them or
(15:20):
gifted these watches to them.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Yeah, at least the ones that they sponsored athletes. I
guess you can call the one. Yeah, like Noah Lyles
one hundred meter champion and two hundred I think that
was Did you see that race? That was very controversial.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
I didn't see it in real time. I saw YouTube.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Yeah, but he won by like four thousands of a second.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I don't know, man, I believe, like, come on, man,
just make it a tie, you know, give out two
metals that this I don't know man.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Like, hey, we have accurate timekeeping Biomega.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
That is true.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
I mean, this is why we need accurate time at
a sporting event. But at the same time, as a competitor,
I guess people aren't happy with a tie. They do
want to know who's faster, who's quicker.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
They essentially tied, you'd never know, yeah, just looking at it,
no one would ever know. But he won, he has
the goal. Somebody's gonna get the gold. He can't give
two golds out. I don't believe in that.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
So not a controversial win. Then in your opinion, you
don't believe in two golds.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
It wasn't controversial as controversial in the fact that he
won by four thousands of a second, which yeah, only
detectable with high technology, which is unfortunate for the guy
who came in silver.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
I hear you.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
That's why I believe in two gold medals would have
been appropriate. But you do not believe in two gold medals.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Unfortunately, I have to stick with Omega timekeepers, as they
were able to decipher who is slightly so slightly faster
than the second place.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
I'm sure the athletes feel that way too.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Yeah, somebody's got to win. If no allows just one
by a nose, then he you know, he deserves the gold.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
I couldn't care either way.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
If they gave out two golds or they just went
gold silver. I'm all for sports uniting the globe, you
know what I mean, Like, if that's going to help
unite the globe, then so be it.
Speaker 3 (17:55):
No, I think that would cause more rage, do you
think so? I think so? I don't give two golds.
That's like, why don't you give the who's going to
get the silver? Then?
Speaker 2 (18:06):
Wait?
Speaker 1 (18:06):
Didn't they do that for I jumping? They gave out
two golds.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Yeah, that's a different sport altogether, though that has nothing
to do at time.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
Right, that's a good point. Good point.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Yeah, Hey, getting back to watches, there's one more watch
that we didn't talk about. That's a Paris twenty twenty
four Omega And this is my favorite.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Which one?
Speaker 3 (18:29):
It's the bronze gold edition?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Oh right, right, like.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
A heritage style. Yes, this is my kind of watch,
thin class.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
This is a Kevin watch for sure.
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Visually I would wear if it was not. If you
remove the one in front of it, the price tag that.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Is, Yeah, it's quite expensive.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
Deep, it's step sixteen three Canadian, Yeah, twelve US. It's
a pretty penny, but it's a pretty watch.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
And again has to be noted it's on the leather strap.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, I don't mind that much with this style of watch.
It's not a gold watch. It's a bronze watch with
very little gold in it. It's more bronze in my opinion.
But it does have goldish tone to it.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Right, Oh, it looks beautiful like people, please google. It
is a gorgeous looking watch and it definitely has a
nice vintage feel or I should say a nice vintage
look to it.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Very nice.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
And how about that dial? That dial is to die for.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Beautiful.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
I like texture dials and lots of texture on this dial.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Beautiful.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
That's reminiscent of some high end watches. Is that what
do you call that?
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Not quite a gelosh?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
But is that the right style of dial? Glosh is
more of like a Parisian.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
This is more almost like a waffle my opinion.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Yeah, yeah, waffles.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Look gloche has a little bit a curve and the
size the gradient is the right word, I guess.
Speaker 2 (20:35):
But beautiful.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Yeah, I would rock this all day long.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
I gotta say, folks, I hope you all check it out.
Check out Omega website. Check out these watches. They're pretty
cool if you haven't already. I know it's post Olympics,
but I think, honestly, with the thanks of ray gun
we're going to be talking about this Olympics for the
next four years. And if you're lucky enough to get
(21:03):
and if you're lucky enough to have one of these watches,
I guarantee you ray gunn is gonna pop up whenever
you take your watch out to dinner and show someone.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I feel bad for her. She can't show her face
in public anymore.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
I would give her a hug and say she was
very brave.
Speaker 3 (21:24):
I would just walk up to her and do that
kangaroo post.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Well, that's what it is. It's a kangaru post. Maybe
she's representing Ah.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
You figured out.
Speaker 3 (21:37):
You just got that now, dude.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
I just thought this was I just thought it was bad,
some new dance move, but you're right. It's like kangaroup posts.
All right, folks, I hope you enjoyed the show. We'll
talk to you soon.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
Yeah, thanks again for having me on, Dave, and we'll
do it again shortly.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Cool Cool,
