Speaker 1 (00:02):
You're listening to watch fanatics podcasts. If you'd like, you
can follow me David at watch Fanatic David or Kevin
at watch fanatics dot Ca. Please subscribe and feel free
to leave us a five star review on wherever you
download your podcasts. We hope you enjoy the show. Hello everyone,

(00:28):
welcome back. Hope everyone enjoyed our last episode with Carol.
It was fun. She had fun, and I definitely hope
you guys had fun. She will be back for more episodes.
I have so much more to ask her, so many
more topics to discuss. She will be back, But saying

(00:51):
that it does not mean Kevin won't be joining us.
He is a very busy person and he will be
joining us whenever he can as well. Just because we
might hear more from Carol than from Kevin doesn't mean
he's absent. He's just busy. In fact, he did send
me a message about a guy on Facebook selling vintage Sikos.

(01:15):
He had a ton of Vincent Sekos. We'll probably get
into a discussion of that. However, he also sent me
a post about brass pointer date, the Orris Pointer date.
I know he's been really wanting one. He's always looked
at them. He always brings it up as a watch

(01:39):
that he'd want to own one day, and I think
this article means he's probably closer to it. And I
got to say he's a very careful purchaser. It's not
a matter of if, it's a matter of when. And
hopefully he has good news. Maybe he did get one.
I don't know, but we'll find out when we talk

(02:01):
to him. And I also know he wants to talk
about his daily the tisoprx. We know he uses that
as a daily He's been one of the first people
to purchase the tisoprx. He's gone through some stuff with it.
I'm sure he wants to share. Maybe you guys have
a similar story. Let's hope we find out soon. Today,

(02:25):
I do want to talk about the Toronto Timepiece show
that is next week. Today is September twenty second. The
show will run from September twenty seventh, twenty eighth to
twenty ninth, and I will be talking about that. I
am going to be attending, So even though we're talking

(02:45):
about today, we're going to talk about more of it
after I've been there, and I'll have a lot more
to say. But before we get there. I just want
to talk to you about Swatch and and Omega. They
are now selling their Planet Swatch Omega collaborations online. You

(03:07):
no longer have to go to the store for the
original Swatch collaborations with Omega. They are now available online.
So that's good news for those who want to get
one and are nowhere near a Swatch store. I also
have found in the past when I've gone to Swatch
their inventory is ify so seeing them online means, hey,

(03:29):
you don't take a chance by traveling to a Swatch store.
You know it's in stock online and it's convenient. But
let's get back to the Toronto time Peace Show first
of all, if you aren't and you haven't yet, start
following them at Toronto Timepiece Show. One word. I first

(03:49):
heard about the show back last year in the later
half of twenty twenty three. I actually thought when I
did see the post it was for a show in
twenty twenty three. I was mistaken. It is for this year,
September twenty seven, eight twenty nine, And I gotta say
it is nice to know that it's been in the

(04:10):
works force such a long time, because you know, Jason
is put together a show that is not rushed. It
tells me that he cares about the quality of the show,
he cares about what the vendors will think, he cares
about what the watch community thinks, and it tells me
that he wants a show to be a success on

(04:33):
all levels, and doing so, I hope means will be
seeing many, many, many, many more of these shows in Toronto.
I feel that the Toronto time Piece Show is very significant,
not only for the city of Toronto, but also for

(04:54):
the watch community. Now. I think it's important for Toronto
because it's gonna give us a a little bit of
recognition internationally globally. It's kind of like when you hear Shanghai, Geneva, Chicago, Austin,
you automactually start to think of a particular show. So

(05:15):
in the future, when you hear a watch community and Toronto,
hopefully we'll think about the Toronto time Peace Show. And
I think we will because it sounds like it's gonna
be a show full of great brands, but also a
great lineup of special guests. This show will bring together
like minded people and just like a community, we're all

(05:38):
gonna be aware of each other. We're gonna create a
network We're gonna be able to share knowledge in a safe,
hopefully non judgmental way. But hey, we're watching people. There's
gonna be lots of judgment, but it's gonna be safe.
But more importantly, we're gonna see other watch fans, and

(05:59):
other fans will have a chance to see us. I
know this might seem like a stretch for other people,
but I truly believe the Toronto time Piece show rates
a stronger closely knit watch community. Now what the show
also does, It's going to highlight the culture within our community.

(06:21):
When I explain culture and watches to people, I'd like
to sometimes bring up an analogy of a cafeteria in
a high school. I feel like a high school cafeteria
is a perfect description of our culture. You have the
sport watches, which are the jocks. We have art students,

(06:42):
the art people, and they would be the ones who
like aesthetics. We have the preps, they're more interested in
brands and maybe dress watches. We have the outdoors people
or the military brats or what have you, and they

(07:04):
like the field watches. You have the engineers or the geeks,
whatever you might want to call. They are probably more
interested in the engineering and technology and innovation behind watches.
We have the counterculture, which again could speak to some

(07:24):
of the collaborations like Swatch and skateboards and g Shock
and the Wu Tang clan for example. I don't know
if your school had this. We also had like the
Finance Bros. You know, again a little bit of branding,
but they're like talking about resale and price tags more

(07:50):
than anything. We also have that group of kids that
like every watch, No, every watch, the general public watch,
the general knowledge watch. Yeah, so you got all that happening.
So this culture, this community all brought together and can

(08:12):
be experienced at the Toronto Timepiece Show. I am excited.
I hope you guys are. If you're not going, hopefully
you can find someone who has a spare pass that
you can go. I think it's going to be a
worthwhile experience. Now for today, let's go over some of
the brands. The great brands. I've seen some of them.

(08:34):
I'll just list them. So Platinum sponsors, brands, we got
Christopher Ward, great Company ors. We just talked about Ors, Straps,
co Fantastic Watches. I know so many people have straps
co Straps and they have only good things to say.

(08:56):
Then we go on to the diamond sponsors. There I
stope Colorado Watch Company, Jack Mason, Vordic Watch Company. Vordic
by the way, I'm dying to see some of their stuff.
They take like old American pocket watches and turn them

(09:19):
into wristwatches. If I'm not mistaken, military watches. That whole
genre is basically pocket watches being attached to straps and
then being attached to our soldiers. Those are what we
know is wristwatches. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm not

(09:39):
saying that's how the wristwatch was born, because I do
believe it actually was cart that started creating wristwatches. Correct
me if I'm wrong people, I might be wrong, but
I know they were turning jewelry and incorporating watches and
jewelry for women before where we start strapping pocket watches

(10:02):
to straps. But regardless, Vortic Watch Company they have some
beautiful pieces. You can find them online. I'm dying to see.
I can't I can't wait to see them in real
life in person. There's Manaise, the company from Japan, Fears

(10:25):
Marathon local company, and then there's Fairer. Next is our
Gold sponsors. There's Circula, Zenia, Wilk watch Works, Locke and King.
They got gorgeous time pieces. They're from Hamilton, outside of Toronto.

(10:48):
I'm in love with some of their brass pieces. Whippy
Watch Company again, if you're a friend of the show,
you know how much I love them. I'm excited to
see them. In fact, I think I will wear a
Whitby watch to the show to show my deep respect
to them. There's a Swiss watch company, standard h Terry

(11:12):
Crafted will be there. If I'm not mistaken, they're involved
with leather straps aris are ours. Sorry if I'm saying
it wrong. An American tool watch manufacturer avan to Valley.
I know that's a company I want to keep an

(11:33):
eye on because they are from Taiwan, and I want
to visit Taiwan one day, and that's a company I
wanted to learn more about, so hopefully I can talk
to them. Duckworth Press Techs is going to be at
the show as well. Far and Swit will be there.

(11:54):
And I gotta hide my wallet because there is a
watch I want to buy from there, one cheap, one expensive.
I'll probably buy the cheaper one. Hint. It's a digital
watch with a nod to cassette tapes, the studio Underdog Celtan.
Oh boy, I gotta say, I cannot bring my wallet.

(12:18):
Celtan has some beautiful watches. Spara is also a gold
sponsor that has no bounds is another strap company from
Hong Kong. They'll be there. Visitor watch company micro Millspec

(12:41):
Loco Ocroft at Ten at t En, Wow, they have
some beautiful dials people check out at ten. I have
my only hesitation with at ten in the past was
they moved their numbers onto the crystals, so I was
not sure how it looks really, But now I get

(13:03):
to see them and it will help me make a
decision on when to purchase anette watch. Varrio will be there.
Varrio has a beautiful reversal. I've been checking them out
for a long time. I want the reversal and it's
a very nice looking reversal. Actually, I can't say reversal,

(13:26):
I should say two face maybe or dual time. But
their gorgeous. I wanted one for a long long time.
I think as watch seller Gembiju. They'll be there. Bruno
Solheim they're from Glashuta, Baltic watch Venezianico will be there.

(13:56):
Core fifty to eighty Watch Company, Brew Watch Company. Oh,
I think they are beautiful watches. There's uh Secolia, t
s I k O, l I A. They're going to
be there. Came Loki Stella, Timeless Feynman at Tillie Win

(14:24):
and they got some beautiful dress watches at tilli a Win,
g O at daly A. Jaliper will also be there.
And oh they have a beautiful connection with the automobive
world too. Elliott Brown, March Lab, March Lab. There's a
French company. I've seen their promos way back, maybe six

(14:48):
seven years ago on YouTube. Beautiful promos, beautiful watches. I
remember they mainly had Quartzes, but I do know they
have automatics now. Hairn Watch Company again. I think they're
in Montreal, Canadian company Beautiful. I know they had a

(15:10):
few with case backs with Aaron's engraved in it. Beautiful. Oh,
the Empire Group there, they're great for watch repairs, clock repairs.
I saw them at the time and shein show last year.
They were really good. Just watch Me is coming and
I think they're coming with Zeppelin. Then we got the

(15:32):
Meadow Watch and Hamden Watch company is coming and rounding
out the Gold sponsors is the Optical Tailor and they
do ie wear I Wear. It goes also well with watches,
so they'll be there. So a lot of people to

(15:54):
talk to. There, a lot of people to see, a
lot of watches, straps and rulers or retailers. Wow, I'm excited.
This is a lot. This is going to be a
great show. Go to Toronto Time Peace Show website. You
can see the brands and links there and they also
have special guests. Take a look at the special guests yourself.

(16:21):
I could easily just list them off, but to be honest,
I don't know them. I don't know some of these well,
some of them I follow on Instagram, but I don't
want to comment them on as people because I don't
know them well. I feel safe doing that as a

(16:41):
brand because watches are are things without emotions. But people,
I don't want to screw up their name or who
they are, or I don't want to misrepresent any one
of them, but to know that they're at the show,
and I rather their quick bio and seeing some of
these great people on Instagram. I think it's just going

(17:03):
to add to the show and I'm excited to meet
each and every one of them. I mean, I got
to thank them for being taking the time out and
joining Toronto Timepiece Show, because that's really cool that they're
giving up their time to meet us all and to
help the Toronto Time Peace Show and help Toronto. So
thank you, special guests. Thank you very much, because much

(17:28):
like Jason and the Toronto Time Peace Show, you guys
are contributing to our community and culture. Much like Michael
Saliba I interviewed him a while back. He's a director,
producer of Keeper of Time documentary. If it wasn't for
people like them, the watch community wouldn't grow. And Michael

(17:53):
Saliba that Keeper of Time documentary. Guys, people find this documentary,
it is amazing. You're gonna be blown away. You're gonna
even fall more in love with watches. The Keeper of
Time is a wonderful film. Anyways, I think that's it
for now. Like I said, I will talk more about

(18:15):
the show after being at the show, and hopefully I
have so much more. I have much more to report
back to you. I hope you guys have a great
day and we'll talk soon. Bye bye,
