Speaker 1 (00:03):
Oh, you're listening to watch fanatics podcasts. Here we talk
about watches, either myself or with my two watch collecting friends. Subscribe,
like and give us a five star rating if you
feel appropriate.
Speaker 2 (00:19):
Enjoy the show.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Hi everyone, Many of you, I'm sure watch YouTube videos.
One of the things I see a lot are watch ads,
and that's probably my algorithm and probably yours too. But
I saw a cool one today. I don't know if
it's just the Canadian market or if you guys see it.
I don't know how it's done, but I saw a
(00:46):
discovered G Shop glow up. It's about the Hidden Glow
Series Volume two, which I'm not a huge fan of.
I probably won't buy one, but the ad is really cool.
I highly recommend you guys check it out. It's discovered
g Shocks glow up the Hidden Glow Series Volume two,
which also funny enough. I've keep getting Hamilton Hacky Field
(01:10):
ads and those are like a year old because I
wanted to look at like, why do I keep getting these?
They're a year old. But another Hamilton watch advertisement that's
coming up a lot a lot is the Hamilton Watch,
which they're collaborated with Hojima and of course, it's the
death stranding to watch. And I don't know if you've
(01:32):
seen it, but it's it's like a rectangular shape watch
and it has a weird pace and crystal covering. And
I say weird because it's segmented, like you're looking through
a window or a cockpit window. I don't know how
(01:52):
to quite describe it, but at first I thought it
was a little tacky because I thought was just maybe
material from the case going across the crystal. And I'm
going by what I've seen from other YouTube channels. I
have not yet held one in my hand, but it
turns out that they're actually separate crystals. It's not just
(02:15):
the case covering it and creating an illusion of several crystals.
It is actually several crystals. And to be accurate, it's
seven crystals on the front and it does have a
clear case back crystal on the back. So pretty cool.
You might have a watch here with the most ever
sapphire crystals. Hey, and who can claim that? You can
(02:39):
if you buy this watch now. Hojima is a creator
of video games. He's a huge watch fan. He is
also a huge fan of film in cinema, and I
believe he just passed away recently, very recently. If that's
confirmed in that rumor, then rest in peace. I've never
(03:00):
played Death Stranding too, but I have played Metal Gear
Solid and a few of the Metal Gear Solids on
my PlayStations, and I really enjoyed them. It's a great game,
great balance of action and stealth. That's how I found
the game. I know some people prefer more the stealth,
some people more of the story, some people more of
(03:22):
the action. And well, metal Gear Solid had all of those,
so that's why I play them, and that's how I
know Hojima. Oh and before we get into another ad,
this is being recorded end of June. I just want
to say that everyone should google minutes an hour show.
They have a Los Angeles show July twenty sixth and
(03:43):
July twenty seventh from twelve pm to five pm. You
can go on the website get pre tickets and you
can also sign up for a watch making workshop. Well,
if there's room, you have to buy into the watch
making workshop, but it's with Simier and that is cool.
Those are cool watches and you could make one with them,
(04:03):
and of course the price of the workshop includes your
watch too, So check it out. But going back to
ads on YouTube, another watch ad that that's popped up
on my algorithm is the Long Jean Spirit Zulu Time
nineteen twenty five. I'm not sure. It looks like it's Superman,
(04:27):
the new Superman. They see the New Ambassador.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
I think so.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
But the ad has two people, a man and a woman,
who are international travelers. Whether it's for work or business
or pleasure, I'm not sure. But they're trying to rendezvous
and they call each other and it looks like they
can't because they're always in other countries. But eventually they
do and they have an evening together, and the next
(04:52):
day the woman leaves with his watch unbeknownst to him,
so he wakes up she's gone, and so is his watch.
It's kind of playful, it's flirty. I don't know what
to think of the ad. I don't know. I would
be upset if someone stole my Zulu Time nineteen twenty five,
but he seems to be okay with it. I'm assuming
(05:15):
that they do this a lot and they'll run into
each other again. But how this ad works is it
shows off the Long Jeans Spirit Zulu Time nineteen twenty five,
and it's a beautiful watch and it's now my favorite.
Long Jean's watch, a watch company that I liked, admire
but not crazy about, but I am crazy about this
(05:37):
watch for the Canadians. It's about five five hundred dollars,
thirty nine millimeters diameter, thirteen point five millimeters thick, ten
bar water resistance, a transparent case back. It's beautiful. The
rotor has like the World engraved on it, so check
it out, and the bezel is eighteen carrots pink gold.
(06:00):
Really cool. It's also COSTS certified, which is for the listeners.
That's COSC. If you're not familiar with those acronyms, it's
control Official Seese do DO Chronometers, which is the official Swiss
Chronometers testing institute. They've been around since nineteen seventy three
(06:21):
and they're they're responsible for certifying accuracy and precision of
mis watches and that's too minus four to plus six
seconds a day. If you are within that range, your
watch is labeled chronometer. And it's not just accuracy of
a watch on a watch stand. It's different temperatures, different environments,
(06:41):
and more importantly, different positions that they do the testing.
I would love to have one of these one day,
really nice, gorgeous watch. Ten bar water resistance, so that
means one hundred meters or three hundred and thirty feet.
But this is a watch. I don't think you should
get wet. I don't know. I guess some people like
Patina and some people like doing Instagram wrist rolls in
(07:05):
the water, but I wouldn't. Ten bars. Mind, you could
do a wrist roll in water and not have any damage.
And for your listeners, I'll do a practical water resistance guide.
I'm sure you could easily find this guide on the
internet when you are in front of the laptop. But
one atm is converted into one bar, which is an
(07:26):
equivalent to ten meters. Let's look at three bar. Three
bar is equal to three atm, which is equal to
thirty meters, which is equal to one hundred feet. So
that's how the conversion goes. And for practicality, three ATMs
or three bars and thirty meters or one hundred feet.
(07:47):
Even though it's one hundred feet and thirty meters, the
reality is it's just splash resistance. Do not take your punchineer.
Swimming pool is just splash resistance. Don't even take a
bath with it. At five ATMs, you're now looking at
a watch that is suitable for showering. At one hundred
(08:09):
ATMs you're now looking at watch suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
And then at two hundred ATMs that you now have
a watch that's at least suitable for serious water sports
and recreational diving. So keep that in mind when you
have a watch with any sort of water resistance on
(08:30):
the dial, because three ATM, five atm really just keep
stay away from water, just keep it dry. Also quickly,
just yesterday I saw Siko is doing a voting campaign,
and that's voting on the sixtieth anniversary Siko's dive watch,
(08:53):
the Prospects series that starts July first, twelve am and
goes to July thirty first DRAP standard time. The voting
campaign is to find the new dial color for that
sixtieth anniversary. Right now, they have four and the four
(09:13):
you vote on is there's a red. I don't know
the exact color codes, but it's like a blood red.
There's an emerald green, a bronze brown gold, and a Awqua blue.
And here you actually can have input on what the
(09:33):
new sixtieth anniversary Sickle Diver watch will be. The dial
and the bezel are colored the same, and the dial
itself has a nice wave texture. And I gotta say
that the brown yellow, the golden brown, and the turquoise
is my favorite. I will probably go vote. I just
(09:54):
don't know which one brown are blue, but I will
go vote, and I think you guys should too. I mean,
that's cool. I love how Saikho is getting you involved
a small way, but involved with the design of the
new watch that's coming out. But that blue watch, I
gotta say it reminds me of the Tiffany Blue. And
(10:16):
again on my algorithm that I've seen that has made
me excited for. A brand that I'm always mildly excited
for is Tudor. The Tudor Black Bay fifty four lagoon blue,
and it's beautiful. It has a beautiful blue dial. I
don't know if you can still call it Tiffany blue,
(10:37):
but it's blue.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Beautiful.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
Bracelet is a movement empty five four zero zero costs
certified as well two hundred meters water resistance thirty seven
and millimeters. It's also slightly textured, almost like a snowflake.
Someone called it like a sand like texture, but a
(11:02):
watch I'm very excited for and when it's available. I
heard it's at four three and fifty dollars US. I
gotta say, the Lagoon Blue to their Black Bay fifty
four is in terms of a blue dial, something I
really like much more than the Black Bay Chrono Flamingo,
(11:22):
which is also that baby blue. Great look and watch,
But something about that Black Bay fifty four Lagoon Blue,
it just stands out. It's simple, it's beautiful, and it's
made me love Tutor again. I mean, I've always liked them,
but now I really really want to add that to
(11:45):
my list. That and that Zulu time I gotta tell you.
But again, before I sign off, I just want to
say that, please google those watches. Please go to Saiko,
Please make a vote, because if you vote and they
do make that watch, you can tell people you had
(12:08):
input in that. You know, how often can you say
that you had input into a name brand watch like Siko. Also,
before you forget, go to the Minute an Hour's website
register for that show in Los Angeles. These shows are amazing.
I went to the Toronto time Piece show and I
(12:30):
had so much fun. I had a great time, meeting
the people behind the brands, people behind the cameras, people
in front of the cameras. You'll see people on YouTube
that that will be at these shows. It's just it's
a fun way to look at new watches, try them
on in a safe way without high pressure sales, and
(12:51):
then amongst your peers and who knows, like some of
these brands have great sales going on at the show,
and not only will you get a great deal, but
having met the people behind the brand sometimes just adds
a little more value to it, more of personal value
to it. So highly recommend it. I've gotten Fair and Switt.
(13:14):
I have a watch from them. I met Adam at
his booth at the Toronto Time p show with be
Watch Company. I have their watch. And meeting them in
person and seeing how happy they are, that how much
they love their brand. It's not just a business to them.
They're really excited when they see people with their watches on.
(13:36):
It just elevates your experience with watches and with the brand.
I recommend it. If I can, I would go to
a mid hour show I know, probably not for Los Angeles,
but maybe Austin in November. That was one I wanted
to go to last year, I couldn't do Los Angeles.
I always want to go down It's one of my
(13:58):
favorite cities in the world. But I won't be making
it this July, but maybe maybe Austin. We'll see, so
don't forget to Google and register it for that and
I think that's it for now. We'll talk, we'll see.
Take care. Thank you for listening. If you do want
(14:19):
to reach out, you can find me at watch Fanatic
David on Instagram or Harold at SPA Sense and you'll
see the description in our show notes below.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Thanks. Enjoy your day.
