Well, you're listening to watch fanatics podcasts. Here we talk
about watches, either myself or with my two watch collecting friends. Subscribe,
like and give us a five star rating if you
feel appropriate. Enjoy the show. Hello everyone, welcome back. Today.
(00:27):
We're going to talk about the twenty twenty five Toronto
time Piece Show and the next episode we will talk
about the time Piece World Awards, and that's going on
at the same time by the same people. So September
twentieth and the twenty first is the Toronto time Piece Show,
(00:47):
and the evening of September twentieth is the time Piece
World Awards, which different people will be acknowledged and awarded
for their contribution to arology. You can find the tickets
for the show and for the Toronto Timepiece Show at
their website. I'll make sure the descriptions in the show notes,
(01:11):
but Toronto Timepiece Show. Google it and it's there. It's
self explanatory. Toronto time p Show, Free, Time Peace World Awards.
You have to buy tickets and depending on what seat
you get, you will be charged appropriately. Also at the
show and might come up in further episodes, are the retailers.
(01:38):
It's not just about brands, but there's gonna be retailers.
There's also going to be representative of private collection insurance
because that's something we all have to think about with
this world today, with all the crime. There's going to
be also watch services there, Trillium Watch Services, and I'm
(02:00):
excited because they are going to do some battery exchanges
there for your watches. Also, there will be the National
Association of Watch and Clock and it's going to be
a troll chapter. I know there is chapters all through
Canada and the States, so I would love to see
(02:21):
what they offer with their membership. But without further ado,
let's look at the watches. And since there's so many
watch brands here, I'm going to break it down by
the level of sponsorship. Also, a lot of these brands,
(02:41):
if you haven't seen them, or if you don't know them,
I recommend you do because I went through all of
them pretty amazing. And for the purpose of the show,
because there is so much here, I am just going
to talk about the brand name, where they're from, and
(03:03):
generally where the price is above or below a thousand.
And the reason why I'm saying this is because as
a collector, I've collected for many criteria. I wanted to
collect at one point different types of watches, you know, driver, diver, flyer, digital, analog, mechanical.
(03:30):
I also wanted to collect from different countries different watches.
And with this list, I am going to give a
price and where they're from, because I think that's where
you're you can dive deeper on your own into the brand.
I was going to look at the brands and maybe
say if they're going to be if they specialize in
(03:51):
dress watch, or if they specialize in divers or et cetera.
But I found that many of these brands just they
jump around and play with different genres, which is great.
And also I find that many of these brands have
(04:11):
different approaches to horology. So I have a feeling that
each one of these brands you can do a separate
episode on. And I'll give you an example like Awake.
They have a very unique approach to dial and dial treatment.
(04:33):
They on some of the watches also use techniques from
Vietnam and their Lackuer process and they have their reason
for doing that. It's again go check their website out,
so you know, not necessarily just a Swiss brand, but
they're using Vietnamese techniques so very interesting, and many of
(04:54):
these brands do the same. And I say that because
they're not just purely American brand, They're not just purely
a Canadian brand. Movements are coming from a different place.
Design is coming from a different place. Now there are
some that do everything in the house. And again you'll
(05:14):
discover that on your own. When I give you this list,
we're just gonna talk about their name, where they're from,
and where the price is. In terms of the thousand
dollar marks, I will say please go to the Toronto
time Piece website because there were a few names I've
(05:34):
never seen before, and by clicking on it, I was
exposed to new watches, new watchmakers, cool designs, and more importantly,
more watches to put in the bucket list. Oh, I
also want to talk about Siniziana. I seen her stuff
(05:55):
last year and I seen her stuff on Instagram. Just
amazing artists. She's selling prints. I would love to see
some of her prints and who knows, maybe one for purchase.
They're very reasonable if you have the chance check her artworkout.
It is amazing. The detail and the artistic talent this
(06:18):
person has is unbelievable, but enough to chat. Let's go
to the brands, and our platinum sponsors for the show
is Brightling and Orris, and I'm not going to dive
into those brands right now. If you're listening to the show,
(06:38):
you already know a lot about Brightling and Oris. One
of our retailers there is Jim Bijoux. I've seen them before.
They sell a lot of great watches. They sell many brands,
and they also sell used watches, which I really like,
and they have some great used watch offerings. I believe
(07:01):
last year they brought a ton of their used watches, gorgeous,
gorgeous pieces, great example of well kept used watches. So
I'm excited to see what they have. Moving on to
our diamond sponsors now, and the first one Attelier. When
(07:21):
there are Chinese brand and when you talk to them,
they say French Chinese because French craftsmanship, French techniques, but
from China. Beautiful, gorgeous pieces. You'll find these watches in
the category over one thousand dollars. They're beautiful. Check them out.
(07:44):
Next diamond sponsor Christopher Ward, an English brand with a
strong connection to Swiss and their pieces are over one
thousand dollars. Oxa another Swiss, a brand from Switzerland pieces
over one thousand dollars. Fears again from the United Kingdom
(08:08):
over one thousand dollars. Isotope from the United Kingdom over
one thousand dollars. Marathon Watches they're from Canada, over one
thousand dollars. You'll find some under one thousand dollars as well,
I should say over and under one thousand dollars. Maurice
(08:29):
Lacroix that's from Switzerland. They're over one thousand dollars. Nomost
Glass shoot Day German brand over one thousand dollars. Zin
from Germany, also in the over one thousand dollars category. Now,
(08:50):
another diamond sponsor that I do want to talk about
is not a brand, but Classic Creations. It's a retail
store and again they sell many of the brands and
great reputation they have here. I'm excited to see what
they bring. Now, moving on to the old sponsorship level,
(09:14):
we have five to eight zero Watch Company. They're American
and they're in the over one thousand dollars category and
Ordain United Kingdom over one thousand dollars. R Ken another
United Kingdom brand in the category. Over one thousand dollars.
(09:34):
Atlantic they are a Swiss brand, and you'll find watches
above and below the one thousand dollar mark. Awake the
Swiss brand with offerings over one thousand dollars. We have Baltic,
a French brand with offerings below and above one thousand dollars.
Bou Blue another French brand, over one thousand dollar category.
(10:00):
Brew watches from America under one thousand dollars. And side note,
I met Jonathan last year. He's an amazing person. I
will most likely be buying a brew watch from him
this year if I can decide on one Sameir a
Swiss brand and they have offerings over one thousand dollars.
(10:23):
Clements a brand from United Kingdom over one thousand dollars.
Duckworthy Press texts, United Kingdom over one thousand dollars. Do
you Frame from the United States over one thousand dollars. Guys,
hang in there, don't get don't fall asleep, because you
(10:43):
might hear a brand that you're excited to see and
it's on this list, and you'll probably want to get
tickets to the Toronto show. Or if you know many
of the watch brands and you hear something you haven't
heard before. You definitely want to go to the website,
find that name and google it. You'll love each of
(11:03):
these companies. I don't think I was disappointed with any
of these companies. But moving on with the gold sponsors.
There's Echo Neutra I should say Echo Slash Neutra and
they're from Italy and they have offerings over one thousand dollars.
Elliott Brown from United Kingdom. They have offerings below and
(11:27):
above one thousand dollars. Fair and Swit American brand, offerings
under one thousand dollars. I had an interview with Adam
from Fair and Switt and I met him last year,
talked to him on the phone this year. An amazing
person excited to see him. There's Pharaoh and Company. It's
(11:49):
a Canadian brand and they have offerings under one thousand dollars. Formax,
a Swiss brand. They have watches over one thousand dollars.
Geo from Puerto Rico and they have offerings under one
thousand dollars. They got some nice bright colors. And also
(12:11):
I want to mention in the school sponsorship is Ganans
and they sell sensors that actually slide underneath your current
watch that will give feedback to your phone or Bluetooth device,
and this feedback will have biometrics like heart rate steps.
(12:34):
I believe it's going to be a sensor to give
you other notifications. Check out their website. I believe they're
doing some crowdfunding. I will be talking to them. I
will get more information. I will see if they have
a viable product. It looks like they have a viable product.
(12:55):
But nonetheless, I'm excited to see that because I was
oham about a watch that can do that, And if
I could buy a sensor that will slide under any
current watch I own, then I think this is the
root for me. And let's see. Let's continue with the
(13:16):
gold sponsors. We have Hanheart from Germany and their watches
are priced over one thousand dollars. Erran from Canada or
it's pronounced it's spelled heron as of the waterfowl and
there are they have watches under one thousand dollars. Jack
(13:36):
Mason from the US. They have watches over one thousand dollars.
Jose Sernino from Canada pieces over one thousand dollars. Young
Hans from Germany. They have pieces above and below one
thousand dollars. Little King watches from Canada. What Little King
(13:57):
Watches do is they sell vintage watches of various conditions.
I can't wait to see what Little King Watches brings.
I love vintage pieces and some can absolutely blow me
out of the water. So excited to see what they have.
(14:18):
Locke and King Canadian brand pieces under one thousand dollars.
I love this company. Spoke to them last year. Beautiful,
beautiful time pieces. Check them out. Mercado Watch Company. They're
also from Canada and they have watches at one thousand
(14:41):
dollars plus. March Lab from France, but I gotta say
they have a strong United States connection in terms of
design and collaboration. Talked to them last year, did a piece.
I talked a little bit about them also on a
(15:02):
past podcast. I think they have a beautiful watch. Check
out Nevada Grenchen Swiss watch both in the prices above
and below one thousand dollars, Ocean Crawler from America. He
got pieces at one thousand dollars plus fallen from the
(15:24):
United Kingdoms. Pieces above and below one thousand dollars, Redwood
from Canada. Pieces under one thousand dollars, Space one from France.
Pieces over one thousand dollars. And I'm going to take
a pause there because something about Space one and many
(15:45):
of the brands I am going to talk about, and
many of the brands I already spoken of, even though
when it comes to the prices of watch, I'm saying
above and below one thousand dollars just rough guidelines. Some
pieces can go up to the four thousand and five
(16:06):
thousand plus. Obviously, right we're dealing with brightening or as,
so you know how expensive watches can be. But something
about Space one which made me really think what makes
this show special? What makes Space one special? When you
look at Space one, you're gonna see watches that could
(16:28):
look like they're worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, but
here you're getting a beautiful watch that if you're looking
at those types of watches in the one hundred thousand
dollars range or around one hundred thousand dollar range, you're
going to get something like Space one to come along
and offer a watch that is so much more attainable.
(16:50):
But let's move on Selton from Hong Kong. You'll find
pieces above and below one thousand dollars beautiful. If you
like Moon Phase check them out. They got a unique
moon phase. Serica from France, offerings over one thousand dollars.
(17:11):
Strom which is a Norwegian company and they have offerings
over one thousand dollars. Studio Underdog from United Kingdom and
their watches priced right at one thousand dollars. Moving on,
we got Sunres from Taiwan where they have offerings under
(17:31):
one thousand dollars. Terry Crafted, Oh, not a brand. This guy,
Terry Crafted makes beautiful leather custom pieces. He's going to
be at the show. I saw some of his work
last year. Amazing. If you're going to the show, make
sure you speak to this guy, because if you're not
(17:51):
a fan of leather straps, you will be. Tesse Watches
they're from Canada and they have offerings over one thousand.
Unison from Canada, they have offerings under a thousand Ooh.
Venicianico from Italy offerings above and below one thousand dollars.
(18:15):
Gorgeous pieces. I put them on Instagram a few times.
They're great. Whitby Watch company, huge fan friend of our
show from Canada and you'll find amazing offerings under one
thousand dollars. Just gorgeous. Will Watch works and this is
an example of I was saying, where you're gonna see
(18:37):
pieces even though they're above one thousand dollars, And actually,
I think you'll find seeing that you can get a
turbion under two thousand dollars makes you realize, yeah, it
sounds expensive, but no, for what you're getting, it's value
(18:59):
value value. That's Wilk Watch Works and they're from Canada.
Let's see where am I? Whys Whys is from Thailand?
They have pieces above and under one thousand dollars. Warden
Watch Studio from Canada, pieces under one thousand dollars. Yemma
(19:22):
from France. They have pieces above and below one thousand dollars.
And last but not least is Zenia and they're from Canada.
Their watches are over one thousand dollars. And I gotta
say Zenia. If you're a fan of meteor dials, Wow,
(19:42):
last year I saw amazing meteor dials on Zenia. And
we have a watch role from them and I love it. Actually,
when I travel, I use the Zenia watch role and
it's a three watch watch role. It's grown to become
a part of my traveling kit. It comes with me
(20:06):
no matter what. And Zenia, if this is your watch
role like, come on, man, that meteor dial and your
watches must be amazing just by going from that. This
is a long list. These are brands that you've probably
heard of. Some of these brands you haven't heard of.
(20:27):
And I cannot stress how important is to go to
this website, the Toronto time Piece Show and see the
list for yourself, because you're gonna spend hours googling each
of these companies. I did, and I am going to
talk to some of these companies in person. I will
(20:48):
see if I mean chances I interview them unknown It's
been really hard to coordinate for interviews. I have a
few interviews that I'd love to do but just haven't
had time. But I will get permission from these companies
to talk about their watches on my podcast and I
(21:11):
will do that. But I cannot stress the importance that
you go the Toronto time Piece Show website. Try to
book your own tickets for the show. They're free if
they're available, But I strongly suggest just going through the
list on their sponsorship and look into each brand on
(21:33):
your own. You'll love what you find. And yeah, it
will be a long night because once you start, you
won't be able to stop, thank you for listening. We'll
talk to you real soon.
