Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Christos Anasties Alithos Anasty. I'm going to tell everybody a
little story here when of Markowski's speaking Greek here on
the show, christ has risen crystals, Alithos Anesty, he has risen. Indeed,
this past Sunday, Holy Week, I went to Mass with
(00:36):
my wife to her Orthodox church. They do a vigil
Mass at midnight. At midnight is breaking the fast tradition.
Then I went to my church with Tom Catholic Mass
at seven o'clock in the morning Easter Sunday, and I'm
(00:56):
packed wal to wall people. Kids. It was it was great. Anyway,
the priest, the priest is giving his homily and he's
telling a story, and it kind of hit with me
because he liked myself. He's an outsider and Zerno to
the Greeks. But his best friend growing up was Greek.
(01:18):
And five years ago he was telling the story his
friend died and the mom there, you know, his friend's
mom was you know, you know, overwhelmingly concerned about him
and always stayed in contact with him. They went to
school together at the University of Florida. And he's telling
(01:41):
the story. They said, the same thing that I deal
with in my household. And Christ has risen. He has risen. Indeed,
my mother in law, you know, she picks up the
phone right now, that's what she says and say hello,
says Christos an esty. Anyway, to go along with that,
they have a neat little tradition that you do. It's
(02:01):
with the eggs. They have an egg crack tradition where
my mother in law dies. They die these eggs bright
red and that's to symbolize the blood of Jesus and
his sacrifice. The egg itself symbolizes the tomb of Christ.
And on Easter Sunday, everybody gets their egg and you
(02:22):
play like a little egg crack game where you like
smack someone's egg. They're hard boiled eggs, obviously, and you
know if your egg cracks, will you lose the other
one that doesn't. But anyway, symbolizes the opening of the tomb.
And priest is telling the story to everybody there and
(02:43):
again mass packed, he teaches, teaches everybody there.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I'm like, I'm dying laughing my life anyway, telling everybody
about what to do, holds up his phone, holds up
his phone and gets the entire congregation.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Too, you know, Christ's and sties and sends it to
his his friend's mob. It was, it was beautiful. It
really was when it was warm and fuzzy. Uh stories
from church. But anyway, reflecting on that, uh, since Sunday
(03:25):
and yesterday, and you know what, what the doom scroll stuff,
that the negativity that I'm constantly constantly hit upside the
head with, you know, and having to follow this and
cover this. It's hard. It's hard. And again I'm going
(03:47):
to relate this. And I talked about a little bit
about this yesterday. I'm want to pull this in to
the President of the United States, and I mentioned to
it yesterday. The guy needs the guy needs our prayers.
He does. I feel sorry for him. I really do.
(04:08):
As angry as I've been with him, I really do
feel sorry for the guy in the sense that he
is caught up, uh, caught up in this you know,
cycle of revenge and getting back at people. I mean,
(04:28):
he's there, he's there at the Easter egg roll at
the White House, and he's making fun of Joe Biden.
And we also saw Joe Biden, you know, bumbling with
the with the bunny the year before there, and you
know he had to point that out, how to make
fun of that, and the buddy not gonna do that
to me. I'm like, Joe Biden's like living rent free
(04:51):
in his head. Almost every tweet is a shot at
Joe Biden. Joe Biden And I mentioned this before, I said,
you you keep picking on this guy, and I said
this last year. I've been saying it for some time.
Stop sah. I mean you're picking on You're picking on
an old man who is incapacitated. He doesn't know. I
(05:15):
said that the greater villain in this one is his
wife that allowed him to continue when he had no
business being there. So again, you're picking on an old
guy that has been incapacitated. And everyone, I'm sure most
people out there know have had you know, elder family
(05:35):
members that have started to go downhill? Did you pick
on them? Did? Did you? Did you make fun of them? No? No,
this revenge narrative, it has it has to end at
(05:57):
some point in time. I give in the lyrics to
a great Coldplay song a couple times here on the show. Uh,
it's a song kyled Death and all his Friends, And
the LA chorus at the end of the song is, no,
I don't want to battle from beginning to end. I
don't want to cycle of recycled revenge. I don't want
to follow death and all of his friends. Don't want
(06:22):
to follow Death and all his friends, this cycled revenge.
And you're talking about the guys, heast Ken, You're president
of the United States, You're the most powerful person in
the entire world. Why do you bear bear these others mind?
And I know you see it all over social media
with again all of the maga vitriol. You know that
(06:44):
that takes place out there from all of these influencers
that are all caught up and revenge and making fun
of people and tearing them down. You won, you won, okay,
so uh you know you got the House, you got
the Senate, you got the presidency. You won. So I
(07:10):
got an idea, how about how about stopping the nonsense
and getting things done? But no, no, no, no, no again,
and I get it, get it. Fox News fuels into this.
You turn on all the things that are happening in
the world, all the stuff that's happening in the financial markets.
I mean, they got to oh, this is what happened
at the egg roll. We're making fun of Biden. I
(07:31):
get it. Maybe you know it's great for ratings for
people that don't really have high IQ. But is it
I don't know, are you doing the right thing with
the type of programming you're putting out there? Is this beneficial?
Is this what you really want? Any here? All time? Well,
(07:53):
you know they did it to him and law fair
and all this stuff. Listen, we just got over Easter,
and this is a guy that you know, likes to
Donald Trump likes to invoke religion and Jesus and Christianity.
But the funny thing is the funny thing is they
love using it and they love talking about it all
(08:13):
the time. Trump likes to site all of this stuff.
But they pick and choose, They pick and choose. What
what did correct me if I'm wrong? What did What
did Jesus say when he was on the cross? He
begged for the forgiveness of the people that just nailed
(08:35):
him to a cross and tortured him. That's that's Christianity
in a nutshell right there. Okay, that's what it is.
That's what it is. It's not Easter eggs, not any
other stuff. That's it. And this is this guy that's
that's so far, so hell and high water away from that.
(08:58):
I can't even tell you. And that's what I'm saying.
He's living with this inside him. That's that's no good.
I'm sorry. Okay, you tell you. You just point me
a person who is revenge minded, that Harbor's grievances, and
(09:21):
you try to find me a happy person that is
revenge minded, that doesn't forgive people and Harbor's grievances. I
dare you you're not going to find a happy one.
You're not. I this stuff. I teach the stuff to
my kids. I said, you are to be as generous
as possible, used to be as forgiving as possible. You
(09:44):
know people are going to do the wrong thing by
whatever it may be. You learn from that. You learn
who these people are, and you've got to be careful
from them. But you don't let it change you. You
don't let it change your nature and who you are
and what you are supposed to be. I think many people,
including myself, including myself. I thought I thought that there
(10:09):
was a shift to some degree in Donald Trump's mentality,
especially after that the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. And I
don't know, maybe I think I was wrong there Again,
(10:30):
I was never never a Donald Trump supporter, even though
I voted for him twice. He was never never my
first choice by any stretch of the imagination. But I
know right now he is the president of the United States,
and he most certainly needs guidance. He most certainly needs guidance,
(10:52):
he needs he needs somebody pointing him in the right direction,
because quite frankly, he's lost right now. I don't care
what the BS artists are telling you on Fox. And
he's a master negotiator and he's got this all going on.
No he doesn't, Okay, he doesn't. What's happening right now,
(11:17):
what he has been doing? Again again, what a mean,
massive disappointment across the board. And again, I know the
true believers, the one that think that he is some
sort of uh you know, some sort of prophet, oh
genius out there, they know it's exactly the smartest guy going.
(11:40):
All right, at some point in time, you have to
wake up and again, I'm really disappointed again. He goes
back to blind by Benjamin Franklin, attributed to Benjamin Franklin.
When asked and asked, what we got if they're coming
out of the you know, Constitutional conference convention, you know
(12:05):
what do we got? Republic? If you can keep it, Well,
let me tell you something. I'll tell you something. We're
republic if again, we have a legislature, we have Congress
that steps up and does their job, does their job?
(12:27):
Did this this other line? Well, we vote, we've voted
for Trump. Is we voted? No, you didn't, Okay, we
never I never, ever, ever, ever would vote for an
all powerful, all powerful you know president. We don't want that.
That's the last thing in the world you want. You
want to destroy this country? Yeah, yeah, because investing investing
(12:48):
in countries that have dictatorships, they work out real well.
We have checks and balances for a reason, and sometimes,
guess what, things don't go your way and you can
lament the thing don't go your way. But that's that's
what's worked for this country. That's that is what has
built wealth up in this country, faith in our constitutional republic.
(13:12):
We're not a bloody democracy. For crying out loud. We
have three, three separate, equal branches of government. And you
know the funny thing is, and I am even paying
that much attention to this nonsense. It's taken place in
Al Salvador. It's a it's a bloody side show right now,
(13:33):
yelling and screaming about this Supreme Court justice and at
Supreme Court you lost. Move on, Move on putting making
memes and putting tattoos. What is wrong with you? Don't?
Don't you people have anything better to do with your time,
(13:53):
something actually productive that you can actually give to this
world rather than dividing people. Do you have anything else
better to do with your time? You're just as bad. Okay,
you're just as bad as the blue hairs out there
protesting outside of Tesla dealership. You're just you're just, you know,
(14:17):
two sides of the same damn coin. You're you're rip
on that, but you're the same thing. Put it away.
Put it away, and you know, get yourself a little
bit focus on on what's the good things about this?
(14:41):
Do we have? Yeah, we have a bunch of things.
Issues we've deal with. Yeah, we had to deal with
the border, and I think that they're doing a great job.
But again, we still have to have immigration reform. We
need to have immigrants coming into this country. I've got
a lot of things that we've got to deal with.
But this ripping and tearing apart, these tweets that are
(15:01):
going out, what what purpose does it serve to rile
to rile the base up, get the people going. H Well,
you know, maybe maybe we shouldn't worry about getting the
people going. Maybe we should worry about trying to bring
the country together. Maybe we should stop just just throwing
(15:26):
out to Maybe we should stop trying to rip on Biden.
Maybe maybe it was just put an end to that
for crying out loud, stop ripping on the old man.
All right, you're in charge now own it. Own it.
(15:48):
And again like I said, nothing nothing, I did, Nothing
we can do. He's lost his way, lost his way.
I feel bad for the guy. I do, because he's
obviously not a happy human being. Okay, I don't care
what type of persona he's putting out there. It's bullshit.
(16:10):
Like I said, show me one person, but that amount
of darkness and the ability to tweet out and to
be that nasty, show me one person that that's actually
like that, that you know, that's actually truly a happy individual.
You can't, it's not possible. Pray for the guy. That's
all I gotta say. Christ Sinesti's watchdog on Wall street
