Speaker 2 (00:16):
Break into filibuster. Donald Trump has got a little breakfast
breakfast shindig with Senate Republicans, and well, I know he's
doing part and with the media there, and he's going
to do part without the media there, and when the
(00:36):
media is not going to be there, he is going
to be reading Senate Republicans the Riot Act. When it
comes to getting rid of the filibuster, he wants to
end the government shutdown. But more than that, more than that,
he just wants to have the next Well, he's saying
(00:57):
the next three years, he's the next three years, three
and a half years. You know, that's three and a
quarter years. I'm gonna be able to do whatever. You know,
We're gonna be able to get things done. And then
we'll be able to have a majority forever because we'll
get so many things done and it will be awesome.
What he's saying is is that if they don't do this,
they don't do this. Democrats are going to take back
(01:21):
power and they're gonna have it forever, because he says,
then they're going to turn Puerto Rico into a state.
Another two senate senators there, Washington, d c. Into a state,
and another two senators there. They're going to pack the
Supreme Court. All of these very scary things that are
going to happen if Republicans don't break the filibuster, get
(01:45):
everything done, make the country grady, make America great again
the way that Trump wants it to. They're gonna do it,
and they're gonna get all this power and then it's over.
It's an interesting theory, it is. It's yeah, it's pretty interesting.
Without a doubt, it's a pretty interesting theory. I don't
(02:07):
think getting rid of the filibuster is a wise move.
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
There's just just certain things that would probably should hold
on to to some degree just in case, and this
is one of them. This is one of them. You know,
not not to mention the fact, not to mention the
fact that you know, there might be yeah, it might
be many senators there that might not like what the
(02:40):
president is doing or the direction he's taken the country.
And or whatever it may be, and might not want
to vote or might switch parties. It's happened before. Do
you remember it's a senator from Vermont, Jim Jeffords. George W.
Bush became president and Jim Jefford's Republican Center from Vermont
(03:06):
William switch part he became an independent, but he caucused
with the Democrats and took power away from the Republicans
at that point in time. Again, be careful with what
you're doing. And I get it. He's feeling the pressure.
The pain comes, the shutdown regards to air traffic controllers,
(03:28):
TSA a lot of things, a lot of things that
are floating around out there. John Thune has been pushing back.
Will he be able to hold a lot? I don't know.
I don't know. Like I said, I'm not there. I
don't know the conversations that are being had between John
(03:51):
Thune and sensible Democrats about ways to move forward. I
don't have any idea what I do know. Okay, be careful,
be careful. You're going to put something into place, Okay
that most certainly most is going to be used against
(04:13):
