Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Time for a little government shut down drama. That's right,
we got it again. Isn't an amazing though, it's fascinating.
Oh my god, Democrats threatening to shut down the government.
And then interesting that way the Republicans threatened to shut
down the government. Oh my god, they're going to take
(00:36):
away Social Security and Medicare. People are going to get
their checks. It's gonna be anarchy whatever. Anyway that this
entire drama, shut down drama, continuing resolution crap makes me
sick to my stomach quite frankly. You have the Republicans
(00:57):
have come together and they have put together again again again.
It's like groundhog Day. You gotta know, I gotta you
gotta queue up, Sonny and share again. Do you know.
It's the same thing, and we're not gonna get our
job done. Doesn't matter Democrats Republicans, We're just going to
push this down the road and hope nobody pays attention
(01:20):
in September. Yeah, September again, they pushed this to September.
Congress is an even in session in August. When did
they get out of dodge, like mid July. They barely work.
You know, they take a bigger vac more vacation time
than the Europeans do. For crying out loud, anyway, I'm
(01:40):
going to actually give you the release from the House
Freedom Caucus about this Continuing Resolution. They're saying that contrary
to Congress's longtime abuse of this legislative tool, this cr
this one, Oh, I guess, I guess that found Jesus
(02:01):
the Republicans. This Continuing Resolution is a paradigm shift. This
bill will reduce and then freeze spending for the next
six months to allow President Trump and his administration to
continue their critical work within the executive branch to find
and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. Correct me, correct me
(02:24):
if I'm wrong. Elon's been doing that? Doose has been
doing that? Why not? Why not? Just you know, basically,
in this Continued Resolution brought right out some of the
crap that you've been spending money on because you're basically
(02:45):
just you're sending them checks again. Anyway, anyway, It says,
it entirely kills the prospect of a budget busting pork Field,
I'm gonna bust this fiscal year. And it breaks the
long standing practice of the swamp of handcuffing increases in
defense with increases to the non defense bureaucracy. It contains
(03:05):
zero earmarks, makes major recisions to the IRS and the
Commerce slush Fund, and includes additional funding for immigration enforcement
deportation operations. It prevents Democrats from derailing the America First
Agenda with a go nowhere government shutdown. With the six
months of funding, this bill provides freedom. Caucus members look
(03:28):
forward to working hand in hand with Doge onb and
the new Cabinet secretaries in eliminating even more waste, fraud,
and abuse, and enacting historic spending reforms via reconciliation, all
as part of President Trump's effort to balance the budget.
And many, many are out there circling the wagons, the commentators,
(03:51):
the Hugh Hewitts of the world, and many others saying, hey, listen,
you got to give the president his chance. He's got
to allow this to take place. You know, we're in
charge continuing resolution right. This is put out by a
guy that I have a great deal of respect for,
talked about him before Thomas Massey. The argument for the
(04:14):
continued resolution of September twenty twenty four was to fight
in December twenty twenty four after the election. Remember that,
remember that? No, no, no, yeah, yeah, we went that long ago? Kids, Okay,
it's March. Okay, were that long ago? But no, no, no, no, no no.
Everybody had to go home for Christmas, and they had
(04:35):
to go for how to go home for Christmas? God forbid?
They actually work a little bit. And then the argument
for the continuing resolution in December of twenty twenty four
was to fight in March of twenty twenty five, after
the inaugeration. This we're gonna do. We're gonna get this
thing done. We're gonna get on this, we're gonna make
kind we're gonna do budget cuts, you all this stuff.
(04:57):
And now the argument for the continuing resolution in March
of twenty twenty five is that they're going to come
back and fight in September of twenty twenty five, Right right,
how should I put this? Go? Go go, go sell
(05:19):
bullshit somewhere else. Okay, Okay, I listen, I've been force
fed your bullshit for decades now and again. You know
you're you're watching these Republicans go on Fox News and
Fox Business with oh so much passion in their voice,
wanting to pre give the President the opportunity to put
(05:42):
forth his agenda. I'm at it no time as far
as optics are. No time like the president, No time
like the president. And Donald Trump pissed me off. Okay,
he he pissed me off. Yesterday he lashed out at
(06:05):
Thomas Masse and a truth social post, declaring that the
congressman should be primaried and pledging to lead the charge
against him, and he likened Thomas Massey to Liz Cheney.
Congressman Thomas Massey of a beautiful Kentucky is an automatic
(06:27):
no vote on just about everything. So is one of
the great senators on my lifetime Tom Coburn. They used
to call him doctor No anyway, despite the fact that
he has always voted for continuing resolutions in the past.
He should be primaried and I will lead the charge
against him. He's just another grand stander who's too much
trouble and not worth the fight. He reminds me of
(06:50):
Liz Cheney before here, historic record breaking fall loss. The
people of Kentucky won't stand for it. Just watch. Do
I have any takers? Trump wrote in a post at Massy,
don't give it damn. Okay, tell you something and I
(07:10):
give a damn. He's not afraid of Donald Trump. This
was his post. Unless I get a Lambaday Monday that
causes me to forget what I've witnessed the past twelve years,
I'll be a no on the CR this week. It
amazes me that my colleagues and many of the public
foll for the lie that we will fight another day.
Senator Mike Lee came out and defended Massy. I have
(07:35):
nothing but profound respect for Representative Thomas Massey, who has
worked worked harder than perhaps any member of Congress to
bring federal spending under control. He might vote differently on
this matter than most, but if he does so, he'll
have a really good reason. I'm a huge fan. We're
(07:56):
back here again. We're back here again. And you know
it's you know, it's it's like he has these episodes.
It's like like that what's his name there, Jim Jim
Carrey when he doesn't take his medication and me, myself
and Irene, and he all of a sudden starts becomes
a completely different person, acts like a complete jerk. Thomas
(08:18):
Massey's a good guy. He is a good guy. I
don't trust these Republicans as far as I can throw
them here. Here's case in point is that you got
about twenty twenty Republicans, twenty one House Republicans, led by
New York Republican Andrew Garbarino. They wrote a letter to
(08:43):
the Houseways and Means Committee basically urging urging them to
keep Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act and all of the
tax credits that are in there for green crap to
stay in place. Why, well, I'm sure many of these
tax credits are going to boondoggles. And these states where
(09:06):
these guys come from, these are representatives that come from
blue states, Blue states. They're tokens, token conservatives coming out
of these blue states, and they're saying no, no, no,
no no, we want our tax credits for our boon doggles.
We don't want these things to go in If you
(09:26):
read the letter goes through, well you know these companies
are making investments and doing things based upon tax credits. Well,
if they're a business that's based upon tax credits. They
should probably go away in my book. And again, this
is what's going to happen. This is the horse trading
that's going to take place up until September and nothing
(09:46):
gets done. And I was glad to see Marco Rubio
slashing eighty three percent of US AID programs and he
thanked Elon Musk for all of the things that they've uncovered.
But that's fine. You slash those pro where's the money going? Now,
where's the money going? You slashed the programs. There is
a good opportunity here you go spending bill, write it
(10:08):
out right now, cut cut the spending. For crying out loud,
there's an opportunity. You cut it. But no, it's it's
gonna it's gonna linger. It's gonna linger like it's a
little slush funds that they had, they had, they had
slush fun money back from I remember TARP is slush
mon fund money that there's stillid governments are still living
(10:30):
off from from COVID. It's the same crap again and
again and again. So yeah, I'm sorry, uh, mister president.
I'm with Thomas Massey, I'm with Rand Paul. This is
just stupid. Okay again, all your suckers out there, Car
and you a bunch of suckers. Your bunch of suckers
(10:50):
is the same crap again and again and again. You
just told us, you just told up, no, up, nop September. No, no, no,
we can't do it. We're gonna push it and push
it after after the election. After the election, what'd you do? No, no, no,
We're going to push it until after the inauguration and
push it to March. Now, March comes along, now, we're
gonna push it to September. Watchdog on Wall Street dot
