Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
How Trump got elected in twenty twenty four. Actually, I
had a real big smile on my face yesterday when
I saw this piece by Holman Jenkins. Took me back
in time to some degree. And what Jenkins was writing
about was the fact that the district attorney dis attorney
(00:38):
for New York, Alvin Bragg. He's basically in right, remember him,
member Alvin Bragg. Yeah, yeah, he had this big preoccupation
with Donald Trump, remember that a couple years ago for scores, No, no,
not four scores, and said that couple years eighteen months ago,
(01:03):
he decided to go after Donald Trump with all of
these ridiculous charges. Remember those charges that misdemeanors and pile
them on and turning them into felonies and basically bookkeeping errors.
It was absolutely non sensical. Now when though the day
(01:28):
those charges were filed, I was a guest on the
Fox Business Network Morning show, and I pointed out at
that point in time that and again everybody kind of
looked at me like I had two heads. Kind of.
(01:49):
It was kind of like maybe maybe they had an epiphany,
understand understood what I was talking about. And I said,
at that point in time, is that the Democrats want
Donald Trump to run for the presidency. They want him
to run. This is yesterday Wall Street Journal Today. Mister
(02:12):
Bragg filed his charges on the cable channel where guests
can't afford to say something stupid. The verdict was instantaneous
and unanimous. Mister Bragg's gindup case had assured mister Trump
the GOP nomination at the expense of Ron DeSantis. Well,
it wasn't that many people that were agreeing with me
(02:33):
at the time. And I don't recall any of the
other networks calling it. But anyway, neither here or there,
it doesn't matter. Yeah, yeah, that case, the Alvin Bragg case,
was what pushed Trump over the top. It is what
energized MAGA. That's what drove Trump into the presidency. Trump
(02:56):
should send Brag a Christmas card for crying out loud,
Hey guys, Bragg. It was also the Democrats behind the
scenes that told him, hey, you need to gin something up.
You need to go after Trump. Yeah, because again they knew,
they knew Biden didn't have a shot, didn't have a
(03:20):
shot against the Santus and a few of the others
that were running at that same exact time. Trump was
the only opponent Biden might be able to beat. His
campaign wasn't viable otherwise. And again, I know, if you
don't believe me, go back, go back to I don't
have Trump even announced at that point. I was an afterthought.
(03:44):
Nobody thought that he could run. After the whole January
sixth stuff. The hope, the hope, and this is, according
to Jenkins, was courting me too, is that Trump would
become so tarnished by charges and convictions that Biden could
refuse to debate him, defusing the biggest risks to his campaign,
appearing doddering and incapable on live TV. Okay, then poll
(04:10):
showed Trump winning. Patriotic decision was called for, That is,
if Biden's staff family had been patriotic instead of dropping out,
though they opted for debate. Hail Mary, and you know
the rest is history. So Alvin Bragg is looks like
he's going to keep his job on I own I
(04:31):
guess he did what he told them to do, but
without a doubt. Okay, Trump should thank Bragg. He wouldn't
be president in my opinion, if it wasn't for him
in those charges. Watchdog on Wall Street dot com
