Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Okay, we have ourselves a new Mexican drugg war. Yeah.
I've been covering the Trump administration and what's going on
in the Caribbean, and again we don't know what pressure
is going to be brought to bear on Venezuela and
trying to get Maduro out, and we I don't know.
I think we're work like ten twelve votes now that
(00:38):
have been taken out, and I've given my commentary on that.
But last week I also made the point about Mexico.
Now over the weekend and Mara Lea, Mexico, the young
people in the community broke into the government palace chanting
(01:00):
for justice after the mayor of their town was gunned
down by drug cartels. He forty seven year old mayor.
His name is Carlo Manzo. Carlos Manzo a very fierce
critic of the President of Mexico. This Shinbaum and speak
(01:22):
basically critical because she was not doing a damn thing
when it comes to cartels and organized crime. He was
assassinated the other day of the Dead events, and he
was assassinated. I just want to put this in perspective.
Got over thirty thousand. They estimate over thirty thousand cartel
(01:46):
related murders each year in Mexico. And it's interesting too
as well, Shinbaum for some reason, you know, it's looking
a lot. You know, we always like to point at
the uh various different critics of Putin ending up falling
out of windows. Yeah, like the critics of Shinbaum out
(02:09):
they're the ones that want to crack down on the cartels.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
They they end up dead too. They end up dead too.
I mentioned this. You know, I will go to Mexican
quite frankly, if I was president of the United States,
I would I put out a very make it very clear.
I told assist, I don't want you going there. I
(02:34):
don't want you going there. You know, too many, too
many people, your fellow citizens have been infected with fatanyl
and trank and all these other poisons that are coming
from Mexico, not Colombia, not coming from Columbia, nah, coming
from Venezuela. But they've been coming from Mexico, and yeah,
(02:56):
I do damn thing. It's about as corrupt as corrupt
could be. And again, we could definitely put the screws
to Mexico for what a reason. We like putting the
screws to Canada more than we do Mexico. For again,
I still can't get my arms around all of that.
But as it stands right now, Okay, this is the
latest Trump administration has begnten detailed planning for a new
(03:22):
mission to send American troops and intelligence officers into Mexico
to target drug cartels. This according to two US officials
and two former senior US official familiar with the effort.
The early stages of training for the potential mission, which
would include ground operations inside Mexico, has already begun, the
(03:43):
two officials said. They say, it's not imminent. Again, we
don't know if we're putting these feelers out to put
pressure on the Mexican government, which again is something I
can see Trump doing in the same way that I
think is putting pressure on Maduro to get the hell
out of Dodge with our ships in that region. They
(04:07):
say the troops, many would be from the Joint Special
Operations Command would operate under the authority of the US
Intelligence community known as Title fifty status. That would open
a completely new front on the whole drug thing. And again,
the President of Mexico is most pushed back on this,
(04:28):
and I think that that could be a bit problematic. Obviously,
people like I said, we could put the screws to
them and their economy in a heartbeat if we really
wanted to, as far as tourism, dollars in a myriad
of other things. So either you fix this or else.
(04:52):
But again, I do think that there's just way too
many money in interests that are invested in Mexico in
more ways, one big business, big corporation after that, again, right,
big checks, And that's always what it comes down to people.
It's not you know, it's people that are in positions
of power Washington, d C. And I've laid it out
(05:14):
and how they the money that they have to raise
you know basically what they are. They're glorified fundraisers that
are also influencers on TV. That's basically what your members
of Congress do. And again, low lying fruit, big businesses
that have no problem cutting a check as long as
you vote the right way. Again, if you had people
(05:36):
that were on the up and up, we had term
limits here, if we had real campaign finance reform, we
could clean a lot of these things up. Well most
certainly could clean a lot of things up. But again
that that's again, that's taking power away from these people
(05:57):
that have gotten enormously wealthy in the wealthy area in
the entire country, which is Washington, d C. Not really
interested in solving the problem. So we'll see what's going
to happen. Hopefully, hopefully this is just you know, again
the president and putting various different stuff out in the
media to force the hand of Shinebaum and actually maybe
(06:19):
do something when it comes to these cartels. But I
don't I don't see Trump. I don't see Trump putting
troops on the ground. I just don't see him doing it.
