Chris emphasizes that the U.S. is a nation of laws, not men, criticizing Donald Trump’s executive order to cut taxpayer funding for PBS and NPR, labeled as “radical woke propaganda,” and a tweet threatening to strip Harvard’s tax-exempt status. Using a lacrosse analogy about following rules despite disagreement, Markowski argues these actions bypass constitutional processes and will likely face lawsuits. He stresses that even if he agrees with defunding NPR/PBS, proper legislative channels must be followed to avoid legal battles and uphold the rule of law. www.watchdogonwallstreet.com

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact that we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
We are a nation of laws, not men laws, and
you know what, people, there's some laws we don't like.
You know, I'm going to parlay this into sports. I'm
a lacrosse dad, lacross dad, coach, played kids playing college.
The women's game is different than the men's game. And

(00:37):
one of the things that really annoys me about the
women's game is the fact that if someone a team
commits a penalty against another team, they stop the play
right away, even if I'm saying everything is going right
for your team. You might have scored a goal, they

(00:58):
may have a fast break on of it, and I'm like,
why would they do that? That doesn't make any sense.
Let them play on until the ball goes out of
bounds or the other team gets possession. That's how they
do it in the men's game, and I prefer that.
But anyway, neither here nor there, I can't do anything
about it. That's the rules. The rules. I may not
like the rule, but it's the rules, and that's kind

(01:21):
of how our country works. And to watch various different
people go on TV pundits whatever it may be. But
but but but but but but but the polls say this,
But the polls say that they want people want Trump
to do this. That's all well and good. Like I said,
I've just been saying this, but I can't understand what's

(01:41):
taking through people's heads. Okay, is the fact that you
have to follow the rules even if you don't like
it them. If you don't like them, change them. Okay.
Quite frankly, I'd rather, you know, I'd rather not see
them really tinker with the constitution outside of putting a
balanced budget them in there. But you know, I saw

(02:02):
this story. Here's another example. Because I know this is
gonna it's gonna be a lawsuit file. Then this is
gonna go away. Uh. Trump signs executive order to slash
taxpayer funds to PBS NPR, calling it radical woke propaganda.
You know what, I don't disagree. Okay, I don't disagree

(02:28):
with this at all. But guess what. Guess what, there's
a process and how you need to go about doing
this executive orders aren't the way. Trump fired out another
tweet today, we are going to be taking away Harvard's
tax exempt status. It's what they deserve. Okay, listen, Uh,

(02:51):
I's fine, but you know, I don't quite understand why.
If you're gonna eliminate Harvard's, why not just eliminate them all?
And if you're going to do that, you're going to
obviously have to go through the proper channels to do it,
because guess what, you're just gonna get tied up in
a bloody courts again again. We are a nation of laws,

(03:14):
not of men. That's why we're still here, still here,
two hundred and fifty years later. Watchdog on Wall Street
