Nobody should have job security—corporate execs with golden parachutes, college coaches, MLB players, government workers, teachers with tenure—all breed garbage. No fear of losing your job? No incentive to excel. Job security isn’t in the Constitution. Bust your ass or get replaced. Public sector perks outshine private sector—ridiculous. Healthy fear drives success. Disagree? Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it will have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Damn right, I'm gonna say it. Nobody, nobody should have
job security.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
Oh boy, I can't wait to see the hate mail
that I'm going to get after this one. Yep, nobody
should have job security. Yeah, I'm talking. I am talking
about corporate executives with golden parachutes. I'm talking about college
basketball coaches that you can't fire them because you're gonna

(00:44):
have to pay them an exorbitant amount of money. I'm
talking about major League baseball players. You know what, you
get cut, you lose your contract. Job security breeds garbage. Again,
if you are not afraid, if you are not afraid
of losing your job, what is your incentive to go

(01:08):
the extra mile? Just throwing that out there now again,
There's going to be people out there that are going
to go the extra mile, gonna bust their ass no
matter what.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
I don't have job.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Security built up a business here. But if I don't,
if I don't bust my ass. If I don't do
a great job, guess what someone will replace us, someone
will do better. We'll lose our clients, will lose our business.
Who is entitled, honestly, who should be entitled to job security?

Speaker 2 (01:41):
And you're watching right now?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Oh yeah, social media, all these government workers having a
collective freak out. Hey, I was gonna lose my healthcare,
and you know, I don't know what I'm gonna do.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I've been had this dream job and I've been working
from home for so long, and I had job security.
Screw you.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
To put it mildly, Okay, Well, we we're oh ware.
Does it say anywhere in the Constitution that Americans are
guaranteed job security? No? You know what, you can go
bust your butt, you can create opportunities you want. You
want job security, go hard or go home. I got

(02:20):
a little Gordon Gecko. You either do it right or
you get eliminated job security. When people talk about that,
well that's part of the implied deal. If you're working
for the government, it's got that job security.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
Loony Okay. The public sector.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Government workers get a much better deal than the private
sector does, which is ridiculous as far as benefits, as
far as far as vacation, as far as pay is concerned.
There should be no job that had jobs right now,
I'm looking at you school teachers.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I've got tenure. What so you know you're in now
you can just you can coast because you've got tenure.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Now, how many people out there had teachers that you
knew were mailing it the hell in? How many people
had professors in college that never even showed up at class,
had their little graduate assistance teach the whole damn thing?

Speaker 2 (03:22):
How many?

Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Me too? That has to end.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
And again I'm saying this across all fields. Again, I
don't understand that concept. Okay, I get up. You should
have fear every day. Sorry, you should healthy fear, healthy
fear every single day that you know what, if you're
not busting your butt, you're not giving it all.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
You know what, you could be replaced, someone could take
your job. Got a problem with that? Yay moved to

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
