Chris calls out Republicans for once again breaking their fiscal promises amid the latest government shutdown drama. From Trump’s talk of “great healthcare deals” to GOP lawmakers agreeing to extend costly Obamacare-era subsidies, he argues it’s all political theater—more spending, no reform. With both parties feeding the insurance industry and pushing America deeper into debt, Chris warns that Washington’s “solutions” only make the real problem worse.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski shut.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Down promises promises. I keep thinking of that nineteen eighties
I promises promises by naked eyes. Never had a doubt
in the beginning, never a doubt. Trusted you too in
the beginning. I loved you right through. What were so
many other lines in this one? Oh yeah, you made
me promises, promises you'd know you'd never keep promises promises.

(00:37):
Why do I believe, Well, we didn't believe. We told you,
We told you. Yeah, we got a lot of promises
from those Republicans and the Trumpet mission. Oh yeah, we're
going to start seeing all sorts of cuts being made.
Oh yeah, the Office of Management budget A're going to
start cutting back things and all people are going to

(00:59):
be We're gonna up a federal workforce down to size.
You know, the promises to I heard this morning. Oh yeah,
somebody's federal workers that are furloughed right now. They're not
going to get back pay. I mean, come on, man,
you stop insulting our intelligence. You just lie and lie

(01:21):
and lie. Republicans are not doing crap. Oh and then
we got exactly what I told you here. President Trump
signaled a willingness to strike a deal on funding healthcare
subsidies demanded by Democrats. Where you have a negotiation going

(01:44):
on right now with the Democrats that could lead to
very good things. I like to see a deal made
for great healthcare. Dude, Come on, man, are you great healthcare?
You're gonna cut another check, that's all. You're just gonna

(02:05):
cut another check. You're not gonna fix the problem. You're
not gonna solve the problem nothing. All you're doing. All
you're doing is just handing on the check. You know,
it was funny it was you had. Ron Johnson was
on Fox Business and he was asked, you know, should
you know Republicans negotiate an Obamacare premiums to end government shutdown?

(02:27):
He said, we'd better not again. The reason premiums are
increasing is because of the faulty design of Obamacare. Throwing
more money at it will just exacerbate the problem. So
Republicans better not agreed to fund the failed Obamacare experience. Experiment.
What we need to do is just pass the House
resolution clean continue resolution. My guess is eventually they're gonna

(02:48):
have to relent because public pressure is definitely running against
them right now now, Ron, I love you, buddy. Sorry,
not happening, Republicans, mark my words. We told you day
one will cave, always do one hundred time. Republicans will cave,

(03:12):
and they'll declare victory. Oh we negotiated, Oh Trump, Isaac,
you know, these a world class negotiating a deal maker,
big deal maker, big deals going on right now. You
believe that malarchy? You believe that crap? Are you kidding me? Yeah?
It was funny this, This was actually even in the

(03:32):
Washington Post. Okay, Democrats are demanded the Republicans agreed to
extend the COVID era insurance subsidies. So basically, you know,
basically it wasn't for COVID. I guess nobody would afford
their health insurance at this point in time, is what
you're saying. So so COVID COVID era subsidies are saving

(03:57):
everybody's shirts right now. So you got what you basically say,
cold was actually a good thing. I guess according to them,
the Congressional Budget Office estimates they will cost three hundred
and fifty billion over the next decade. Again, they were
phased out in twenty twenty five. We told you they

(04:17):
came in in twenty twenty one. This is the Washington
Post in a moment of clarity. The real problem is
that the Affordable Care Act was never actually affordable. President
Barack Obama's signature achievement allowed people to buy insurance on
marketplaces with subsidies based on their income. The architects of

(04:37):
the program assumed that risk pools would be bigger than
they turned out to be. As a result, policies cost
more than expected. We told you this. Anybody would have
a brain knew that this was going to happen. But
you also have to understand as well that these big
insurance companies. Health insurance companies write nice checks to both

(04:58):
Democrats and Reportupblicans. They're making a fortune. They are making
a fortune. Where do the subsidies come go to then
goes to them. It's just it's just government money going
into their pockets. It's kind of like EBT for like
Walmart and Target their grocery business. How much money Walmart

(05:21):
and Target make a year just off of our tax
dollars just being funneled to them through uh the food
stamp program eb T. Wait, same thing with health insurance
companies getting fat and happy. Yeah, And the funny thing
is they're putting out all of these, uh these warnings
here talking about you know, how much, how much it's
gonna cost, and prices are gonna go up, and oh,

(05:44):
you know, I'm people my district are not going to
be able to afford it. When will insurance companies do.
They're just gonna deal with the fact that they're losing
all of their customers or or might they have to
lower their prices. Oh no, everybody's gonna lose their health

(06:07):
in Jersey. It's gonna be anarchy. It's gonna be to
It'll be fine, maybe just fine, not a big deal.
The problem is is that nobody wants to solve the problem.
They don't want to solve the problem. They're not solving anything.

(06:28):
They're pretending like it's not there. They're gonna print more money,
put us further into debt, further debase the currency. That's
the plan right now. That is your Republican party doing
nothing to solve the problem. And like I said Mark

(06:50):
my words, they will cave watchdog on Wall street dot
