Chris argues that Republicans should embrace a government shutdown as leverage to confront two of the nation’s most contentious issues: illegal immigration and the failures of Obamacare. From enforcing E-Verify and ending incentives that attract undocumented workers, to cutting bloated government programs and rethinking health care, he makes the case for bold action. But will lawmakers have the resolve to follow through, or will political pressure push them back to compromise?

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Shut the front door. Yeah, I first heard that on
some commercial where again they're trying to say something else,
but they use shut the front door. I'm saying to
Republicans at this point in time, when it comes to
this shutdown, shut the government down. You cannot compromise with

(00:40):
Democrats when it comes to all of this healthcare hull
of baloo that they're trying to shove down everyone's throats.
This is an opportunity, This is a great opportunity to
get to help the cause when it comes to illegal
immigration here in this country, to maybe put the best

(01:04):
put forward to actually getting rid of Obamacare, because our
healthcare system at this point in time sucks. It's awful
every way shape matter of form. Health insurance premiums are
going to skyrocket for everybody that actually pays for their
health insurance. And maybe, just maybe we'll be able to

(01:28):
get rid of a lot of government employees. I guess
there's a little caveat in the rule. From caveat and
the rule that you know, the government shut down, you
can fire workers. I'm like, cab at it, have at it,
get to work. There's a certain reality that again I've

(01:49):
gotten into debates with people, email conversations, been on shows
when it comes to illegal immigration here in this country.
I I happen to believe people argue with me all
the time. I happen to believe that the walls not

(02:09):
really necessary. In fact, that you know, we could save
a fortune. We don't need nearly as many border patrol agents. Hell, hell,
you know they're they're they're you know they're they're having
this mass mass hiring of ice agents, paying fifty thousand

(02:30):
dollars bonuses for ice. And I'm like, you know, that's
all well and good, but why not better just to
have people's self deport And again, it's something I've been
beating this drum for a very long period of time.
Why okay, here here's my response. Oh need all I say,

(02:53):
it's got to get rid of these people, know mega, Yeah,
I understand going after the criminal element, but not everybody
is a criminal. Why do people come to the United States?
Why why why do people from Africa go to Europe,

(03:15):
you know, end up landing in southern Europe and look
to go to the northern European, Scandinavia, German countries. Why. Well,
a couple of reasons. They can get a job. Reason
number one, can get a job, or they're getting free stuff.

(03:37):
I've talked about this here on the program. I witness
it with my very eyes in New York City with
the handouts and the hotels. And it's not the only
place where that's the case. But you've got to think
about this for a second. Illegals here in the United States,
they come here against most jobs, are not utilizing everify.

(04:02):
They should. And one of the reasons why many industries
do not use e verifying, why it's not been enforced
across the country, and that's both Democrats and Republicans, is
a desire for cheap labor, plain and simple. Okay. I've
railed against the US Chamber of Commerce for year decades

(04:23):
plus on this because they were a major pushback when
it comes to this. No, No, can't do ere punishing
the business. No, it's just are you here legally or
are you not here legally? Do you have paperwork? And
on its real frick and simple to do. It's not
a difficult endeavor. Okay, it really isn't anyway anyway. Okay,

(04:51):
get a job, not that hard, get free stuff as
an illegal here in this country we actually talked about.
Was it that that car loan company, that Tricolor that's
going bankrupt right now? You could get yourself car loan,
a car loan, You can get yourself bank loans, you

(05:15):
can open up a bank account. You do all these
things being illegal. You can get a mortgage being illegal,
You get a insurance, you can get a driver's license,
you can get free healthcare, you can get in state
college tuition as an illegal, why do they come here?

(05:41):
That's why. That's it. You eliminate all that and it
doesn't cost anything zero to enforce the law. Yeah, you
might have to go after and check to make sure
employers are doing the right thing and actually enforce the
law and go after them and find the hell out
of them if they're hiring illegals. Guess what problem solved.

(06:03):
People will self deport. It's just that simple period the end,
you get it solves that problem, and I don't have
any problem with it, you know, But on the flip
side as well, do we need workers here in this country?

(06:23):
Do we need to uh fix our immigration system? We do.
But you'll be honest with you, I don't want migrant workers.
I don't want people coming and going. Well, why why
do I want that? Why do I want that? People
want to come here and they want to become an
American system And you know it's an assimilation Processer Michael

(06:45):
Savage used to rant tom by the border language culture.
Uh yeah, you know what, you come here, you learn
the language. No more pressing this. You know, one for English,
two for Spanish. Bullshit. Learn the language. It's the language
of success. And you know what it also does too.
It also you know there are people talking well, you
know it's gonna drive wages down. It only drives wages

(07:08):
down when business owners are not paying a prevailing wage.
If they are legally here in the country, they have
to pay a prevailing wage. Again, problem solved. And like
I said, it's not like we don't need the workers.

(07:33):
We do.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
We do.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Because if you think you think it's going to be
a walk in the park, okay, walk in a park
taking away benefits from American citizens that have figured out
how to game the system and spend the rest of
their lives on the couch watching Netflix. Good luck with that. Okay,
it's easier to do this, It's easy to do what

(08:00):
I am saying. You're not You're not gonna do that,
and they're not gonna do that because you know, it's
it's the Democrats would have an absolute up or you know,
start taking away people's benefits. I mean, for crying out loud,
they want to put work requirements, simple work requirements for
able body people, would medicaid and they their underwear got
into a complete bunch. This This is a problem solver,

(08:28):
and again you need to follow through with it again,
step in the right direction. Maybe fixing Obamacare again, probably
a little bit more biting off a little bit more
than I can chew. But again that's that's a disaster.
That's a disaster that I don't know. Maybe at some
point in time, maybe at some point in time when

(08:50):
the insurance costs get just that high, people will have
a collective freak out. But uh, you know, I think
that unfortunately, probably what Congress will do is they'll probably
just end up doing what Bernie Sanders wanted, and it's
going to be medicare for all, but anyway, neither here
nor there. Watchdog on Wallstreet dot Com

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
