Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So, now let's see I told you so a moment
spirited the airlines heading to bankruptcy. Yep, they are looking
to restructure in chapter eleven. You know, that's all well
and good, but they're canceling routes. Again, we told you

(00:38):
this was going to happen. Why in God's creation did
the the government? Why the guys whould block block the
merger between Jet Blue and Spirit? Why would they do that?
I don't know? And is it better now? And again
I would love for somebody to actually speak to these

(01:01):
people in the UH the Justice Department and ask them, so,
why you know, are you guys happy now? Is it
better now that Spirit is going bankrupt? I mean they
were concerned about concerned about people not being having access
to discount carriers. Listen, new airlines pop up, they come

(01:24):
and they go. But this would have an essence, would
have saved Spirit Airlines. Now again, you know, they go
to chapter eleven, they're going to be put on life
support and who knows how long they're going to go
ahead and last. Again, this is what you get when
you get government bureaucrats that don't know their you know,

(01:46):
talks from a hole in the ground and make calls
on things because it makes them feel good, gives them
a sense of purpose. Sometimes people I know all got
to spirit discount care. So what so, what is it
going to be better now that they're canceling routes and

(02:06):
they're going to have to lay people off and have
to go into Chapter eleven bankruptcy and you know what's
going to happen next. But do you think that the
company is going to rise from the dead. The only
hope is again you get a change in leadership in Washington,
DC that will allow this company to be taken over
and move forward. Quite frankly, Jet Blue needed the jets

(02:29):
because of everything that was taking place with Boeing and
what was going on and what they wanted to do.
They needed it, and they need the staff, they need
the pilots, they need all these things. Why their performance
time is so bad they just don't have those workers.
This could have certainly helped and again. You know, I'm
sorry people. I would rather be honest, I'd rather pay

(02:50):
a little bit more for a ticket and have greater
reliability out of an airline that it's going to be
on time, it's going to take off on time, all
of those things. Sometimes you get what you pay for.
