Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Yeah, Syria and the Jedi mind trick. Now, if you're
not familiar with the Jedi mind trick, okay, it's a
Star Wars sub reference, and it was in the Star
Wars movie where Obi Wan Kenobi's with Luke and the
land Speeder and the stormtroopers come up to them and
they're looking for they're looking for R two D two

(00:38):
in particular, looking for these droids and he goes, these
are not the droids you're looking for, And then the
stormtrooper goes, these are not the droids we're looking for,
move on, And Luke was like, how'd you do that?
And he's like, well, the Force, the Force can have
powers over the weak minded. I thought about that and
watching the coverage of Syria over the course of the weekend,

(01:02):
and yeah, it's it's amazing. Actually, I'm gonna I'm gonna
give one interview. In particular was John Roberts, I think
on Fox News he's interviewing. He's interviewing Representative Joe Wilson,
Republican South Carolina, talking on the latest developments out of Syria.

(01:25):
And he asked the question to say, hey, listen, he
got rid of a sod, but this, you know, the
character that's in there, they'll look like it's going to
be much better. So what is Joe Wilson. Joe was, hey,
you know what, I hear your kids, God, the Missouri
University or whatever. He starts going off on this weird
ramp and then he doesn't answer the question and says,

(01:45):
this is like the next this is like the fall
of the Berlin Wall. This is just like it. It's
just like the Berlin Wall is falling. And I'm like,
what you're equating what just took place in Syria to
the Berlin Wall coming down again. Let's let's go to

(02:07):
the videotape. Let's go back to remember Arab spring. Oh,
it's Arab springtime for Arabs? And what was that that
was in Tunisia? I think that that thing kicked off.
How did that work out? Oh? Yeah, it was wonderful, wonderful.
After that, we had ben Ghazi and we had libbya
fall Kadafi killed, open air slave markets. All these people

(02:34):
gonna moving into Europe trying to get out of die.
It was springtime, Arab spring. This is like the Berlin
Wall falling. You trying to make heads or tails out
of this score card. Did you watch Joe Biden give
his little talk about this, And I'm whether it be

(02:57):
right wing left, they're all spinning it, spin it spinning, spinning.
You have the guy that has taken over Syria, he
runs it's al Qaida. Oh they change, they change their mark,
they change their logo. They're branding a little bit, but

(03:19):
still al Qaeda. And they're almost playing it like it's
not I want to pull my hair on for crying
out loud. If this guy's so great and wonderful, why
does the United States have a ten million dollar bounty
on his head? Oh you know that, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Ten million dollar bounty on his head. Nobody has any idea,
any idea what is going to happen. And some of
the people that I follow on X and other places,

(04:02):
and some of them have to happen to be uh
Orthodox priests and priests and and you know Christian organizations
within that region, they're they're basically calling for everyone to
pray because they're scared out of their minds. They're scared
out of their mind there could be a mass slaughter

(04:26):
that might take place. Nobody has a clue.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
What's going on. It's being spun by. And again, you
know Joe Wilson, he's on the Armed Forces Committee, and
he's on this committee, and I'm sure he's collecting really
big chicks from the various different defense contractors that are
out there. You do you think that this is wonderful? Oh,

(04:56):
aside a horror, I'm fine. A side may be horrible.
But Saddam Hussein was a bad dude. We all know
that Saddam Hussein was a bad dude. We got rid
of him, we got right of him, and now Iran
basically runs the country. Again, we don't have a particularly

(05:19):
good track record in the Middle East as far as
toppling regimes. Again, we don't. Well, I'm sure you know
defense contractors in certain businesses and corporations that you know
basically called from some of these things. I'm sure that
they're thrilled by some of these situations. But the spin

(05:44):
that's out there and the media and how that they're
unwilling unwilling to put two and two together. This is
the same Al Kada that attacked us on September eleventh.
Al Kainda has just taken over one of their groups
has just taken over Syria, and we are being told

(06:08):
that this is a good thing. Sorry folks, sorry folks,
you know, you know, stop with the bullshit. All stocked

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
