Don’t be fooled—the D.C. shutdown fight is pure theater. In this episode:
  • Why the budget battle is nothing more than a fake pillow fight that makes us poorer
  • How Republicans are signing off on Joe Biden’s spending while pretending to resist
  • The truth about continuing resolutions and why the real squeeze comes at Thanksgiving
  • Why Obamacare still ruins health insurance for everyone—and Republicans never fixed it
  • How Bill Clinton and Al Gore in the 90s sounded more MAGA than today’s Democrats
The shutdown isn’t about cuts. It’s about keeping the spending spigot open while politicians gaslight you.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
We got ourselves a shut down pillow fight. You do understand, Okay?
I got to make this perfectly clear. This is a
pretend argument. This is a pretend fight that's taken place. Oh,
I know the horror. I know. Trump put out some
tweets making fun of Keen Jeffries and you know, the

(00:39):
usual suspects are getting the vapors clutching their pearls. That's
the racist. What did he do? You do know? Okay,
you do realize this is all mole excrement. You're just
being gaslin You know what I wish they kind of
did though, when they have these shutdowns, is they put

(01:01):
like they put the moose, Marty Moose from vacation. You
can put it outside the Smithsonian and the various national
parks that are shut down. Sorry, folks, parks closed. Moose outside.
Should have told you sol remember Candy coming out and
doing that. Anyway, Anyway, my father loved that movie me
too anyway. But anyway, neither here nor there. It's a

(01:25):
pretend fight, okay, over a budget that is going to
make you and I poorer. Anyway, it turns out we
are going to be poorer. Our nation is going to
go further in to debt. I get a kick out

(01:46):
of these high and mighty Republicans that are appearing on programs.
They're actually arguing with libs. I sectually saw a couple
when it had nothing to do with even the healthcare stuff.
They were just pointing out that you guys are just
as bad just all of this money. They're not wrong.
You do understand, Okay, you don't understand. We have presidency,

(02:11):
we have the Senate, we have the House, and we're
signing off Republicans want to sign off on Joe Biden spending.
That's what this continued resolution is. It's Joe Biden spending. Now,
what would what would actually change my mind on this,

(02:35):
What would actually change my mind on this is that
if Republicans followed through, followed through the omb guy's been
on TV here and there, followed through and actually started
cutting down the size of coming laying off government workers. Yippika.
I would love that let's get back to the days

(02:56):
of Doge. But I I don't see that happening. I
really don't see that happening. Now. I think that they're
going to talk a big game and then we're gonna
have some moment, Oh, get some sort of compromise. Well,
we'll extend it, just like I said, mark my words,

(03:18):
They'll do a continuing resolution stop gap spending bill till
the end of November, when everybody is not paying attention. Uh,
then the country starting to gear, countries getting geared up
to watch the Hallmark channel and the Christmas movies and Thanksgiving,
and then they'll royally screw us again and put us

(03:41):
further and further into debt. You doubt me on that
at all at all? Did you? Did? You doubt me
on that?

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Now?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Now you know? And it's funny as some of these
politicians look to make a name name for themselves. Ayoch.
She she obviously wants to be a senator from New York.
She you know, she actually she's a member of the House.

(04:22):
And the House passed the stopgap spending bill. They already
cast it, and she's telling she's telling Republican senators to
come to her to negotiate. You know, it was funny
as well as Chris Cuomo went off on a rant
on her. He went off on a rent. He's just like,

(04:44):
you know, this is nonsense. I said, you're not a capitalist.
You're not a Democrat, said my father. You know, Member
Limball used to call him Mario the Pious, former governor
state of New York. He was a real Democrat. You know,
you know it's funny. It's funny as well. He was

(05:04):
talking about these the old Democrats. I had a few
videos actually sent over to me to take me back
in the day, back in nineteen ninety two. Again, you
should do it. Go back and watch Bill Clinton al Gore,
Bill Clinton al Gore campaign videos from nineteen ninety to

(05:27):
watch them. Watch them Bill Clinton al Gore campaign videos.
It's maga. Basically maga. Watch some of Bill Clinton's actually
state at the Union addresses. Basically maga for crying out loud,
that's you know how much we've changed over the years.

(05:49):
But again, yeah, paid my quarterly taxes. Oh yeah, I
love right now. Check well, love right now. Check to
the government. Oh yeah, how many people love right and
I check to the government. Knowing that you know, the huge.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Some of it is just going to be spent on
interest payments or buying buying weapons and bombs for other countries,
and just spread them down the list of all the waste.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
That we have. You think we're gonna get anywhere. You
think this shutdown is going to do a damn thing.
It's not. And on the whole health care aspect while
I'm at it. While I'm going off on a rain,
I might as well continue. If I have to hear
another sob I'm sorry, talk about protecting another Democrat. We

(06:37):
gotta protect healthcare. We gotta protect people's health care. Okay,
shut up. Protect people's healthcare in this country sucks. Sucks
no matter way to what I pay for my health insurance.
Where where it has to come to the fact that
I got to pay. I gotta pay for the fact

(06:58):
that you know, I might get pregnant because of Obama
and all the other crap that's been stuffed in this thing.
I can't go out and buy simple, high deductible insurance
to cover catastrophic stuff. I can't buy that because of Obamacare.
I'm gonna deal with the crap we have now and
spend an exorbitant amount of money. The people that pay here,

(07:22):
the people that pay in this country, are paying an
exorbitant amount. We're subsidized. We subsidize it to our taxes.
We subsidize it through the cost of the premiums that
we've got to pay. It's a joke, it really is,
and it was by design. And again this is shot
in Obamacare. Put that through. What other damn Republicans haven't

(07:42):
done a damn thing to get rid of it? Nothing? Oh,
I know, I know, repeal and replace and I tried,
and McCain shot it down. Trump's first term. Maloney, they
wanted no part of that. Not to mention the fact
they didn't have crap to replace it with. That's your
Republican party. So again, don't believe. Don't believe the pillow fight. Again,

(08:08):
believe it's a pillow fight. Don't believe the crap that's
going on. Okay, they're making videos now I'm watching. Oh,
they're making influencer videos, are posting on Oh my god,
where are the Republicans. Where are the Democrats? Oh? The shutdown?
Blame it on you. There are a bunch of freeing influencers.
This is who we vote for. I guess it's on
us stet, you get the government you deserve. Watchdog on

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
