Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
So the Donald he took his stand up comedy routine.
I'm gonna call it to say Anything, to say anything,
Donald Trump's stand up comedy tour on the road at
the mount Airy Casino in the lovely Poconost Mountains in Pennsylvania. Yeah,
he was on the road yesterday and I watched it.
(00:40):
Did you watch it? Did you watch it? Before you
get angry with me? Just watch it. I know it's said.
It's about an hour and forty minutes long. About an
hour and forty minutes long. I'm gonna highlight one clip
for you here. You can give up certain products. You
(01:01):
could give up pencils because under the China policy, every
child can get thirty seven pencils. They only need one
or two. They don't need that many. You always need steel.
You don't need thirty seven dollars for your daughter. Two
or three is nice. So we're doing things right. You
(01:26):
can you can watch it yourself. Best way to determine
how well the president did in his speech is whether
or not it's on the you know, front front website,
front and center, prominent on Fox News, which it was not. Anyway, again,
(01:50):
people are going to get angry with you. Who you
do is rip Bunchrump. That's not true. That's that's not true.
He's pretty much lost that see right now when it
comes to the economy and their belief now is is
that if they go out on the road he does
(02:10):
is Donald Trump say anything, stand up to her on
the economy and tell people how great and awesome everything is.
It's going to be the case. Now again, all politicians
do this, Okay, this is what they do. And again
it insults my intelligence. You know, they hand out signs.
(02:31):
They hand out signs to people who are standing behind
the present. They always got to do that. They always
got to have people behind standing behind them for whatever
reason it may be. And they had signs there with
lower prices, higher paychecks, and they're all holding up these
signs like a bunch of trained monkeys. Anyway, put into
(02:58):
perspective where Republicans are right now, this again, this is
not true. It's is fake news. The fact that the
Republicans haven't won or are they. You know, Democrats haven't
won the mayoral position in Miami in thirty years. Not
(03:18):
really true. There was an independent I forget the name
there for a period of time basically was a Democrat.
But yeah, the Democrat won in Miami as far as
the mayor's concerned. Now. Granted the current mayor Republican dufus
(03:38):
crypto bro crap that he was trying to do. He
wasn't very good by any stretch the imagination. I think
a more telling sign in a district state house seat
in Georgia where Trump won by twelve in that district
went to a Democrat last night. This is what's happening.
(04:04):
It's funny. Actually caught this and said to me, Bill
O'Reilly was actually being interviewed and said that, hey, I
was at the Islanders game and the President called me
up and you got to take the phone call. And
he said the President proceeded to you know, basically scream
and yell at him for fifteen minutes because he pointed
(04:28):
out that affordability and the you know, issues with the
economy are going to hurt the president. Sorry, O'Reilly's not wrong.
President can come out. We did in the Politico interview,
and he could say that the economy a plus plus plus,
(04:48):
a plus plus plus plus plus. Yeah, five pluses. He
gave himself a five pluses. I haven't gotten a grade
like that ever. Ever. A plus plus plus plus plus
on the economy is what he gave himself. This is
(05:11):
I'm going to say this, and people are going to
get angry with me, The magas are going to get
angry with me. But when I say something that is
not true, let me know. Okay, I welcome it, Okay,
challenge anything. If I say something that is not accurate,
(05:31):
that is not true, I want to know, Okay, I will,
and I will correct it next day. Large company bankruptcies
are at the highest level in fifteen years. Farmers, we've
already talked about that. Order to stay afloat, they need
another bailout. This is the second farmer bailout that we've seen.
(05:54):
We saw a massive one Trump's first term another one
right now. Car debt is at its highest level ever.
Auto loan defaults are at the highest they've been in
fifteen years. We've got some of the lowest consumer confidence
numbers we've ever seen. Manufacturing is in the toilet at
(06:14):
this point in time. One point two million layoff sets,
the most we've seen since two thousand and nine. We've
got inflation running hot at three percent, where we know
about the dollar being down upwards of ten percent year
to date, fifteen year highs on home and credit delinquencies.
(06:35):
Most Americans say they're spending more on groceries and utilities
this year. I think I mentioned this yesterday. Seventy one
percent spending more utilities, fifty nine percent spending more healthcare,
forty three percent spending more housing, thirty nine percent spending more.
So this is the reality of the terrain, and this
(06:58):
is part of the problem. I talk about this all
the time in terms of how I manage money, how
we deal with the world around us. The Trump folks
might not like the reality, but they need to deal
with it. They need to deal with it and sending
(07:20):
people out, I mean Kevin, Kevin hasse to goes out
and he he he's got this stupid grin on his
face when he's asked questions and you know he's just bessing.
Scott bessen't for crying out loud. The Secretary of the
Treasury is on the road, on the road with the President,
(07:44):
and he's up in front of these folks in the
Poconos Mountains at this half assed casino in the middle
of nowhere, and he's talking about own the country's bond
salesman and bond markets fantastic, and people like, why what
is that exact you think of? People even understand what
he's talking about? Are you kidding me? I don't know
(08:14):
what to tell you, folks. I mean, I hope, I
hope things head in the opposite direction. I do, I do,
But the path they're on right now, you're talking a
massive wipeout in the midterms. This is one of the
reasons why I think Trump really wants to get rid
(08:35):
of that filibuster as soon as possible. He wants to
get everything done lickety split, lickety split, you can pull it.
Obama basically try to get as much done as he
possibly can in his first two years. You get to
look at the Obama ears. Okay, first two years. Obama
basically got everything done. I mean, it took a while
(08:57):
for things to be enacted. But if you remember the
Republican the midterm wipeout in twenty ten, it was nuts.
This is why he's pushing for that at this point
in time. I think to some degree, I think he
sees the writing on the wall watchdog on Wall street
(09:17):
dot Com,
