Chris dives into the Trump administration’s “unauthorized” April 11 letter to Harvard, demanding the elimination of DEI programs and ideological screening of international students. Despite signatures from senior officials, the White House now claims it was a mistake, while still freezing $2.2 billion in Harvard grants. Markowski calls out the administration’s disarray, likening it to a “gang that can’t shoot straight,” and questions the nonprofit status of universities, advocating a Hillsdale College model free of government funds.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it will have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
So you're saying it was a mistake. Okay, let's get
our arms around this. The White House sent the letter
we talked about this last week to Harvard outlining a
list of demands about the universities, hiring, admissions, all that stuff.
And I guess it was done without authorization. The April

(00:39):
eleventh letter demanded that Harvard eliminate its DEI programs, screen
international students for ideological concerns, among other changes. Now they're
saying that was unauthorized, even though it was signed by
Josh Gruenbaum, the Commissioner of the General Services Administration, Sean Kevney,

(01:01):
the acting General Counsel the Department of Health and Human Services,
and Thomas Wheeler, the Acting General Counsel of the Department
of Education. Uh huh. I don't know what's going on.
They're walking that back. But you know, again, the Trump
already said he was going to freeze two point two

(01:21):
billion in grants and now I guess there's another billion
that's hanging out there. You know, who knows what's going
to happen next. Again, we I've said it here on
the program. I think colleges and universities should lose their
non profit status. I've called them hedge funds for a
long period of time. I don't mind the government giving
grants and sending money if they're contracting the college or

(01:44):
university to actually do something. But again, if they're not,
if they're not getting government money and handouts without no
strings attached to it, I mean, let them do whatever
they want. I could care less. They like the Hillsdale
College model. They don't take any government money. They are

(02:06):
a conservative school. They teach what they are going to teach.
You don't like it, tough Again, I've said this for
a while. For the life of me, you know, why
are you going to send your kids to an institution
that you can you know they don't like your kind.
I can't get my arms around that have yet to
be able to. But again, I don't know what's going on.

(02:28):
These people working in the Trump White House. They don't
know what they're supposed to send, how they're supposed to
send it uh signal chats. Now you got another one
with Pete hegset going on. I mean, guys, you're looking
more and more like the gang that can't shoot straight
quite honestly, get your act together. Watch Dog on Wall
