A Queens senior citizen defended himself from a repeat offender with 15 prior arrests—and now he’s the one going to prison. Chris breaks down the insanity of New York’s gun laws, the revolving door of violent offenders, and how a law-abiding man ended up serving four years for protecting his own life. A brutal look at a justice system that punishes the wrong people.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Watchdog on Wall Street podcast explaining the news coming
out of the complex worlds of finance, economics, and politics
and the impact it we'll have on everyday Americans. Author,
investment banker, consumer advocate, analyst, and trader Chris Markowski.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Kill a bad guy, a mugger that was trying to
rob you. Come after you, do harm to you, and
you go to jail. Yes, welcome, Welcome, my friends to
New York City. A Queen's senior citizen who shot dead
a man who tried to rob him is going to

(00:41):
spend four years in prison after admitting to carrying an
unlicensed revolver. Yeah, they have very draconian gun laws in
New York. Again, this Charles Phoner, he pled guilty to
one count of criminal weapons possession and a deal to

(01:05):
end his case after two years. Probably couldn't afford his
lawyers anymore. Why why would they go after this guy?
Why what the guy came after him? Okay, he lunged

(01:26):
at him late at night in his driveway, Okay, and
he went to protect himself again, I guess they went
into his house and he had other weapons in his house. Again,
law abiding citizen, never did anything wrong, but they decided
to throw the book at him. Okay, the guy that

(01:50):
went after him, let me put him and put this
into perspective. Okay, the guy that went after him had
fifteen earns, Yes, fifteen again that you hear this again
again again, these peat These were repeat offenders. Fifteen arrests.
You think about it for a second. How many awful

(02:11):
things does a person have to do because you're not
getting caught every single time to actually be arrested fifteen times,
and then you let these people out of jail. We
see this again again. We don't do anything. It's a
revolving door. Cops know it. Gon arrest these people, you're
gonna let them out. So a senior citizen tree decision
does my opinion of public service. Okay, takes somebody again.

(02:38):
I don't like loss of life either, but I I'm sorry.
I believe that people should have the right to defend themselves.
And he's going to jail for four years. Welcome to
New York Watchdog on Wall Street dot Com.
