Speaker 1 (00:25):
Well, sorry, my hand slipped.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Oh yeah, no, Hi Jeel, but this is way fair
and strangers. Hi, Jel, and as.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I'm done, I love this some one.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
It makes me so happy.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
He only has one way to say hi, and it
is yelling Hill at the top of his lungs, even
if he's two feet from you. Just okay, Jesus Joel,
and I.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Will I will happily accept that screaming yelling Joel, I understand. Yes,
this is way for a strangers. As always, I am
joined by Joel, the son of a bent and Andrew. Hi,

(01:26):
you sound like what's his face for Saray Will Ferrell
as a it's a mom're made.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Of Chase, Yeah, Harry carry Hi.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Oh my god, that's such an I was afraid you
pick the mad cow. No, you're going too far, go
too far?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
All right, it's right.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
So we have a little bit of housekeeping at the
beginning of this episode, a little few things to chat
about instead of just ramble town for ten minutes or whatever.
So one are our day. We did drop our episode
on Thanksgiving last week, and I'm so happy that we

(02:07):
were able to do that because we had talked about
it on the show that we wanted to hang out
with you and celebrate if whatever, and that that was great. However,
our listenership plummited.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
How dare you all spend time with your families and
not us?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
So as yes, as clearly both of us are saying
right now, we understand. And but with that, we decided
to take off Christmas and New Year's So two weeks
at the end of the year there will be no
podcast drops, and I'll and I'll remind you all again
in that final week before that Thursday drop, which I

(02:48):
think Christmas is on a Wednesday, sure, and New Year's
is obviously on Wednesday because it's a week later. So
the following week, that Thursday will be like, okay, we'll
talk to you guys next year. Get to pull that joke,
and and then yeah, we'll be we'll be recording if
at least I would hope two to four episodes on

(03:09):
our quote relaxing time.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Wow, ask me how many podcasts I listen to on Thanksgiving?

Speaker 2 (03:15):
Go ahead, how many podcasts did you listen to on Thanksgiving?

Speaker 1 (03:19):
None?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
See, I didn't.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
I was too damn busy.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Yeah, exactly, So I don't know what the hell we
were talking about, Like yeah, just like Vibe with U. No,
you have to pay attention to directions and everything else
in the kitchen. But still we did it. We can
say we did it, and now going forward, we won't
do it again. And that's all well and good.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Yeah. So if Thanksgiving falls on episode release day, no blain,
no no episode, which it.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Does because we're Thursday drop day, so it is what
it is. Second thing I want to talk about so
our It wasn't last episode, it might have been the
episode before, but we covered an email by at the time.
We said their name was Becky Kendall and I had
a lovely, wonderful catch up conversation over on Instagram with

(04:12):
Beck and I just wanted to properly correct their name
on the air because that's important to me. So again,
thank you Beck for reaching out for updating me. I
love that so much. And yeah, it was good to
just connect and chat with you. And it makes me
laugh hysterically because Beck said that their girlfriend kat Hi

(04:35):
Kat doesn't listen to our show kat k Kat with
a K. Yeah, it doesn't listen to our show yet,
but knows who we are because Beck talks about us often.
And then said, oh my god, you're like you're talking
with a famous person.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yes, which no, no, no, no, Kat, No, this one's
for you.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Kat doesn't listen yet.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
You know what's going to happen is Beck is going
to be like, oh my god, Cat listen. They're saying
your name Beck and Cat.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Yeah. I love y'all Cat so much.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
That's their couple. Name that Cat.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
I love a couple of names. I don't think we
would have what would aren't Jandy? I don't like that.

Speaker 1 (05:17):
Oh no, no, that's and Drew.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
It's terrible.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
Jackens and Jack.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
I don't hate I don't hate Jack. I don't I
don't hate Jack.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
And No it sounds too it's a real jacket.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Sure anyway, Okay, So I just wanted to update Beck.
The email that we read read a couple shows ago
was from Beck Kendall and I loved it. We love you.
It was great catching.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Up, great listener, great musical artists.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Say say hello to Cat brom Us.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
This is this is us. No we don't they don't.
They don't have to. We're saying it Cat, Hello, Hi Cat?
All right? Word.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
So next thing, I had this thought, let me see
when I made this note. No, it was just it
popped into my brain when I was falling asleep last
night about no it was, Oh was it Beck's email
about the temperatures and what migrations of the hordes? I

(06:25):
think so, yeah, I think so yeah. So probably because
Beck was on the brain that I was thinking about
courtyceps in the cold and blah blah blah, And I
was like, here's the thing though, so we know, and
I'm not gonna lump cordyceeps in with every fungus and mold,
but as a general rule of thumb, let's just talk
about mold and fungi for a second. So, like, mold

(06:48):
still grows in the refrigerator, not in the fucking freezer,
but in the refrigerator, like you know, we've all forgotten
about the fucking vegetable draw on the bottom sometimes and
some funky things can happen, sure, And so it's like
it's cold, it's not freezing, but it's cold, and mold
will still grow. So there is evidence that that still

(07:10):
certain strains can survive despite temperatures. All right, yeah, okay,
but then when you when we go back out to
the global scale of things, I don't know, and I'm
meant to look it up, but I don't know if
there's mold in the Arctic or the Antarctic, probably, but
core Deceps primarily anytime we learn about it, and any

(07:33):
Nature show or Planet Earth or this, that or the other,
it's like fucking rain forests.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, jungle jump climate very humid.

Speaker 2 (07:42):
So human not a lot of humans there either, you know.
So it's just this interesting concept of certain strains of
things can persist and grow despite temperatures, but core Deceps
specifically tends to favor rainforest jungle temperatures. So how does

(08:02):
that work in the last of US Part two with
the migration in Wyoming and the now So I just
I wanted to circle back to it. That's all. That's
what my brain was thinking about last night before I
fell asleep.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Okay, do we think Endurance Survive is about the Courdyceps.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
It's not not about court Aceps.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
The whole game recontextualized Endurance Survive from the point of
view of court Accepso mind blown.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, I just thank you for going back to that, Tangent.
I wrote these notes in my phone under pod thoughts.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
I was very sleepy. I don't know what year it.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
Was yeah, but Cordceps.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
But court Aceps Endurance survive. We got there.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, So that's that's that for the opening of the show.
Because we're on a little bit of a time constraint,
we're going to dive right into the emails. This is
email episode four thousand and five, and let's go.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
So four thousand and fifth episode, here we go.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
That would be amazing, So.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
Quick math here how many he did? Uh? You know,
we did one episode a week for four thousand and
five episodes. You would have been podcasting for just over
seventy seven years, So that's just one a week. I mean, obviously,
if you did three hundred and sixty five, you know,

(09:26):
and it we're you're still podcasting for ten years. But
you know, actually eleven, it's closer to eleven. To be
quite honest with you, that's absurd. A lot of episodes.
We got a lot lot of catching up to do.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh wait, before I did anybody hear? I don't think
Andrew listened to it yet, but oh no, I played
it for you. I put the insert from Cardi b
and Meg the Stallions. Yeah, why in there where it's
just like whoa And she was like, ah, I laughed

(10:03):
a lot.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
At that look. And sometimes yes, they're just for you, you.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Know, yeah, I know they really are. You know what,
if you were driving in your car and you were
going fast on a highway, you might not have even
heard it. I'm just saying I might do more of
that stuff going forward because the joy that it brought me.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
This one's for me, This one's for me.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Yeah. So this email is from Caesar from from September ninth,
twenty twenty two. Oh, I have the giggles. I gotta
get it underchedule, all right, Hello Jack and Andrew. I
just want to tell you guys that this is now
my favorite podcast.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Done.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
I love that it is. Email's not done, grease, it is.
It is great to see two people talking about my
favorite games with the passion that I have. I'm now
listening to episode eleven. Good Lord, word, we are prompt
you two?

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Are you? Two?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Are fantastic and super funny. Barb too if.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Some it's barb stop.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
I'm trying to get rid of the gig Barba. I
love you, I love you, I love you. If someone
asked me to name two people that I've never met
and would like to have them as my friends. You
guys would be my first choice. Thank you so much
for your time, and we're creating this amazing podcast and
if possible, hold a spot for me in your group.

(11:33):
If we get some funny spores trying to dominate the world,
I promise to protect my arms.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
See if you're in, it's that easy.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
You're done your end. I have a question, has anyone
ever explained what caused the infection? How everything started? Maybe
the show will do this.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
For you.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Cheers Caesar ps. I live in Calgary and was an
extra in an episode of the show. Hope at least
one of my scenes makes the cut.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
So, first of all, I I I'm pretty sure there
are more emails from Caesar that update with a little
bit of that information, so I'll hold off asking for
all the deats until we get to those emails. However,
this is.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
An easy one, Boom. It's a layup for us.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah. One absolutely absolutely would love to have our group
in the apocalypse, and Caesar is a part of that.
So you're in. I love it. I'm in.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
I can't act like a traditional, like a historical Caesar, though,
because that's not the energy we want in our group,
you know. But burns.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Okay, well you know when in Rome.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
But wait, what we just said not in Rome? I
thought we're on the same page here.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
Wait, I thought I had my own group because I
needed to lead it with a flame.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Oh that's right, I did. You did create a splinter cell,
son of a bitch.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Well, hello, so good and I and we love you too.
And honestly, like so many of you that write in,
I'm like, this is the vibe, this is our vibe,
like we would legitimately be friends. And it's funny because
I say this stuff too about podcasts. I listened to
our YouTube channels and stuff, and I'm like, is that weird?
I don't care. I want to be friends with them.
And I love it so same energy, same vibes. You're in,

(13:27):
we're in.

Speaker 1 (13:28):
We're all together, all right, we're coming to Calgary.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Yes, we're on the way. As for the what caused
the infection? They never talked about that in the games
on the show, we know that it's bread, it's wheat,
it's green. It was infected somewhere in I believe it
was India.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah that sounds right.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
That was where the show took us, right, I believe.
So yeah, again, this has been a minute. So now
we have an we have an Andrew. Now we have
an answer, and hopefully you know that was suffice enough.
I would actually love to hear your opinion on that, Caesar,
if you have time to write in, And maybe you
did and disregard that, but yeah, thank you so much

(14:09):
for writing and I'm glad. I'm glad that we finally
got to the email.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Look, always remember, and here's something I always remember. The
least interesting part of any zombie story is how it started.
The least interesting part. It's everything that comes after it started,
how it spreads, why, and the people that are left.
That's what people do, that's the story. Yeah, Oh my god,
the walking dead are the people that are still alive.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I know.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
I remember telling that to someone who watched the actual
show and they were like, wait what, And I was like,
come on, I was like, I don't even fucking watch
the show.

Speaker 1 (14:48):
Wait a minute. It's a it's a metaphor.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Oh my god, Oh all right, it's all you all right.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
We're going back back in time, but forward in time,
from forward in time from our last email, but still
back in time to October twenty second of twenty twenty
two from Jeff.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
My name is Jeff, is hefe?

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Jeff says, Hi, folks enjoyed the email show, but I
think you made an error. Near the end, Andrew said
the WLF killed the leader of the Seraphites, but I
believe that happened before the WLF took over. Pretty sure
it was Fedra who killed her. Might be wrong, though, Jeff, Well, Jeff, boy,

(15:36):
do I have some information for you. You may be right. Okay,
I don't recall what I was talking about on that
email show, so there is a very good chance that
I may have misremembered or misspoke about that. We're getting
to it, so yes, stay tuned for episode four ten

(16:01):
where we cover that in detail.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Yeah, I don't That's the thing, like, I don't want
to go deep into Part two details because neither one
of us remembers fully. I have only played that played
that game straight through twice. It's been a while. I
don't want to talk about it because we're just going
to be repetitive on future shows. So I'm trying to
spare people that it's amazing, but also I don't want

(16:25):
to be incorrect.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
So Okay, there's a lot of mystery and intrigue. I'll
note this down in my copy book and then we
will circle back to it. Sure, and not to say
that I'm right and you're wrong, or you're right and
I'm wrong. Just lot, lot of groups of a lot
of splintering and whatnot. So we'll figure it out. We'll

(16:47):
figure it out. Yes, I'm going in, but Jeff writ's
in a week later October twenty nine. We're still in
twenty two, twenty twenty two. For those keeping tracked, Hey,
Jack and Andrew. One thing I'd like to hear more
about is your respective strategy through the combat sections. I
get the sense you're both more interested in the story
and graphics than the combat. But I find sometimes you

(17:08):
YadA YadA YadA combat sections, and I'd like to how
hear how each of you made your way through those sections.
I suspect you each do them differently. Cheers Jeff.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
So read the follow up email real quick.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Oh boy, one day Nope, now one month and one
Two days later, Jeff writes in, Hey you two, thanks
for the discussion of your combat tactics and the shout out.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Looking forward to spending more time with the two of
you once the show starts. Happy holidays as timely as
ever with the happy holidays, Jeff, as timely as ever.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yeah, see so, And I remember the reason why I
asked you to read the next one is because I
remember making a point to add that to our notes.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
That's good.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
That's good, you know, instead of getting too far ahead,
or you know.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
If you want to see me, if you want to
see me fumble through. And you can watch my stream
of left Behind as well, where just a lot of
Benny Hill chasing around while I look for supplies. That's
not normally how I do it. But you know, I'm
playing a lot of games now and I'm like, what
are the buttons again? I can't remember, stupid fingers. So

(18:21):
I got one more from Jeff, but you should read
that one.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
No, you can go.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Okay, here we go, Jeff. This closes out the chapter
of Jeff at least in the twenty. Hey you to
first off, big thank you for both the shout out
and talking about your encounter strategies, Jeff. With the consistency,
the remarkable consistency. I really appreciate it. I just say
though that I was surprised you didn't talk more about

(18:46):
the tension when you sneak past the dorm facility bloater
and you have to mash the triangle button to get
Joeld to shoulder that door open. Can be one of
the most intense moments in the game in my opinion.
On another note, you discussed a bit the comment about
the quote asshole biologist end quote mentioned in the log

(19:07):
I'd always thought that was the guy you found who
got bit and suicides after recording the message. He really
seemed like an asshole in the recording. Anyway, keep up
with the great work. Happy holidays to you and your daughter, Jeff. Jeff,
you didn't even know how topical your message would be.

Speaker 2 (19:26):
Two years later.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Two years later.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Boy, it's so taugh. It's so tough going back years
ye to try.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
That's why we're not going to do it anymore.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
No, that's yeah, that's exactly why we're plowing through this
right now. First of all, I'm glad that we did
justice to the combat strategies, and I hope that we
have continued to make a point to do that on
you know, the last few months that we've been consistent
and finished Part one, especially in the tunnel and all
of that stuff. I hope that we did a good
job there. Second, the asshole biologist mentioned in the log, so,

(20:05):
I guess I I don't know if I never I
don't know if I ever thought that, but it does
make sense because you're like, he sounds like an asshole
in the recording, and he does. Yeah, So I'm gonna
go with it.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
I'm gonna I'm gonna agree, you know, I don't I
don't have anything. I mean, it's one of those things
that's set up in a payoff in a bottle, you know. Yeah,
So that's great.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
I like that, all right.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
That enriches, that enriches the tapestry of that part of
the story a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
It does. And and going back to some of the
things we've been talking about the past few weeks, especially
like when we you know, in in like with Ish
and the sewer chapter and all of that Ish, it's
it's sad like it's a sad undertone to an already sad,
heartbreaking story to just show you the I guess, the

(21:03):
very like the variety of people and how they were
living a part of this apocalypse, and like this quote
asshole biologist was just that like an asshole, Like it's
the apocalypse, you're gonna choose to be an asshole like
I just sometimes. Yeah, it's one of those things. But
it's still sad because it's considering, like you know, the

(21:23):
suicide aspect of things. It's just never never great. So yeah, anyway,
thank you for bringing that to our attention. But moving forward.
This email is from Sarah Sarah J. From October twentieth,
twenty twenty two.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
I don't think we're gonna don't think we're gonna get
a happy Holidays in this one, but we'll see fingers.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Crossed Jack and Andrew. I just wanted to write to
let you guys know that I love the show and
listen while I work with Weed.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Wait what hold on a second? Go on, Sarah, Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Love I know you want to make the show shorter,
but please don't.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Oh don't worry, Jackie happen if anything make it longer.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
I can't believe them comes around it on all sides
by people who just want six to seven hour of
the shows.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
If we had an editor, they would be like, I
know we have an editor. I'm that person, but yes,
we do.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
Have an editor. She is currently also the host of
the show.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
If we got someone else.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
All right, let Sarah talk.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
My face FACS. I love all the chats and points
that you make. I feel like I'm part of the group,
just talking about the game I love most. And yes,
I'm so excited about the upcoming show. I do want
to add my two cents about the end of the game,
and yes, if there was a vaccine, what would happen?
I also want to add Ellie's point of view about

(22:57):
what happened. You made a good point about not only
making it, about not only making it but also getting
it to people. I don't think it would be weaponized,
but actually getting it to people to take it in
parentheses anti vaxxers would be the challenge, and who the
fuck would be a test subject. I think it would
take a lot of convincing to get people to inject

(23:18):
themselves with quote a cure. Even if there was a vaccine,
it wouldn't really change much, just make it so maybe
no more clickers could be made. You could still die
from your throat getting ripped out and getting bombed with acid.
I think if someone tried to storm the castle, the
fireflies would just give it to them, like you want this, Okay,
that's kind of the plan Anyway. I don't think Joel

(23:41):
saved Ellie because of the vaccine or even because it
would kill her. It was grief and wanting to avoid
that pain. Again, one hundred thousand percent, I agree with you.
Joel even made up a lie because he knew what
he was doing was against Ellie's wish. The one line
that comes to mind from part two is, quote, my
life fucking mattered, and you took that from me. I

(24:01):
can't imagine how that would feel, going from I can
save the world to now what.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Do I do?

Speaker 2 (24:07):
I guess I'll just leave it as quote, video game
as shit. And they're writers, not doctors. So yeah, this
part has so many holes to poke. Please keep them coming.
And don't worry about the length. First, that's what she said. Second,
I absolutely I agree. I mean it it the whole
vaccine thing.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
I thought you agreed about. I thought you were agreeing about.
Don't worry. We're not going to worry about the length.
They're going ten out. We're going to do a twenty
four hour episode.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
That no, I can't, Oh god, I would be.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Here's what you do. You take every episode we've ever
done up to part one. You compile it into one
sixty hour you chop off all the tops of tails, right,
and you just you're like here, here.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Just listen in a way. Yeah, I mean people, I
don't know, that's maybe.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
It's like that's exactly what they want, as I'm understanding
it from the emails.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
That's okay to go back to this particular email. I'm
glad that we have had a few emails in the
last couple of weeks that have talked about specifically this
this vaccine component yeh, and how it would how it
wouldn't work. Essentially, I'm not even gonna say how it

(25:31):
would work, because it it would not work. And from manufacturing,
not even that, from testing to then manufacturing to then
distributing to then like, it just would not fucking work.
And I going from there, I fully agreed Joel killed
all of those people and saved Ellie, not because he

(25:54):
didn't necessarily believe in the vaccine. Even if he did
believe in the vaccine, he still would have done the
same thing, and it's still, in my opinion, would have
been justified because his love for Ellie and his loss
of Sarah still set that every motion, every action that
he took in that hospital was already written long before

(26:16):
it happened, So we are in We are in agreement
with one another one hundred percent, Sarah, And uh, I
just I love that you work with Weed. Also, I
will bring that up.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
The best part.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Yeah, I was getting back to it. Wonderful, just wonderful.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
And listen if you want to send any free samples
over also, you know that's cool. Yeah, we're paid samples.

Speaker 2 (26:45):
I mean, if you have a website.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Pennsylvania is getting there slowly eventually.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
So slow. Any Yeah, we love some video game ass shit.
At certain points, I get irritate at others. I think
this is one of those times where it's less silly
for me and more serious unfortunately. But you're right. The
writers were not doctors, nor were they ever pretending to be.

(27:14):
It was just science for the sake of Oh this
makes sense, and it's believable enough because it's the Apocalypse,
people will buy it. But if you look a little
closer at it, everything starts to fall apart a little bit.

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Yeah, I mean, I don't want to diminish the writer's
contribution and potentially even their research into this, because I mean,
you know, you don't have to be a doctor to
write er, right, I would wager that most of the
people that write er are not doctors.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
First of all, Er has been off the air for
like twenty five years.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Okay, I mean whatever, Boston Legal. I don't think it's
lawyers writing that again off the air, right, Okay, the
West Wing. You don't have to be the president literally
give up, all right? Okay, Bill Lawrence writes Shrinking, a
show that we are currently watching that is on the

(28:09):
air right now. I can tell you that Bill Lawrence
is not a psychiatrist nor a psychologist.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Okay, but I would wager that he sat down with
psychiatrists and counselors and psychologists and did the best that
he could.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
We're making the same point here. I feel like they
probably sat down with a virologist, maybe an epidemiologist to
get the broad strokes of how something like this might spread. Right.
It's also possible that they just watched a bunch of
zombie stuff and they were like, good enough.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Yeah, I don't I legitimately, and this is not listen.
I know I've talked quite a lot of shit on
end and end, but legitimately, do not think scientists and
surgeons and doctors and virologists and epidemiologists. I don't think
they were consulted on this game. I don't get that impression.
And I know we can make jokes about Er and

(29:05):
west Wood and all that shit, but like that was way.
That was in a time when the Internet was just
being born and people just bought whatever was on TV
because they didn't fucking know better if you weren't a doctor,
you know what I'm saying. So like things are different
because you can open up a fucking computer and Google.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Yeah, I mean, but they still here's the thing, they
still make. Those shows still exist even I mean it's
not Er, but it's what was that one that you
watched that was like, uh, Firefighters.

Speaker 2 (29:35):
No, I've never seen that, the one on Fox.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
It was like the most improbable shit nine one one.
You're like, what is this show? I mean we only
watched like six or seven episodes of that, but every
time it was the most over like this, Yeah, if
this much stuff happened to just one person, let alone
this group of ten, they would be irreparably damaged for

(30:00):
the rest of their lives mentally.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Yah.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
So trauma, it's just you wouldn't who would go into
work ever? If like every time, you're like, Jesus Christ,
oh my god, helicopter crashed into a building and knocked
a water tower over. Now it's flooding the subway. It's like,
what's happening? It was one.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Time every week, every week too, just like the end
of the world, End of the city shit, because I'm
pretty sure that was in La.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
And you're right, there were nine pregnant women. We can't
get to them. But we have the fire on the
top floor, the flooding in the subway. What what where
do we send our resources?

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Well, we got to go through the middle.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
That show, that show nine is actually video game ass shit,
the show that's actually what it is. So it's entertaining.
Don't get me wrong. I would never put a lot
of time or effort into watching it. But if it
was on, you watch it and you're like, you're that
saying like you can't make this stuff up. You can

(31:04):
make this stuff up? You know. It was like that's
nine one one.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
You fucking laugh. Just took me on, like.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
I can't, I can't do it. It's fine, it's fine.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Oh god, oh my god, it was Where were.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
We naughty dog? That's right? Yes, sorry, Craig Mason probably
did consult an epidemiologist.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Yes, that's the difference. That's the difference.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
So that's why there is some level of what do
we want to call very similitude was the word I
was going to use.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Wow, okay, to the to the early parts when you know,
when they're when they realize that something is happening, but
also there's no way to stop it.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
That scene, which I believe takes place in India with
the it's it was the doctor, that one doctor and
they're like, there's we can we literally can't do anything.
It's too late, right, yeah, so or that that was
when they were gonna spoilers for the show. I guess
they're like, bomb it.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
Right, so they have to bomb yeah, just because but
by that point it was already too late.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
So that's the thing. Yeah yeah, so so yeah, it's
nine one one and that's naughty dog.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Wow, I didn't say that, you did, No, no, no.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
There's two sides of a coin, right, there's the one
side that doesn't care, and there's the other side that
has some.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Care, some care, And I'm going to put it under
the microscope and I'm gonna pull it apart and if
it falls apart, that's not on me.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
You an epidemiologist, knock it all maybe.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Anyway, anyway, thank you so much for your email, Sarah,
and we hope you're We hope you're doing well.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Sarah my dealer, Sarah is my dealer.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Yeah, we are not gonna finish this today.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
We don't have no we got it. We gotta here
we go. Chop chop, mother, father? Am I going? Are
you going?

Speaker 2 (33:14):
You're going?

Speaker 1 (33:14):
All? Right? Here we go. This one is from Jessica
Pe on November two two. Hey, I just wanted to
take a moment to tell you how incredible I think
your podcast is.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Blow down.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
I just wanted to I told you we gotta get
through this. You're interrupting me now I gotta speak thrice
as fast. Don't do that, all right, Jessica says, I
just wanted to take a moment to tell you how
incredible I think your podcast is. And I'm only on
the first episode. I love your passion for the game
and its characters, how you pick up on the small

(33:52):
details others might have missed, and your joint thirst for
Joel because well don't we all sisters? Amen? Amen, Jessica
with Barbe who I've endored this game and Joel for
nine years, and the remake has made me come back

(34:14):
to this game and play through again for the one
hundredth time and it still never gets old. I'm so
thankful I found your awesome podcast and to finally find
others who appreciate this incredible series as much as I do.
You mentioned in the first episode of Looking at All
the Pictures in Joel's House. I did the same thing
with the new epic photo mode. Don't get me started.

(34:34):
And I don't know if you guys saw this, but
in Joel's office on his noticeboard, he has this letter
written by Tommy as a kid to Joel. It's the
most wholesome thing ever, and I think it speaks volumes
about their relationship. It says, Hey, Joel, I know I
should be super psyched that I got to go to camp,
but I didn't realize how much i'd miss you anyway.

(34:56):
Can't wait to see you in a few weeks and
tell Mom I love her and let me know how
you're is coming together. Hopefully one day Mom will let
me ride it. Doubt it, love Tommy, I mean, come on,
pulling at the heartstrings enough this game. I love it anyway,
keep up the amazing work. You guys are awesome. Jessica

(35:18):
P from the UK, I guess with the greatest Instagram
of all time? Should I say this on the air?

Speaker 2 (35:27):
She gave it to please please because I I've been
following jess for years now on Jaded Vader and Telu podcast.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Go ahead, Jessica's I'm gonna I'm gonna say it first
and then I'll let you know. But it's here. Let
me try. This is what I can do here. You're
all right girl?

Speaker 2 (35:47):
So it's that was like Joel imitating Arthur. Okay, I
don't like.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
To do it, all right, You're all right girl. It's
a little bit yeah, it's like a little bit higher,
but that's okay. Why you are a l R I
G H T g U three rs and then NL
so us You're all right girl.

Speaker 2 (36:10):
You gotta emphasize the girl because she has several rs.
I love, I love, I love that so much and
fantastic virtual photographer. Just gonna put that out there right now.
You're a right girl, just wonderful. I yes, please please
go follow. I haven't checked to see if the account
is still active to be perfectly honest, because I've been

(36:30):
out of the loop with VP for a little while,
so I apologize. And whenever I go onto TLU podcast
for Instagram and posts and stuff like that, I'm usually
just on and write off after I do what I
need to do. But Jessica, thank you so much for
writing in. When I had seen your user name, your handle,
I was like, O, mfg, like this is back pretty

(36:52):
much I literally years and I don't know like it
just I don't. It makes It's like a crossover. That's
what I'm at. Like my virtual photography. People know me
as a virtual photographer in one area and then people
know me as a podcaster in the other areas. So
when those two mix or merge, I'm like, oh my god,
thank you so much, because they don't normally. Yeah, because

(37:16):
a lot of you know, a lot of people that
I know in the VP community do not listen to
our podcast. It's just one of those they you know,
for one reason or another. And I do not mind
at all, but I just very much appreciated that. So Jessica,
I hope you are doing well and thank you very
much for your email. And as for the letter that

(37:38):
Tommy wrote, to Doel about being away at some and
I do remember I took I did take photos of that.
It was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time,
because you can just look at that, like take that
nugget of brotherly love essentially, and what happens to their

(38:00):
relationship as time goes on, Like Joel was clearly a
young father and he has this younger brother, and how
did that affect him becoming an uncle when he was
who knows, like twelve thirteen, you know what, Like that's
who How the fuck would I act? You know what?
I mean? Who knows? And then from that point on,
then losing Sarah and having to deal with that, having

(38:24):
to deal with an older brother who's just like dead
inside after and something traumatic happened many times, likely on
their journey before they split, and he went one way
because of his need to believe in ideologies and stuff,
and Joel just being completely fucking done with the world.
So it just it's so beautiful, but it also breaks
my heart. And this was one of the things that

(38:46):
was put in the game when it was remade and
released in September of twenty twenty two, So we never
had the opportunity to talk about it you and I.
So I'm glad that we do have the chance to
talk about it right now because it's beautiful and I
love that Joel kept that for so many years. Like
he's what twenty eight thirty years old?

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Yeah, in summer camp, So how old would you be? Technic? Well,
what's the difference there?

Speaker 2 (39:15):
I there's not a definitive answer, but in my brain,
I always go four to six years, all right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
I mean biker and like a motorcycle. So maybe he's
eighteen and Tommy's twelve.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
Yeah, twelve thirteen between there.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
Yeah, that's cool.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Yeah, it's just I love it. I love it so much.
So thank you so much for writing. And I'm glad
we got around to it right now because I feel
like we finish the game and I'm missing it very
much and that kind of takes me back to it.
So perfect timing.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Is yes, so Jessica, Yes, yes.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Thank you so much. Jess appreciate you. Hope you're doing well,
Hope life is thriving for you. And uh yeah, if
you're still listening, drop us an email. The uh so
we're going back to Chris p From December fifteenth, twenty
twenty two.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
I think we're gonna get a happy holidays.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Let's see maybe so Hi jack And in parentheses and
Andrew per the regular patrols in Jackson. The game depicts
the patrol structure as a two person team on horseback.
This would never be the case. If one of the
two people is injured, killed, or infected, there would be
a solo patrolman out there on their own. The prevalence

(40:36):
of encountering multiple infected and multiple uninfected killer assailants at
one time makes this structure ridiculous. I think it would
quickly become apparent that three or four person teams would
be the way to go, maybe more personally, I like
the idea of a five person team. Safety in numbers.
It's clear why they needed to go with pairs. Ellie

(40:57):
and Dina get that awkward early time alone their kiss
at the party, then intimate time in the weed den,
and Joel and Tommy need to be alone for their
interaction with the WLF. So it seems narrative driven ellipsies,
But patrols of two would never be a thing in
my opinion, it's too dangerous. And Chris, I completely agree

(41:18):
with you. I think, if if anything, the only reason
why they had patrols of two is because they didn't
have the manpower to a lot more than that per control.
And that's I mean, that's literally just logistics at that point,
you know, not that they want to roll the dice,
but if three is not as strong as four or five,

(41:42):
and it's not, might as well just go with two,
with the potential of our greatest loss would be two
instead of four or five.

Speaker 1 (41:50):
Yeah, as they say, two is one and one is none.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
Yeah, and that absolutely applies here. But Chris makes a
great point with Dios ex machina. It's a story driven logistic.
It had to happen that way. So Elli and Dina
had their time, so Joel and Tommy had their unfortunate
meeting m hm, and you know, and so on and

(42:17):
so forth.

Speaker 1 (42:17):
Yeah, I'm just wondering about that Eli and Dina thing.
Maybe that's where Sarah works. You know.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Then you never know, you just never know.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
Amazing, Yeah, thank you so much. You know, in the
you know, desperate times, desperate measures and whatnot, that's all
that's all I'll say, sure, you know, And then sometimes
it's just more exciting. Sometimes it's just more thrilling. Yes,
they're just doing some video game ass ship. That's what
it is like, and only one of us comes back alive.

Speaker 2 (42:50):
Yeah, and it has to work. That's how it has
to go, because that's what what did my dad used
to say when I was a kid. All the time
we would watch movies or this, that or the other,
and if they had stupid decisions, and he would be
all f or my mom would get all frustrated. Sure,
and she was like, that's fucking stupid, and my dad
would just be like, it's in the script, right, you gotta.

Speaker 1 (43:11):
Do what's on the page. What are we going to do? Yeah,
so if we make one change this early, it fucks
up everything that comes after this.

Speaker 2 (43:19):
You know, It's It's true, one thousand percent, the whole
entire game would be a completely different game.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
That's my favorite part. Is like a lot of the
you know, it's the thing that happens in movies now
and television shows and potentially even video games, is like,
our modern conveniences are the solve to a lot of problems,
and so ninety percent of the time it's like, how
do we remove cell phones from the equation? You know,

(43:46):
Now we're out here and there's no signal. Okay, now
we've removed cell phones, you know yeah, otherwise this thing
resolves itself. I called nine one one. We're saved, you
know yeah. I called the Fox Show nine one one
when seven major disasters are happening at once. Jesus, all right,

(44:07):
we got another one from Chris. We can we can
push it right to the limit.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
I think we got we got this.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
We can do we can do this other Chris one.
Here we go, Hello, Telu lovers. I was thinking this
morning about how good the opening to Tilou two is,
specifically the abby part. I'm just going to give ten
full seconds of silence here. That was her, Jackie, and

(44:42):
then Chris goes on to say, in parentheses, I know
there is contention about her coming from the sour front.
I totally get it.

Speaker 2 (44:51):
Wow, he used my last name.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
It's true. It's true he called you out.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
He really did.

Speaker 1 (44:58):
But taken just as a horror slash survival game opening,
that scene is awesome. The way you're led into things
with the wintery isolation, seeing the frozen corpse half buried
under the snow, then squirming through those rocks to encounter
the dead Asian woman. Very creepy. I guess I should
have expected something to grab me, but I didn't. In

(45:20):
no time flat, you're being pursued by many runners. I
don't know. I was just thinking about how that part
hasn't really been talked about much, and it's pretty great.
Keep up the great work. Best regards, Chris, Chris. We Chris, Chris,
do you understand what you've done? Chris?

Speaker 2 (45:41):
Everything is fine, Everything is fine. It's okay.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
That's what she says when things aren't fine. Chris, Okay,
don't listen to her, listen to me.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
We It's definitely and an opening that we are going
to talk about when we talk about part two. Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1 (46:02):
Among all of the openings I've seen, it is one
of them. That's basically what you just said.

Speaker 2 (46:10):
I know, and I'm not trying to be dismissive, but
going back to what I said earlier in a comment
uh to an email, I don't want to dive too
deeply into part two stuff because we are right on
the like on the cosp of starting that.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
Here's here's what I'll say that is related, but not
so this opening. It's very possible to me that Resident
Evil was the inspiration for a lot of Survival Horror
that came after it, including the Last of Us, right,
and we've had we had many Resident Evil games up

(46:45):
to the Last of Us I think five, potentially six.
I think then there was a very long hiatus without
Resident Evil because they had gotten a little too big
for their breeches, and then very recently we've gotten a
series of wonderful new ones and remakes. The opening to

(47:05):
Resident Evil three remake is very similar to the opening
of this game, and so I think that's a really
cool relation that has been made, like a I don't
want to say, like a snake eating its own tail,
but like Resident Evil inspired the Last of Us and
the Last of Us inspired Resident Evil. So sure, without

(47:29):
getting into too much of the plot details of Resident
Evil three, it just opens in a very tense, scary,
claustrophobic thing and you're being pursued and it's awesome like
same vibes. So, Chris, if you haven't played Resident Evil
three remake, highly recommend.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
That there you go, There you go. So there we go,
There you go.

Speaker 1 (47:56):
Hey, Chris, trust.

Speaker 2 (47:57):
Me, we we do not have time to do the
last two emails because we have to do an autro
for our coffee so son, bit, it's okay, it's okay,
it's and I don't want to blow through. I don't
like doing that because again, people take time, oh yeah

(48:19):
to send us these emails, and I want to take
time to properly reply to them.

Speaker 1 (48:23):
Realistically, it looks like one of these, one of these,
I'm going to have to work on an accent to
be able to read it, so you can look forward
to that.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
I'm so excited.

Speaker 1 (48:32):
I will not be doing that. I don't trust myself
to stay in that accent, but stay tuned for what
that accent might be.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
Oh yeah, well we'll probably both have a go at it.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
What you just divulged it.

Speaker 2 (48:51):
That was terrible, baby, I don't know, no, it was terrible.
I uh yeah. So that's that's our email show for the.

Speaker 1 (49:03):
Roll it back, roll it back, maybe here, roll it back.

Speaker 2 (49:07):
No, and maybe I'll bleep that part out as like
a joke.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
That's be really funny. That'd be really funny.

Speaker 2 (49:13):
I'll just keep in like one word and people will
be like the fuck. So yeah, just gay. So yeah,
that's I think we covered a lot of ground. We
have two emails left from twenty twenty two. Yeah, two
and then we are in twenty twenty three, and we
did not get a lot in twenty twenty four until
the last couple of months, so we are we're doing good. Okay,

(49:35):
we're doing We're doing good.

Speaker 1 (49:37):
Would you say we're moving right along?

Speaker 2 (49:38):
We're moving right along. Okay, one hundred. So thank you
guys for hanging out with us this week. And here's
some social media details if you please. We're over on
Blue Sky. Haven't done much with it yet, but if
you would like to follow us, that's Telu podcast over

this is what we're gonna do. If you know, you
know series where I go back to every single episode
and I pull the most random shit and then end
it with a listen to our episode to find out
what the fuck I'm talking about? And you know, just
a little baby. It's a little baity. It's not a

(50:21):
lot baby, but it's a little baby. So I'm looking
forward to that. And also we received our theme born
Escape from the Dark Kickstarter game. Yeah, that finally arrived
after almost two fucking years. We ordered it. No, yes,
it came on November twenty ninth. It arrived the day

(50:45):
after Thanksgiving, and I ordered it on December first of
twenty twenty two. Wow, so it was it was almost
two years to the day and ken I literally opened
up the box. I saw the tube said last of ours,
and I was like, this is our video, this is
our board game. We're doing a whole fucking unboxing video
that's going to be over on our YouTube. So just

(51:06):
go to YouTube and look for telu podcast.

Speaker 1 (51:09):
Yeah, talking about that in the discord too, so yes, yes,

haven't played it yet, but quality quality quite good.
