Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello everybody. Oh, we just had a chaotic end to
the pre show of recording. I basically choked on my
own spit, so Andrew.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Is forgot how to live for a minute, and all
of the complete malfunction of the body.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Sometimes they turn on you, that's all, okay, But before
we get to bodies turning on us. Hello, Hi everyone,
I'm Jack and as always I'm joined with Andrew. Hey,
and this is wayfair and strangers. The bonus episodes of
email Z continues forever for infinity.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Now we're in twenty twenty four. As of this show,
like as.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
Of this recording, emails all the way down.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
So I'm sorry, turtles all the way down, and I'm excited. Also,
we heard back from Judy Judy h from our email
last week, petitioning potentially having them on the show, which
Judy singing is uproar. I was gonna say sounds and seams,
(01:41):
and it just my brain went, so, Judy now is game,
is game to do an episode with us? So maybe
potentially in the future that will happen. And in the
very short future we will read that response, so less
I should just read it right now? Should I just
read it right now.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
That's short enough, you know, why not?
Speaker 1 (02:00):
It just this is kind of how it's gonna go though,
Like once we catch up, we are caught up and
that's it. That's how it will go. So yes, it's uh,
it's pretty quick. I can tell I can tackle that.
But I'll do that in a few minutes. Oh, we
were talking about bodies turning on us. Yeah, it happens. Yeah,
(02:22):
but I mean sometimes like you will just be in
your own world, reading a book, maybe on the couch
or I don't know, cooking dinner, and you just choke
on your own spit like it hasn't been a part
of you forever. I don't understand why that happens. Yeah,
I don't know. And also you and I were talking
about that, the inclination to like, I don't know, if
(02:43):
you're standing upon the cliffs of the Grand Canyon having
that thought in your head jump jump jump jump do it?
Do it?
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Do it? Do it?
Speaker 1 (02:52):
And I finally googled that and I was like, what
the fuck? Why do we have thoughts like that? Because
it's not it's not wanting to alive yourself. It has
nothing to do with that kind of ideation. M it's
this primal, instinctual back fire of your lizard brain. Instead
(03:13):
of telling you back the fuck up you're in danger,
it basically misjudges the situation and it's like, oh no,
it's totally safe. Jump do it. You definitely want to
fucking jump jump. And it's like, oh, that's crazy that.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
You can make it. Yeah, where where can I make.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
It to the other side? But yeah, anyway, bodies cool.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
It's like that scene in the Matrix where he has
to clear the buildings. Remember, no, he has to jump
from one building to the other.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, it's like that. Yeah, And that's
that's the Matrix.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
It's the second Matrix. I've referenced to the Matrix in
our pre show. Also, now I just now, I'm just
thinking about Keanu Reeves.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
It's true. I mean you think you're always kind of
thinking about Keanu Reeves, and.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
No, you're not wrong.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
So all right, let's just jump into Judy's response from
last week's episode. Judy wrote in on January nineteenth of
twenty twenty five, and the email says, hello again, Jackie
and Andrew. Hopefully my email will make its way to
you this time. I remember because I said that I
had no recollection of her email. Excuse me, I had
(04:25):
no recollection of the email that Judy had sent. It
was only through our website that it got to us,
which pisses me off. But anyway, not a Judy problem.
It's a Gmail problem again. But I just wanted to
first say, it's insane that not only did you guys
read my email, but you dedicated an entire episode to it.
I was randomly sitting on my couch wondering if you
(04:45):
guys had gotten my email when I saw that you
had posted an episode focused on one email, and I
got intrigued. Lo and behold it's my email, and I begone.
I began to lose my mind. Anyway, just since you
guys were wondering at the end of the episode, I'm
eighteen now and have just gotten into my dream college
and will be studying film production next fall semester in
(05:08):
the great City of Philly. Again, go Phillies and especially
Eagles Andrew, you're not allowed to skip over at this time. Phil, Yeah,
it is. It's all love and uh yeah, So continuing,
I also just received my Eagle Scout Award.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
What damn never made it that far I was in
the scouts, never quite made it that far.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
No doubt.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
Awesome go Judy. Hell yeah, since you guys had thrown
it in there. Yes, I would be down to give
more information on my perspective of The Last of Us
when I was younger, Whether that's an interview or more emails,
I'm down to clown. I vividly remember my first play,
so I still remember my thought process and my actual
anger at Joel at the end of the first game.
(05:56):
I one think you that you should let your daughter
give the game a show. In my experience, it was
really good. It was a really good game for a
beginner on easy mode and has shaped me into who
I am today. If you guys have any questions, let
me know otherwise I will be patiently waiting for my
response to this email within the next two years. Yes,
(06:17):
well surprised, Judy.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
By the time you are able to drink, we will
respond to your email guaranteed.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
So that this email isn't just a fun little catchup sesshon,
here's a less heavy conversation topic. If you could commission
Naughty Dog to create a DLC or full game set
in the same world as the Last of Us where
would you have it take place, what country slash climate, why?
And what type of story would you want it to be.
(06:48):
It cannot involve Joel, Ellie, Abby, lev etc. Although it
could involve a character from one of the side story notes.
It doesn't have to Thank you guys so much and
hope you have a good one. Five Judy h So yeah, first,
congratulations on getting into your dream college in Philly. So excited,
so damn exciting, and I hope you have the best time.
Speaker 2 (07:12):
If it's for a film program, I can think of
four schools in Philly off the top of my head
that have remarkable film programs.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Well, don't name them, no, no, no, I'm.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Just saying four and any you'd be lucky to have
the experience from any four of them, is what I'll say.
Many friends of mine have also got gone through those
schools programs and you know, are actively working in the field.
So it's fantastic.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Congrats, Yeah, congrats, congrats. And so we want our daughter
to play the game, it's more about just like shoving
her into the chair in front of a screen with
the controller to get her to play it.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
She doesn't want to stop doing this homework and start
playing this game, goddamn it.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, it's not that she doesn't want to or dislikes
the Last of Us. She very much enjoyed the show.
So I have played part of I believe part two
with her or the whole I can't remember. I think
her and I did a full play through of part one,
but years ago, so I'm sure she doesn't remember that.
And again she has. You know, she's going to be
(08:16):
sixteen in March, so now is the time. So we'll see.
We will update everyone as to how that progresses. And
so getting to this less heavy conversation topic revolving around
commissioning Naughty Dog to create a DLC set in the
same world as the Last of Us, but not utilizing
(08:38):
the core characters.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
It's easy, go ahead. I want desert and I want
it to be post infection, but pre when we meet Joel,
so you're playing as like a soldier, and I want
it to be like World War Z. Just you know,
(09:03):
remember that Horde of clicker or not that Horde of
Runners from the second game. Oh yeah, I want that
all the time. I just want to be you know,
basically what I want is days gone.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, I'm like, I feel like this game was made already.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, Day's Gone. It's similar people shit on Days Gone.
I found that game to be rather fun if you're
in the right mood for it going in and knowing
that it is not The Last of Us. It's a
pretty fun game. I would also take on whatever Factions
was going to.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Be, Oh, based in San Francisco, I think, right, Yeah,
I mean I don't it doesn't have to.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Here's the deal. I don't particularly care where the base
where the game is based. Doesn't affect me too much.
But if that game was what many people were describing
it as, which was The Division but in the Last
of Us, that is a hugely that that that game
(09:59):
loop for me is a real problem because I get
sucked into the Division games. Yeah, and I go all
the way up to but not including the raids of
those games. Sure, but man, I have a really really
good time running in the Division. So yeah, that would
be those those two would be my ideal. Something Days
Gone ish in the desert, and then something like the
(10:22):
Division could be anywhere.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Why don't we set it in Philadelphia? Just you know?
Why not?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Yeah, I mean, I'm not opposed to that whatsoever. I
think the fact that we saw Boston and Pittsburgh some bullshit. Yeah,
I mean it. I'm just saying, like we've done the
city thing in the Last of Us, you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
So that's why I gave the two options.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
The desert's pretty wide open, you know, it'd be nice
to have something that looks like Arizona. It's my frame
of reference, you know. Or Vegas. Maybe Vegas would be fun.
Vegas is always fun in a video game.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Oh yeah, just like completely fucking torn asunder.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Yeah, I'm thinking about Dead Rising specifically, any of the
Dead Rising games. They several of them take place in
a casino in Vegas and you're just fighting hordes of zombies.
It's really really fun because of the bright colors versus the.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Gore.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
It's a nice juxtaposition.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
Okay, me, I got a world without Joel.
Speaker 2 (11:19):
No, I don't want You don't want to imagine a
world without Joel, I understand.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
No, Okay, I'm just obviously.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
He's in the world, you just don't play as him.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I would find him then.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Okay, so the whole game is.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
Getting to the beginning of the Last of Us.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
It's someone from Boston who's like, I love him, and
they watch him escape and you're just always three miles
behind Jewel And oh, got.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
It, that's that sounds fun actually, but.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
No stalkers colon the US story. But it's not about
big monster stalkers. It's about this person who is stalking Jewel.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
Oh shit, no, that's funny.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
No.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
In in reality, it's hard for me to imagine a
different setting because they they they covered the city setting,
they covered the small town setting in a you know,
in a snowy mountainous range, which sure that is everything
to me. Any book that I ever write will take
(12:32):
place in that kind of environment because it is my
absolute favorite. So for me to just negate that and
be like, all right, let's play in the desert or
the rainforests. Like if you're first of all, if you're
playing in a rainforest, you're not seeing a lot of
the signs or symptoms of an apocalypse, apart from maybe
(12:52):
mutated animals and species and a whole other fucking swath
of viruses to deal with. But if and if, and
kind of in the same vein of if you're in
the desert, there's so few structures to come across, or
you know, would it be some sort of like bunker
in the middle of the desert, in the entire game
(13:14):
takes place in there, who knows, But I I think
limiting your options to very desolate places limits the scope
of what a Last of Us game could be, sure,
but it also makes it that much harder to write
a narration to fit that, and that intrigues me. So
(13:37):
it almost like testing a group of writers to be like, Okay,
you have like fucking one square mile worth of space
to work with to tell a twenty hour story. What
are you going to do with it that?
Speaker 3 (13:52):
What do you do? Hot shot? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (13:53):
Oh god. The Keanu Reeves love.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Continues, pop quiz, hot.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Shot, pop Qui's asshole. By the way, Erica broke, We're
watching Speed this past weekend and she sent me a
quick video of the kidies on the couch and I
heard it in the background. It was literally that moment,
pop Qui's asshole. And I was like, and she was
like damn, and I'm like, come on, everybody knows. It
was like, also, I live with the Keanu Reeves expert anyway,
(14:21):
thank you. Yeah. I think from a challenging standpoint, like
as a writer, I would love something like that, but.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
I mean, maybe I would just go farther north. I
would go farther north into Canada.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Saskatchewan. Yeah, the last of us colon Saskatchewan.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Why you saying it like that?
Speaker 3 (14:46):
I don't know, Sisketchwo. Some words are fun, they are fun.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Yeah, Like I don't know. Obviously I know more of
East Coast Canada, just because of Barber and where she
lives and stuff like that. But once upon a time,
you and I had almost planned a trip to Banff,
which is still a place that I would like, let's go,
let's fucking go, and one of the most beautiful looking
(15:13):
places on Earth. So taking something like that and then
like putting it into apocalyptic zone and having a settlement
there again, it would feel so much like Jackson. But
I don't hate that, sure, I don't hate that as
like some sort of means of escape or what if
(15:33):
the entire apocalyptic provenance originated from a place like that,
because people would not expect it to I don't know.
It's a good question, do Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Look, I tend to you know, for better or worse,
I tend to enjoy. I suggested my things because those
were the first things that popp to mind. But realistically,
anywhere that a Fallout is set would be equally good
for a Last of game, right, or here's another here's
another one. Anywhere that you encounter quote unquote in Horizon
(16:10):
in the Horizon games would also be great because what
we really like to see, for one reason or another
are the ruins of a once great civilization. And so, yeah,
Vegas works, Boston works, DC works. Anytime I go to DC,
I think a Fallout three, Like, that's the only thing
I could think of for you know, for better or worse,
(16:32):
I guess. So that's yeah. I do like the idea
of niching down to see what kind of an interesting
story you could tell. But also it would be fantastic,
you know, if you were in London, that would also
be very cool to see.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
To go internationally, yeah, or.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
Paris or any major city, right, you know, Madrid, you know.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Even something like Siberia.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Oh god, sure, what a nightmare. Yeah, everybody in the
Gulag has turned you know.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Oh yeah, that's a good question. Good, good question. I
like that. I also like the stalker colon The Last
of Us.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Right, not about stalkers. They do not come into the play.
It is about a person wholly obsessed with Joel.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Oh it makes me happy. I can envision it. Yeah,
you goddamn right Joel.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
During winter, Ellie's going out to hunt for food and
Stalker comes in and just caresses his face gently.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Gonna be okay, I promise the gentle kiss on the forehead. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
So the game, when you're in there and it's like
press X to caress Joel's beard, and you do that
like once or twice, and then you hear the like
the garage door. You hear like hoofs, and you're like
Ellie's back, and then it becomes like you gotta creep
around and do listen mode and knock it up by
Ellie or she shoots you with the bow and arrow.
(18:14):
She's just like you're so, She's like, who the fuck
is this person?
Speaker 3 (18:21):
Why is Joel's hair combed? What is happening?
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Oh my god? Oh that's ship.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (18:35):
Yeah, there's the game, Naughty Dog, there's the cowards make
that game.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Oh shit, I keep snorting.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
All right, all right, I think we did great. Have
a great show, have a great show. I'm gonna leave now.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
No, you have to take you have to take Zombie
Tom's email from January second.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Tomby Ty Let's see, thanks Judy, we had a great
thought exper Yes.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Thank you, and we'll reach out to you personally privately
about a potential interview.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
All right, here we go, Here we go. Oh wow,
zombie Tom wrote in one year and twenty days ago, jesu, hi,
Jack and Andrew. I'm fresh off the new year and
back to my first official day of work and found
myself thinking of my favorite podcast Duo.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Oh I know, thank you.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Actually, the Last of Us has really been on my
mind as of late, due in part to the umpteenth
playthrough I've just completed. What made it extra special was
that this time around it was with my coveted copy
of the PS five remaster. Good Guys, Guys, or as
the kids say nowadays, bruh bruh. From the subtle nuances
of facial animations on Ellie's snarky face to the twenty
(19:53):
years later grizzle of Joel's fifty six year aged beard,
I am absolutely floored. I am so so grateful for
the exhaustive time and effort that Naughty Dog has poured
into this established masterpiece. What more is there to say?
I had also really struggled with my feelings on the
HBO adaptation. While the series as a whole was quite
(20:13):
enjoyable and clearly crafted with such care and love, I
felt there were quite a few missed opportunities for me.
For me period, there were a few episodes and the
creative choices made in them that affected the pacing and
development of the story.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Despite this, though, and maybe because being so far removed
from the initial airing of the series, I found that
I enjoyed it so much more. Absence makes the heart
grow fonder and all that you love to see it,
as Andrew is fond of saying, and I realized that
this is true, and that it's been hem a hot
minute since te lures were gifted with wayfair and strangers,
(20:51):
witty banter and joyous sidebar discussions hours long, of course.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Lol.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
How dare you, Zombie Tomp? Regarding the minutia of Joel
Ellie's cross country trek, they were still at the university
on episode twenty three, if I remember correctly, you.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Guys are right there. Yep.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Well we finished.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
We did it. We did it, Yeah, we did. Zombie
Tom concludes. I've since watched the silo series and can
easily say it's damn good TV and post apocalyptic material too.
But there's a special place that's reserved for a parallel
timeline world that is also teeming with desperation and survival,
but couldn't escape the clutches of a certain fungal pandemic. Oh,
(21:32):
always be holidays and happy New Year. Of course, I
am crossing my fingers for more to come. Zombie Tom,
your wish is a command.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Yes, I love that email. Thank you so much for that,
Zombie Tom. Zombie tomby Sorry I had to just once. Yeah,
but oh god, First of all, the Silo series. If
people have not watched it yet, what are you doing?
Please well, listen to this podcast first and then go
watch the show.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
I would say, stop listening right now, go watch Silo,
all of it, and then come back.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Well, all of it that is out thus far. There
are two full seasons at your leisure. And yes it is.
It's I'm not gonna say anything about it. It's an
apocalyptic show. It is very unique in its concept, I feel.
I absolutely. I've read the series and I just rebought so.
(22:28):
I bought the special edition of book one that came out.
The special edition of Book two comes out in September
this year, like, let's fucking go, And I just bought
the audio books because I want to reread them every
fucking year. It is such a special story and so
oh my god, the characters. I'm just so in love
with the characters. That's really what it is. It's funny
because Andrew showed me this thing the other day yesterday,
(22:49):
not the other day, about writing horror movies and how
to do them well. And it starts with make sure
your characters are interesting and likable and that people can
relate to them. And while I would not say Silo
is a horror story, it has elements that are worrisome
and scary sometimes, sure, but the characters are so fucking
(23:12):
strong that it's like everything else. Even if it was
slightly weaker, which is not, it would be fantastic. So yeah, anyway,
you're welcome Apple TV for promoting another fucking drill.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
Yeah, this episode's brought to you by Apple TV. Plus.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Yeah. So it's my favorite game in all ways and
it always will be. I'm actually I've been playing it.
I mentioned the last couple of weeks. I know, definitely
last week that I'm back into virtual photography, and now
I'm back into posting those images and it's just I
love it, Like I'm so happy that I'm fulfilled again
(23:47):
by that. And even though it was a very long break,
it was so worth it. And yeah, there's something there's
something special and smart about taking a step away, I think,
from the things that bring you the most amount of
joy sometimes to just like maybe appreciate it from afar
(24:10):
and then dive back in. I don't go, I don't
know anyway.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
There you go?
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Might I also recommend the Fallout television show. Yeah, another
video game piece, that.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Perfect show you might enjoy, really really perfect show.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Completely different approach than the last of us took as well.
So it's not like I played Fallout three. I know
what the story is.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
It is.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Good luck, you'll never figure this out.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Yeah, Yeah, you've.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Never met any of these people before. Good luck.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Yeah. And there was an update today. I was talking
to you about to fall Out seventy six, so I
might pop on over there and see what's going on. Boy,
there's so few hours in the day.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Many games, too many games to play.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
So all right, moving forward from Stephen J. On February
twenty fifth of twenty twenty four, Steven says, when will
you resume your deep dive podcasts into the games? I
really miss them and hope everything as well for you.
Thanks trust me, and yeah, Steve.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
And moving on to the next email.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
No, Steve, I very much appreciate you writing in. And
we've talked about this before and how I feel like
I used to feel very pressured by emails like that,
but I don't anymore now. I see them as people
genuinely checking.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
In and I want to hang out guys.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Yeah, and I appreciate that so damn much. Also, Zombie Tom,
we skipped your January twenty fourth, twenty twenty four email
because you talk a lot about the list of us too,
so we have put that in the Part two pile.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
We'll swing back around the Yeah, we.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Will swing back around, and anyone listening, if you've written in,
if your email contains primarily discussion topics for part two,
if you feel or hear us skip them or see
like we skip them, we're not. We will circle back around.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
They have been duly filed, Yes.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Yes they have, So I'm gonna take the little one next.
From Philip n March twenty third, twenty twenty four super
fan here Binge listening to your podcast over and over
here in New Zealand, in old, little old New Zealand
and Philip. We chat quite regularly over on social media,
particularly Instagram, because that's where I'm most successible. And I'm
(26:31):
sorry about the discord loveliest listening. I love all of you.
I'm just terrible. Philip sends me the cool last of
us stuff. I mean, oh, what was the one thing?
I can't remember what it was, but it was in
New Zealand and I was like, fuck, like, of course,
one of the coolest things I've ever seen is nowhere
(26:52):
near this side of the world.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
But I again, I mean, in fairness, New Zealand is
nowhere near any side of the world.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
That's mean, that's so mean, it's just the meaning thing.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Let's look, let's call the Spain of Spade.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
New Zealand is far away from everything except Australia, which is.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Also very far away from everything.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Not wrong, but we've talked about this before. If we
not if because there's too many people that I love
that live in Australia. When we get the opportunity to
travel to I call that super abroad. There's a broad
and then they's super abroad. Abroad is like you know,
(27:35):
the UK, that's like a six hour flight. You know
what else is a six hour flight from where we
live in the United States, California. So that's basically just crossing.
It's it's just a pond, but Australia, New Zealand, Asia
like that.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Those are the flights that serve you multiple meals. Yes, yes,
you know that's a real that's a real flight.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
You gotta get up and walk.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Around several times like everything.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Just on no, just really planet.
Speaker 1 (28:05):
I can't wait. I can't wait. Andrew turns forty in
nine days, No, eight days, it's the twenty second, and
you're just gonna be like, huh, my bones.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Are immediately fall apart, my facial hair goes full gray,
skin wrinkles up.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
That's what I guess.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
That's what's going to happen in eight days. Yea, I
break I break my hip for some reason.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Don't say that. I mean, you can break your hip
at any age, but the older you get, the more likeliness. Anyway,
just we're gonna take it. We're gonna take care. That's
all anyway. And by the time y'all are listening to
a little be seven days. His birthday is January thirtieth.
Speaker 3 (28:48):
So all right, you know what to do? Everyone?
Speaker 1 (28:53):
What now? What are you expecting now?
Speaker 3 (28:55):
I don't know. I don't know, Paraine, I don't know
what the.
Speaker 1 (28:59):
Just a parade, only a parade.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I will take several. Then it's fine, Okay, I just want.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
To But if you're insisting on multiple parades across the
country and indeed the world, then.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Then let's we have listeners in New Zealand. Let's go.
We do.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
We do have listeners, wonderful listeners in New Zealand. And
thank you Philip for that email.
Speaker 2 (29:20):
The only one I care about is Philip is Philip Roden.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
I care about all of you.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
Okay, when you write in that's wrogged in my memory bank.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
That's cute. All right.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Do you want to take the next email? I believe
from Angus Angus?
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Yes, okay, here it is Angus b rights Hi.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
Hi, that's it. That's all.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I want to start this by saying, I'm so glad
that you guys are back. I have eagerly awaited your return.
To be honest, I don't remember how long ago I
started listening to the podcast and I also believe that
I stumbled across the show by accident. I am glad
I did. I am not a fan of true crime stuff,
but I love deep and in depth analysis of the media.
I love. It was by complete accident that I even
(30:12):
found out about telu.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
I remember finishing a video and the next one that
came up was about Part two being delayed. After that,
I looked into it and realized that the game was
right up my alley, and ever since getting it and
playing it, it has been my all time favorite game. Wow,
what are the odds? I, however, don't know what to
say about the show. I am by no means saying
(30:34):
this in a bad way, quite the opposite. It's just
a lot of things that I feel about it are
things that have been said so many times before. I
guess I will just be saying them again. I love
the dynamic of you and Andrew. I love the jokes,
the longer episodes, how Dare You? The soundboard, the in
depth analysis, and the fact that it never fails to
give me a good laugh. Oh there's more that have
(30:56):
slipped my mind. Something else. If I do listen to
the podcast, I usually listen one time through but believe me,
this is my third time listening to the whole podcast.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
What what?
Speaker 2 (31:11):
I am so glad I found this podcast. I could
safely say that The Last of Us is my favorite
game and this is my all time favorite podcast. Keep
up the great work, and I cannot wait to see
what is to come in the future of the show.
That's her, Angus, Angus, this is for you.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
I don't know why, but that that email got me
choked up.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Look, Angus is Angus is a real one. I didn't
do I wouldn't be able to. I mean, we could
easily do the math of how many hours it is
to listen to the whole thing three times through?
Speaker 3 (31:45):
What what.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
I That's just I mean, I don't even have it dedication. Yeah,
I don't even know if I have words, because it's
so much information every fucking week when we were consistent,
and now that we are consistent again, it's and I know,
you know, we break it up. Yeah, well, I.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Mean, and knows us better than we know ourselves.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
Yeah, at this point, how could he not?
Speaker 2 (32:13):
I just.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
That's so the highest of compliments. It really is the
highest of compliments to hear I've binged your show or
I've binged your show and now I'm listening to it
for a third time, or like, does anything compare to
that legitimately as a content creator? I don't think so.
I genuinely don't thought like, And I'm sure there are
(32:35):
influencers influencers out there who are like, you know, it
compares to that the million dollars in my bank account? Well,
good for fucking you. I don't care, Like, would that
be nice? Yes, but hearing that it means something will
always win out, and I think if you lose that,
(32:57):
what does it matter? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, So, Angus, thank you so much. I hope you're
doing well. We you know, there is another email from
Angus from November of twenty twenty four, but I think
we'll circle back to that because we have one from May.
So unless you do you just want to stay per
person or do you want to do.
Speaker 2 (33:16):
Dates, I'm happy to just go straight top to bottom.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Yeah, let's straight top to bomb.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
These are all in the past anyway, So.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah, all right, I'll take the next one from Angus
b in November twenty second, twenty twenty four, only literally
two months ago today, just we're all.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Most caught up kind of until we jump back nine months.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
But that's okay.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Hello guys, fellow Pennsylvanian here. I wanted to get this email.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Yeah, Angus is Pennsylvania. There you go. That's what I'd
say to that.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
I wanted to get this email before the new year
starting off. I don't remember how long ago I started
listening to the podcast at this point. It was by
complete accident that I found the podcast, as well as
an accident that I found out about the Last of Us.
To begin with, how it happened was I was watching
a video about Tell Teal's The Walking Dead, and a
video by that a YouTuber came on and it was
about how the Last of Us two was delayed again.
(34:11):
And sidebar from the email if people are like this
sound similar to Angus's prior email in fucking March of
twenty twenty four, It is similar, but it is different,
which is why we're still going to read the whole thing. Yeah,
but I remember it vividly. I looked into the first
game and watched some gameplay. I was hooked. I had
(34:31):
the remaster order, the remastered order, that's tough to say.
I had the remastered ordered, I keep adding an eed,
I had the remaster ordered and could not wait until
it would get here. I loved it, and it is
to this day my favorite game of all time.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Yes, yeah, it is.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
Anyway back to the point, I love the podcast, and
I loved it so much that I would listen to
it from the start while I was waiting for the
podcast to come back. I'm sorry to hear that things
have not always been good for y'all, but I can't
help but point out that the podcast would always pop
back up when I needed it the most. I started
a job maybe twoish months ago and it was rough
(35:13):
in the beginning, but you guys and the show kept
me going. I guess you could say that I found
something to fight for to get me through the darkness,
and for that, I want to thank you guys from
the bottom of my heart. It was sad, but also
happy and bittersweet for the end of the deep Dive
into the Last of Us Part one. I look forward
to hearing your opinions on the second game, and I
(35:34):
have a feeling that we will have similar opinions of
Part two, as I don't like it, however, thes the
graphics gameplay and soundtrack are amazing, but the story has
a lot of problems and that is very important in
a game like The Last of Us Too. I will
leave it at that, or else this will be a
lot longer. I hope y'all stick around a while longer,
(35:56):
but either way, I will be here waiting for the
next episode. Sincerely, Angus b A. Yeah, so, Angus, thank
you so much again for writing in. And I hope
we didn't panic you into thinking that we were never
going to read your previous email, and if we did that,
I'm sorry about that. But yeah, you know, referencing things
(36:18):
weren't things were not easy last year, and you know
what life is sometimes that way. Sometimes it's really fucking hard,
and sometimes it's it's not. And being back creating the
podcast with Andrew having a chance to sit down every
week and dedicate an hour, hour and a half whatever
it ends up being, it is without a doubt a
(36:40):
highlight to every one of to every.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Week like undown an hour and a half for now.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yeah, for now, they will absolutely increase Jesus, there we go.
But just thank you for thank you for sticking around,
thank you for being here even when we were not
able to be here, and also I love that you're
from Pennsylvania, so go birds.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Well, well it actually depends on what part of the state,
doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
But okay, fair enough, Yeah, that's just me being the
Philadelphian of Pennsylvania.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
I regret shout out a shout out to telltales The
Walking Dead, a game that Jackie never played.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
No, I never will.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
That is some bullshit, because it's a great game.
Speaker 1 (37:32):
I know, and I've been told it many times. I
have zero I have less than zero interest in The
Walking Dead. Why it's not for me?
Speaker 3 (37:40):
It's unbelievable. I don't believe it. Unbelievable. I don't believe it. Okay, interesting,
It's like.
Speaker 2 (37:47):
A found family story about a man and a young
girl set in a post apocalypse where there are creatures
whose bite will infect and kill you. I wonder what that.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Sounds like exactly. I don't need any more of that.
I have my favorite version of that.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
You know, it's almost like there are only seven archetypes
for stories.
Speaker 1 (38:12):
Facts.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Fair enough, Yeah, fair enough, squid, you're closing us out.
Let's go May twelve. It's gonna be May as they say, yes,
hey to you, lovely wayfair and folks, my name is Squid.
Not really, but that's what I go by. That's incredible,
(38:37):
and I have really loved listening to your podcast over
the months past few months. I'm a little bit of
a newbie to your show, but definitely not to tilu.
I'm twenty now and have been obsessed since I started
watching Let's plays at fourteen. I eventually played the games
myself years later. I started with the original, the Last
of Us remaster on PS four, then Part one on
(38:58):
Steam Deck, and now on my second play through of
Part two on PS four. Since the month started, I'm
on my designated collectible run. Now I have to get
all the trinkets.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
It's a vibe, we get it.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
Anyway. I'm a newer content creator literally as of yesterday.
Congratulations on that, Squid, Yeah for real. And I just
started a TikTok account where I'm planning to discuss everything
about the Last of Us and connect more with other
folks in the fandom, especially now that there's so much
more hype about it. Man, it makes me happy, but
I also feel so much passion and ownership of the
(39:35):
game that I'm like protective of it.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
I think that's why I was so nervous to claim
my spot in the fandom for so long. I'm sure
you get what that's like. I'm not caught up to
all of your episodes yet. I'm currently on episode fourteen,
but have listened to all the bonus content. It's a
bit out of context, but seriously, you have no idea
how much listening to your podcast has saved me getting
(39:58):
through and finishing this past college semester. My painting professor
was awful, and like Ellie said, it's hard when they're dicks, it's.
Speaker 1 (40:10):
Hard when they're dicks.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
That was the intention, I know, but you guys definitely
got me through that, so thanks. I love how in
depth your analyses are. Okay, So to my actual point,
I was hoping that I could reference your podcast in
some of my videos while discussing assorted ideas, I'm coming.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Up with, oh, hell, yeah, done.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Yes, I hope you already have and you weren't waiting
for this I explicit permission.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
But that's okay.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
I feel I really like your takes on so many
aspects of the characters and story overall, and I don't
want to bring up specific points or discuss parts of
your podcast without giving you credit. It's definitely a small
account now and only on TikTok until I branch out more,
but I'm hoping it'll gain traction. I'm not sure exactly
what to start with, but I'm definitely wanting to approach
(40:54):
it through my own queer slash lesbian informed perspective and
just my thoughts as a longtime Avid fan. There's a
lot of questions I want to ponder out loud, and
a lot of the things I'm analyzing were a result
of pondering some of what you guys have brought up.
I am inspired by you, so I'm hoping to mention
you guys. Oh my gosh, thanks for your time. I
(41:16):
would love to write in with specific responses to the
podcast as soon as I'm caught up. I think it's
awesome hearing the fan emails and designated response episodes. It
feels real, which I appreciate because all of this, like
you've mentioned, is very close to my heart. If you
were wondering the account name is pretty much the same
as I won't mention what it is, the same as
(41:39):
the account on TikTok is. I'm going to read it
for everybody listening. Sure, very much a threat zero underscore zero.
So it's the kind of the emoji with the wide
eyes zero underscore zero that's on TikTok. And yes, it
is in reference to Ellie's iconic I'm just a girl,
(42:01):
not a threat.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Bye. Thanks for your time, Squid.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
I so hold on, I'm pulling up very much a threat,
So I don't see the account with the eyes like
the zero underscore zero on TikTok. There is a very much,
very much a threat account.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Yeah, is it last of Us dedicated? Oh?
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Yes? And oh the name Squid. I love the last
of Us? All right, I just followed, I just followed.
I followed you back, Squid. I'm so excited to dive
into this. First of all, Oh my fucking god, I'm
so sorry that we did not read this until now,
literally almost a year after the fact, because this was
in May of twenty four. You absolutely, okay, anybody listening,
(42:47):
if you ever ever want to reference our show what
we've talked about, even if you are vehemently disagreeing with us, sure,
I mean, be constructive about it, don't tear us down
to assholes. But like, by all means.
Speaker 3 (43:02):
That's the phrase. Is that afraise tear us down to assholes.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Yeah, well beyond studs assholes. So please feel free to
use the content and talk about it, especially if you're
inspired by what we do, and if we're helping you,
like get through school and shitty dickhead professors like by
all means you do. Thank you so much for asking
(43:30):
for permission. You don't need it. Just take the content,
talk about it, make your own version of things. There's
a space for literally everyone in this fandom, every voice,
if you are dedicated enough, if you are into it enough,
if you are willing to, like unfortunately argue with people
(43:51):
sometimes fucking do it. Just and I'm the smallest content
creator and I still feel that way, and I hope
that if ever any project that I do, or Andrew
and I do, or me and my cousin whatever, if
we ever get to some sort of like recognition level,
I still maintain that, like it's it's important.
Speaker 3 (44:14):
So yeah, anyway, I just did.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
A Google search for painting professor who is a dick
and it came up with Brian Dick. So maybe if
that's him, screw you, Brian.
Speaker 1 (44:26):
Fuck you, Brian shit is jerk.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
We're gonna tear you down the assholes.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
That makes no sense.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Sorry, Brian, if you're listening, I didn't mean it. It's
just as your name is Brian Dick, and you know
that's just what Google came up with when I searched
that phrase. So I take it all back. So stupid.
It's maybe the stupidest thing I've done on the show.
Just called out some random art professor.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Oh my god, I have that like flushed feeling in
my chest from laughing so hard. Wow. Sorry about that,
Brian Dick. Surprise, this is devolving so quickly. So that's
(45:22):
that's gonna That's gonna be our show today. Thank you
everyone who can you know who has written in and
continues to write in. Judy will reach out to you. Squid.
Please feel free to use our content in any way
you seem or you deem fit or necessary or want to.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
It'd be funny if you even took it out of context.
You know, you clip the you know it's like those
three put you adoctor it. Oh it sounds like you know,
if you can make it sound like Jack Loves the
Last of Us Part two.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Dare Okay, I rescind everything that I said.
Speaker 2 (45:56):
Like you could just cut that part of me right
like just around that, and it's just me saying Jack
loves the Last of Us part two.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
Stop it.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
But I just gave it to you right there clean,
so you don't got.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
To do anybody. Stop.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
You're giving people really nefarious ideas and I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (46:12):
We're having a good time, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (46:14):
Let's go who's having a good time anyways?
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Collective?
Speaker 1 (46:18):
Yes, So yeah, that was This was a fun episode.
I hope everyone enjoyed it. And yeah, if you want
to follow us, you can do so on Blue Sky,
at te loop podcast or Instagram, which is where we
usually are. At telu podcasts. If you want to be
featured on an upcoming email show now that we prove
(46:40):
to you we're reading them for real, for real from
the past like two months worth of shows, you can
do that at telupodcast at gmail dot com because it's
just yeah, we're we're in the flow. If you'd like
to be a part of our coffee and gain access
to fifty full episodes, not full like in the three
(47:01):
hours sense, but full in the at least thirty to
forty five minutes since pre show post show, which is
just Andrew and I having a conversation before and after
our shows. We do it every single week along with
some Wayfair and West stuff, some family posts. It's it's
a good time over there and we we we.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
Really like it.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
So if you want to be a part of that,
you can do it at ko dash fi dot com,
slash Telu podcast. The last cast will return in April
of twenty twenty five. It's coming up quick, so I
need to gird my loins for the amount of work
that's coming down the pipeline for me. But as always
(47:42):

(48:05):
Lurk lurker A Lurker h A, treos Light nine.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
Ten and Baby Shadow.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
It was like the longest pause that was like a
Mister ball In length pause.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
I you know, I wanted to sure you know everybody
leans in. They're like, they're like, what's he gonna do?
They they're pulling their phone out, They're like did it?
Speaker 3 (48:28):
Did it break this?
Speaker 1 (48:29):
They get hit with a baby Shadow look at that
baby Shadow got two. Oh my god, you could be
that You could you could be that awesome. That's all
I'm saying, Shadow Rice. Anyway, thanks, thanks so much for
just listening to the show, hanging out with us every
single week. We hope you guys are having a good
(48:49):
week it you know, I don't. We're not going to
talk about politics and stuff. And I did wonder you know,
I was like, should we talk about the California wildfire?
Should we talk talk about the heavier topics every once
in a while. And I had a conversation real quick sidebar.
I had a conversation with my wonderful cousin and Erica,
(49:10):
whom I've now mentioned, I think three times on the show,
and she made a very compelling point of people listen
to our show to escape very dark, very dark things
happening right now. So that's how it's going to stay.
Of course we care, of course we are concerned. Of
course it is terrible. We hope everyone is safe. We
hope everyone is unharmed, and whatever your circumstances are, we
(49:36):
just hope and pray the best for you. So yes, yeah,
that's uh. And that's not just limited to what's going
on in California. It's limited to literally the entire fucking globe.
So take care of yourselves this week. Do what you
have to do, go for some walks, find your piece,
write a whole bunch of whatever you need to in
your journal. Just do what you have to do, and
(49:57):
we'll be back next week in your ear and then
your podcast apps having a good fucking time, because that's
this is the tiny little sandbox where we can do that.
Speaker 4 (50:06):
So bye, goodbye, goodbye, no bye bye bye, see you later.
Oh my god, that's el she is anyway, Bye.
Speaker 3 (51:02):
You made the
