this weekend as far as football victories go, with Marshall,
WVU and Georgia all losing. The Cowboys played to a
tie last night, which should never happen. I'll get in
that a little bit later. Wrong. But the one thing
we do have to celebrate sports wise us Reds fans.

It is not every day on the Big Time Radio
show here we get a visit for one of our sales.
Weasels here in the building, and with good reason. We
(02:41):
don't normally put them on the air because we prefer
to have them out selling to pay my bloated salary.
But today hearing for a treat because out of her
pen in the upstairs office that we call the fund Zone,
it's Bobby Spry.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
How you doing I'm doing well. How are you, Dave?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
I am doing fine. Why are you in my studio?
Speaker 6 (02:59):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (02:59):
Well, I really want to talk about Trigger beat today.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Trick or Beat? Do you want to tell the trigger
story or about there you go right ahead. So last week,
Miss Spry sends me a text and she said, can
I come on the show to talk about Trigger? Well
in the world of sales up there, and I'm surrounded
by all the weasels up there. I presume that Trigger
must be some sort of a new sales tool because
they all had these really cool names, and I thought, oh, okay,
(03:23):
it's some kind of a new sales tool that she
wants to talk about. So I go and I ask
the sales manager Sean, I say, Bobby wanted to come
on to talk about trigger, and then he responds, I
think she meant trick or beats. So how does trigger
then become trigger Beat?
Speaker 5 (03:41):
I think we can all agree that we used talk
to text to save time, and that's what happened. And
of course I didn't proof read because I'm in a
sales weasel and not in your line of work.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
So there we are all right, there you go, So
trick or Beat is coming back to the ballpark, Go
More Ballpark, and it will be when that's correct.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
It's going to be two Tuesday, October the twenty eighth,
and this year marks the nineteenth annual celebration of this event,
all right, And.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
For those and we'll have Woody on to talk about it.
But you're on for like a kind of a different
reason because we are, you know, we trying to get
sponsored for this thing. That's why I've got you on.
And you got some sponsorship we'll talk about. But for
those who aren't aware of what tricker beat is, why
don't you explain the whole concept?
Speaker 7 (04:19):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (04:19):
I'm glad you asked, because in my world, I feel
like everyone knows about tricker Beat, but I have had
several people ask.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Me because it's been going on nineteen years nineteen years exactly.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
And if you're entrenched in the community, you've participated in
tricker be at one point. But it's one of our
favorite community traditions. We bring together more than three thousand
families for a night of Halloween.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Funds three thousand, three thousand, three thousand people, and that's
why we do it in at least.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
We have success. Okay, all right, go ahead, correct, good,
and it's just a fun night of Halloween. We keep
it safe. It's a well lit environment. You don't have
to worry about checking the candy when you get home
with the kids. In today's world, I feel like any
safety that we can provide for our children is greatly appreciated.
(05:05):
But right now, we have about thirteen local businesses who
have already signed on and we're hoping to add about
ten more to that.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Now, do you have a list of some of the
businesses or are we still putting that together right now?
Speaker 5 (05:14):
We are still putting into Okay, all right.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
But about thirteen how many? How many do we need
total to make this thing a success?
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Around twenty twenty one?
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Okay, so we got about eight ten slots available.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
Yes, that's correct. And to me, one of the best
parts is watching business owners and their staff like come out, yeah,
dress up for Halloween, hand out candy.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
So if we're not just at when we do this
over the ballpark, we're not just asking for you to do.
Businesses to write a check, we'll take that, but we
really would encourage the businesses to come and with their
employees and set up and you know it's you've got
a lot of space around the ballpark to do it in,
so they have a lot of fun as well.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
They do. We've had we've had I think it was
White Insurance one year that dressed up their entire family
came and dressed up like Kiss, and then last year
the Capital Market came as the Sanderson Sisters. We just
really encourage that type of participation because the kids love
it and seeing them smile and be happy and know
(06:12):
that they're with their parents, They're in a safe, well
lit environment. We also provide pizza for the kids so
the families don't have to worry about cooking dinner that evening.
It is a great event for your business to be
tied to.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
It is and you get a lot of advertising out
of explain you know, in addition to getting to wear
the costumes and in addition to helping out the community,
what's in it for them otherwise?
Speaker 8 (06:34):
Well.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
They are included in over two hundred of the promos
on our Beat station, one of seven point three the Beat.
They also comes with additional thirty second thirty commercials that
they can use anytime in the month of October. We
have their logo included on our web page and on
our Facebook page and then we provide table space the
night of the event for them to pass out candy,
(06:55):
also pass out any type of material that you literature, brochures,
and we have dnnis who come and bring toothbrushes for
the kids.
Speaker 9 (07:04):
Swag swag.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Yes, and it's a fun filled event. It is.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Indeed, we're talking to Bobby Spry again. It's nine to
fourteen Dave Allen showing five eighty Live Oddly enough, brought
to you in part by your hometown baseball team, The Charles,
the Dirty Birds, the Selango Law Light. The Night's returning
to Go Ballpark November twenty first through January first. Get
your tickets in advance by visiting Dblightthnight dot com. And
when we say that these that they get these commercials
you know, promos is what we call them. But they
can also get I mean their name will be listed
(07:33):
on those on those on the promo that we call it,
you know, it's brought to you by so and so.
But they also get commercials that they can run to
actually sell their stuff at some point, right.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
Yes, yeap thirty second thirty commercials in the month of
October they can use to whether it's highlighting an event
they're having, or just a general services commercial. It's we
want to make it beneficial, a mutually beneficial, a partnership
for all of us.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Now is it like is its specific? Like you know
you're only going to like exclusive? Are you only going
to have one car dealership or one clothing store or
one supermarket or whatever? Do you do any kind of exclusivity?
Speaker 5 (08:10):
Not for this event, we want everyone to come. We
invite politicians, law offices, dental offices.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Okay, you said one of the keywords, they're politicians because
they're going to be this is an off year, but
in twenty twenty six we've already had people. Now we
don't here's what we We don't mind them setting up.
We don't want them giving stump speeches, you know anything correct?
Speaker 5 (08:32):
And honestly, the people I vote for I want to
see them at every community event, not the ones that
benefit them and the numbers in the right.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
So if you're a perspective politician, you're going to be
running for office next year'd be a great opportunity to
get out in front of it. And even if you're
not running, I mean, just an opportunity for you to
get out in front of your constituents and you know,
hand out stuff.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
And see that you're giving back to the community, you're
engaging them, you're meeting them where they are.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
It's a photo Everything to me is a photo op,
you know. But anyway, all right, so talk prices.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
What are we talking about here as far as sponsorship, Yeah,
concern our general sponsorship is nine ninety. Now that gets
you the inclusion in the two hundred promos, the thirty
thirty second commercials, the logo on our website, on our
Facebook page, the table space event. And then also a
(09:22):
portion of those funds go to buy candy that we
distribute for the kids, because a lot of vendors end
up running out of candy that night.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
And so I've seen it happen.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
It happens every time. And so we load these kids
up right at the very beginning.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Of their walk, and I'll say, and again we'll be
talking about a lot more before we get there as
far as the logistics go. But we'll get over there
at you know what time does it start at the
first sessions?
Speaker 5 (09:44):
First sessions at six pm.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
At six pm. We'll get over there about four three
thirty four and start setting up we'll already have people.
There's a line in line, there is, I mean the
line goes all the way down the street. And so
we also could use volunteer, I mean, to come out
and help out. I mean, our staff is great and
this is a promotion of the Beat, but we don't
(10:07):
we don't say what's a beat. We're not going to
do that, you know, I mean, or the Mountain or whatever.
I mean, we're all going to be there from the Mountain,
from KWS, from the Beat, We're all there's all hands
on deck for us salespeople, you know, engineers, whatever. But
if somebody is out there listening and they said I
would just like to volunteer, maybe I'm a one person
business and I don't want to hand out. I just
(10:29):
want we'll find a spot for you.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Yeah, that's right. We do have a lot of need
when it comes when some of these sponsors come in
helping set up the booths, taking them to the location
where they're a sign, and then helping distribute pizza to
the kids at the evening. We really welcome everyone to
come out to this event.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
All right, So again your business right now, this is
a great, great opportunity because not only are the folks
going to see you out there? It's fun. We'll start
with the fun aspect. You get the dress up, you
get down to the businesses have to provide their own candy.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
They do have to provide their own can't they have to.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Provide their own candy? Yes, all right, So you get
an opportunity to dress up to hand out candy to
the kids. Very very visible. Again, three thousand people are
going to see you. Three thousand families are going to
see you. In the two different sessions, you get the
mentions on the promos that run that says brought to
(11:23):
you by I brought to you by. But you also
get commercials to sell. If you're a NOTO dealer, you
also get commercials to sell the latest forward truck or
whatever the case may be, or to the drug store
or whatever the case may be.
Speaker 5 (11:34):
That's right. There are a lot of businesses that I
talk to that don't necessarily need or want to do
any type of advertising, but they love philanthropic advertising.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
You get a lot to.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
Do community events like this, the backpack Attack, the Turkey Drop,
that we do anything that's community centered. This is definitely
one of those events that you want to attach your name.
Speaker 3 (11:56):
To all right, So how do businesses get involved? What
do they need to do?
Speaker 5 (12:00):
They can reach They can call here at caller stations here,
or they can email Sean Meyer at s E A
N dot M E Y E R at WV Radio,
and or you can message me on Facebook and I'll
direct the you to Sean. Whatever's easiest. If you know me,
you know how to reach me.
Speaker 3 (12:18):
Everybody knows Bobby when you.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
Live and work here your life. That tends to be
the case. It's not because I'm special. It's just a
small town.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
It is a small town. All right. We'll have you
on again. And now I'm going to get Woody and
the others on, you know, as we get a little
bit closer. Give me the date and the times again.
Speaker 5 (12:33):
It is October eight, twenty eighth. That's on a Tuesday.
It's going to be at Go Mart Ballpark with the
Dirty Birds. We'll have two sessions, one from six to
seven and then the second beginning at seven point thirty,
and we will have tickets available. Will announce that in
a couple of weeks and they will be picked up
here at.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Our station show. Because that's some very important thing they
have to have tickets and that's just for crowd control purposes.
The tickets are free, okay, but we have to have
some system where they get the tickets and they have
to have and we had an incident. I almost don't
want to mention this because it brings out the jerk
in me when I say this. Last year we had
some bad actors out there trying to sell free tickets.
(13:13):
They went online and we're saying trick or Beat is
because it does sell out.
Speaker 5 (13:19):
It does.
Speaker 3 (13:19):
Tricker Beat has sold out. Trick or Beat has sold out.
I got tickets and they were trying to There are
no tickets for sale. I know what he went on
a rampage about this last year. There are no tickets
for sale, but you do have to have the tickets,
and once we get the tickets in, we'll let you
know when to come and get them. They're free, but
just for crowd control purposes, we have to give you
a ticket.
Speaker 5 (13:38):
Yeah, if you follow the Beat page on Facebook, we'll
announce it there on air and then a lot of
us will be sharing that out to the public.
Speaker 3 (13:46):

Seasons are changing, the kids are back in school and

Walley and Whippie Sports. I just head of the Westernian
Sports Writers Association. How are you, my friend?
Speaker 9 (16:24):
I'm good. Good morning to you.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Good morning do you too? I want to review the
sports weekend. As I mentioned at the top of the show, Jim,
not a good weekend for your boy here. You know, Saturday,
Marshall loses, WVU loses. Marshall loses even though they score
like one hundred points, they still lose. Georgia. You know
my Bulldogs been a fan since I was a kid.
My Bulldogs get beat for the first time at home
since twenty nineteen. I think it was something like that.
(16:49):
And then last night Dallas ties Green Bay. There should
be no ties in football ever, I mean, I don't
care what you have A dance off, you have a
fist fight, you know whatever there there there should never
be a tie. But I stayed up, watched the whole
thing twelve thirty last night, I think, or so yeah,
so I'm I'm running on fumes this morning, buddy. So
(17:11):
I'm not as young as I used to be, So
go ahead and good now, I was gonna say, but
the good news is the Reds are in the playoffs.
That's right, that's I want to talk about that a
little bit as well.
Speaker 11 (17:21):
So let's time.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Want to start with WVU though, I mean I did
not attend the game. I was, I bet I watched
it at home and there were a very audible chants
of fire rich Rod fire rich Rod. Talking to a
mutual friend of ours earlier this morning, Speedy Bevans, you
know you hear my Metro sports all the time, and
he says, what did they expect was going to happen
(17:42):
with that? He was going to come in with eighty
new players and just say boom, We're we're gonna win
the Big twelve championship.
Speaker 13 (17:48):
I mean, what did they expect? It's it's process. College
football is a lot different. As we all know, you're
gonna have to play the long game. I think wvu's
approaching in the right way and investing. I mean we've
heard over the last couple of weeks or months about
investing in the athletic program. I think that's gonna be
the way to go. You know, you're not gonna have
(18:10):
to worry.
Speaker 9 (18:11):
You're not gonna have to focus on the twenty twenty
five season. You're gonna have to focus on the long game.
They're building a program. I mean, every college football program
is building itself all over again, so every year, every
many cases, every year. But I believe you have to
have your eye on the long term because you're gonna
have to have the facilities, you're gonna have to have
(18:32):
nil money, all that type of stuff, which w WU
is lining itself up to become a contender. You're in,
you're out because you know what, in a couple of years,
we could have one super conference and you want to
be in that. Thirty six ish teams that get in
that super conference have the ability to raise money and
have the facilities to compete.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
You're a popular guy because we have a call for you.
You owe somebody money probably all right, bos, but from Charleston,
you're on with Jim Workman.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
Go ahead, I want to ask gim where I can
get a copy of Wallis and Whimpies. I'm in the
Cistonville area, all right.
Speaker 9 (19:10):
It is easier than ever to get a copy of
Wallis and Whimpies because it's not delivered in print anymore.
It's a daily digital product. It gets delivered to your
inbox every morning at about six thirty but sometime before
seven am you get the daily digital edition of Walies
and Whimpies. It's been a change, but you know, when
(19:31):
we do a print weekly edition, you know, we always
try to focus on the games ahead. We tried not
to recap, you know, the games that had just finished.
But you know, it gets out of date pretty soon
in print. It has to you have a deadline. Like
last year, we didn't get the Monday night games in.
(19:51):
As soon as the Monday Night games are over, we
get those in and it's delivered to your inbox. So
Wallywimpy sports dot com. You go on there and it'll
take you to the E edition and it's four dollars
a month. Four dollars a month, and it gets delivered
to your inbox. You can view it on your phone.
You can view it on your tablet, your laptop, your desktop.
(20:12):
You can print it out, take it with you. I
know people that do that, So whatever however you want
to do it. It's a daily digital.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
Now is there not a hard copy at all.
Speaker 9 (20:23):
Unless you have a xerox. Don't you print it out?
Speaker 14 (20:26):
No?
Speaker 9 (20:27):
Right now, there is not. We may do some special
edition print editions in the future, but for right now,
it gets delivered directly to your inbox.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
Well, we're old people that we're one hundred years behind
in technology, and I'm blind, and I just wanted a
hard copies so my wife could read all of the
scores to them. Right now. I'm a college football fan,
(20:58):
but right now I don't know any scores of anybody
because the Charleston because as loud as he is is,
it doesn't print all the scorers anymore. So I guess
I'm kind of between a rock and heart place. Thanks you,
jam all right.
Speaker 9 (21:13):
Bob, Well, one thing I will address is about Wallies
and whimpies. That's unique is every team, every FBS team
is in there the schedule and results in all the NFL.
I mean, it's really rare to get that. If you
think back to the Sporting News back when we were
growing up. It's kind of like that in Mad Magazine.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
You know what I mean, combination of Sporting News and
Mad Magazine got the.
Speaker 9 (21:37):
Goofy guys on the front. It's got sporting news.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
That's a pretty good way to do it. We're talking
to Jim Workman, all right, so let's let's move on
to the big red machine. Yes, let's talk about it. Well,
did we finish up on WV What do you think
of the stadium being named? It was announced on I
guess Thursday Friday that Hope Gas was going to be
the corporate sponsor. It's going to be now known as
the Hope Coliseum. They dropped the gas from so it's
(22:00):
just going to be the Hope College scene. I for
what I understand programming know, we're gonna have the CEO
of Hope Gas on Metro News midday today, So during
the twelve o'clock hour, I think, what do you think
about that?
Speaker 9 (22:10):
You know, the success of West Virginia Athletics has a
direct effect on the state of West Virginia. I mean,
let's face it, it's an investment. You know, people come in
every weekend. It's a tourist attraction. It's a money maker.
I mean, I have no problem with investing. You know,
somebody's going to give you ten million and you just
(22:32):
hang a sign up or one hundred million or twenty
million or whatever it is, and you hang a sign up.
That's that's smort business. And that's how sports has to be.
It's West Virginia.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
It's a necessity now. And you know, and TJ writes
a great commentary about it today, by the way, and
people will say, well, it's always going to be called
the college. We can call it whatever you want. You
don't have to give the complete title everything. You can
still call it, you know. I mean in Charleston, folks
at Gomart took over the ownership of the of the
Gomart Ballpark a cup years ago. You can still call
it the ballpark. They're not going to come out there
after you or anything.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
But it's it's a necessity now. I mean, it's it is.
It is what it is. And you know, we don't
we don't see it as much at at Marshall. That's coming.
It's gonna happen. It's gonna happen at every at every
college at some point because when you get into nils.
It's it's it's a I don't want to say it's
an evil necessity, but you got to do it. You
(23:25):
have to have it. You you do not survive and
you do not compete without corporate dollars. That's that's just
the way it is. That's right, all right. So the
Reds the Reds, they lost, but because the Mets lost,
the Reds are in the playoffs, right.
Speaker 9 (23:40):
Yeah, Well, I mean it was a long season. Actually,
you have to go back to Midsummer when the Reds
beat the Mets two games out of three in their series.
That was actually the reason why they won the tie breaker.
So even though they both lost, you go back to
that series and that's why they won, so game matters
in the one hundred and sixty two. You know, the
(24:03):
Reds a lot of hope for them going into the season.
I know we were excited as the caravan came through
and a lot of young talent, Terry Francona coming in.
He kind of felt, well, they may be a year away,
but stranger things have happened in the last ten years.
Who would have expected the Kansas City Royals to win
the Nationals? The Rangers two years ago. I mean, the
(24:28):
fact that they're playing the Dodgers concerns me because you know,
the front three pitchers for the Dodgers are pretty much unstoppable.
Blake Snell, Yamamoto and Otani have been kind of unstoppable
as pitchers. But anything can happen. If the Reds are
to win, it's going to be a two to one,
three to two game, and they have to have timely hitting.
(24:49):
You know, the Reds did not have a batter that
hit over two seventy this year. They didn't have a
batter that hit twenty five home runs this year. It's
a truly a team oriented organization, and uh, you know,
they're gonna have to have a little luck. They're gonna
have to have some clutch hits and some some good pitching.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Who's your overall favorite to win the whole thing?
Speaker 9 (25:11):
I mean, I mean, if if the Reds don't get
past the Dodgers, the Dodgers are gonna win it again.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Do you think so?
Speaker 9 (25:20):
I think so. They've got the pitching, they've they're stacked.
I mean, they're just unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
Okay, all right, what about an American league looking at Toronto?
Speaker 9 (25:27):
Uh, you know, the Yankees probably gonna, you know, be
in there. I mean, yeah, Toronto could do it. I mean,
I don't I don't know about the American I think
the American League is going to be a toss up.
I mean, whoever gets hot in the American League is
gonna be in the series and they're gonna have to
face the Dodgers.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
All right, So what's wrong with your Cleveland Browns? You
and Sean Meyer and my brother in law Ron and
uh and Amanda, I mean, what's uh.
Speaker 9 (25:54):
Well, it's time to it's time to throw in the
towel with Flacco.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
I mean, you know, yeah, I mean you got left though.
I mean because they're all hurt, right, I mean they
are or inexperience. Is Brian Sipe available? Could you go
get him?
Speaker 9 (26:07):
I'd love to have Brian Sipe. Yeah, another Brian Sipe
or Bernie Cozar. But you're probably gonna have to throw
one of the rookies in there. I mean, if Joe
Flacco is going to throw two interceptions, are you going
to get upset with Shador Sanders or Dylan Gabriel for
throwing two interceptions? Get him some playing time?
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Yeah? All right, going back to the Mountaineers. Before we
let you go. They got a Friday night game this

Tex says dave A. While I was at the game
on Saturday, didn't hear any calls for fire rich Rod
where I was? Did you hear it on the TV broadcast?
(30:05):
I heard it on the TV broadcast. Now, it could
have been just a couple of guys standing around close
to the microphone. I'm not saying the whole crowd was
doing it, but it was very audible on the TV broadcast.
And the text goes on to say, just wondering what
people were expecting in the true rebuilding year. Well, you
know how sports fans can be, whether the Mountaineers or
anybody else. They want it, and they want it turned
around now, and it's not going to be the year.
(30:25):
Tex says, well, Sinclair cave, they're airing Kimmel again. I'm
happy they took the mask off for that brief moment
to show what they really are a tool for right
wing propaganda. Tex says, is Dave getting upset at people
making money from free tickets? Is Dave getting mad at
the market and at capitalism. I thought you were a
capitalist making money off free tickets that have a demand
is pure unadulterated capitalists. That's some things are just so stupid.
Speaker 17 (30:52):
How are their right wing? If they put Kimmel back
on the air, how does that make them right?
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Well? I think that they I don't I don't really know. Well,
I mean, sint.
Speaker 17 (31:04):
Clair, I think there's some merger activity going on, That's exactly.
And I think that they're afraid of that FCC guy. Yeah,
I think that's what that was all.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
That's exactly what it was about with them and and
Next Star as well. Sinclair's who air is it here?
As locally, We're just happy that people know when all
the all the hoopla was going on about Kimmel last week,
and they were they were blowing up poor Tracy out
here out front that we are not w c HS Television.

But I remember remember when we were just last week,

Speaker 17 (31:55):
The plumbing went out at the restaurant, and the expense
that I would have had to incur to have fixed
it was just too much to overwhelm to overcome. So
we we've closed the restaurant.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Is this a permanent thing?
Speaker 17 (32:13):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, Well.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
I hate that, Danny, because I mean you, you know,
we had you, and we had to bj on a
couple of years and now I'm just saying it seemed
like you were off to a really good start. I
was down there the second day you open, took some
food home, and as great as it always is, but
it's business, you.
Speaker 17 (32:30):
Know, yeah it is, and it's I know I'm just
I don't want to think too much about Okay, makes
me sad.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
All right, But we do want to say that the restaurant,
Danny's Barbecue, it's closed. The second run is closed. It's
not going to and it's not going to reopen now, okay,
all right? Well not so what do you do with
the all your stuff and there? You're still to leave
your stuff up up there?
Speaker 17 (32:57):
Well it's been, That's where it's been.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
I know it's what I'm saying, But I mean I
always told you that what you should do is and
maybe you did do this. I'm busy and I don't
get to come hang out anymore. But I have always
said what you should do is just go down there
and just set up shop every day and have people
come in and talk to you.
Speaker 17 (33:15):
I might open up a bookstore there.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
You go and only sell one book. That's the only
book you're going to sell when that thing eight by
ten glosses and you know.
Speaker 17 (33:24):
So since we're talking about the book, I can give
you a little tidbit, all right. In nineteen seventy two,
I mean I got back from Marshall in June of
seventy two, I Dug Graves all that summer and we
had the garbage strike and I went to work for
(33:45):
Tyler Mount Water Company, de Liver and Bottle of water.
I drank every day. I drank alcohol every day until
my stomach started giving me trouble. It was a burning
and it wouldn't stop burning. And people say, well, you've
got an allstro you've got this, you've got that. Drink milk,
(34:09):
and milk didn't help it at milk. The only thing
milk did was make me fat. But the pain, the
kind of burned sensation that you got was were hunger paints.
That's what it felt like. And I'd eat and it
get worse. And so about March of seventy three, I
(34:34):
didn't detail all this in the book, but a young
lady said, you've got to try marijuana, and so I
smoked some pat with some pot and the pain went away.
And that's that's how I started smoking marijuana. And it
(34:55):
would help me. Like when I I went to work
at the athletic club. I'd get off work and I
was all nervous and everything, and I was burning. You know,
it was burning all I do. I didn't do it
to get high. I did it just to start go
to sleep. So that's how I started. Okay, So, so
(35:16):
is that too much interest? No, it's not just you
didn't do this way, you were sheriffed you. No, I
was seventy I was twenty two years old.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
Okay, this is my younger life.
Speaker 17 (35:24):
I was twenty two years old.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Okay. And there was a stigma I think at that
time around marijuana that is not I mean in certain
circles there's still a stigma around it. But now that
we have medicinal marijuana, we got dispensaries and so on
and so forth, I don't think that it's it's as
big a taboo thing, is what it was in eighteen
seventy three.
Speaker 17 (35:45):
Well, first thing, from what I understand, the pot they
have now is so much strong.
Speaker 3 (35:52):
Yeah, that's what I've heard.
Speaker 17 (35:52):
I mean, I have a I have an experiment with it,
having smoked in forty five years. But forty five and
it we were going through a time back and then,
(36:14):
I mean Jerry Rubin let up a joint on the
PHILADNOI show. I mean marijuana was being smoked on the streets, right,
So it was it was not treated as a crime
unless you had a bushel of it.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Well, and here's my only issue with it.
Speaker 15 (36:36):
Now.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
I believe people are free to danny to do whatever
they want to do. My only issue is is that
in areas where marijuana is legal, and I'll give you a
good example forr Ginia Beach is one of those.
Speaker 15 (36:47):
Here.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
My wife and I go to Virginia Beach frequently. You
cannot smoke a paco. You can't. And I don't smoke anything,
by the way, but you can't smoke a Marlborough in
a place. But people think it's okay to fire up
a joint. I mean, it's smoke as smoke for real. Yeah, yeah,
I mean it's not Uh, it's not uncommon. I mean
I can tell you in one hotel room that we
(37:08):
were staying in on the beach people, I don't think
that people ever went out on the beach because they
were directly below us. All the smoke was coming up.
And you can't do that with cigarette, So why should
you be allowed to do that with marijuana. That's my
only that's my only.
Speaker 18 (37:22):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
And as far as me smoking pot, uh, I don't
need anything to make me eat any more than I
already do. So I'm good. I'm good on that front.

Speaker 17 (37:43):

Speaker 3 (37:46):
Of Have you ever done anything like a food truck
or mobo?
Speaker 5 (37:50):
You?
Speaker 17 (37:50):
No? Never need a lot? Yeah I catered a lot, But.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Would you still cater for people if they if they
called you?
Speaker 17 (37:56):
I mean, yeah, I don't have a license. I do
it through somebody. I've called chef Paul or somebody and
say you want to do this, we'll go and have
I'll now, I'll cook the ribs and you do the
rest or whatever, well something are called you know Martin
over there at Sohoes, or get somebody else to do it.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
All right, So let's go national here for a moment.
The Komy situation, in your opinion.
Speaker 17 (38:22):
Dead won't go anywhere. It's the first thing in that
particular venue and Alexandria where President Trump got twenty percent
of the vote. The jury pool is going to kill
this thing if it gets that far. But I think
the government misconduct is going to it's going to haunt him.
(38:46):
I don't know who the judge is who appointed him,
so maybe i'm speaking out of turn. If it's a
Trump judge, then maybe he'll let it go to trial.
But Comy, the only thing Comy's going to have to
do is spend money on lawyers. He was a leaker.
He was a big time leaker.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Yeah, he got caught up in that. I mean, I
don't think that could be denying.
Speaker 17 (39:05):
He admitted that under oath. He admitted it.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 17 (39:08):
Yeah, But and somebody lied, either he or Andrew McCabe lied.
But that doesn't matter. The truth in this thing doesn't matter,
you know. And in the state case against Trump, Leticia
James said he was too male and too pale.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
That a direct quote.
Speaker 17 (39:31):
That's when she was running for all right. Yeah, she
ran to prosecute him.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
Yeah that she made no secrets about that.
Speaker 17 (39:39):
In the States, you can get away with that, right
the Federals, in the federal government, I don't think you
can say something.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Does it trouble you, Danny when you hear and they
can deny it all they want. But let's face it.
I mean, Donald Trump is he's a very vindictive person.
He was a very vindictive person. And people will tell
you this well before he got into politics. That's just
his nature. He's a tough New Yorker, okay. And it
served him well on certain fronts and not served him
so well on other fronts. Is this just a case
(40:05):
of retribution because this won't I mean he said it
last week, he said this won't. There'll be many more
to come, of.
Speaker 17 (40:12):
Course, of course it is. You know Howard Schultz, you
know who he is, the guy started at Starbucks. He
had a town hall, Fox News town hall and he
was thinking about running for president, and he said they
asked him what he thought about Trump. He said, well,
I like a lot of his policies, but I'd like
(40:34):
to see somebody in here raise their hand and tell
me that they want their kids to emulate his behavior.
And nobody raised their hand. And this is a Fox
News town hall.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
So where else does it go beyond comby? You think,
because you don't, I think Comy's that nothing's going to
nothing's going to come from that.
Speaker 17 (40:56):
Well, I mean it doesn't. The facts and the law
don't matter. That they'll come up with something. And you
know now they're they're sending the Marines into these into
these cities, which I think far, far exceeds their mission.
(41:17):
I guess the excuse they can use is they're protecting
federal property. And when people shoot these ice agents or
shoot into an ICE facility, maybe that gives them reason,
Maybe that gives them cover for what they're trying to do.
But we live in a world, I mean, Joe Manton
(41:38):
just wrote a book about it where the middle, the
mainstream of American politics doesn't make. It doesn't work, doesn't
it doesn't, it doesn't go, You can't make, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Is it possible? You know, Joe's is the eternal optimist.
Is it possible that we ever get back there?
Speaker 17 (42:02):
No, not in my lifetime.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
I agree, you know, and I'm a little bit younger
than you, but I agree.
Speaker 17 (42:07):
It'll be, it'll get worse. And you know, there's something
good going on in Pennsylvania. There are politics up there
because they got three people. One is Fetterman, whose mainstream,
David McCormick senator conservative mainstream, and Josh Shapiro, who should
(42:28):
be in the should be in the White House. That's
you boy, right there, that's right. You loveapi. I do,
and he's a Democrat. I've never voted for a Democrat.
Speaker 3 (42:35):
I think you said that on the show before. You've
never voted for.
Speaker 17 (42:37):
I voted for the last three times I voted for You've.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Never voted for Democrats for president.
Speaker 17 (42:43):
You have obviously contributed. Yeah, yeah, Now there are some
others that are good. This Governor Colorado is a Democrat,
but he's gay, so that won't work. And the Republican
governor of of Utah, who is a very good man.
(43:05):
He'd make a fine president. But these guys are mainstream.
Speaker 3 (43:08):
He picked up a lot of points, I mean, in
a tragedy with that, with that situation in the in
the Kirk shooting.
Speaker 17 (43:14):
And you know that he and he and the governor
of Colorado are.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
They're great friends.
Speaker 17 (43:21):
They are They work together on stuff despite the fact
that one's a Mormon and the other is married to
a man, you know. And it's I like to get
things done.
Speaker 3 (43:34):
I think the times of of getting things done or
maybe behind us, because I don't see it. I don't
see it changing. And now you know the interesting thing
we'll say this will go to break one of the
interesting things here in the that I've noticed in the
West Virginia legislature and already, you know, for twenty twenty six,
people have already come on this show and announced that
they're running. We had one when you were on last week,
as a matter of fact, and uh, but people are
(43:54):
announcing that they're that they're running. And many of the
Republicans that are the City Republicans are saying, you have
to re elect me because we got to keep the
far right people out because there is a further right
than I mean I'm watching they're afraid of some of
the City Republicans are afraid of farther right people getting
(44:18):
at if that makes any sense, going.
Speaker 17 (44:19):
No, no, no, you're right. I'm worried about, like I'm thinking
about Shelley who who will challenge her in the primary.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
She's already got at least one or two and they're running,
calling Shelley Moore Capitol Rhino. That's why they're running. They're saying,
we've got to it's time for her to go.
Speaker 17 (44:37):
Well, President Trump already.
Speaker 3 (44:39):
Endorsed her, yeah, and that's so that should help her.

(47:31):
who is the city mayor who ran as an independent
this time, says he is bowing out the latest poll
or one of the latest polls I saw. This is
from Emerson College September twenty twenty five of the see
the seventh and eighth is when this came out. Mamdami,
who is the Democratic socialistist forty three percent. Curtis Sliwa,
(47:52):
who runs every time you know, you know, formerly of
the Guardian Angels. In that group, he's at ten percent.
Cuomo Andrew Cuomo at twenty eight percent and he's running
as an independent now. Eric Adams was at seven percent
and he has dropped out after vowing that he wouldn't.
He says he's dropping out. You were on the show
a couple of months ago talking about mom Dommy, and
(48:15):
he's the front runner right now, and if I mean
a lot can change, he's probably gonna be the next
mayor of New York City.
Speaker 17 (48:21):
I think it's funny and I'm for it. I listened
to George will the other night, and ever once in
a while, you didn't need to stir a socialists in
there just to prove to people how how bad it
will get if you're gonna, if you're if you're gonna
go that route.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
I mean, isn't the you know, the being the mayor
of the largest city in America or one of the
I mean, it's still the largest city in America. I
guess it is. But is that is that is that
the testing ground? I mean? And there other places.
Speaker 17 (48:51):
Well, I mean we've we've seen in my lifetime, we've
seen I mean under Lindsey under Bean, New York City
crashed and you know, have to file for bankruptcy or
get close to it.
Speaker 3 (49:10):
I saw I was watching something to the documentary or
something a couple of weeks ago, and they were talking
about New York City in the nineteen seventies and eighties.
Oh yeah, and it has come so far from what
it was back then under Ed Kocha and others before him.
Speaker 17 (49:24):
Well Ed Contra is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
Yeah. And Giuliani, for despite the fact he turned out
to be a complete flake later, he was a pretty
good mayor there for a while.
Speaker 17 (49:32):
The best administrator forget the guns, if you forget it,
was Bloomberg and it wasn't even closed. He was the
best mayor that New York City will ever have. If
you can get the guns, if you you know, because
people here, he wants to take our guns.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
Okay, they said the same thing about you.
Speaker 17 (49:52):
Well, I didn't take anybody his guns.
Speaker 3 (49:55):
But I remember I wasn't that we didn't know each
other time. But I remember the whole thing with the
community centers and everything.
Speaker 17 (50:00):
There's a big mistake.
Speaker 3 (50:01):
It went between dollar Danny to that was your next.
Speaker 17 (50:04):
I should have said, I should have opened them up
and just bring the guns.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
But you took a lot of heat for that, and
I won.
Speaker 17 (50:11):
I won the court case.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Yeah, but it was a it was a hall of
how much time do we spend on the on the
on those two things that talked about the user fee
and the guns in the community centers. How much of
that is in the book?
Speaker 17 (50:24):
Not much?
Speaker 3 (50:25):
Okay, not much, Needles, it's more okay, needles.
Speaker 17 (50:28):
Too much time on the needles.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
Okay, give us, give us a little preview here.
Speaker 17 (50:31):
Well, it's just too much. David is too much meaning,
I mean, you've got one guy that was all for him,
and then you've got jb Acres who actually did data,
who did FOI and he documents stuff. I mean he
didn't he didn't go fly by the seat of his pants.
So he's in the book.
Speaker 3 (50:53):
Okay, So uh, what's the latest? Is still around the
same time? You think about in October? Because October starts
in two days, so.

I'll get your opinion on this, it's it's necessary. I mean,
you gotta have it. You got to sell the corporate rights.
