Andy is a former division 1 athlete, actor/model turned entrepreneur after a tragic accident that almost took his life. Attempting to cross the street in 2011, Andy was struck by a westbound heading Land Rover and then run over by an eastbound heading Toyota Tundra. He sustained a shattered jaw, 7 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Unrecognizable, jaw wired shut and nubs for front teeth, Hnilo was looking at what should be a long recovery and an end to a promising career in the entertainment industry.

Grateful to be alive, Hnilo channeled his perspective and looked at his situation as a blessing and began each day with a healthy routine that quickly brought results in his recovery but more importantly, Hnilo found his creative outlet in creating a ‘meal’ for his damaged skin. A heightened awareness of cosmetic ingredients and the importance of using clean ingredients quickly led to Hnilo studying skincare ingredients and how to heal scars. Turning his bedroom into a lab, Hnilo used himself as his biggest science experiment that quickly led to a podcast appearance on Dave Asprey's bulletproof radio. After such a great response and demand for the product that he created to heal himself, Asprey invested and partnered up with Hnilo and Alitura Naturals was born!
