(00:20):
welcome back to Conversations Live. I'myour host, Cyrus Web. Glad you
walk and joined us once again. But for our radio audience cutting in here
in Mississippi a WYE D ninety fourpoint one f M and wyeed online dot
com, we're glad that you walkand be with us. Also study in
their friends world why thanks to IHeart Radio on Amazon Music podcast. We're
glad you walk and be with usas well. But if you ever realize
that the importance of going for yourgoals and dreams, our next guests,
(00:42):
I think will definitely inspire you. We're excited to welcome Chef Mbersau to our
broadcast today. She's someone she's onlybeen to share her love of cooking,
but also people as well. She'sinvolved in the special competition this year as
well. We're gonna talk to hernot only about that experience and sharing her
own story, but also what it'sbeen like for her to inspire others along
the way too. Are so thankyou so much for the time. Really
appreciate it. Thank you so muchfor having me miss it well. I
(01:03):
appreciate that now the pleasure selthing onlineto please call me Sorrus. I'm old.
I'm old, but not that oldlooking at it, I appreciate that.
But look, so I want totalk about this experience for you because
you've been able to share, asI mentioned, your love of cooking with
the world, but also of courseyour love of life too. What has
that been lengthy to see how you'vebeen able to only pursue your own dreams
(01:26):
but also to inspire other people.Um, it is amazing. I feel
like everything I go through your lifeisn't just for myself, it's for other
people, to those some get rid, to need those from about to help.
And it's been amazing. You'd besurprised how much we try to fake
and do someone else, only tofind out that our authentic self is what
resonates for people. And for me, that has just been just a case
(01:47):
where people gravitate towards you because butsomething within you they see within themselves.
And once you start talking and youshare stories, you realize no matter where
you are in life, no matterwhere they are, you have a lot
of similarities. Yeah, so true. I noticed That's what I was prepping
for the sema with you, Amber, that one of the things that you
credit for this journey is your mother. Talk to us about how she's inspired
you and what it's been length youto take that inspiration with you. My
(02:09):
mom is an amazing person. Mymom, I've always noticed that everything she
did, she did the glove shedid from wholeheartedly, then think of herself
first at all she just did.And I took a lot of those lessons
with me throughout life and they helpedme get as far as I am now
to treat people how I want tobe treated. I pretty much say that
(02:30):
on those Southern values, treat peoplewill respect, put your heart in whatever
you do, whatever you do,be the best in whatever you do,
and so far, like I mentioned, it has gotten me as far as
I am. Yeah. And Ithink the thing about you is that,
of course we're talking about you know, your journey of the ship, but
also I think it goes for anyonelistening Amber to realize what they're been able
to do in life. Talk tous about your love of food. When
(02:52):
did you first discover that? Ohwow, My overall of journey has been
a very different one, okay. And my love for food, of courst
came from being from the South.Send your mom in the kitchen, cooking
dooring her than you know. Everybodyhas that story, but that is really
true for me. From my storyis little deeper than that it promos.
For me, it is more soundertly choosing myself over circumstance UM, going
(03:15):
after what I wanted and being ableto be unapologetic courts UM. I didn't
want to um anyone to put acap on my creative potential, so I
for myself, I created a lanefor me when I felt no doors were
open. Of course, then fromthe South, food is amazing, of
course, But I yeah, Iput my UM how I put in my
(03:38):
knowledge and my experience in the healthcarefield, and I also put that into
the love of being able to creategreat things um to better help my people.
When I say better help my people, I mean more so in an
instance of we have for the highestrates of obesity, you know, diabetes,
hoigh, blood pressure, cholesterol issuesand I wanted to be able to
(03:58):
UM be a part of fixing theproblem and not the problem. So UM
and people have this thing the mentalitywhere they're like, you know what if
it is improved on, fix it, and but no, it needs to
fix it because the long term effectsour weigh it now. And so I
want to create something where people canindulge in love great food at the same
time it's prepared aper, prepared ina way that's better for you. Also,
(04:23):
at the same time, it isgood for you, whether these same
based options or preparation within itself,it is a better UM, a better
way of eating. And I thinkthat that says a lot about you,
amber that you want to be ableto help others. It's not just about
you, it is about being ableto help other people, which brings us
to the competition because I think what'sso cool about this And of course anyone
(04:47):
who watched the show a top stepon Bravo chorus, we all know who
Carla Hally is and what he's beenable to do now to being able to
present this great opportunity. First ofall, here you are, you know,
being able to compete for this amazingprice. But also they use your
platform in such a big way.I noticed when I was prepping for this
amber, you said you only wantedto do this for yourself and for your
(05:09):
son, but also to help others. So how did you find out about
the competition? Honestly, it's oneof those things that choosing yourself. So
I think I happened to be onsocial media or online. I know that,
and I happen to I happened tosee something, and you know what,
I started, honestly, Sires,I started to just pass by.
I said, Okay, this isnot man, you know. But something
was in you, how being funnest, and something within me was like,
(05:31):
you know what, you're all goahead and apply to two they're talking about,
and believe it or not, Iapplied for and forgot about it.
And when I got to see emailsstating that I was chosen to me one
of the participants, I would justlike, huh, you know, And
it was an amazing opportunity because oneof those things of you looking looking at
yourself and looking back on the choicesthat you make and being like, you
(05:54):
know what, I'm happy that Idecided to go for what I thought I
wanted to do versus what I thoughtit was um and that's yeah, that's
how I found out about it.I want to if you don't mind U,
I want to share Amber what youwrote on your Facebook page in a
reel because I think it says alot, not only of course when you
(06:14):
announcedee your audience to your fans andsupporters about the opportunity, it says a
lot about your faith and the rolein this. You wrote, when God
show up, be ready for Godto show out. And then of course
you announced about the competition, butthen you said this. I did this
on a whim. I almost doubtedthe opportunity and let it pass me by,
but something within me said go forit and trust the process, so
(06:36):
I did. What has it beenlike for you to believe in yourself?
Because that's something that is not easyfor a lot of people, and a
lot of people honestly is you know, don't do it. What has it
been like for you to see whathappens when you do believe in you?
I'm not gonna like you. Sorrymake me emotional when you said I don't
faith Now. I've always been aperson who knew that the traditional life was
(06:56):
not for me. You know,I always felt like ront was open for
me. I want to create myown And I remember working a nine to
five jobs and the healthcare field andalways going to work, and it just
not be what you expect for tobe. People are oftentimes saying of course
they're sick, they're sick, andgoing to different things. And but something
about myself, I always was ableto bring light out of those people and
(07:20):
create friends when they felt like theydidn't have any. And I wanted to
use that platform, and I realizedI was. I was much more than
that moment, not saying I wasbetter than anyone, but I was much
bigger than much bigger than that moment, to the point that I knew my
purpose a long time ago, andI knew that how people was it,
and I knew ministry and some typeof way it was it, But I
know how, And I realized thatwe all seem to people seem to connect
(07:45):
when it comes to fool we evendan, you know, and seeing when
we getting ready to eat. ButI'm just saying that to say I quit
my job. Honestly, my mamadidn't know right away. I quit my
job and I took a chance onmyself, and honestly, I was in
need of a car, some morestuff at that time. And understand the
premisshoe. The moment I showed myself, God showed up. I was already
(08:05):
in the mix, but God showedup and showed out and meet even once
I put my job, I donot care anybody. But when I put
my job, I got. Thevery next day I got, I got
a new car that I had appliedfor. Also, I happened to meet
a girl along the way and shewas in a store and I just happened
to be talking to her before aboutwhat I've done and nixton, you know,
(08:26):
she connected me with this other guyand created a platform when I was
almost at the corner giving up onmyself. And if you know, anne
Berg, just go ahead and doit. And I stepped out of the
box. I went out and Imet people, and I networked in ways
that I would never network before. And I was just being genuinely met and
people gravitated towards that. I bookedmy first celebrityclin and shortly after that and
since then, I've been that girlas far as an industry person. And
(08:50):
of course I don't, of courseshow everything on social media because to me
I love what I do. Itwas a hobby first and then it just
came my life. But I truly, truly, truly, truly enjoy what
I do. But I took achance on myself, and I have little
sets about it. God was wasmentioning my name in rooms that I hadn't
(09:13):
even walked in yet. And mytrack record so far has been amazing.
I'm not going to be that personto say it's been perfect. And every
day I got if, I gotthat. No life comes of struggles,
but as long as you have beliefsand you're willing to get out and do
the work and put yourself aside andlearn how to be of service to other
(09:33):
people. See, everyone wants tobe in the forefront, but nobody wants
to be behind the scenes and makethings happen. It's okay to be is
it to be the behind the sceneperson? Because when it's time for you
to shine, it's be hard. You're going to shine. But in the
background, do the work, dothe work. So therefore the progress shows
for itself what you're capable of.Such a great point in such a great
(09:54):
message, I think, and butfor all of us to keep in mind,
and again you said to me,the thing that is so important that
is, don't be afraid to dothe work. A lot of times people
want the rewards, but they don'twant the work that gets to the rewards,
right, and so that is sucha big deal for sure. So
you know, when you made thatpost that I reference on Facebook, and
we're gonna let our audience know,of course that to stay connect with you
(10:16):
as well as how they can votefor you, Amber. But what would
it likely to see the outpoint oflove that came your way when you made
the announcement. You know what? That was really really really really amazing,
to the point that it made meemotional because I'm a person who I see
in my own lane starts I lovea person from Afar. Okay, yeah,
but don't you don't mean I wishthat on anyone. I'm always the
(10:37):
first to support someone and just dothat girl, which might I hear from
you, Austen. So for meto make that announcement, I got the
outpour of messages, outpour of messagesI'm sorry that came through, and people
were like, um, how canI vote you? How can I It's
just so really really really good, and I think it was a great thanks
too for the community to have comefrom where I came from. Um and
(10:58):
I love where I'm from, ashamedof it at all, but you come
to have come from where I camefrom, and people I gave them,
I think, a sense of purpose. You know. It made them feel
really good that one of our ownis doing something with themselves, you know,
and it's just feels really good.It feels really really good. And
it still feels good to know thatyou had I had that type of support.
(11:20):
That's a great thing. And Ilove the fact that the community is
able to show that love and thesupport for you. So again, everyone,
we've been speaking with chef Amber Soul. We're talking with her not only
