Is you know?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
And welcome back to another episode of You Can Overcome
Anything Podcast Show. It is your host Caesar Espinom and
today I have a special guest. His name is Alex Thorick.
He is the founder of a marketing agency and co
founder of a Building, Income and Demand, a marketing consulting company.
He's a digital marketer who has great experience working with

(01:20):
different industries such as spas, gym's, coaches, consultants, real estate,
and restaurants. He's a big sport fan, all of a
second hand black belt in taekwondo, practicing it for the
last fifteen years, even had his own school. Hey Alex,
how's it going.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Brother, I'm good, Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Yeah, no, definitely. Well, you know, I love to I
always love to see what people are able to do
and do and and part of it, I think is
part of how they set their mind, and a lot
of it has to do with growing up and things
like that. So why don't you tell me a little
bit about your growing up? Where are you're originally from
and how how was that for you?

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Sure? So, originally I'm from Moldova, which is a small
country in eastern Europe right between Ukraine and Romania. Was
growing up when I was growing up, So my dad
was in the army for twenty years, so joking, essay,
I was growing up in the army in a way. Yeah,
discipline was right there, which I'm grateful for it. I

(02:25):
was always playing sports, practicing practicing sports, swimming, basketball, The
main one was taekwondo, as you mentioned, painting it for
fifteen years now. But yeah, like overall, I had great childhood.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, at which point in your life, you know, did
you kind of get into marketing or how did that
count about?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
So in terms of the marketing, when we moved to Canada,
I went to college, I was going through my I
was going through marketing one to one pretty much, and
at the same time I was part of this new
marketing company where we were because I'm sure you know
how the network marketing industry works. You can sell services

(03:13):
or products as well as a grower team. So I
wanted to grow my team, but I didn't want to
run after people and show them to the presentation, show
the business opportunity. So I was trying to find a
way how people can come to me. So I found
out about the funnels, sales funnels, marketing funnels. So I
started learning more and more and more about it, started

(03:35):
buying courses about funnels, smale marketing, paid ads, social media,
pretty much digital marketing in general. Right, And I was
in college at that time were we had marketing one
to one and we were mostly covering traditional marketing and
didn't really talk much about digital marketing. So I had

(03:58):
decided to at that time, looking at what people were
doing in the digital space, I decided to quit college,
but at the same time I was practicing taekwondo like
six days a week. I wanted to go to the
Olympics at some point, but then I had to decide
for myself what I want to do, either a business

(04:20):
or sport, because you literally have to it's your full
time job. Like you can't get sports, it's your full
time job.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
So that's yeah, that's how my marketing journey started.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, yeah, definitely when you talk about that too, you know,
think thinking about it, you know, it is a full
time job. You can also build a career off of that, right,
and so you know, it all depends on how I'm assuming,
how you you go about it, right, and so maybe
thinking of that, you know, you've been in the inn
and for a long time, why wouldn't you stick to

(04:51):
that if you love that so much? And I knew
that you could probably make a career off of that
and decided to shift gears.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
So in terms of the taekwondo, is the support itself,
Like the most that I could do out of it
is open to school and maybe do a franchise like
some some schools are doing it now. But it wasn't
something that I wanted, Like, it wasn't I didn't want
to make to build a business out of it. I

(05:20):
enjoyed practicing it. I enjoyed doing this for going to competitions,
and I did have as as you mentioned school, but
it was like it wasn't a full on scale school.
I was part of university and we were in charge
of the program there.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Got it? Yeah, yeah, got you?

Speaker 1 (05:40):
What what what is the reason you guys decided to
move to Canada?

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Was school?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
I was my family? No, it was my parents. Yeah,
so they pretty much brought us to Canada.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
But and what I'm saying is I'm from Mexico, right,
and maybe you know same thing I get. I came
here when I was ten, and I was saying I
moved here at ten, but late movie attend they dragged
me right because they wanted to provide a better life
for for for myself and for my family.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Was the same case for.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
You, Yeah exactly region Yeah got you.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
Got you, got you got it.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
So tell me a little bit about the mindset, because
actually one of the things that you have here is
you know that I think is important is that having
the right mindset is the most important thing in business
and in life. Tell me more in that deeper a
little bit on that, because that's as you've been able
to build your businesses and actually carry yourself in life.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Tell me more about that.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
Yeah, speaking of the mindset, So what basically happened with
me back when when we were stumbled I joined this
I was selling products of one of the companies there
and my dad so I was seventeen at the time.
My dad told me to read the book Reagin that

(06:54):
sure you know it, I'm sure many of our listeners
know it. And that's when a lot of things literally
changed in my mind the way I used to view
the world, and it was kind of a before and
after transition on how the world really works and what
is possible to do with your your life, with your career.

(07:17):
So with the mindset itself, it's extremely important to that's
what I believe in. It's extremely important to still do
personal development because that will improve your life in pretty
much in all areas of your life, and whether it's

(07:37):
health and fitness, whether it's financial, whether it's something that's
related to family and self developmental self improvement is what
helps you have the right mind and the better mindset
as well.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, No, I totally agree with you, and I think
that's part of it.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
Yeah. Yeah. One more thing that I wanted to mention.
I'm sure you've heard of the saying you're the average
of five people that you hang up hang around with. Yeah, yeah,
that's one hundred percent true. And if you spend the
time with people that that want something better for the life,

(08:18):
those people have a different type of mindset and for you,
whether you want it or not, you will become better.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know that's that's that's interesting.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
And I like that and that itself, and I always
take it a bit further and and you probably agree
with with the following and and part of it is
you know, you're the average of the five people, right,
And I said, well, those those that group of people
is dividing into different categories, right, and and one of
them will be to be, uh, a mentor or someone

(08:51):
you're learning from. The generally has an interesting you. Right now,
that could be someone that you're paying. You know, you're
probably paying somebody like you. You've educated yourself and you've
paid a lot of different people to help you get
to where you are. So again, that's a mentor, someone
that wants to see you succeed. Obviously you're paying for that.
Service sometimes sometimes may be picking up a book or something.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:10):
So there's that mentors component. The other aspect, or the
other group of people are people that are probably at
the same playing field as you, people that are its
side by side with you, right, and they're trying to
get to that next level, right whatever that might be.
The difference here though, is that they're not competing with you. Instead,

(09:33):
they're edifying you, they're helping you. They're working with you
side by side to get to that to whatever you
want to get to, right. And so that's what I
consider to be like a joint venture. You know, like
in real estate, you do a lot of joint ventures.
When you're you have one investor, another investor comes in.
Instead of competing, they say, hey, why don't we work
together so we can get buy this house or get
into this investment in real estate and do it together.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
And the last one, which I think is probably the
most important one of all of them, is this is
the time where you can actually reach down and lift
people up to your level. People don't want to become you.
There were you before. Now they want to come to
your level and can to go that route. And so
that's the act of service, the act of building back
right to me, that's the average five those three different

(10:18):
groups of people, right, and and you're right again, you're you're,
you're you're essentially hanging around with a different crowd that's
going to help you get there in one shape.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Or form, right, and so.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
So that's huge.

Speaker 1 (10:31):
So tell a little bit about your your you know, you're,
the company, the companies you have, and and then also
building income and demand.

Speaker 2 (10:38):
What what is that about?

Speaker 3 (10:40):
So in case with the building income and demands based
on the last So, as I told you regarding how
I started in marketing, I started my first agency with
my three other friends, and people told those friendship and
businesses not the same thing, and we're like, no, no,
we're going to figure it out. So I didn't. I

(11:01):
ended up. I decided to start from the beginning, opened
to another agency. At the end of the day, one
of the guys left as well. So my friend you know,
and I we were still in we were staying in contact.
He was doing he was running his agency, I was
running mine, and we were both mostly working with service businesses.

(11:24):
And at some point and we would also send each
other clients. Let's say, like I wouldn't necessarily want to
work with certain industries and the ones that he would
work with, so we would exchange clients as well or refer.
And at some point we just sat down and we
wanted to see what type of clients get the best

(11:44):
results and what is it that they do or we
help them with that they get those hyper results in
their business and I want to say those supper results.
We were mostly providing a client acquisition slashly generation type
of services like we've tried it all websites, social media,
but our main one is the leg generation the client acquisition,

(12:07):
which is the pidas email marketing on the back end.
And we decided so we found that there are nine
steps that we usually help them with and that they
go through in order to have really good results, and
we decided to put together a marketing training company and
now help business owners service business owners implement the system.

(12:28):
So we pretty much teach them, We do it with them,
which teach them how to do it, and after that,
after that they're good to go, so they don't need us.
If they want to hire somebody after that, they definitely could,
but at least they also understand what's important, what metrics
to look at what KPI is to track in their

(12:50):
business in the marketing side of the sales side. So
even if they work with another freelancer, another agency, they
know what they need to look at.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Got it.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
So, just I understand the building in command demand, you're
essentially training them and how to look at those matrix
of KPIs. You kind of train them through.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
The whole process.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Building a marketing aspect or a marketing leg is more
teaching them about marketing.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
So we we build it with them and we show
them how to manage it, how to set it. Yeah,
so it's a mixed make surable so they can do
everything on their own after that.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Got it? What what what industries do you do you
do that for?

Speaker 3 (13:35):
Mostly it's insurance, financial advisors, real estate. Those are the
main ones I would say, because we could literally help.
Let's say that this one. Then also gym, SPA, restaurants,
any service based business plumbers track. But also in the
world you know that. I'm sure you've heard of the

(13:57):
saying if you talk to everyone in talk to no one, yeah, yeah,
or yeah to nobody. And we decided to just focus
specifically on the insurance and financial space. Even though we
do still get people from other industries and we help
them with that as well.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, got it.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
Yeah, And are you doing this specifically only in Canada
or are you doing this in the US too?

Speaker 3 (14:19):
It's mostly cant the US, gotcha?

Speaker 2 (14:22):
Got you? For people in real estate?

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Is that from an agent perspective or from an investor perspective?

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Because there's twofferent things obviously, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
Yeah, so in this case, it's mostly from agent agent
slash broker perspective.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, gotcha. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, in terms of yeah, because they need those. I mean,
investors also need leads.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Like those are harder to come around for sure. Yeah,
and I know that because I'm a real estate investor,
so you know, even myself, you know, while I already
I'm using some sort of marketing which is a bit costly,
it's one of those things that I'm planted to tap into,
like how can I get better leads low that that
suits my needs? And as you know from me, an

(15:03):
investor perspective is a bit challenge.

Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah. I mean the structure is pretty much the same,
it's the messaging that's going to be different.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Right.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
So what we really help with, would like to help with,
is build the foundation first, because the foundation. The way
we look at the foundation is we like to look
at the evergreen business fundamentals pretty much, and then we
add up on top of that. Of course, we add

(15:31):
the different platforms, so Facebook and Instagram, plus we use AI,
the CRM, the automations that comes with it. But we
like to build the foundations first and then we start
ending up new things to it.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah, for sure, for sure know that that's awesome. I
love what you have here.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
I'm gonna shift yours a little bit back to our
mindset because I believe it's huge and I love what
you have here in this squad that you're gonna leave
us with. It says a rod cuts through a rock
because of his power, but because of his persistence. And
I think that's huge. And I never heard that quote before,
and nevertheless it's huge because you're right persistently, is all right?

Speaker 3 (16:11):
And so.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Explain to me, you know what that quote means to
you and how can people apply in their lives.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
So for me personally, this quote I came across this
code I think like four or five years ago. I
have it on my wall, still have it on my wall.
I printed it out. It was actually quote from Jim
Watkins and the way I look at it, it does
matter what life throws it to you. If you are

(16:43):
persistent enough and you never quit, you'll get to your goal.
And when I saw this quote, so I've since we're
in Canada, I visited Niagara Follows. I don't know, like
six seven times now. I think like every time friends come,
like we go and show them, like drive there and
when if you're gonna look at the I don't know,
have you ever been there?

Speaker 2 (17:03):
No?

Speaker 3 (17:04):
Okay, but when you go there, because you can go
you can take the ferry and go closer, or you
can look at it from the top. And when you
look at from the top, and when you see the
water going all the way down like this moment, you
can see the rocks right under the water there the

(17:26):
surface of the rock, like of course you can't touch it,
but you can see that it's so smooth. And then
let's say one year after another, like we would come
and go and I noticed that like there were certain
rocks that would be the surface. Would trying to find the.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Word like it's diminishing, it's getting smaller, or it's getting smoother.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Yeah, yeah, it's smoother. Yeah, it is getting smoother pretty much.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
Yeah, So with the with that being said, I mean
if the water can do that, it's just like time.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Yeah, you know what.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
And that's true and and the big challenge that many
people have, and even myself included, you know, sometimes I
look at stuff and it's like, you know, I want
it now, right, I want this to take place now,
and and and sometimes unfortunately and and and part of
it too is like you see somebody else like you
see you might see a friend or somebody else that
you might have started working together at the same level.

(18:25):
Then you can see them even further away than you
like they're they're much more ahead. And so sometimes like
well when it's in my time or or why is
that person ahead of me? Or why am I not
there now?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Right?

Speaker 1 (18:37):
And and I think part of that it goes back
to just mentioning it is huge, and it's a good
lesson for people that are listening to to this is
that persistence is all in time? Is everything right? And
and and your time and my time, Well we probably
start at the same level, is different, right, It's not
gonna be the same. We all have our own journey
to follow. Me have our own path and unfortunately, so

(19:01):
I must make different type of choices during that pattern.
That hence why we are in different places. Yeah, we
learned from those, from those choices and those lessons, and
so that's huge. I love I love that that you
you have there for sure.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, regarding the choices, I can't agree with you. More
like during the last four years, I'm had certain choices
that I would not want to I'm not going to
repeat again. One because I want to say my choices
I'm referring to. So I tried a bit of crypto.
I tried to launch a e commerce brand. So we

(19:36):
didn't want to have just a store, but we wanted
to have like build an entire brand. But all that
takes time, and I didn't want to go too much,
too far away from the main business, which was the
agency providing services to our clients, because that way, if
my focus goes somewhere else, the quality of the service

(19:56):
is not going to be there as well.

Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah, yeah, I think there's two essence is there too,
which are huge. Number One, you know, well you said
there was those choices and you wouldn't want to try
them again. The biggest thing with all of that is
that you were persistent. You didn't give up, right, you
know something, I'm like, it's not working. You keep you
try something else. I have a mentor that he here
refers to it as throwing noodles at the wall to

(20:19):
see what's what's going to stick right? You imagine while
you're throwing a bunch of noodles to see, okay, what's
it gonna stick?

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Right?

Speaker 1 (20:26):
And so you were trying. You didn't give up. So
that's the first reason, take think is huge. The second one, though,
is it sounds to me that it came to a
point in in in that period that you decided, you
know what, I need to have a moment of clarity
and I need to have a moment of focus, right,
clarity and focus, and said, okay, instead of doing all

(20:46):
this throwing all these noodles and I know that I'm
good at this or that whatever. That that that focus
focal point came and you decided to stay on top
of that, which is huge too. And sometimes we got
to be able to do that, you know, we got
to be able to make sure that we we we
kind of laid back a little bit, have a moment
of clarity and then focus on things that really matter
and go after that one hundred percent?

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Can I agree more with you on that? And speaking
of focus, I literally have this word focused on my phone.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
I love that's a background. Yeah, so every single time
I open it, I see that.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Like say focus on perc.

Speaker 3 (21:18):
Yeah, there is there is a book that I read
a couple of months ago, and I've heard of it
the one thing yep, yep, yeah have you read it?

Speaker 2 (21:28):
I have not read it yet?

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Okay, well I buy Struggle suggested to I will definitely. Yeah,
It's it's like I've I read it once, took all
the notes, and I re read my notes I think
like three times by now because it's yeah, it's amazing.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
No, nice, that's nice. Nice? Nice? Well, Alex, what can
people find out about you?

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Know?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
What do you have going on? Building income and demand?
Anything that you have going on? How can they contact you?

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Sure? They can find me on social media at Alex
Thorick T h O R. I see pretty much on
every platform LinkedIn Facebook, Instagram, or check out our website
building Income on to my dot com. We do have
free resources. We actually do have the nine steps that

(22:14):
I mentioned. We're giving it away for people to implement.
In their business. So it's free of charge. We just
want to make sure that people have the proper systems
in their business.

Speaker 2 (22:24):
Gotcha. Awesome? Okay, cool?

Speaker 1 (22:26):
And then do you have talking about focused, talking about
persistence and all that stuff. What are your day habits?
Do you have any day habits?

Speaker 3 (22:37):
I do so trying first of all making up at
the same time, but in order to do that, you
need to go to bed at the same time, and
that's usually the hardest pride. Yeah, it's one of the
biggest challenges. I like to read at least thirty minutes
a day. It's either read my notes from books or
read another book. Definitely only workout so again, either in

(23:03):
the morning to do some stretching to prepare for the day.
Like those are typical habits that I'm doing. And I
do work out so now because we were traveling for
the last four months and my schedule is uh another place,
yeah yeah, another place where it used to be. But
I'm getting back to it. But usually I would work

(23:24):
out pretty much original day.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Gotcha.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Yeah, I want to say workout, I'm not I'm not
going to like go into the gym too crazy, Like
one day could be cardial, another day could be a
weight training.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yeah. Yeah, and it's the same same with me.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
I mean every day I also say workout and at
the same time, you know, I don't really do the gym.
It's more of I walk for a walk, if you know,
doing at the end of day. I think people need
to do some sort of movement and incorporate as part
of your daily routine. People underestimate how critical that is
and how that can bring some peace and in tranquility

(23:58):
to your life, which, as you mentioned, I like to
do it in the morning because then I can start
my data fresh.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
Right Yeah. And then I also like to do it at.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
Night already, you know, when I'm done with work, so
that I can you know, easy into my my night
and then go to sleep and be good for the
following day.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Right.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
So yeah, definitely that's huge. Last question I have for
you for the people that are listening to us, if
they're going to going, if they're going to any challenge,
whatever challenge that might be, what is one thing you
can say to them so they can start overcoming that challenge.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
The biggest thing I would say, take a step back,
look at it the thirty thousand you see what could
be improved what you need, what you don't need, get
rid of what you don't need, and yeah, keep keep
and focus on that one thing.
