Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to Your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning. It is Thursday. It's
August seven, twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El
David Harris. I am your host, and this is your
Daily Portion where we give you God's Word every single day,
and today is no exception. We are continuing in our
Lesson study series through the Book of Exodus, and our
caption for the day is the Song of Moses and Miriam.
(00:58):
The Song of Moses and Miriam. Before we get into this,
I'd like to say welcome to you and ask you
to go over to your Daily Portion dot com. Please
join our online community, pick up your Daily Portion Life
application guide, and also let us know where you are
in the world at your Daily Portion dot com. This
(01:19):
is one of the ways that we continue to build
faith and fellowship. Let's go ahead and pray. Father, we
thank you for giving a foretaste of glory Divine in
the Song of Moses and Miriam. We know that one
day we will sing the song of Moses and the land.
One day we'll see you as you are. Please please
(01:41):
help us to look forward to that day. But in
the meantime, to be to be your your hands and
feet in the earth, and to occupy and vest until
you come in Jesus name, I pray, Amen and amen
again the Song of Moses and Miriam so much to say.
Let's see if we can package this just right this morning.
(02:05):
So we're going to begin by reading in Exodus chapter fifteen,
just verse one, just verse one. The Bible reads then
sang Moses and the children of Israel. So if you
are avid readers or you're a writer, then since it
says then sang you're looking for, well, what happened before? Well,
what happened before is what we talked about. Yesterday. God
(02:28):
delivered his people from Egyptian captivity, and then he delivered
them through the Red Sea on dry ground. And before
I start preaching about that again. I'm going to move forward. Then,
sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto
the Lord, and spake saying, I will sing unto the Lord,
(02:50):
for he hath triumphed gloriously. What I want you to
do before we get anywhere else in this lesson is
begin to sing unto God. God. The Bible says that
he inhabits God, he inhabits the praises of his people.
I want you to sing unto the Lord because he
(03:10):
has triumphed gloriously in the earth before you were even born,
Before the people that you know in your ancestry, two
or three generations before you were born, way back until
Adam and Eve. He triumphed gloriously for them. But in
your life he triumphed as well. The only reason you're
(03:31):
able to hear me, see me, or sense that we
are together today, by whatever means that you are sensing
the reality here. I don't know what you are going through,
but the only reason that you're still here, no matter
your condition, no matter your impediments, if you have any,
no matter your triumphs in the moment here, is because
(03:52):
He triumphed before this moment earlier today, yesterday, two days ago,
six days ago, eighteen days ago, years ago, he triumphed gloriously.
The horse and his rider hath he thrown down in
the sea. Who are the horse and rider in your life?
We know that we don't wrestle against flesh and blood,
(04:14):
but against principalities and powers, and the rulers of the
darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places.
We know the devil is our enemy. But we know
that if we have on the entire armor of God,
if we have on those seven implements of war, including prayer,
that means that God has triumphed gloriously in our lives,
(04:36):
and the horse and his rider he has thrown into
the sea, even if we've not seen it yet. But
in this case they had already seen it, and so
of course God triumphed gloriously. This means, this means the
Hebrew term I'm not going to try to pronounce this one.
It means repeated for emphasis, over and over, they repeated
(04:58):
how God triumphed glory, meaning a majestic triumph. And then
of course God hurled the enemies of God away in
a violent way. They're not coming back from this one,
and so Miriam repeated this in verses twenty and twenty
one with timbrel and dance. This highlights the corporate worship.
(05:22):
This highlights in this moment that God saw fit that
these women would lead the people in the spirit of testimony.
The Bible says that the people of God overcame Him,
meaning the devil, by the blood of the lamb, and
by the word of their testimony. They love not their lives,
even to the point of death. And these women being
(05:43):
led by Miriam. Don't look at Miriam's entire life and say, oh,
she made a mistake here, Oh she made a mistake there.
In this moment, she understood. She and her sisters understood
that the people needed to be led into worship, and
they did just that. They led the people into worship.
(06:03):
The song looks forward to Canaan and reflects the sanctuary
themes of victory and dwelling with God. Let me read
a couple of quotes to you from the book Testimonies
for the Church, Volume four, page five hundred ninety five.
He who declared Israel then is the delivered Excuse me,
(06:23):
Israel then is the same mighty deliverer today do you
believe it? Brothers and sisters, do you believe it's the
same God who delivered them, who is able to deliver
you today. He can still open paths for his people
when there seems that's in air quotes to be no way,
(06:47):
Oh my, let's go to Patriarchs and Prophets, page two
hundred and eighty nine. That song does not belong to
the Jewish people alone. So lest you think that that
was way back then, all those years ago, just for
those people, it points forward to the destruction of all
of the enemies of righteousness and the final victory of
(07:09):
the people of God. And I've already said to you
that we have to look forward to that based on
Revelation chapter fifteen, Our opportunity. In our opportunity, Revelation chapter
fifteen and verse three, then sang, they sang, meaning the
people who have been redeemed from the earth. In the
final analysis, they sing the song of Moses, the Servant
(07:33):
of God, and the song of the Lamb. Now we
see Jesus present, we can actually see him present. There's
so much more that I could say. I could say,
let's go for some context at that time. So the
song of Moses and Miriam was a celebration, yes, but
(07:53):
it was theological. And I know even people like me
will often say it doesn't need to be a theological
disc dission like a cerebral intellectual discussion regarding God. But
in this case, it declared that God. This is about theology. Now,
God and not Moses. God was the people of God's deliverer.
(08:15):
It positioned Yahweh, blessed be his name as the warrior, redeemer, judge,
and eternal King. These are themes recurring in the scriptures.
It forecasted their future victory in Canaan and rooted their
faith in a proven past. I read one day that
(08:35):
we have no reason to fear for the future except
we forget what God has done for us in the past.
And finally, it turned collective trauma. Ooh, some of you
are trauma bonding right now. Look it up. I don't
have time to explain it, but some are trauma bound
(08:55):
to other people or other groups of people. But it
turned that collective trauma into a collective praise. It turned
that collective trauma for all of those millions of people
into a collective praise. This moment also solidified the identity
of God's people, not just as escape ease, they're not
(09:15):
refugees only, but as the people that are led by
their victorious God. So really, this is the last thing
I'm going to say for today. If God brought you through,
don't just say thank you. Don't be satisfied with just
saying thank you. Raise your voice and sing it like
you mean it. Yeah, the Lord has triumphed gloriously. Do
(09:40):
you believe it? Make it a great day. Peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,
