Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too much,
because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy for
today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect yesterday's
portion of heavenly manna the word of God to keep
us through today's challenges. On this program, we are going
to change all of that. Let's experience God's words today
(00:23):
and receive the power we need to live healthy, vibrant lives.
Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning. It is Thursday. It's
August twenty one, twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
Hello.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
By name is El David Harris. I am your host,
and this is your Daily Portion where we give you
God's word every single day, and today is no exception.
We are continuing in our Lesson study series through the
Book of Exodus, and our caption for today is the
Law as God's promise for us, and I would say
to us, the Law as God's promise to us. We'll
(01:04):
get into that in just a moment, but first I'd
like to say welcome, Welcome, Welcome to everyone joining us,
especially those joining for the very first time. If this
is your first time, please type A one in the chat.
You're in social media, you are on YouTube, type A
one in the chat. And again, if you are listening
on the radio, you can come back to one of
(01:24):
the recordings. Now after it's all over, the lives are over,
you can go back to the recording and type of
one in the comment section. And if you were invited
by someone, go ahead and type A two. It's your
first time, and you were invited by someone, go ahead
and type A two in the chat. And I want
(01:44):
everybody who sees the ones and the two's coming up
in these chats and in the comment section to say
welcome to the individuals who are coming in for the
very first time. We are hundreds of thousands of people
every single day listening and or watching the Your Daily
Portion program, all of us looking for a way to
(02:05):
continue to build faith in fellowship. So please you're welcome
and come back again tomorrow. If the Lord spears life,
we will be here. Let's pray, Father, thank you, Thank
you for this opportunity to get into your word together
and to experience your promises. Help us to believe you
in Jesus name. I pray, Amen and amen again the
(02:28):
law as God's promise for us now, it took a
lot of discipline for me not to run ahead yesterday
and we were talking about the different functions or the
uses or purpose of the law and not talk about
this because to me this is paramount. And I know
that we can't really rank it unless we use God's
(02:49):
ranking system, But for me, it's paramount because a lot
of people are still living with a judgmental mindset. I'm
talking about for our because all of us, in our brains,
the way that our brains are wired, especially following sin,
not especially with the reality of sin, we have a
(03:11):
judge that always pops up and tells us what we're
doing wrong, tells us that we're not good enough, tells
us that you got whoops, you missed the spot you
feel me like, And so sometimes it's appropriate, but sometimes
it's way overboard, and we have to learn how to
activate other aspects of our mindset that on the other
(03:32):
side of the coin that says, wait a minute, wait
a minute, here is the antidote. This is how we
can overcome that judgmentalism that we impose upon our cels
innately almost okay, And so we begin now in the
Bible Book of Romans Chapter three, Versus twenty to twenty
(03:52):
four twenty through twenty four, and the Bible reads, therefore
by the deeds of the Law shall no flesh should
be justified in his sight. That means that we can't
do God's law on our own. First of all, it's
not even possible. So even if you tried, you would
fail if you did it on your own. But okay,
so you try, you can't be justified by getting it
(04:15):
just right, because first of all, you can't do it
just right without him. That's the first problem. But on
top of that, even if it were possible, God wouldn't
give you brownie points or patch you on the back
and say, wow, now you're worthy of eternal life with me. No,
so no one can be seen just as if we
(04:35):
had never sinned by keeping the law. That's the cart
in the horse perspective is out of whack. Okay, For
by the law is the knowledge of sin. We said
that yesterday, so we know what sin is based on
the fact that the law identifies this for us. But
now the righteousness of God without law is manifested, being
(04:57):
witnessed by the law and the prophets. No, a lot
of words Let's keep going, even the righteousness of God,
which is by faith of Jesus Christ, unto all and
upon all them that believe, For there is no difference,
for all have sinned. Let's pause right here. Every human
being who has ever been born of a woman, except
(05:19):
Jesus Christ, has sinned and come short of the glory
of God. God has this high standard perfect obedience one
hundred percent of the time. Every human being who has
ever been born, no matter how is it ivf all
have sinned. Is it the natural way between a man
and a woman? The natural way all have sinned? If
(05:42):
anything they invent in the future, if we're here, how
don't know how many years into the future. If Jesus
delays his coming, that individual will come under the same
reality that all have sinned and comes short of the
glory of God, being justified Verse twenty four freely by
his grace. So God is saying, I'm going to empower
(06:02):
you once I give you that unmerited favor that says
I have mercy on you. Because you were born into
this thing, and your daddy was Adam, and Adam jacked
you up Adam Adam, Adam gave you an inheritance of
a desire to sin, the proclivity, the predisposition to sin,
(06:25):
came from Adam, your forefather. And so what I'm gonna
do is because of the second Adam, Jesus Christ, you're
adopted into the family of God. And therefore, if you
just yield your will to him, what we're gonna do
is give you power to do God's will. But the
submission comes first, The yielding comes first. The being humble
(06:48):
before God comes first through the Holy Ghost, and then
He begins to work his promises in your life. I'll
come back to that in a moment. Being justified freely
by His grace. Now you're seeing just as if you
had never sinned because of the grace of God, unmerited
favor and the power to do God's will through the
(07:09):
redemption that is in Christ. So we know that being
purchased from the devil, canceling all debts to sinning and
being the enemy's friend. I know what I just said.
Through that process, that blessing that Jesus is now we
can actually do God's will. This is the part that
(07:30):
a lot of teachers mix up. We make it seem
as if we cannot be successful spiritually, we make it
seem as if we will go to our graves if
we die or await the coming, where we're just falling
down getting up, falling down getting up. No disrespect to
the one who penned the lyrics to that we fall
down and get up song and just get back up again,
(07:53):
get back up again. A saint is just a sinner
that falls down and gets up. Like, I get the concept.
But there is a point that God is able to
keep us from falling. I'm just saying, if you believe
the Bible in the Book of Jude, I believe it
is in verse twenty four, the benediction says, now unto
him that is able to keep you from falling, and
(08:14):
to present you thoughtless before the presence with exceeding joy.
And then, of course the benediction continues, so God is
able to cleanse us and also keep us holy if
we choose to surrender our will to him. And so
Paul makes two points clear. The law cannot justify anybody.
(08:36):
We're clear on that the law can still teach, guide,
and reveal our what our need for the Savior. In
the SDA Bible Commentary, Volume one, page eleven oh five,
it reads the ten commandments are ten promises. We could
have gotten that straight out of the Bible, because God
(08:58):
said that he would write his laws in our hearts
and in our minds. He said he would take out
from us our heart of stone and put in us
a heart of flesh. That is the pliable one, that
is the receptive one, that is the living, moving one
that has the character of God stamped upon it. And
(09:19):
so the Law is not a ladder that we climb
in order to get to God. Ah, it's a mirror
that drives us to Christ. And once we are in Him,
it becomes a holy map for living. And so when
God gives us these ten commandments, but he writes them
in our lives, he says, I promise you that if
you love me, I will enable you to keep my commandments,
(09:43):
God's Law.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Peace. Friends, always remember we cannot live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
This has been your daily portion with el David Harris,
make it a great day. Yeah,
