Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words

(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker Elle David Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good afternoon, Good afternoon, Good afternoon. It is Tuesday, September sixteen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion.
This is where we continue to build with God's Word
every single day and today is no exception. We are

(00:53):
continuing in our Lesson study series through the Book of Exodus,
and our caption for today's lunchtime life Application experience is
please show me your glory.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
We did talk about that a little bit yesterday that
I might know you, but we're going in deeper. Okay,
And for those of you who are new and this
is like, WHOA, what is this going on? I see
the date two times on your platform. Don't hear about
this one on the radio? What is this? Well, we
don't have the time in the morning to apply what

(01:26):
we're studying in a way that I think is appropriate.
And so because we have the Your Daily Portion Life
Application Guide, which you can get at your Daily Portion
dot com, I said we would read through the guide
together during the lunchtime, and I want you to choose,
like one of the ways that you're going to apply,
what way are you going to really focus in on,

(01:48):
even though you can use all four, but today you're
going to focus on which one spiritual application, personal relationship
or professional Go ahead and type that in the chat
and then commit to that so the word becomes living
for you and not just the theory. Okay, So let's
go ahead and pray. Father, we thank you for this
day and for keeping us thus far in the day. Lord,

(02:11):
we don't take it for granted. Please please give us
understanding and help us to apply your truth today in
Jesus name, I pray, Amen and Amen again. Okay, So
we're going in for the spiritual application using the wind
acronym or framework. Do w what is important now? Spiritually
God's glory is revealed through his goodness and his character. Like,

(02:35):
there's no other way to experience the glory of God
except that he manifest himself visually or visibly to you. Okay.
And so since we are on planet Earth and God
said there shall no man or no woman see me
and live, we want to experience his character? Well, how
can we do that? Through prayer? We study his word,

(02:57):
we experience the ways that He has chosen to communicate
with people. I'm not gonna teach it. I'm really just
gonna again focus here on these application points. Internalize the insight.
When Moses asks to see God's glory, God showed him
his goodness, his mercy, his grace, his patience. Remember, God

(03:21):
was announcing himself the Lord, the Lord God, and I
said that this morning. I love that part, by the way,
and God is announcing himself by character attributes, and he
is showing him even in nature the power that is God.
And he continues with patience and love. And they are

(03:41):
the truest display of God's glory. The cross of Jesus
Christ is the ultimate expression of that glory. We live
in twenty twenty five. We don't have the limitations that
Moses had and so now we get to focus on
the cross of Jesus Christ and the fact that God
so loved the world that he gave his only begoten

(04:03):
son so we could have eternal life. When you focus
on the cross or the sacrifice of Christ, you are
not only seeing God's plan of salvation, but you are
seeing his very heart. I gave you the lyrics yesterday
of the near to the heart of God Him, and

(04:23):
that's what comes to my mind again. Next best move spiritually,
make it a daily practice to pause and reflect upon
the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Crosslet your prayers include
time to simply thank God for who he is, not

(04:44):
only what he does. Going on to the personal application,
what is important now your transformation flows from beholding God's character.
We're talking about personally, not just spiritually. Yeah, there are
four behavior styles that I like to focus on with
the flight assessment. Shout to doctor Eric Thomas and the squad.

(05:07):
And in those areas that we are mastering ourselves. We
are mastering ourselves in those areas that we're strong and
we are overcoming those limitations in areas that we have
gone too far in our strengths to where they become
manufactured limitations. God is transforming us even personally, and then

(05:29):
internalize the insight. The more you meditate on God's mercy
and sacrifice is the more your own life will begin
to mirror that goodness. God's character will be reflected in
your words. You see, these are the pragmatic things every
day we speak to someone, whether with our two thumbs
typing are actually hunting and pecking or typing old school

(05:52):
way with our keyboards. We're communicating in words and our
decisions and your attitude toward others. You know, you can
exude an attitude toward people that they can sense and
if that ain't right, they gonna know it. Next best move,
choose one area where you often struggle. You need to
be honest with yourself, where you often struggle to show

(06:16):
patience or grace. Need to realize that more than ninety
five percent of people don't even begin the journey of
what's called self awareness, and then the small percentage of
those who do are still not on the path of
actually doing something about it. So I want you to
be in the minority here and actually be honest with yourself.

(06:40):
Ask God today to help you display his goodness in
that area. You're a pass through a conduit relationships application.
What is important now? Your interactions should reflect God's goodness,
even toward those have to take a deep breath. He
who frustrate or hurt you. There are some folks that

(07:04):
really do frustrate me, or maybe I should say I
am frustrated by them. I don't know if they're actively
intending to frustrate me, but man, some ways that people
move are It's frustrating to me. But my intention should
reflect God's. Interactions should reflect God's goodness even in those
difficult situations. Internalize the insight. The way you treat others

(07:28):
becomes a visible reflection of whether you are truly beholding
God's character. There's so much going on that I want
to talk about, but I think it'll just be a
lightning rod for unnecessary debate. But listen by their fruits,
ye shall know them. There are a lot of people
on the Internet and on mainstream media talking about all

(07:49):
kinds of stuff, But what is the fruit of it?
Is it a visible reflection of God's character. Just as
God shows mercy to you, extend mercy to others. Oh,
God taught us how to deal with our enemies and
those who despitefully use us and abuse us and say
all manner of evil against us falsely for his sake,

(08:10):
like God has shown us how to deal with that
next best move relationally before any difficult conversation. And it
really doesn't need to be difficult, but we use the
word so Sister DEDI she says that there are no
conversations that are difficult, and I agree with her, but

(08:30):
sometimes we call it that. But let me just not
get too far into that. But before you get into
any of those kinds of conversations today, pray quietly, Lord,
let them see your goodness through me. And then professional application,
w what is important now? Even your leadership can become

(08:53):
a witness for God's character. Internalize the insight leadership marked
by grace. Yes, do you show people grace, fairness that's
biblical patience becomes an environment in atmosphere where God's presence
can be seen. Your example may be the only sermon

(09:14):
in air quotes that some people will ever witness. And then, finally, professionally,
what is your next best move in this lesson study?
Identify one leadership decision today where you can lead with
both truth and grace. Use that moment to reflect God's

(09:35):
goodness in your leadership style. If the Lord spaar's life,
we will see you in the morning where we're where
we'll actually study the lesson until then, Make it a
great day.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Pay for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
