Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning, it is Tuesday. It's
September sixteen, twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is Elle
David Harris. I am your host, and this is your
Daily Portion where we give you God's word every single day,
and today is no exception. We are continuing in our
lesson study series through the Book of Exodus under the
caption and don't be confused. I know we use it
(00:55):
the other day. Please show me your glory. We're going
to look at it more mostly today. Please show me
your glory. Before we get into that, I'd like to
just say welcome to you and ask you to go
over to your Daily Portion dot com if you've not
already done so, please join our online community, pick up
your Daily Portion life application guide and let us know
(01:18):
where you are in the world at your Daily Portion
dot com. This is one of the ways that we
continue to build faith and fellowship. Let's go ahead and
pray and then get under way. Father, thank you for
being willing to reveal yourself to us and through us.
(01:40):
In Jesus's name, I pray, Amen and Amen again. Straight
out of the lesson, after the Golden Calf apostasy, Moses
interceded for God's people and wanted to be assured that
the Lord would continue leading them to the Promised Land.
Deep down within his being, he also wanted to know
(02:03):
the Lord better. Do you want to know God better?
Do you want to know Him like we spoke about
this the other day, to know God?
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Like?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Do you really want to know God better? And then
as you know and learn to love Him more, are
you willing to be transformed by God? As you get
to know Him and are transformed by God? Are you
willing to represent God in your space? Good question. It's
(02:33):
a time of reflection, and so we go in to
this lesson straight at the beginning, at the beginning, at
the beginning, and the Bible reads here. The Bible reads here.
And he said, I beseech THEE show me thy glory.
And he said, I will make all my goodness passed
before THEE, and it came to pass, while my shall
(02:56):
come to pass, while my glory passeth by. That I
will put THEE in the cliff of the rock, and
I will cover THEE with my hand, and eye will
pass by. And again this comes on the heels of
the Great Apostasy, when Aaron is making excuses and God's
people are looking to break the law again by having
(03:18):
other gods before God. And so the purpose of the
request was not just for Moses to see God like
what would be the purpose of that in Moses's mind
in his physical form, but to know his inner reality,
his nature, his character, his presence and covenant faithfulness. Moses
(03:39):
wanted to know that God was with him every step
of the way. And so now we go to the
term for glory. Norman, I'm calling your name again, Norman,
are you listening.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
Ha.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
The glory term there literally means weight or substance. Like
when Moses is asking for God to reveal his glory
to him, he's asking for the weight uh and the
substance of God. He wants to be certain that as
(04:12):
clear as you're hearing my voice right now, or if
you're not able to hear, you're seeing the closed caption
for the hearing impaired, and you're able to sense when
someone is in the room with you and they're speaking
to you, and you can reach out and grasp their hand,
when you are in the vehicle with somebody and the
(04:33):
vehicle's but so big. I'm talking about your little car,
and you know your husband, your wife, your children are
in the vehicle. That plus more, God is manifesting the Kahbad,
the khbad, the glory, the weight, the substance of himself
in a way that Moses could actually experience in this
(04:54):
context that refers to the fullness and reality of God's being.
A I'm sure that God is with you. Do you
have the reality of the substance of God in your life?
I'm talking about right now, we're about five minutes into
our broadcast this morning. Are you sure in this moment
that God is with you? And if not, begin to
(05:16):
praise him. Begin to praise him because God said that
he inhabits the praises of his people. Jermaine I'm asking you,
and you know I'm talking to you, brother, like you
Jermaine A. I'm talking to you. Yeah, yeah, Begin to
praise him right now. Praise him like you don't. Got
(05:36):
no sense like you have, you have no barriers, no
filters in the way, because he said that he inhabits
the praises of his people, and you will experience the glory,
not just the brilliance, not just the brilliance of his
effulgent brightness, but of his moral perfection. And then he
said that his goodness would pass before Moses, and indeed
(06:00):
did this goodness from the term that is there in
Hebrew means moral excellence and generosity. This is what God
says will pass before Moses, revealing that his glory is
tied to his goodness and his grace. They go together.
(06:20):
His glory is tied to his goodness and his grace.
You see, you don't get to just be in God's
presence and then live like the devil after you've been
in God's presence. I hope you're listening to me this morning.
We don't get to just hang out in the space
we call the presence and do any little foolish and
(06:43):
evil thing that we decide to do. How many times
do people appear before the presence of God and even
say or faign that they are representing God as ministers
in worship, whether they're singing or somehow using instruments or speaking,
or teaching or serving in some way. And we don't
(07:03):
represent his goodness, we don't represent his grace. In that case,
we don't represent the glory. I'm promising you that this
is not a joke thing. Yes, we appear before the
presence of God, so that now the weight, the substance
of who God is goes with you. Take the name
of Jesus with you. I heard the hymn writer pen
(07:26):
and so from the book Acts of the Apostles, page
five hundred and thirty, we read, it is the glory
of God to give his virtue to his children. That's power,
that's his moral excellence. He desires to see men and
women reaching the highest standard. In the book Christ's object
(07:49):
Lessons page four hundred and fifteen, we read, his glory
is his character. And so God's response to Moses shows
that true divine glory is moral, but it's also relational.
It's all about relationship. It's not just about visual splendor.
It's not just something from which we shield our eyes
(08:11):
and say that the Son Blessed be his name of
righteousness is in this place, and we bow our heads.
Because sometimes people bow their heads and then peque with
one eye, and they're not really bowing. They're just wanting
to see who will see them, who is going to
see their false worship, and expect that somehow that is
going to magnify their own name. Look at how he's bowing,
(08:34):
look at how she is bowing. The light and the
majesty are real, but they are expressions of his goodness,
his mercy, and his justice. When God reveals his glory,
he wants to reveal it to you, yes, But more
than that, he wants to reveal it through you, to
(08:57):
where you become the revelation of Jesus Christ. I know
what I just said. I said to where you become
the revelation of Jesus Christ. The Bible says that God
wants you to let your light so shine before humankind
that they will see your good works and then give
glory glorify your Father, which is in heaven. And so
(09:20):
in conclusion and conclusion, we know that knowing God's glory
means knowing his character. If we seek God's glory, we
must be opening ourselves to his mercy, his justice, his patience,
and his love, and be willing to give that to
others so they too can know the glory of God.
(09:42):
Make it a great day, Peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah.
