Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good afternoon, and happy lunchtime. It is Wednesday, September seventeen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is Elle David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's word every single day, and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our lesson
study series through the Book of Exodus, and our caption
(00:55):
for this afternoon this is the Life Application Lunch and Learn.
If you want to say, is the self revelation of God.
We've been teasing some of that for the last couple
of days, but we're going to focus a little bit
more heavily here. And for those who are new to
this lunchtime program, this is not the lesson study that
(01:19):
we do in the morning five o'clock every single morning,
seven days a week Jamaica time. That's not this. We
are studying the lesson in the morning in fairly good
detail in the short time that we have. But am
I have sensed for years that church people have difficulty
actually applying the things that we learn, and so we're
(01:41):
doing that focus on only application, not the theoretical anymore.
And yes, go ahead and pick up your life Application
guide at your Daily Portion dot com. This is one
of the ways we continue to build faith and fellowship.
Let's pray, Father, thank you for this day and getting
getting us thus far into our work or whatever it
(02:03):
is that we have going today. Please make us faithful
and apply your truth in Jesus' name, I pray Amen
and amen again. All right, and so we're going straight
to the spiritual application. I want you to go ahead
and confess it like type it in the chat. Which
one of these key areas are you going to focus on?
You may focus on more than one, you could say
(02:25):
all but just please just make it a point not
to over extend yourself. I want you to choose one
of the four. Is it spiritual, personal relationship or professional
that you're focusing on today. Okay, so we start with
the spiritual w We're spelling the word win in all
of these key areas because we want to win in
(02:46):
God's sight that way. Okay, what is important Now, God
reveals his own character so we can understand who he
is and trust him. Okay, so that's the important focus
spiritually here, internalize the insight. Let it get all inside
of you. When God passed before Moses, he didn't only
(03:07):
reveal his power. He did reveal power, but more importantly,
this power was a revelation of his heart. This is
what God wants for us, his mercy, his grace, his patience,
his truth. We talked about that yesterday, and justice are
the core of his glory.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Now.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I know, Norman, you're probably teaching right now, but I
hope you're getting this glory. Come on, that's your word.
Come on, that's your principle, your experience, Norman. Come on, man,
this is the foundation of the covenant relationship. God wants
us to see his heart clearly, so that love and
not fear becomes the center of our obedience. Let me
(03:51):
just say, we cannot obey God from the heart. We're
talking about spiritually speaking through fear, but I know that
some people think we can, so that's why, of course
I wrote it that way. The next best move spiritually
speaking is during prayer. Hopefully you're praying multiple times a
day and living in an atmosphere and attitude of connection
with God on top of that. But during prayer, focus
(04:14):
specifically on God's revealed character. Thank him for each trait
He declared his mercy. So we thank God for your mercy. God,
we thank you for your mercy. We thank you for
your grace, and I want you to be specific with
God on those things. And then your long suffering are
your patience, faithfulness, forgiveness and justice personal application? What is
(04:38):
important now? Knowing God's character shapes your identity. Yeah. The
reason why some people behave like animals is because they
think they came from animals. I wish I had the time.
That is the problem. There are some people who consume
animalistic media on social media, on mainstream media, and on YouTube,
(04:59):
and that is why we behave the people who do that.
I shouldn't say we the people who do that. That's why.
So knowing God's character, we're talking about having an intimacy
with God. A relationship with God living according to His
character shapes our identity. Who am I is based on
this experience. Internalize the insight. When you know God as
(05:22):
merciful and forgiving, you do not have to carry shame
or condemnation. There are people who still are looking in
their rear view about all the things that they have done,
even in some of the paradigms related to overcoming substance
and alcohol abuse, and they're counting up. I've been clean
for this number of days, no shade, But why the
(05:43):
constant reminder of the thing. I'm a recovering fill in
the blank negative thing. I'm a recovering, fill in the
blank negative thing. I get it. But there has to
come a point in our understanding and our mentality that
we're no longer using the pitfalls and the things that
we've done wrong and we've been subject to that we're
(06:04):
not Godly as a reference point in all of our discussion.
So He is the one that helps us not to
have to carry the shame, not to have to carry
the condemnation. His faithfulness allows you to walk in confidence
even when you God forbid fall short. I should say,
(06:24):
if you fall short. His justice assures you that all
wrongs will be made right in his time. Next best move,
Next best move, right out. I'm talking about real pen
and pad or whatever you use electronically. Right out. God's
self description from Exodus, chapter thirty four. Read it aloud
(06:44):
daily this week to recenter your thoughts on who God
really is. Now we're jumping into relationships. What is important? Now?
Let God's revealed car influence how you treat others. You
(07:05):
get that how you treat others, internalize the insight. When
God describes himself as gracious and forgiving, he calls you
to extend the same grace to those who offend, fail,
or disappoint you. His mercy becomes your standard of mercy.
(07:25):
God doesn't want you to just be in awe of
his ability to be merciful. He said that those who
are merciful will obtain mercy. Next best move. Relationally, Identify
one strained relationship. Some of us have more than just one,
But identify one where you you have withheld grace. Be
(07:50):
honest with yourself. Take one step toward reconciliation, or release
the offense in prayer. Some people are imprisoned. Imprisoned in
our own minds, imprisoned in our own thought processes, always
thinking about what somebody did to us, how somebody failed us.
(08:15):
And what we want to do, beginning at this very moment,
is release ourselves from prison through forgiveness reconciliation if it's possible.
The reconciliation is contingent upon their decision, but forgiveness is
solely your decision. You can forgive these people, you can,
no matter what they've done to you. I could bore
(08:37):
you to death or depress you with the things that
people that were close to me have done to me.
I'm talking about the same kinds of abuses that you
have gone through, unfortunately, but at some point we have
to keep it pushing. Professionally, what is important now Your
leadership reflects who you believe God to be. Internalize that
(08:59):
insight professionally. Leaders who reflect God's character create environments of trust,
I said, creates those environments of trust, fairness, and safety.
Your decisions will carry both truth and grace when you
lead from His revealed heart. And then the next best
(09:20):
move in your next leadership meeting or client interaction consciously
apply God's character. Lead with clarity, with patience, and mercy
without compromising the truth. Well, I'm reading these to you
so those of you who are auditory or just need
some interaction online or whatever, can internalize and live all
(09:42):
of these principles. Peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Friends.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Always remember we cannot live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the mouth of God. This
has been your daily portion with El David Harris. Make
it a great day. Yeah,
