Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words

(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker Elle David Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning. It is Wednesday, September seventeen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's Word every single day, and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our Lesson
study series through the Book of Exodus, and our caption
for today is the Self Revelation of God. I said,

(00:58):
the Self Revelation of God. Before we get into that,
I'd like to say welcome to everyone joining us, especially
those joining us for the very first time. And let
me just say to those who are with me day
in and day out, great big thank you to you,
because it's for it's because of you that this gospel

(01:18):
is being preached into all the world for a witness
like this is what we're here for. So the end
will come. So we're looking forward to the day of
Jesus's return. But if if you don't continue to share,
if I don't continue to do my part, and people
like us around the world doing the same thing, then
of course that creates delay. Yeah, are you ready for

(01:42):
Jesus to come? Like I want to sing the song,
but I won't. Yeah, before we get into this, I'd
like to pray, and then we'll get underway. Father, We
thank you for revealing yourself. Please now reveal yourself through us.
In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen and Amen again. So

(02:03):
for the next several days we will continue to talk
about the character of God being manifest and then also
manifest through us, and for us to become students of
his character and submissive to his will. So his character
and our character completely link up. And so today we begin.

(02:26):
We begin by reading from the Bible Book of Exodus,
chapter thirty four and verse six, and the Bible reads,
and the Lord passed by before him and proclaimed the Lord,
the Lord, God merciful, and gracious, long suffering, and abundant

(02:46):
in goodness and truth. So God begins not only in
the way that I said several days ago, announcing his
character in a traditional sense, but even in his name,
we see the character of God, that he is self
existent and eternal. And yet he is willing to condescend,

(03:08):
the one who is near enough to us to hear
our groanings, as he said to Moses at the beginning
of this journey post Midian. Now he's in the journey
and delivering the people of God, et cetera. And so
through this God, who is powerful, all powerful, blessed be

(03:28):
his name, he's self existent and eternal, meaning there was
never a time in history that he didn't exist, and
no one created him. He has always been here all
on his own. That is Father's Son and holy ghosts.
And on top of that, he's willing to come close
to you and be merciful, and be gracious, and be

(03:54):
patient and long suffering, and he is abundant in goodness
and truth. At the same time, he loves you. He
doesn't clear the guilty, but he loves you. And when
we say guilty, we're talking about people who hold on
to our sins, because the Bible says, those who hold
on to our sins don't prosper, But whoso confesseth and

(04:18):
forsaketh shall have life. You see, But before I go
too far into that, God's glory is revealed through his character.
God revealed his glory not as the overwhelming power. There's
thunder in there, there's lightning, and then there's this manifestation,

(04:39):
but as the fullness of his love and mercy and faithfulness.
You see, he reveals all of this, but he doesn't
destroy anybody in the process. You understand, Like when you appear,
when a human appears before God. In reality, the Bible says,
God said it around the same time, there shall no

(05:00):
one see me and live like there is a fire
devouring before him. His character is so pure, his who
he is, his essence, And I'm trying to describe it
in a way that makes sense, Like his essence is
such that when sin appears in his presence, accept God, condescend,

(05:21):
accept God cover the sinner. Then that person bursts into flames.
I'm not joking, Like this is not some kind of melodrama.
I'm saying. The Bible says that there is a fire
that devours before him that when Jesus comes, those who
are not covered in his righteousness. The Bible says that
they that they will be destroyed because of the brightness

(05:45):
of his coming. That's before he does anything, you see.
And so I'm thankful that this powerful God is willing
to condescend and come to us and give us his
mercy and love and graciousness and be patient with us.
Vest time today meditating on God's attributes. I'm gonna say
this over and over again. Letting His characters shape your

(06:08):
thoughts and actions when you're interacting with people. Are you
long suffering? Are you gracious? Are you extending patience to people?
Are you demonstrating love? Are you in a new different
kind of way of saying it? Like Jesus was meek
and lowly in heart right, and you shall find rest

(06:30):
unto your soul. So if you are meek, that means
that you have power, and yet it's under control. So
power under control? Are you demonstrating that character reality when
you interact with people. Let's move on to verse ten
of Exodus, chapter thirty four, and the Bible reads and
he said, behold, I make a covenant before all thy people.

(06:54):
I will do marvels such as have not been done
in all the earth, nor in any nation, and all
the people among which thou art shall see the work
of the Lord, For it is a terrible thing that
I will do with thee. So God renews his covenant

(07:15):
with his people. But we're talking about with those who
are obedient. Now, Yeah, he's not playing around with sin.
He's not playing around when when humans decide that when
he is merciful, and he is gracious, and he is
an abundant and truth, et cetera, he still will in
no wise clear the guilty. And so God is extending

(07:37):
himself to say, listen, we can have a wonderful experience
and relationship, but please please don't take don't take my
love for granted, because at some point mercy will withdraw herself.
So God's promise to do marvelous works is tied to
God's people's commitment to actually do what he said to

(08:01):
keep his commandments. So examine your life today. I didn't
say try to have someone else do it. I did
not say go to a confessional booth and speak to
another human about it. I did not say call your aunties,
your uncles, your friends, your pastor, your bishop, your priest.
I did not say any of that. I said you

(08:21):
and God through Christ, and for Christ's sake. Now examine
your life through the Holy Ghost for areas of disobedience
and surrender them so that you can walk fully in
God's covenantal blessings, blessings come. If you read in Deuteronomy
chapter twenty eight through the first fourteen verses, you can

(08:41):
see how those who keep God's judgments and statutes and
his commands, how they succeed and excel. In fact, next
quarter we're going to talk about success. I think it's
in the first week through the story of Joshua. Yeah,
I'm getting ahead of myself. Okay. Now for number three,

(09:02):
we see in Exodus chapter thirty four and verse eight,
and Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the
earth and worshiped. And I'm like, well, what do you
think he would have done? When you have a close
encounter with Almighty God, Blessed be his name, the only
appropriate response is worship? Is worship? So true worship responds?

(09:29):
Or is the response? I should say it that way
to the revelation of God. Yeah, when God reveals his
goodness to you, just pause and worship before you do
anything else. Make it a great day. Peace.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
