Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words

(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to Your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:33):

Shining Face of Moses. Before we get into that, I'd

joining us for the very first time. Please go over
to your Daily Portion dot com. Please join our online community,

us know where you are in the world at your

(01:18):
daily portion dot com. This is one of the ways
that we continue to build faith and fellowship. Let's go
ahead and pray, and then we will get underway. Father,
Thank you, Thank you for giving us the brightness of
your glory in our lives. Please help us to reflect

(01:38):
this glory to the world. In Jesus name, I pray,
Amen and DayMen again the shining face of Moses. Let's
jump right into the Bible Book of Exodus. Hopefully you
have your Bible with you. Exodus chapter thirty four. Don't
just listen to me read. I want you to read
a long end. Listen Exit chapter thirty four, verses twenty

(02:02):
nine through thirty five, and the Bible reads. Now. It
was so when Moses came down from Mount Sinai, and
the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses's hand
when he came down from the mountain that Moses did
not know. Oh, I want you to just pause right

(02:24):
there in your thought. Moses didn't know, well, what didn't
he know? He did not know that the skin of
his face had shone while he talked with him. Moses
was in the presence of God to the degree that
he began to reflect the brightness of God. It was

(02:48):
like God was taking Moses back to the time when
Adam and Eve were covered in the light of God,
actual light, the before time of I was naked and ashamed,
and I hid myself. Before that, Moses was experiencing an
adnic brightness. This is the first time this ever came

(03:10):
to my mind. I'm talking about in this moment that
is not in my notes. As I pause with you,
when I said, let's pause, it clicked in my mind
that Moses was experiencing this and the people couldn't handle it.
We'll come back to that verse thirty and when Aaron
and all the children of Israel saw Moses behold the

(03:31):
skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to
come near him. Why were they afraid to come near him?
That's the first question. Like the Bible says that the
Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are
the children of God. Ah. There are times that we
have an encounter with God and the brightness of that

(03:53):
encounter is manifest, maybe not in this stark of reality,
but the fat is that we should be aligned with
the brightness of God. We shouldn't be afraid of the
brightness of God. I said, we should be aligned with
the brightness of God. But even the man of God, Aaron,
who should have been in the same space bright side

(04:18):
with God, he and the rest of the people, the
Bible says, were afraid to come near him. Why was
Adam afraid again? Why was he afraid again when the
light had dimmed for him? Why was he afraid again? Oh,
I think this is the same thing that's happening here
Verse thirty one. Then Moses called to them, and Aaron

(04:40):
and all the rulers of the congregations returned to him,
and Moses talked with them. Afterward, all the children of
Israel came near, and he gave them as commandments all
that the Lord had spoken with him on Mount Sinai.
And when Moses he had finished speaking with them, he

(05:02):
put a veil on his face. But whenever Moses went
in before the Lord to speak with him, he would
take the veil off until he came out, and he
would come out and speak to the children of Israel
what he had commanded. So now we can even see
a visual cue of where these messages really are coming from.

(05:25):
The Messages of God are coming through the brightness of God,
using in this case a human being, Moses. And whenever
the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that
the skin of Moses's face shone, then Moses would put
the veil on his face again until he went in

(05:47):
to speak with him. The shining face of Moses really
was a manifestation of the bright and effulgent, luminescent character
of God. Yes, I know it sounds like a thesaurus
this morning, but I need you to get it. Repetition
deepens the impression. And so our first lesson comes in
from Second Corinthians, chapter three and verse eighteen, which I've

(06:10):
already made allusion to. Really, and the Bible reads, but
we all with open face beholding as a glass in
the glory. As in a glass the glory of the
Lord are changed into the same image, from glory to glory,
even as by the spirit of the Lord. So when
we are having these kinds of encounters, and we are

(06:34):
surrendering our will to the God of this encounter, then
the radiance of God is to be revealed through us.
Let your light so shine, the Bible says, Hah before
human beings, so that when they see your good works,
they will glorify your Father, which is in heaven. And

(06:55):
so Moses's radiant face came from fully opening his heart
to the beauty of God, God's goodness. True change happens
when we focus on God's character and not just his power.
When we yield to his character, live your life within
me style, that is when we will be transformed. Yeah.

(07:18):
So the reason the children of Israel weren't experiencing that
is because they didn't believe. They were not believing. Ah,
they should have been transformed to but they weren't. They
should have been in the presence too, but they said, no,
you go in for us. God was welcoming all of
them and setting them all up to be a kingdom
of priests. Somebody just got that. It was never intended

(07:41):
to be some kind of exclusive reality for one person
or two people. It was supposed to be for the
entire nation of God's people, to be as radiant as
Moses was, to be as confident in the presence of
God as Moses was, and to be as meek and
lowly in heart as Moses was. So your action step

(08:04):
forward today in this regard is to invest, almost said spend,
but invest intentional time each morning, including today, contemplating Christ's life.
I said this to you a few days ago, and
character allowing the Holy Ghost to imprint. That's a big word.
Look it up. Imprint those qualities upon your heart's stamp,

(08:27):
those qualities upon who you are. Verse twenty nine of Exodus,
chapter thirty four of the Bible reads. And it came
to pass when Moses came down from Sinai with the
two tables of stone or testimony in Moses's hand, that
Moses didn't even know that the skin of his face
shone while he talked. So the closest to God, closer

(08:49):
we are to God, the more aware of our imperfections,
and yet they are also most ready to be changed
by His The closer I am to God, then the
greater my imperfections appear. And yet in that closeness, that
divine closeness, as I am submitting to God's will, as

(09:12):
you are doing the same, then we become receptive to
being changed. And let me just say, finally, in verse
thirty three of chapter thirty four, the people wanted him
to hide the brightness. Well, let me just say, God's
glory is meant to be reflected and not hidden. So

(09:32):
live in such a way that others can see God's
character reflected in your words, your actions, and your relationships.
Bright in the corner where you are. Peace.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
