Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too much,
because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy for
today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect yesterday's
portion of heavenly manna the word of God to keep
us through today's challenges. On this program, we are going
to change all of that. Let's experience God's words today
(00:23):
and receive the power we need to live healthy, vibrant lives.
Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning. It is Sabbath, September twenty,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's Word every single day, and
today is no exception. We are continuing in the final
week of our Lesson study series through the Book of Exodus.
(00:56):
We were journeying from Exodus straight through to the Promised
Land under the caption the Tabernacle. The Tabernacle. We'll get
into that in just a moment, but first I'd like
to say welcome to everyone joining us, especially those joining
us for the very first time. Please go over to
your Daily Portion dot com. Please join our online community
(01:18):
and also let us know where you are in the
world at your daily Portion dot com. This is one
of the ways that we continue to build faith and fellowship.
Let's go ahead and pray. Father, we thank you for
this Sabbath day and thank you for giving us the
privilege that you will tabernacle with us. Please help us
(01:39):
to get the fullness of this experience and live like
people who are in your presence. In Jesus name, I pray,
Amen and Amen again the tabernacle, the tabernacle, So the
Bible reads here in Exodus chapter forty Exodus chapter forty,
Versus thirty four and thirty eight, the cloud covered the
(02:02):
tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the Lord filled
the tabernacle. Do you want the glory of God to
fill you? Do you want God's brightness and his character
to fill your life to the point that it overflows
and leaks from and radiates from your life into the
(02:24):
lives of others, so that others are transformed because you
are now something that like it's a hopeful situation when
they see you, because they're like, Okay, if God can
do that for him, if God can do that for her,
then God can do it for me. Is that what
you want? That's what I desire every day. For the
(02:45):
cloud of the Lord was above the tabernacle by day,
and fire was over it by night. Is God leading
you in the daytime? Is He leading you by night? In?
And the site of the house of all of Israel
throughout all their journeys, and so the presence of the
(03:08):
Lord is here. I think you can hear the song
as I am saying it. The presence of the Lord
is here. And are you submitting to God's will so
that this presence is a welcome scene, a welcome sight,
something that you're saying, God, live your life within me, please? Yeah. Yeah.
The principal task, according to the lesson writer, of God's
(03:28):
people in the Old Testament, as well as for us today,
was to live in close relationship with the Lord, to
worship and serve him, and also to present the right
picture of God to others, as according to Deuteronomy, chapter four,
verses five through eight. It's our privilege today. So we've
(03:51):
already read, we've already read from Exodus forty verse thirty four.
So what do we get there? God's presence dwells among
his people no, the feed did not break. The broadcast
is still going on. I'm asking you to let that
settle in God's presence dwells among his people. So God
(04:15):
chooses to be near to his people, I said, chooses
to be near to his people and not distant. You
see the one who is fully holy one hundred percent
of the time, in an absolute sense, throughout all eternity,
in the past and in the future, Blessed be, his
name has condescended so that we could even visually see
(04:38):
his presence, a presence, an aspect of his presence that
still was still transformative or transformational, as the case may be.
And so every single day it is our privilege to
go into the space where God has designed for us
through prayer, speaking to God as to a friend, through
(04:59):
his whole li word those sixty six blessed books, where
He speaks to us his thoughts and his hopes for us,
and his commands to us. And when we are in
his presence now also going out into the world to
shine his lights, to be his hands and feet. When
they were hungry, he said, he wants you to feed them.
(05:21):
When they were thirsty, he wanted you to give them
drink and talking to me obviously as well, when people
needed a hand up or a hand out. I know
what I just said. Sometimes you don't want to give
people handouts. Well, sometimes people need handouts. Sometimes if somebody's hungry,
you have to hand it out to them, hand out
the food that they need. They need a hand up, Well,
(05:42):
you want to teach them how to fish, rather than
giving them to fish. I get it. As God gives
you grace and understanding for the particular situations, become that, yes,
become all things to all people, that you may save one.
This is what Paul said. This is what Paul said.
So he wants to be near to his people. He's
(06:02):
chosen to be near to his people, not distant, showing
that his presence is central to their journey and identity.
They're not going into the Promised Land without his presence.
They're not going to do that. And who's the day anyway?
The only people that are going into the Promised Land
are God's people, the surrendered people of God are the
(06:25):
only ones going into the Promised Land. Well, we know
the end of the story now, so we realize that
Aaron didn't go in, Moses didn't go in, and the
people of God that I don't know how many millions,
was it two million, was it three million, three million adults?
I don't know, But it was a whole lot of
people that were of the age above twenty that came
(06:47):
out of Egypt. All of them died in the wilderness,
except Joshua and Caleb. So God gave them his presence.
He showed them that he was with them, and he
manifests his character and so such a way that they
could become like him. And yet so few of them
got in two out of millions of that first generation.
(07:09):
Where do you stand? Where do you stand?
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Right?
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Make the space in your daily life to be aware
of God's presence and not just be aware of his presence.
We've already talked about prayer, We've already spoken of God's Word, etc.
And worship and obedience so His glory can be seen
in you. Ask God, really, Lord, will you just be
be yourself through my life? Can I become a prism
(07:35):
of yours? And we already know that He is saying yes,
But please, God, give me the strength to surrender now.
In Deuteronomy chapter four, verses seven and eight, the Bible reads,
for what nation is there? So great God is speaking
about you. Come on, if you're surrendering your will to him,
who hath God so nigh unto them as the Lord
(07:58):
our God in all things that we call upon Him for.
And what nation is there so great that hath statutes
and judgments so righteous as all this law which I
set before you this day? Now there are people who
want to declare that there are a nation, a Christian nation,
(08:21):
or a nation of godly people, but don't adhere to
the true nature of the law of God, love for
God and love for humanity. Sometimes people just constantly trumpet
and announce that we are a nation of holy people,
of believers, or whatever term people will use, and don't demonstrate.
(08:44):
Don't demonstrate the brightness of the law that God has
entrusted to us and the compassion that God has shown
us through his dear son. And somehow we can still
feel like we can trumpet that. Well. Well. The actions
is to live so that your actions, your words, and
(09:04):
your priorities reveal God's kindness, fairness and love to everyone
you encounter. Don't talk about it, just be about it.
Be about it. And then finally, God takes the first
step to restore broken relationships. I just said something really loud.
I trumpeted it to you because we trumpet the concept
of being a holy people sometimes and we're not in reality. Well,
(09:28):
God doesn't leave us that way, though. He doesn't leave
us that way. And the same way that He went
in search of Adam and Eve and he said to Adam,
where are you? He really wanted Adam to know where
God was so that Adam could come out of hiding
and be covered by God.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends, Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,
