Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, good morning. It is Sabbath. It's
the twenty seventh day of September in twenty twenty five. Hello,
my name is El David Harris. I am your host,
and this is your Daily Portion where we give you
God's word every single day, and today is no exception.
We are continuing. Actually we're beginning our new lesson study series,
(00:54):
Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and our caption for today
is Recipe for Success. Recipe for Success. I am so
happy that you're here, and welcome to everyone joining us,
especially those joining us for the very first time. I'm
asking you to go over to your Daily Portion dot com.
(01:16):
Please join our online community. Also, let us know where
you are in the world at your Daily Portion dot com.
This is one of the ways that we continue to
build faith and fellowship. Let's go ahead and pray and
then we will get underway. Father, thank you for this
new Sabbath morning and for the opportunity for us to
(01:37):
move into deeper into the story of how you led
your people in the past and how we can get encouragement.
We can get encouragement for how you will lead us
in the future. Help us not to forget. In Jesus name,
I pray, Amen and Amn again. One thing that I
(01:59):
really appreciate about this series of thirteen weeks of lessons
for those who are new to the study. We go
thirteen weeks at a time and we study all kinds
of principles from the scriptures. But for the first time
that I can recall in recent past, and my mind
baby failing me on that we are continuing a story.
(02:22):
So the people of God were being delivered as God
heard their voice, they heard their moanings. He knew that
they needed to be delivered from captivity in so many
different ways, and we saw that journey under the leadership
of Moses. Okay, and now we continue the discussion and
(02:42):
journey under the leadership of Joshua, who came or picked
up the mantle from Moses. And so we begin with
the recipe for success. Let me ask you a question,
what is your recipe for success? I talk about success
a lot in my business, a lot about it. What
(03:05):
do you consider to be success? It could be in
your spiritual lives, It could be in your relationships or
in your personal development. What do you see as success
in your professional lives? And so the Bible actually gives
us a model of success, a model for success in
(03:26):
the context of our study, right from the Bible Book
of Joshua, chapter one and verse seven. Now, I want
you to listen to this keenly, not in a way
that you just get excited, or not in a way
that you're like, Okay, yeah, I've heard this before. But
I want you to forensically break this one down strategically.
(03:47):
If you were to build a model for success based
on this text, how would you diagram this? How would
you map it out? And the Bible reads, only be
strong and very courageous. This is the first word that
God is giving to his servant. Only be very courageous.
(04:09):
That you may observe to do all. So be courageous, strong,
observe to do all according to the law which Moses,
my servant, commanded you. So we're starting to see the
blueprint here. Do not turn from it to the right,
(04:30):
Do not turn from it to the left, that you
may prosper wherever you go. And so in just a
few words, we see a blueprint for success, or the
blueprint for success, and we see the outcome in just
a few words, let's break down this recipe that God
(04:50):
has given for success. First of all, the term to
be strong. To be strong means to be firm and steadfast, resolute.
Do not allow anybody to get you off your square.
I want you to look down and see yourself as
standing on a two foot by two foot square. And
(05:11):
there is where your calling is. There is where God
has determined that you or from the vantage point that
God has said or prescribed that you would work. This
is the way that you impact people. This is the
way that you impact processes. This is the way that
you impact protocol or the law. This is the way
(05:31):
that you deal with problems. God has called you to
be a certain way in this world. But be strong,
stay in your square, It's not that God is boxing
you in. It is, in fact, though, that if you
were a tool in a toolkit, then God created you
to be that tool in order to serve the function
(05:51):
of that tool. If you are a screwdriver, you're a
Philip said, screwdriver, then you are not a hammer. If
you are a hammer, then you are not a jef.
You understand where I'm going with this. If you are
a jackhammer, you are not a tape measure. God has
called you a certain way, and he wants you to
be firm and steadfast to his calling. Okay, and then
(06:14):
be very courageous. See God said, according to the definition
of the term, to be bold, to be determined. This
is what he's telling his servant, after he has seen
a whole generation of people fall by the wayside. Be determined.
Do not be daunted, Joshua, do not be daunted. I
(06:36):
know that what you have in your past, or what
you've seen God's people go through, could get you down
if you allow it. I'm saying, don't let it get
you down. Be resolute, be bold, be determined, do not
be daunted. And then the word law. God said, to
observe and to be careful to do sam shamar. That
(06:58):
means to guard and keep and watchfully obey, don't miss
a spot. Joshua, I'm gonna give you the blueprint, Joshua.
Do not say, oh, it's not a big deal if
I have revealed it to you, Joshua. Let me just
say something to the people of God in twenty twenty five.
There are times that God has given us resources and
(07:20):
writings and inspiration. Some of you know where I'm going
with this. And when God gives you, let's just say,
he sends a prophet to you. He sends a prophet
to you. Maybe you're King David hah, and the prophet
that he sends to you is Nathan. If you were
to say that God, I don't need Nathan because the
(07:40):
Bible already says don't commit adulterree. Oh wait a minute, David,
but you did commit adult tree and so you in
your unrepentant state, David, King, David, I'm sending Nathan to
arrest your mind and your progress for the moment so
that I can get you back where on your school,
so you can be strong and resolute. You see. And
(08:03):
so when God gives you writings, he gives you the
truth in a way that you needed in these last days.
Do not say I don't need that, because God knows
your due, That's why he gave this. Let me continue,
be watchful and obey fastidiously what the law to rah
that instruction that teaching God's revealed will go back to basics, Joshua,
(08:29):
go back in twenty twenty five, God's people. Don't be
so creative that you have forgotten the fundamentals of God's
truth and you've turned it into something all complicated and
flowery and flamboyant. It's like, God, you have already given
us some truth, the truth in the word. Help us
(08:49):
to watchfully obey that word, those instructions that teaching god
Your revealed will and then don't turn turn not. That
word actually means to turn aside or to veer off.
Neither to the left, neither to the right. Do not deviate,
and then the outcome will come. You will be successful, Sakaw.
(09:12):
That word in Hebrew means to act wisely and have insight, prosper,
have insight that leads to success. So when he says
you will prosper, Joshua, when you will prosper God's people
in the last days. You will be successful wherever you go,
(09:35):
and I'm grateful that God has given us the recipe
for success through the lens of Joshua. Are you listening, peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,
