Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too much,
because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy for
today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect yesterday's
portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to keep
us through today's challenges. On this program, we are going
to change all of that. Let's experience God's words today
(00:23):
and receive the power we need to live healthy, vibrant lives.
Welcome to Your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, good morning. It is Thursday. It
is October two, twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is
El David Harris. I am your host, and this is
your Daily Portion where we give you God's word every
single day, and today is no exception. We are continuing
in our lesson study series Lessons of Faith from Joshua
(00:53):
under the caption Prosperous and Successful, prosperous and successful. Before
we get into that, I'd like to just say welcome
to everyone joining us, especially those joining us for the
very first time. Please go over to your Daily Portion
dot com. Please join our online community, pick up the
Your Daily Portion Life application guide, and also let us
(01:17):
know where you are in the world at your Daily
Portion dot com. This is one of the ways that
we continue to build faith and fellowship. Let's go ahead
and pray. Father, we thank you for this day. We're
asking you to make us successful and prosperous in your way.
In Jesus name, I pray, Amen and Amen again. You know,
(01:41):
sometimes people get unnecessarily confused and become unnecessarily argumentative because
they don't like the way words come out, Like you
don't like words? And I know it sounds super simple,
like what are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Day?
Speaker 2 (01:58):
The reality is sometimes people will say you or somebody
comes from that preacher, that elder, that leader, that bishop, whatever,
is a prosperity preacher. And it's like, okay, well what
does that even mean. I'm not saying I don't know
what people mean by it, but we can't throw words
in the dumpster or in the dump because people misuse them, okay.
(02:23):
And so the Bible gives us the blueprint for prosperity.
The Bible gives us the blueprint for success. The question
is when we are teaching it from the scriptures, isn't
indeed and in fact from the scriptures? Is it God's
method of prosperity. We know it's not about self, like
it's never been about self. But God made Joseph prosperous.
(02:46):
Everything that he touched was prosperous in his hands. Yes,
we see that everything that that uh job involved himself
in was prosperous and successful, even through trials and tribulations.
I could go down through the Bible, but I'm not
trying to convince you of anything. I am encouraging you,
(03:06):
in fact, to just believe the Bible. And so again,
what does it mean to be prosperous and successful? If
you're a good teacher or mentor or coach, you ask
the right questions, and coming in from the Bible Book
of Joshua, chapter one, beginning of verse seven, we see
the right answer, and the Bible reads, only be thou
strong and very courageous, that thou mayest, observe and do
(03:31):
according to all the law. The Bible teaches us that
the baseline, as I said the other day, is to
keep the law as we receive God's strength right that
thou mayest what prosper wherever you go, Joshua. So God
is promising Joshua prosperity. Don't be afraid of the word.
(03:52):
We just need to know what the Bible means. Here
verse eight, this book of the law shall not depart
out of thy mouth. You want to be prosperous, Lets
God's words be in your life, in your mouth, under
the covenant, as a part of the warp and woof
of your heart. Okay, then thou shalt make thy way prosperous.
(04:15):
He's giving us the blueprint. Then thou shalt have good success.
We don't have to be paupers. We don't have to
be unsuccessful. We don't have to be reliant upon other people.
In fact, in Deuteronomy chapter twenty eight, the first fourteen verses,
God gave us the complete blueprint of what he would
(04:35):
do if we keep his commandments, his statutes, his judgments
close to our hearts, in the ways that He would
bless us and give us his good success. Verse nine.
Have I not commanded thee be strong and of good courage?
For the Lord thy God is with thee, whethersoever thou goest.
(04:55):
Don't run out ahead against God, don't go out ahead
of God. In Jenah this chapter twenty four, we also
see in verse forty, and he said, unto me the
Lord before whom I walk will send his angel with
thee and prosper thy way. In Isaiah chapter fifty three,
in verse ten, the Bible says, yet it please the
(05:18):
Lord to bruise him speaking of Christ. And the pleasure
of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. And so
Jesus experienced and demonstrated how it is to prosper. In
Psalms chapter one, verses one through three, the Bible reads,
and I'll paraphrase, blessed is the man that walketh not
(05:41):
in the council of the ungodly verse two. But his
delight is in the law of God. And he shall
be like a planted tree by the rivers of waters.
And whatsoever he do with shall Here comes the p
word again, prosper. And so in so oh, God has
given us ahead of time. The blueprint for prosperity is
(06:06):
remaining as close as possible to God. It is doing
what God says by faith. And that word, that word
for prosper in all of those passages that I read,
comes from the Hebrew word Salac Salac. This word always
refers to God enabled God focused success, not self made prosperity.
(06:34):
Don't be afraid of prosperity. So many things I could say. Obedience,
according to Deuteronomy chapter twenty eight, verses one and two,
leads to blessing. In John fifteen, verse five, the Bible says,
apart from me God speaking in Christ, ye can do nothing.
(06:55):
The Bible says in Romans chapter eight and verse twenty eight,
all things work together for the good of those who
love God, the ones who are called according to His purpose.
And so from the book Education, page one hundred and
thirty eight, some of you old timers, right, some of
you more seasoned and mature people were waiting for this one.
(07:18):
True success in any line of work is not the
result of chance or accident, but of God's blessing on
the right purpose. God prospers the right purpose, Yes, the
right effort. God prospers the right effort and the right direction.
(07:41):
The one who leads you if he is godly, if
she is godly, if it is God himself with no
human in between, that is the right direction. Don't be
afraid of success, don't be afraid of prosperity. Okay, And
so the Bible teaches us so many different ways to
(08:04):
look at this. Let me go to spiritual success spiritual
success is not defined by how many people applaud you.
I'm on this thing every single day, radio stations all
over the world, on the internet, right on podcasts, etc.
I got it. That is not the definition of success.
(08:27):
How many people applaud yous, how many people say that
you're a blessing to them. That is not the definition,
but by whether you're living in alignment with God and
his word. And then, of course, personally, strength and courage
come from time in scripture, not in self confidence. I
(08:49):
invest the time to meditate upon the law both day
and night, as King David said, yes. And then in
our relationships, when you walk in God's presence like Abraham's servant,
he will order your steps in every relationship. And finally,
in the professional sense, God prospers those who steward their assignments.
(09:12):
I said, their assignments according to His purpose. Even if
the results don't look impressive according to the world's standards,
God will prosper you. So many action steps. Let's just
give you one or two. Start and end your day
with God in his word. Number two, walk with God
(09:35):
intentionally in your daily tasks. And then, of course, redefine
success to match God's purpose. Make it a great day peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Friends.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Always remember we cannot live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the mouth of God. This
has been your daily portion with El David Harris. Make
it a great day. Yeah,
