Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to Your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning, it is Monday. It's
October six, twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El
David Harris. I am your host, and this is your
Daily Portion where we give you God's word every single day,
and today is no exception. We are continuing in our
lesson study series lessons of Faith from Joshua, and our
(00:54):
caption for today is value in Unexpected Places, Value in
unexpected Places. Before we get into that, I'd like to
say welcome to everyone joining us, especially those joining us
for the very first time. Please go over to your
Daily Portion dot com. Please join our online community, pick
up the Your Daily Portion Life application Guide, and let
(01:18):
us know where you are in the world at your
Daily Portion dot com. This is one of the ways
that we continue to build faith and fellowship. Let's go
ahead and pray and then get underway. Father, We thank
you for this day and for showing us that it
has never been about us, It's always been about You.
(01:39):
Please transform our hearts so that we will not be
comfortable with yesterday's successes. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen
and Amen again unexpected places. Well, let's go ahead and
jump in with different lessons that I have learned from
today's study. And the first one comes in from the
(02:02):
Book of Joshua, chapter two and verse eleven. The Bible reads,
for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven
above and in the earth beneath. I'm going to read
it one more time, for the Lord your God, he
is God in heaven above and in the earth beneath.
(02:24):
And so the first lesson, based on our passage in
Joshua chapter two, beginning at verse two straight through to twelve,
is that true allegiance belongs to God alone. In twenty
twenty five, it is becoming more and more critical for
us to learn what Rayhab had learned, that God is
(02:49):
the only true and living God. You see Rayhab having
the life. I don't like calling her a Harlot. Her
life was a life of harlotry. She did do things
that harlot's do. But now we see that she is
a child of God. She's a child of God who's
recovering from doing the things that displeased God. She is
(03:12):
not to be called by the name of what she
had been doing. You are not a thief. Maybe you
steal God forbid. You are not a criminal. You maybe
have done criminality, And so I want you to separate
from yourself the title of the things that have happened
(03:32):
to you. There's some things that have happened to you
in abuse, like people have abused you in certain ways.
There are some evil things that you have done. Don't
call your name those evil things. I understand the way
that it was translated in the King James version, but
that's because that's the way the people spoke at the time.
But the point is that Rayhab, now, the child of
(03:55):
God who did in the past harlot like activities, now
is recognizing and publicly confessing that Yahweh blessed be his name,
not the idols of Jericho was the one, true and
living Gods. Now, some of you think I just use
(04:16):
fancy language. I wish I had the time to deal
with what impression. Calling ourselves by a name leaves on
our understanding, leaves on how we come into the world.
Do you understand? So call yourself by the reality of
where you're going. Let me just continue these. This shows
that the allegiance to God sometimes requires turning away from
(04:41):
the culture. I say sometimes because sometimes the cultures are
doing what God wants, very few, but still sometimes requires
us to turn away from traditions, has required us to
turn away from all of those things that we have
known and values that we grew up with. Here's the
(05:01):
action step. Identify one area in your life where your culture.
Is it Jericho, is it Brooklyn, New York?
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Like?
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Is it a country in Saudi Arabia? Like I don't
a city in Saudi Arabia, I don't know, But wherever
it is, Identify one area in your life where culture,
or expectations or habits compete with God's authority. Surrender that
area to him in prayer today. The second lesson comes
(05:32):
in from the Book of James, chapter two and verse
twenty five, and it reads likewise, also was not Rayhab,
the Harlot justified by works when she had received the
messengers and had sent them out. Another way, faith must
be expressed in action. God is interested in our action,
(05:54):
so who we are comes out or is manifest in
how we act what we do. I'm talking about when
the rubber meets the road. And so her confession of
faith was proven by her courage to hide and protect
God's people. Faith that remains private is incomplete. True allegiance
(06:16):
expresses itself through risky obedience. Shout to Lisa a Smith
like she talks about radical obedience. The action step is
look for one solid or concrete way to live out
your faith in action today, whether it's through service or
witness or sacrificial love. And then the final lesson on
(06:38):
this one comes in from Hebrews chapter eleven and verse
thirty one, and it reads, by faith, the Harlot Rahab
perished not with them that believed, not when she had
received the spies with peace. God's grace values faith. And
when I say that, yes, she lied, I wish I
(07:01):
had the time to deal with that. Yes, there are
things in her history, her recent past that God does
not approve of. But in this moment, now there is
this twinkle, this measure, there is a mustard seed seed
sized faith that she's now acting upon, and God is
(07:24):
about to move a mountain. Do you have a mustard
seed sized faith where God is needing to move mountains
in your life? Is it in your health? Is it
in relationships with people in your family? Is it something
that's going on at work, or maybe you're unemployed and
you just really are having enough. Now you've had enough,
like you need God to do something well in Reyham's life.
(07:48):
Even though she was deeply flawed, God saw that twinkle,
that mustard seed sized faith, and he preserved her. Her
story proves that God, God seeks allegiance above the perfection.
When we are first coming into faith with God. He's
not looking for us to generate in our own selves
(08:10):
the ability to do everything that God says. He is
saying that I'm going to cover you. Now. There is
no condemnation for those who are covered by God right,
who walk not according to the flesh but according to
the spirit.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Right.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
So God is saying that as we begin to walk
by faith, he covers us and he teaches us along
the way how to actually live the way that he
called us to live. He's calling us holy and he's
teaching us to walk as holy people. Her story proves
(08:44):
that God is seeking this and that his grace can
redeem anyone who turns to him in trust. So what
is the action. Don't disqualify yourself. Stop that. Stop disqualifying
yourself because of your past failures. Thank God for valuing
you through faith above your flaws, and walk in the
(09:05):
confidence of His grace. Am I saying that God doesn't
care when we do the wrong things? Let me just
say it straight from the scriptures. The Bible does teach us,
my little children, these things write ie unto you that
ye sin not. And if anyone sins, now we are covered.
We are covered in the righteousness of Christ. We have
(09:26):
an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous. And
so as we are growing, or as people we know
are growing, we have to thank God for the fact
that He is covering us. Make it a great day, Peace.
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Always remember we cannot live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the mouth of God. This
has been your daily portion with el David Harris. Make
it a great day. Yeah,
