Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning, it is Tuesday. It's

get into that. I'd like to just say welcome to
you and ask you to go over to your Daily
Portion dot com. Please join our online community. Please pick
up your Daily Portion Life application guide. Let us know
where you are in the world at your Daily Portion
(01:15):
dot Com. This is one of the ways that we
continue to build faith and fellowship. Let's go ahead and pray,
and then we will get underway. Father, we thank you
for this day. Please please help us to serve you today.
In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen and Amen again. New allegiance,
(01:37):
new allegiance to whom or what do you pledge your allegiance?
I remember when I was in school, back in the
early eighties and late late seventies and early eighties, when
we got to school, there was a time before we
went to classes where the whole school would line up
and we would have to pledge allegiance to the flag
(01:59):
of the States of America and to the Republic, for
which it stands one nation under God, indivisible with liberty
and justice for all. But we also pledged allegiance to
the flag, I think, to God's Holy Word. We pledged
allegiance to God's Holy Word. And I can't remember how
(02:21):
we would do that. And so the question again is
not what do you recite or just say out loud,
but what is your real allegiance? To what or whom
are you pledging your allegiance? And so the Bible, the
Bible teaches us that in the story of Rehab, she
(02:42):
learned to pledge her allegiance to God. Okay, and so
in Exodus chapter twelve, beginning at verse thirteen, the Bible reads,
and the blood shall be for you a token. Do
you remember that way back at the passover time? Shall
be a token upon your or houses where you are.
(03:02):
And when I see the blood, that's your allegiance. When
I see the blood. See, God had given them guidance like,
this is the way that you will distinguish yourself from
people who don't love me, from people who have decided
to worship other gods. You will distinguish yourself by the
blood from people who don't care about love, who don't
(03:25):
care about connection with Me. And so you will pledge
your allegiance by showing the blood in the certain way
that God had prescribed. And then I will pass over you,
meaning the death Angel will pass over you. And so
the blood in Egypt and the scarlet cord in Jericho.
Because some of you are like, well, why are we
going back there? Yeah, because the same way that God
(03:48):
showed in Egypt his people to pledge their allegiance, he
showed Rahab, I want you to hang a scarlet chord
and when the marauders, when the people come through, maybe
that's not the word, but when the men of war
come through, they will not destroy. They in fact will
save because they see the scarlet or red chord. And
(04:08):
so the blood in Egypt and the scarlet chord in
Jericho both point to Christ's sacrifice. That's what it's really about.
They prefigured this deliverance always comes through His blood and
not our own works. And so the action step because
knowing stuff is cool, but doing what God says is
(04:30):
what we're really after. Trust daily in the covering of
the blood of Jesus for your salvation, not your own goodness,
not the things that you do in obedience to God.
Even when you do the right thing, don't expect like
I did the right thing, so you owe me something
That is not how this works. God empowers us to
(04:53):
do his will because we are saved. The people who
are not saved cannot do his will. Can I just
say that I would had the time to deal with this,
But people who are not saved cannot actually in heart
do his will. There are actions that they may manifest,
but that's not the same as doing it from the heart. Yeah,
(05:14):
lesson number two coming in from Joshua, chapter two and
verse twenty one. And she did it like she bound
the scarlet line in the window. She did exactly what
the people had told her. God's people told her the
sign of her faith would be. And so faith must
be expressed in obedience, not just knowing, not just knowing.
(05:36):
Even when I was a child, there was a cartoon
Gi Joe, and I remember they said knowing is half
the battle, and then they would go into the song
that was attached the anthem attached to the program knowing
is only half the battle. But once we are empowered
by God and know to do his will and then
(05:58):
actually do it, now we see the manifestation of our faith.
And Rehab's faith was visible. Just as the people of
God obeyed by applying the blood of the lamb, Rahab
obeyed by tying the scarlet cord. Both acts show that
true faith is demonstrated or manifest or seen in action.
(06:22):
Each says execution is worship. When we execute, when we
do what we have promised, what we do, when we
do what God has said, that is a manifestation of worship.
And then the action for this is let your faith
leave a visible mark, whether through service or witness or
(06:45):
obedience in another way to God's word. And then final
from Hebrews chapter eleven and verse thirty one, the Bible reads,
by faith, Harlot rahab perish not with them that believed not.
She didn't perish with the people that she had been
with probably her whole life, if not most of it.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
She had been with them and even sinned with them,
and probably worshiped other gods alongside them. But in this moment,
the seminal moment in her life, when the people of
God were coming through, and she said, you know what,
my life before is not the way I want to continue.
This is not the way I want to see this end.
(07:28):
And I don't want my family to lose our connection
because of the way that we have been living. And
so she seized the moment. What moment are you in,
brothers and sisters, right now, almost eight minutes into the broadcast,
what moment are you in? Has God given you the
opportunity to turn away, to turn away from your former
(07:51):
life and turn toward him? Grace reaches even people who
have been living against God. You're in entire lives, our
entire lives. Grace God's grace is greater than all our sin.
And so make sure you see the moment a Canaanite
woman under the ban was grafted in to God's people
(08:16):
because of her faith. The gospel message that good news
of God transforming our lives through Christ. That message is
that no one, no one is so far gone if
they are willing to submit their will to God, too
far gone if they cling to God's promise. And so
(08:38):
the action step is to see yourself and others through
the lens of grace. Invite someone who feels disqualified to
trust in Christ to do it beginning today. How many
times have you heard from people, or maybe you were
one of them, and said, no, but you don't know
how I am. You don't know how far gone I am.
You don't know all that I have done. And the
(09:01):
reality is God does know. That's the whole point. That's
the old point. That's the whole point. One of my
favorite authors says that when the devil comes to you
and presents your rap sheet basically the things that you
have done wrong, right, and then presents to you that
you are a sinner, you are to say, yes, I
am a sinner, but Jesus came to save sinners. I
(09:26):
think this is a good place for us to land
this plane new allegiance. Pledge your allegiance to God in
this moment today and yesterday is gone, Tomorrow is not
yet here. In this moment you pledge your allegiance to God,
and you will be saved. Make it a great day, peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah.
