Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words

(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning. It is Sabbath, October eleven,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's word every single day, but
today is no exception. We are continuing in our Lesson
study series lessons from Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and

(00:54):
our caption for this Sabbath morning is Memorials of Grace.
Memorials of Grace. God wants us to remember the great
things He has done for us, remember what He has
done for those who came before us. Before we get
into that, I'd like to welcome you and ask you
to go over to your Daily portion dot com. Please
join our online community and also let us know where

(01:16):
you are in the world at your daily portion dot com.
This is one of the ways that we continue to
build faith and fellowship. Let's go ahead and pray. Father,
we thank you for this Sabbath morning and for giving
us the privilege of coming together in this way. Help
us to remember, Help us to always remember how good
you have been. Remember how good you've been in our lives,

(01:40):
in our ancestors lives and the lives of the people
of God from ancient history. Father, please teach us not
to fear in Jesus name. I pray, Amen and Amen again.
Do you ever count your blessings? I think that's a song.
Count your blessings? Do you ever count them? Do you
put a list down? Some times? And talking about literally like,

(02:03):
write a list God, this is the way that you
blessed me today. Wow, look at this way that you
blessed me today. Look at this list. Oh, this is
fifteen things, this is twenty things. Yesterday it was seventy
two things. Do you write down and count your blessings
and go to God and give him thanks for what
he has done. The fact that you can open your
eyes if you are able to open your eyes, if not,

(02:25):
the fact that you're able to listen, and if you're
not able to listen, but you're able to see the
closed caption for the hearing impaired for this program. Whatever
it is that God has done for you, have you
counted those made memorials of God and his blessings and
his grace? Well, the Bible actually gives us an interesting

(02:47):
reality here in the Book of Joshua, chapter four, and
beginning at verse twenty three, for the Lord your God
dried up the waters of the Jordan for you until
you passed over. You see, they're making a memorial. They
are remembering what God did for his people as they
crossed the Jordan. But wait a minute, something happened even

(03:09):
before that one just as miraculous. Wait a minute, as
the Lord your God did the Red Sea. So now
the children of Israel, those who were twenty years or
younger in age, except for Joshua and Caleb, during the exodus,
they are now remembering how God delivered them over the Jordan,
and how he delivered them and their parents over the

(03:33):
Red Sea on dry ground. And the Bible continues, which
he dried up for us until we passed over. God
didn't let it get wet. He did not allow the
waters to come down and drown some of the people
because they were at the back of the line. No,
he let them go over on dry ground until every

(03:53):
single one of God's people passed over, And then he
let the waters go in the time of the Red
Sea and destroyed and destroy those who were running after them.
But let me continue so that all the peoples of
the earth may know that the hand of the Lord
is mighty. Are you asking God to do great things

(04:15):
in your life for his name's sake? That's a real
life question. Type it in the chat. Do when you pray,
do you say, God, will you do this thing for
your name's sake? Do you do this for your name?
Say for your name's sake, Lord, do this for me, please,
so that you can become a testimony of God, a

(04:37):
memorial for lack of a better way of saying it,
in the earth, where we can look back at your
life and say, this is the way that God has
been mighty. And the Bible continues that you may fear
the Lord your God forever. Have respect for God. Have
respect for God. He's worthy of this respect. This respect

(05:02):
is the word I use, not this. Okay, So let's
get some takeaways very quickly this Sabbath morning from the
same passage. We can start with the same passage, the
same two verses. I won't reread them. And now we're
going to couple it with a quote from the book
Testimonies for the Church. Whoops, let me go back life sketches.

(05:24):
That's what I meant to say, page one ninety six.
We have nothing to fear. Somebody was waiting for this one.
We have nothing to fear for the future. Okay, you
don't have a reason to fear for the future. You're
wondering what's going to happen in politics wherever you happen
to live. You're trying to figure out what's going to
happen in the world where the weather patterns are concerned,

(05:48):
or some things that you understand from prophecy, and it's
causing anxiety for you, or you're thinking about something that
you have to face at work or in some other way,
and you're you're fearful. Well, I'm reading here under inspiration.
We have nothing to fear for the future, except as
we shall forget the way the Lord has led us

(06:09):
I just read a few experiences the people of God
had as he delivered them through the Red Sea, through
the Jordan River on dry ground and destroyed those who
were God's enemies as they were pursuing them. And He
had given them so much land and so much booty,
and so much of the treasure of the people who

(06:32):
did not love God. So we need not to forget
what He has done. Did he deliver you when you
were in a complicated pregnancy, sister? Did he deliver you brother?
When you were in a relationship you shouldn't have been
in and your mind was off and you were doing
things out of character based on that brokenness in that relationship,
and God delivered you. Did he deliver you son? Did

(06:53):
He deliver you daughter from whatever that thing was that
was happening at school that you felt like you couldn't
tell your parents. We have no fear for the future,
except we shall forget the way the Lord has led
us and his teaching in our past history. So I'm
grateful that God has given us way marks in the

(07:14):
past that we can measure and say, God, since you
were so good, then I know that you will be
good today. Lesson number two forgetting leads to danger. The
Bible reads, only take heed to thyself that and keep
thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine

(07:37):
eyes have seen, and less they depart from thy heart
all the days of thy life. From the Book of Deuteronomy,
chapter four and verse nine, and so. Another quote to
support that from the book Testimonies for the Church, Volume five,
page two hundred and thirty three. We must not forget God.
She just shot straight to that one, like we're not

(07:59):
even talking about just his movements. I shouldn't say just
but his movements, she said, don't forget God. He is
our strength. Is God, your strength, brother, is God, your strength, sister.
He is our support, our shield, our exceeding great reward.
He will guide us safely through even every peril if

(08:23):
we only trust in him. Don't trust in your paycheck,
don't trust in your boss. Don't trust in those contracts
you have, those invoices you've sent out. Don't trust in
your healthy lifestyle, as if there is no way that
something can go wrong if you do do exactly as

(08:45):
you should. In twenty twenty five where your health is concerned,
there is some danger scene and unseen that can still
snuff your life out. Do not trust in your ability
to memorize scripture, but trust in the God of the scripture.
You understand so so God will guide us safely through
every peril if we only trust Him, not our stuff,

(09:07):
not our thoughts, not our whatever. And then and then
from Luke twenty two and verse nineteen, just a little bit,
this do in remembrance of me. Of course, the memorial
of the Last or the Lord's Supper. I should have said,
the memorials point to Christ. Do these in remembrance of me. Right,

(09:28):
the Cross of Christ will be the science and song
of the Redeemed throughout all eternity, and Christ glorified. They
will behold Christ crucified. From the book Great Controversy, page
six fifty one, make memorials of grace.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with el David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,
