Let's go ahead and pray and then we will get underway. Father,
Thank you, Thank you for this day and for the
opportunity to see ourselves beyond the Jordan, to see ourselves
(02:25):
in victory, see ourselves in a position of power because
you are all powerful. Blessed be your name. Now, please
help us to live that way in Jesus name, I
pray a men and a man again. And so we begin.
We begin by simply reading from the book of Psalms,
(02:46):
chapter sixty six, and we will read verse six Psalm
chapter sixty six, and we will read verse six, and
the Bible reads he turned the sea into dry land.
Aren't you glad that God, the same one who created
the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that
(03:07):
in them is has the ability And really that's understating
the power of God, but he has the ability to
turn what he created into anything else that he decides
for his glory and for your benefit. He turned the
sea into dry land because it was a barrier to
(03:27):
the success of the people of God. When I say success,
I'm talking about spiritual success, separation from the bondage that
they had lived in and the mindset of bondage that
they had become so accustomed to that they were lackadaisical
in every possible way. And God is saying, if I
can deliver you from Egypt, I can also get you
(03:51):
into the Promised Land. All you need to do is march,
surrender your will to me, march, turn away from your sins,
turn toward my judgments, my statutes, my judgments, and you
will arrive safely. And the Bible continues. Then when they
(04:11):
went through the river on foot, there we will rejoice
in Him. And so we see that there is rejoicing
on the other end of victory. There's rejoicing on the
other end of doing what God says. The way of
the wicked is hard. But when we surrender our will
to God, even though we will go through trials, even
(04:34):
though God forbid. But sometimes we make errors in judgment.
God forbid. Sometimes people jump into sin or fall into sin.
But if we will just go through with God, then
we will come through to rejoicing. So going beyond the Jordan,
and so our first lesson for today, our first lesson
(04:56):
is that God transforms our transition into testimonies. And so
the crossing of the Red Sea and the Jordan River
in that next generation were more than a physical movement.
Of course, you can go over now. It was miraculous
how they went over, but it was it wasn't only
(05:17):
that they were divine transitions marking the freedom and the promise.
God had made a promise to Abraham that he would
take God's people into the land of promise, and he
is also accomplishing it. Yes, the first generation of freed slaves,
(05:39):
they did die, apart from Joshua and Caleb, who were faithful. Yes,
they went through trials and tribulations. Yes, it could have
I know a lot of people say forty days, but really,
at my count, it could have taken them eleven days.
Quite frankly, by a certain route, they could have gotten
into the promise in eleven days, and it took them
(06:01):
forty long years and a loss of an entire generation
simply because they did not believe, simply because they did
not do God's will from the heart. And so God
is saying that if you will just turn from your sin,
turn toward Me by the power of the Holy ghosts,
and march according to the path that I have shown you,
(06:22):
then you will be free. You will receive the promise.
Each step across dry land was a declaration that God
not only delivers from bondage, but also delivers into purpose.
So if you can hear the tread of the people
of God, can you imagine millions of people, more than
(06:43):
one million, likely more than two million in the three
million range of people, men, women and children marching on
dry ground. Oh my goodness, keeping in lockstep because God
is orderly, Because behind the arc of the cove must
be order. That ark of the covenant represents the presence
(07:04):
of God. And all of these people are moving. And
there is a declaration which with each tread of the
steps of the people of God, that He's delivering them
not only from something, but into what he had promised.
And that is God's divine purpose. When we walk through
life's Jordan's new beginnings, uncertain seasons, he transforms them into
(07:31):
memorials of His power. What meaneth these stones? Well, we
know that God has delivered his people. Don't forget children,
don't forget. And so our actions step for today is
to reflect on a major transition in your life where
God is leading you, and write one sentence that begins,
God brought me. See, we are focusing on God, not
(07:53):
on ourselves. God and not ourselves. God brought me across.
And now I want you to fill in the blank.
It's almost like that counting of your blessings. Count them
one by one, named them one by one, meaning what
has God done for you? God brought me across, and
then keep it as your own memorial of his faithfulness.
(08:14):
You can write them down as those stones that remind
you that God has been good. We have no fear
for the future, except we forget how God has led
us in the past. Our second lesson comes in really
quickly from Matthew Chapter three, Verses sixteen and seventeen, where
(08:35):
the Bible says, in Jesus when he was baptized, went
up straightway out of the water, and lo, the heavens
were open done to him fast forward, and the voice
from heaven saying, this is my beloved son, in whom
I am well pleased. And so at another point in
the Jordan experience, at Jordan, Jesus began his public ministry.
(09:00):
In what we call the New Testament, it is recorded
that Jesus began his public ministry through baptism, marking a
turning point from hidden preparation to visible mission. His baptism
obviously was not for repentance, because Jesus never sinned, but
it was an identification of the purpose that God had
(09:23):
set in this life so that we could be saved
from our sin. And so the Jordan represents spiritual renewal.
And it's cool to look back, but really today is
your day to renew your commitment and walk in obedience
and if you agree to walk with God type of
(09:43):
yes in the chat right now.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
