Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words

(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning. It is Friday, October seventeen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's Word every single day and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our Lesson
study series lessons from Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and

(00:55):
our caption for today is remembering God's lessons, bring God's lessons.
Let's go ahead and pray and then we will get underway. Father,
We thank you, Thank you for giving us the opportunity
to open up your word. Thank you for bringing us
into this place of worship. Please give us your guidance

(01:16):
now in Jesus's name, I pray Amen and a man again.
There is so much to say and so little time.
I have given you this quote over and over again,
but let me just say it one more time that
we have nothing to fear for the future except we
forget how God has led us in the past. And

(01:40):
let me just read now from the book Testimonies for
the Church, Volume one, page six hundred and nine, which reads,
the people of God in modern day are in danger
of forgetting God and being led into idolatry. Yeah, yeah, yeah,

(02:01):
then we're the ancient people, so we're more in danger
in twenty twenty five than the people of God thousands
of years ago. Many idols are worshiped, even by professed
sabbath keepers. If you're a sabbath keeper type in the
Chat Sabbath Sabbath, go ahead and type in the Chat

(02:25):
Sabbath if you are a sabbath keeper type in the
Chat Sabbath. And so even among us, even among us,
there are things that we worship in place of God,
Lord help us. God especially charged his ancient people to
guard against idolatry, for if they should be led away

(02:46):
from serving the Living God, Blessed be his name, his
curse would rest upon them. At this moment, we need
to be praying. We need to be saying, God, will
you please deliver us from ourselves? If you, God forbid,
are worshiping anything. Is it a relationship that you love
so much and you're holding on to and God is

(03:08):
saying to let go of? Is it a thought process
that you have a poverty mindset? You are God forbid,
You're proud, you think of yourself more highly than you
ought to think. It could be anything. You could have
fatalistic thoughts thinking at every moment, around every corner, you're
spooked by every sound, rather than knowing that the Angel

(03:31):
of the Lord in campeth round about those who serve
and love God. Yes, God says something about you and
you say the opposite. That can be an idol. You
may be looking at your social media posts and your
ability to share on WhatsApp, and all you can think
about is clicking that share button, when in the moment
maybe you should be praying, is that an idol? Well?

(03:53):
If they should be led away from serving God, his
curse would rest upon them. While if they would love
Him with all their heart, with all their soul, and
with all their might he would abundantly bless them in
basket and in store, and would remove sickness, oh my,

(04:17):
from the midst of them. Oh Lord, help us to
remember you. Please help us to remember you. And so
we're going for a few lessons this morning before we
come to a swift close on this preparation day. From
the Book of Psalms, chapter seventy seven and verse fourteen,
the Bible reads, Thou art the God that doest wonders.

(04:38):
Thank God for this. Thou hast declared Thy strength among
the people. So what I want you to do is
record those quote Jordan Crossings. Yeah, those Red Sea crossings.
But I want to go to the Jordan crossings because
that's right before we get into the promise. Write down
how God has opened the way for you when it

(05:00):
seemed impossible, and share a testimony to encourage others. I mean,
in real life, there are people with whom you exercise,
There are people with whom you work. You are traveling
in a taxi today, you are on public transport in
a bus, you are standing at a bus stop, you
are doing a ride share, as in some countries where

(05:21):
there are three or four people that you really kind
of don't know. But because you can get into that
high what is it hov lane, that high occupancy vehicle lane,
so you can go faster. Now you have people in
the car with you, and if the Lord shows you
how it is in that moment that you can share
like man, I was going through this certain thing, but

(05:43):
God delivered me and I passed through, and I'm thankful
because God is the one encouraging us to share our
testimony and our lesson. Number two comes in from Deuteronomy,
chapter eight and verse two. It reads, and thou shalt
remember all the way which the Lord thy God led
thee these forty years in the wilderness. I've been alive

(06:08):
much longer than forty years, but forty years is more
than half of my life time. And I'm thinking, but
God's people traveling that long, and this generation who were
twenty years and younger when they came out of Egypt,
they have forty years of record of how good God
has been. How many years of record do you have?

(06:28):
Is it ten years? Is it fifteen? Is it twenty?
Is it fifty something? Is it one year? Is it
since yesterday when you gave your life to God? Like
whatever period of time you notice that God had been
leading you. I want you to remember this and create
a personal and family memorial somehow. I want you to

(06:51):
remember these moments by reflection on answered prayers, deliverance, protection.
Did He protect you this morning in a way that
you noticed? Yeah, we pray sometimes protect us from dangers
seen and unseen. Yes, And to keep gratitude and dependence

(07:13):
upon God alive in your mindset. In your mindset, it
all begins in your mind. The Bible says, as a
man or a woman, as the case may be, as
a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. I remember,
I think it was Ronnie Vanderhorst in nineteen ninety four.
I remember him saying, Yes, I do remember nineteen ninety four.

(07:36):
I remember him saying, we are not what we think
we are, our perception of how we are, but what
we think. Pause for a moment. What is in our mindset?
What are the things upon which we dwell? We are?
We are not what we think we are, but what
we think we are. So we are a composite of

(07:59):
our mindset things upon which we dwell. Yeah. Our lesson
number three comes in from Exodus, chapter thirty one and
verse thirty three. Verily my Sabbaths, ye shall keep, for
it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations. Hmm. Yeah.
The Sabbath stands as a weekly reminder like we're coming up. Well,

(08:23):
some of you are already there, but here in Jamaica,
we're coming up on the Sabbath in just over twelve hours,
probably about thirteen hours from now. And it is a sign,
It is a memorial. It is a reminder of both
creation and redemption. The same one who created you is
the one who is recreating you, who's making you. Why

(08:44):
every single day it calls us to rest in God's
finished work in our lives, like we see those things
that are not as though they were, Like He gave
us eternal life. Whatever we commit to him, he is
able to complete it in us as long as we
continue to surrender and look forward to his eternal rest.

(09:07):
Meaning when we get to heaven that is the beginning
of the clock toward eternity. We'll be there for a
thousand years. And after the thousand years are finish, God
will keep that promise that he made many places, but
in Matthew chapter five, in particular, that the meek will
inherit the new Earth and so we thank God for that.

(09:27):
Every Sabbath connects memory with hope, past miracles with future glory. Yes,
thank God. And if you're going to be with us
this evening at seven for our musical teaching through this
lesson study type A, yes in the chat, We'll see
you there if the Lord space.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Friends.
