Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Vibrant lives.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning. It is Sabbath, October eighteen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's word every single day, and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our lesson
study series Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and our caption
(00:54):
for today is the conflict behind all conflicts. Let's go
ahead and pray and then we will get to underway. Father,
We thank you for this new Sabbath morning. Please help
us to live like people who know that the Angel
of the Lord and campeth round about us. Please teach
us faithfulness this Sabbath morning. In Jesus' name, I pray
(01:17):
a man and a men again. Let me just say,
if you were with us last evening and you enjoyed
the musical teaching style worship, just go ahead and type
of one in the chat, type of one in the chat.
If you enjoyed the musical style worship last evening, type
of one in the Chat. As we jump into Joshua
(01:38):
Joshua chapter ten and verse fourteen. Joshua chapter ten and
verse fourteen, let me just say that in music we
see the controversy between God and Satan a live and
in living color, as in the story of David and
King Saul, where Saul was being buffeted by an evil
(02:03):
spirit and the Man of God with his heart and
whatever other way that he came in. With the music,
we know that holiness came into that space and the
enemy had to move from there. And so the text reads,
and there was no day like that before it or
after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of
(02:27):
a man, for the Lord fought for his people. The
Lord fought for his people. Has God ever fought for you?
That's what I want to know. Has God ever fought
for you when you were feeling depressed in the night
season and you didn't know how you were going to
(02:48):
get through. I'm talking about at nighttime you're supposed to
be sleeping, you cannot sleep, and you're being awakened by
all kinds of thoughts. Has God fought the battle for you?
When you're employer was saying and doing things you know,
I don't know is it because of co workers, because
of something else, and you didn't agree with it and
it was troubling your mind. Has God fought for you?
(03:10):
That's what I want to know. Has God fought for you?
And of course the answer for me is absolutely, And
I'm hoping that you can see how God has fought
for you. And so our first lesson, our first lesson
comes in from Exodus chapter fourteen, which is an echo
of the verse we just read, The Lord shall fight
for you, and you shall hold your peace. God's actions
(03:34):
in Joshua show that he is not a distant observer.
See in the beginnings days of our church, there were
some people creeping in who were deists, and those individuals
made it seem as if God created the heavens and
the earth, he furled it out or is that a
word he flung it out into the universe and then
(03:56):
said all right, well, yeah, let me know how that goes.
Of God being the personal God who is knowing all
that is going on on planet Earth and is interested
in every detail, collects your tears in a bottle, can
hear your groanings, and is listening for your praise when
you come through trials, or when you know that God
(04:18):
is with you as you are coming through your trials.
The Bible is teaching us that He is not a
distant observer. He is the Lord of hosts who fights
for his people against the enemy. The battle for Canaan
was not just a military conflict, It was really moral
and spiritual. The Bible says that we don't wrestle against
(04:40):
flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and the
rulers of the darkness of this world, in spiritual wickedness
in high places. And so God is teaching us that
our weapons of warfare are not carnal, they are spiritual.
They are holy to the pulling down of everything that
would get in the way of God's glory in his
(05:02):
people's lives. And so God's warfare was a confrontation with
the devil that opposed his covenant and holiness. And so
what I want you to do intentionally is, when faced
with battles that are larger than you. I almost said
(05:23):
that seem larger than you. When you're faced with battles
that are larger than you, pause and acknowledge that the
Lord fights for those who trust him. Mm I can
hear the him in my mind. Only trust him, Only
trust him, Only trust him. Now He will save you.
(05:44):
He will save you. He God will save you. Now
rest in his strength and not your own. These are
not your battles, brothers and sisters, they're not. They are
for the Lord. Our lesson. Number two comes in from
Revelation chapter twelve. Appropriately so chapter twelve, verses seven through nine.
(06:04):
Chapter twelve, verses seven through nine, and it reads, and
there was war in heaven. You see, war didn't begin
on planet Earth. You thought war started down here. And
I can think of some places right now, war theaters
where it's hot. The battle's been hot even since Abraham
was alive. Those war theaters still hot today in twenty
(06:25):
twenty five. You think it started down here? Nope, It
says that the war was in heaven first. And Mike
Kay yel, Jesus Christ, I wish I had the time,
and his angels fought against the devil or the dragon,
and the dragon and his angels fought. The Bible teaches
us further that God had to kick the devil out
and his evil angels. Yeah, those angels that would not repent.
(06:51):
The devil who would not repent had to go. And then,
of course down here is where he is for the
time being before God destroys him. Yeah. So the action
step is that we should view challenges through a spiritual lens.
You get a flat tire at an inopportune time, Yeah,
it's a natural occurrence. But you think the devil is
(07:11):
not at work. Come on, I'm not asking you to
be paranoid. I'm just saying know that this stuff is
happening because we live on an evil planet. You have
an ache, you have a pain, you have an ailment.
You think it's just because it is No, just a psichgo. No,
the devil is alive and unfortunately, well he is as
a roaring lion seeking whom he made devour. But thank God,
(07:35):
let me just hear you virtually by typing in the chat.
Thank God that the true lion of the tribe of
Judah is in position at all times. He is delivering
and protecting his people. Instead of focusing on visible opposition,
recognize the unseen forces of God in his holy angels.
(07:58):
He will give his angels charge over for you, Hah,
to keep you in all your ways. Less at any
time thou dasht foot against a stone. Recognize these forces
and stand firm in God, in prayer, and in faith.
And the third lesson for this Sabbath morning comes in
(08:18):
from the Book of Psalms, chapter one hundred eight and
one hundred and three Pardon me and verse eight. The
Bible reads, the Lord is compassionate and merciful. You should
be thankful because he's compassionate. He is merciful, he is
patient and demonstrates loyal love. Let me go back to
(08:38):
the King James version. The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. I'm grateful. I'm
grateful because I wasted a good number of years of
my life. I wasted let me see twenty two years
of my life. I mean you could say, you know,
when I was between age, you know, months and one
(09:01):
or two or three that didn't count. But let me
just say, in my humanity, there was a lot of
waste all the way until I said yes to Jesus
when I was twenty three years of age. And it's
been thirty years since then. No regrets, I thank God,
no regrets, and so I'm grateful for his mercy. I'm
grateful for his mercy. So the action for you this
(09:23):
Sabbath morning is to trust God's timing and wisdom when
you cannot understand his methods. His justice always flows from
his love, even when the battle seems severe. If you
are thankful, yes, I'm gonna ask you to type it
in a chat. Say thank God with me. I say
thank God. Make it a great Sabbath, Peace, Thanks for
(09:45):
joining us listening.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
Friends, Always remember we cannot live by bread alone, but
by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
This has been your daily portion with El David Harris.
Make it a great day. Yeah,
