Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words

(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker Elle David Harris.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, Good morning. It is Sunday, October nineteen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's word every single day and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our lesson
study series Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and our caption

(00:53):
for today is Commander of the Army of the Lord.
Commander of the Army of the Lord. Let's go ahead
and pray and get underway. Father, We thank you, thank
you for this time that you've entrusted to us. Please
command our lives and please continue to take up for us.
Continue to protect us. God, Please in Jesus name, I pray,

(01:17):
Amen and Amen again. And so we begin our lesson
study from the Bible Book of Joshua, chapter ten and
verse fourteen. We're jumping in. We're jumping right in Joshua
chapter ten and verse fourteen, where the Bible reads, and
there was no day like that before it or after it,

(01:41):
that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man,
for the Lord fought for his people. For the Lord
fought for his people. And so and so let me
go to Joshua chapter five and verse fourteen. And he said, nay,
but as of the host of the Lord, am I

(02:02):
now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the
earth and did worship and said unto him, what saith
my Lord to his servant. What I need you to
do is realize that Joshua encountered the commander of the
Lord's army. He was face to face to what we

(02:24):
believe is the pre incarnate Christ, meaning before Jesus took
on human form, before he took on human form, and
he gave his life for us. We believe that in
this moment, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, back in the days
of Joshua, appeared. He appeared to Joshua, and he is,

(02:47):
of course the true leader of the heavenly hosts. We
have no indication that there is some angel in heaven,
a Sarah or Cherabim or Cherub. We have no indea
that any of them are the leader of the hosts
of heaven. But Jesus Christ is Let me just continue.

(03:08):
So the battle of Canaan wasn't just the people of
God's fight. It was part of the greater war that
we call the Great controversy, the war between good and evil.
God himself in the flesh, God in the flesh stood
before Joshua. Maybe I shouldn't have said in the flesh,

(03:30):
God himself, as he somehow condescended to Joshua. He was
standing right there with him, confirming that the victory is
not by human might. Can I just say, not by
mike nor by power, but by the spirit of God.
Can I say that the Lord fights your battles? Can
I just say, don't wait till the battle is over.

(03:52):
You can shout now, because we know in the end
we're gonna win. When the commander of the Lord's army
is on our side. And the Bible continues that he
is confirming that victory is coming through the divine presence.
And as we read again, As we read again, now

(04:13):
Joshua having this encounter with God, is saying, what seth
my Lord unto his servants? So what I want you
to do? I remember reading from a book that was
written in the eighteen hundreds that we should practice the
visible presence of God. I'm saying knowing that at all
times we are in God's presence. So recognize Christ as

(04:36):
the true commander of your battles. Are you battling with
your own mindset? Christ is the commander of that battle.
Are you battling with pains from things that happened to
you when you were a child? God and Christ is
the fighter and commander of your battles. Are you struggling

(04:57):
with something that someone said to you and it's replaying
over and over in your mind and it's limiting you.
God in Christ is the commander of your battles, So
submit to his authority. It's very simple. Submit to his
authority before seeking his power. Have you gone to God

(05:18):
seeking his hand and saying, God, I need you, I
need you to do a certain thing. I need you
to act in a certain way. On my behalf. Have
you first sought his presence? Though? Have you first submitted
yourself to his authority, saying you're the Lord of my life,
and not just asking him for favors like some people
in that fairy tale Santa Claus concept leaving cookies for

(05:42):
the guy who's sliding down the chimney in the red suit. Huh.
And the little ball on the back of his hat
in the knapsack that supposedly is watching you while you're sleeping,
and he knows when you're awake. Apparently, according to the
fairy tale, this is not the way God is. What
we need is to suit. It's simple, yield our will

(06:03):
to God and he will give us his power lesson
Number two comes in from tewod Kings, chapter six and
verse seventeen, and the Bible reads, and Elisha prayed, Yeah,
we've seen this before. And Elisha prayed and said, Lord,
I pray thee open his eyes. So there was a
servant that did not understand that those armies down there,

(06:27):
those armies down there are powerless against God. Please open
his eyes, open his eyes that he may see. And
the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and
he saw and Behold, the mountain was full of horses
and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Do you realize

(06:47):
that when you are resting in your bed, when you're
awake and moving around in your home, when you are
on the road doing whatever it is that you do,
as long as you are surrendered to God, that you
have a retinue of angels. You have angels who excel
in strength. I don't know if they have horses and chariots.
I don't know. All I know is the angel of

(07:09):
the Lord in Campeth round about those who fear God,
who love God, as in the story of Elisha and
that servant, And so live with the awareness. I want
you to be aware. I want you to know at
all times, when you're thumbing through those videos on your phone,
while you're watching me online or listening on the radio,

(07:29):
whenever you're doing at work, the conversations that you're having
when someone whoops is gossiping, Ah, whenever you're in church
experiencing worship in a congregational sense, and when you're in
that space where nobody else is. I have a little
studio here nine foot by five nine foot by six foot,

(07:51):
and it has a steel door and of course block
and rebar and sound equipment and materials. If I close
the door, God is still in here with me. So
whatever I do, whatever I think, whatever conversations I have
with clients, or if I ever have time for conversations
with friends by telephone or on the Internet, then I

(08:14):
need to know that God is present. He's present, and
he's of course wanting us to pray with faith, knowing
that God's forces surround and sustain you. Lesson number three
and final coming in from Exodus, chapter fourteen and verse fourteen.
In another place, God said this, the Lord shall fight

(08:36):
for you. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye
shall hold your peace. There are times that God doesn't
need you to speak. He has no desire for you
to speak. He wants you to just hold fast and
be quiet, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord.
You don't have to defend yourself. You don't have to
give a reason for what you are or are not

(08:58):
going to do. There are times that God just wants
you to hold fast and watch him work. Before the
strategy of battle came the posture of worship. You see Joshua,
he fell on his face, he removed his sandals, He
acknowledged God on holy ground. God's presence is the first

(09:20):
step to victory. You need victory in your life. You
need victory over those things that you don't want to
mention right now. Ah. Then worship is the first step.
The wars of life are won when the heart bows
before the commander of the heavenly host, the commander of
the universe. Begin every battle with worship. HM. Make it

(09:42):
a great day. Peace.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with el David Harris, make it a great day.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
