Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too much,
because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy for
today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect yesterday's
portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to keep
us through today's challenges. On this program, we are going
to change all of that. Let's experience God's words today
(00:23):
and receive the power we need to live healthy, vibrant lives.
Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning. It is Wednesday, December three,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's Word every single day, and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our lesson
study series Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and our caption
(00:53):
for today is the True Joshua, the anti type. So
we've been talking about the symbols of Christ, but now
we're going to talk about Christ himself and not just
talk about him. Our goal is to be transformed by
by Christ. Before we get into that, I'd like to
say welcome to everyone joining us, especially those joining us
for the very first time. Please please go over to
(01:16):
your Daily Portion dot com. Please join our online community,

that donation button at your Daily Portion dot com. This
is one of the ways that we continue to build
faith and fellowship. Let's pray, Father, thank you, thank you
(01:40):
for not leaving us in the dark. Thank you for
opening us up to the brightness of Jesus, the Son
of Righteousness. Please please give us your wisdom and help
us not to be satisfied with the symbols anymore. In
Jesus' name, I pray Amen and a man again, yes, yes, yes, yes.
(02:03):
Before before we get into the details here, I would
like for you, I would like for you to please
just go over and think about what your real goal
is when you're learning these truths. When you're learning these truths,
are you are you focusing on just the details of
(02:28):
what you can learn, like in a classroom setting, or
are you actually yielding your will to God because you
are focusing on God himself? You see what I mean? Like,
sometimes we can become so detail oriented, and I am
extremely detail oriented. We that we are are focusing on
(02:51):
the wrong things. We're to see some things, but not
to focus. Okay, So let's run our minds forward, run
our minds forward to see what God really has for us.
And so from reviewing Harold June twenty three, eighteen sixty eight,
we read that's a year, yeah, way back then, something
(03:12):
really sweet. Christ, our anti typical Joshua has gone before
us and conquered. He leads his followers to victory and
rest if they but keep their eyes on him. And
so our focus. Now we've seen the symbol. We've seen
(03:32):
how God led his people through Moses. We've seen how
God led his people through Joshua. But now our focus is, oh,
wait a minute, Jesus is leading us through victory to
victory by keeping our eyes on him. There are sins
that we are conquering by the grace of God. There
are proclivities towards sin that we are conquering. There are
(03:55):
broken mindsets and limiting thoughts and beliefs that we are
overcome by God's grace. We are overcoming the drive to
be in relationships we should not have, overcoming addictions to
illicit drugs and alcohol abuse and all of these things
because of Christ, and so let's get our minds forward
(04:17):
forward into those truths. And then also from the book
The Desire of Ages, page three hundred and thirty one,
it reads, the rest that remains for the people of
God is not merely freedom from toil. It is freedom
from sin. The Savior's rest is the rest of victory
(04:38):
over sin. I remember, I remember the preacher and Bible
worker that I came in under when I got baptized
in nineteen ninety six, Pastor will Smith. I know, I know,
I'm sure he gets it all the time. But anyway,
Pastor will Smith used to say, brother, I noticed that
when people give testimonies, they're always giving testimony. He's about
(05:00):
filling the blank. I won't go into the details of
what he said. But then he said, why don't people
testify about victory over sin? Pastor Smith. I don't know
if you're if you're watching like or anybody who knows you,
but I remember that from way back then, brother, why
don't people talk about God giving them victory over sin
when we testify? And I agree, I agree. And so
(05:23):
we see now that Jesus leads us into true rest,
which is victory over sin. And so what I want
you to do is take an intentional or invest intentional
time today to rest in Christ's work, a victory over
sin in all of its forms. Stop striving to earn
(05:47):
favor if that's your thing, where you're ticking off a list,
if you're you're feeling accomplished, if you if you did
something right, and then you feel defeated if you did
something wrong, like get that tech, that that checklist thing
out of there. Stop striving to earn favor, but give
thanks instead, give thanks to God for the peace he
(06:09):
already has secured for you. Give thanks for the peace
that He has already secured for you. Now, the Bible
reads in First John, chapter three, as we go to
our second lesson, First John chapter three and verse eight four,
for this purpose the son of God was manifest. Well,
(06:29):
what was that purpose, John? That he might destroy the
works of the devil? All right, So, a lot of
times Christianize speaking people are comfortable and confident when we
are able to identify problems, identify problems. I'm no longer
interested in simply identifying problems. Now we need to neutralize
(06:52):
or address the actual problem, or or execute on the
goal of destroying the problem. Itself like identify it. Yes,
now let's resolve it. Let's be solution based or solution oriented.
What did he come to do not just reveal the
enemy's ploys or plots, but to destroy the works of
(07:15):
the devil. Now the Greek word, the Greek word lu
o meaning means to loosen or break up or to dissolve.
Joshua fought literal enemies. Jesus destroyed spiritual bondage. What did
he do loosen, break up, or dissolve literal spiritual bondage.
(07:38):
His victory over Satan at Calvary ended sins dominion and
opened the way for believers to walk in freedom and authority.
And we know that Jesus also moved into the ministry
of forgiveness in a special way and cleansing from all
unrighteousness in a special way. And so what I want
(08:00):
you to do is speak victory out loud today. God
is intentional, never changing. Yeah you remember that song. Yeah,
So since he is intentional, I want you to speak
in the way that Jesus would speak. Don't keep speaking
about the problems that you have, the difficulty you have.
I struggle with this, I struggle with that You're going
(08:20):
to continue to struggle. As long as you put that
up as what you say and do say and focus
on all the time, then you're going to continue to struggle.
But if you speak the victory of Christ, I can
do all things through Christ, which strengthens me. Hm. That's
the word of God. There hath no temptation taken me,
but such as it's common to man. But God is faithful,
(08:42):
who will with the temptation provide a way of escape
that I may be able to bear it. So what
I want you to do is remind yourself that Christ
has already broken sins power and walk in the confidence
of his triumph. I'm talking about beginning at this moment.
Number three. God gives Jesus gives excuse me, the inheritance
(09:05):
of the redeemed, and the Bible teaches us this in
Hebrews chapter nine and verse fifteen, that he's the mediator
of this covenant to give us this possession of the
eternal inheritance. So I want you to live each day
beginning now, beginning now or rebeginning now? Is that a word?
As an heir of God's promises? Let gratitude for your
(09:28):
spiritual inheritance motivate you to serve others with joy. Make
it a great day. Peace, Make it a great day.
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Always remember we cannot live by bread alone, but by
every word that comes from the mouth of God. This
has been your daily portion with El David Harris. Make
it a great day. Yeah,
