Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too
much because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy
for today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect
yesterday's portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to
keep us through today's challenges. On this program, we are
going to change all of that. Let's experience God's words
(00:22):
today and receive the power we need to live healthy,
vibrant lives. Welcome to Your Daily Portion with your host,
author speaker, Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):

I'd like to say welcome to you and ask you

the donate button at your Daily Portion dot com. This
is one of the ways that we continue to build
faith and fellowship. Let's pray, Father, thank you for this
new day, this new morning, help us to learn the
(01:38):
lessons that we need to learn, so one day we
will be face to face with you transform us. Please,
in Jesus' name, I pray, Amen and Amen again. All right,
so I'm going to share a quote with you, really
a couple of quotes, really really quickly, and then we'll
jump right in. First comes from James White from Reviewing Herald,
(02:03):
July fifteenth, eighteen sixty two. It was an article and
it reads, the work of Joshua was a shadow of
the work of Christ. We've learned this over and over again,
and the work of Christ continues in God's people. So
(02:24):
this is not something we are intellectually just learning and
understanding that work is happening in us. The work continues
in His people, who must overcome and enter the rest
prepared for them. Remember the people of God, the first
generation of freed slaves coming out of Egypt, None of
(02:47):
them except for Joshua and Caleb went into the rest
like they didn't even go into the earthly promised land.
And so what God is saying is that you were
to learn from that experience, learn from how God had
left his people in the past, but also be transformed
in a way that Joshua and Caleb were transformed to
(03:08):
the degree and learning how to repent, even like Moses,
who did not enter earthly promise, but then who had repented,
and he was resurrected according to the Bible Book of Jude,
and we see in Matthew chapter seventeen that he, along
with Elijah actually lived in heaven. So God resurrected Moses.
(03:31):
And of course that only happens for people who are repentant.
And so this work must continue in our lives and
not just in our intellect. Another quote from the book
Desire of Ages, page three hundred and two. It is
by beholding, and somebody's ready to type in the chat
to finish this, so I'll slow down. It is by
(03:52):
beholding that we become changed. That's it. We become changed.
The more we contemplate the character of Christ, the more
we shall reflect his image in spirit and in life.
The reason why so many people are struggling with their
(04:13):
thoughts and actions is because of what they are beholding.
We God forbid, are beholding. If you're struggling, you can't
keep your mind, You can't keep your mind sharp, Like
you can't keep your mind on things above. You are
always on negative mindset. You are struggling, struggling all the time,
struggling and never attaining to victory. Well, that's because your
(04:35):
focus is on the struggle. Your focus is on things
that break you. Your focus is on unhealed things. Your
mind is still accepting of conversations with people that are
leading you down the wrong pathway. Like I literally cut
myself off from negativity. Somebody starts down that pathway, I'm
(04:56):
not going to rebut it every time. I'm just going
to be quiet, literally nothing to offer, because I am
in that moment unapologetically rejecting the things that do not
align with Philippians, Chapter four and verse eight. Please look
that up, okay? And so by beholding we become changed.
(05:18):
Our first lesson. You thought that was the lesson, that
was the get just to get us started. Our first
lesson is the church engages in spiritual warfare. Notice I
said spiritual. So please don't get into that extremist foolishness
that people are doing on planet Earth. We're not talking
about that. The Bible says, for we walk in For
(05:39):
though we walk in the flesh, we do not war
after the flesh. So that means put your armaments down, y'all,
we're not fighting holy wars on planet Earth. Do not
do that. We do not war after the flesh. For
the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. That means
(05:59):
not tanks, that means not guns, that means not ammunition,
that means not incendiary devices. That means not arming yourself
and walking through the streets as supposedly the people of God.
That is not what we're talking about. The weapons of
our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to
the pulling down of strongholds. God has shown us in
(06:22):
the Book of Ephesians, chapter six, what the armor of
God looks like. Seven implements of spiritual warfare over sin
in our own lives. And so the Greek word for
warfare the Greek word for warfare stratia, meaning military campaign
or service. Joshua's battles foreshadowed the people of God's spiritual
(06:46):
conflict in our day right now against sin and evil.
Our victories don't come by physical weapons. I've made that
point already, but through faith, through truth, through prayer, through
allowing God to transform us through the power the Holy Ghost.
So identify that is the action step. Identify one spiritual
(07:09):
battle that you're facing, just one. Are you lusting a
lot or I shouldn't even say a lot? Are you lusting?
Are you seeming not to be able to overcome your appetite?
Is it that you're stress eating? Is it that relationship
where somebody's texting you in the middle of the night,
You're answering it, and it's throwing your whole spiritual experience
(07:31):
off with God. Whatever it is, identify that and confront
it using God's word and prayer. Whatever God has said
about it. I want you to accept that. Do not
embrace whatever your brain or the devil or those tempters
out there are saying about it, trusting His strength to
(07:51):
give you the what the victory. Let's run to our
lesson number two. Our inheritance is reserved in heaven. Praise God.
Our inheritance is reserved in heaven. The Bible reads in
First Peter chapter one and verse four to an inheritance incorruptible.
There is an inheritance that is imperishable and undefiled, that
(08:16):
fateth not away, reserved for you in heaven. God has
an inheritance for you in heaven. The devil can't impact it,
no mouth can can deteriorate it, No thief can break
in and take ah. There's no storm that can blow
it away. It is reserved for you in heaven. And
(08:38):
that term, that term for inheritance means a possession or
a heritage. Joshua divided the earthly land among the people
of God. Jesus grants his people an eternal inheritance that
cannot be corrupted or taken away. This promise anchors our
(08:59):
hope during every struggle. So what's the action? Keep your focus?
Keep your focus heaven word. I wrote a book many
years ago, Focus Heavens. Hashtag Focus Heavens. In your view,
life feels heavy down here, Remind yourself daily that your
(09:21):
eternal inheritance is secure already in Christ. And finally, I've
already made the point, but I'll say it one more
time for memory, for repetition. Lesson number three, by beholding Christ,
that is to appreciate worship and model. After his lifestyle,
we become changed into his image. Make it a great day, peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with L. David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah.
