Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too much,
because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy for
today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect yesterday's
portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to keep
us through today's challenges. On this program, we are going
to change all of that. Let's experience God's words today
(00:23):
and receive the power we need to live healthy, vibrant lives.
Welcome to your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, good morning, good morning. It is Friday, December five,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host, and this is your Daily Portion

today is no exception. We are continuing in our lesson

(00:55):

for true missionaries. Go ahead and type of one in
the chat. If you were confused when you opened up
your Adult Study Guide and then you saw was Sunday,
well yeah, sometimes that happens, but we know that it's
actually Friday. It's actually Friday. Before we get into that
(01:17):

We thank you for the privilege of coming together on
this day of preparation. Please prepare our hearts for the
(01:59):
Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus' name,
I pray a man and a man again. So in
a coaching community, I often say that without mission clarity,
you cannot have missionaries missionaries. So I'm coaching with a
(02:23):
lot of business people and others who run teams, and
a lot of times people are scattered. I don't mean
necessarily in our group, but I'm saying when you're leading
teams that are scattered, it's often because the mission is
not clear. It's not the only reason, but the mission
is not clear, or sometimes it shifts, and so with
(02:47):
the clarity of mission. Then you have people who are
willing to march in lockstep toward whatever goals are set
based on that mission. Okay. And so when Christ gave
the Great Commission, that was clarity, and he said he
would be with us alway, even to the end of
(03:08):
the earth. And so even in the Old Testament, even
in the Old Testament, God gave us a glimpse of
him doing something very similar. Now, let me go back
a little bit to Hebrews chapter ten and verse one
and make this all make sense. Hebrews chapter ten and
verse one says, for the law having a shadow of
(03:30):
good things to come, what are the good things to come?
That's a question you need to be asking and answering,
and not of the very image of the things. Can
never with those things, or with those sacrifices which they
offered year by year, continually make the comers there run
too perfect. Let me read it in a clearer language.
(03:54):
For the law possesses a shadow. We've talked about that
probably three or four days during the week. For the
law possesses a shadow of good things to come, but
not the reality itself. And so what God was giving
us was what I call a kindergarten view, a kindergarten
(04:16):
view of the plan of salvation, a kindergarten view of Oh,
wait a minute, this is what God is doing in
order to save me from my sins and then to
put me into ministry so that others can be saved. Yes,
so those sacrifices were showing us the reality of the Messiah,
(04:39):
the reality of what God is going to do in
order to save us from our sins, and then by extension,
use us to reach other people so they can be
saved by Christ. The Bible continues, and it is therefore
completely unable by the same sacrifices offered continual. So the
(05:00):
fact that you got to continue to offer sacrifices over
and over again. You know, if you read in Leviticus
chapters one through through seven, then you see the system
in a very clear and distinct way of teaching sacrifices
for what purpose, and the details of it are really
really clear there, and it's like over and over and
(05:21):
over and over, and none of them have the power
to deliver us from sin. So they were as shadow
leading us in the direction of Christ, who is the
ultimate power to save us from our sins. And the
text continues to perfect those who come to worship. So
God wants to perfect us, and it requires Jesus Christ
(05:45):
and all that he has done and is continuing to
do as he is in his cleansing ministry, cleansing work
right now preparing to come get us. Yes, and so
I'm thankful that he gave us the shadows, he gave
us the symbols. But those sins should always leave an
appetite in us to say, but God, there has to
be more. But God, there has to be more these sacrifices,
(06:09):
there has to be more. The materials that the sanctuary
was made of, that there has to be more. The
priests and the high priests, there has to be more.
And of course, indeed, and in fact there is. And
so the Greek word for shadow skia, it means outline
or fate image. The ancient ceremonies pointed to Christ. Yet
(06:31):
many clung to the symbols, even though we just read
that there were inherent flaws in the symbols because you
had to, because they couldn't actually save us. They clung
to those. When Jesus himself appeared, there were a lot
of people who did that to embrace Jesus. Fully, we
(06:52):
must let go of those traditions, let go of those
things that were symbols. Now how God is showing us
in the person and work of Jesus Christ the reality,
the genuine article. So let go of those things are
that are no longer useful, and those things do obscure
(07:13):
His truth and power. So today we need to be
asking God to reveal any traditions or habits or mindsets
that distract us from having a relationship, a living relationship
with Jesus the reality of every promise. Let me go
to lesson number two. It comes in from Isaiah chapter
(07:35):
six and verse eight. This is after Isaiah has been
cleansed and he has experienced God in the fullest sense
that he could on planet Earth. And the question goes
out here it is also I heard a voice of
the Lord saying, whom shall I send? Remember mission clarity, missionaries,
(07:55):
whom shall I send? Here comes the mission? Who will
go for us?
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Then?
Speaker 2 (08:00):
And I said, here am I send me? Here? Am
I send me? And so the Hebrew word for send
in this case is shallockh, meaning to dispatch with purpose.
Remember mission clarity, who shall we send for us to
do what? And then God gives the actual message. If
(08:21):
you continue reading through Isaiah's story, Uh huh, So he
is being dispatched. He's the missionary. Isaiah is the missionary
and people like him as are the missionaries. Why because
there is mission clarity. So he's being dispatched with a purpose.
That's what the word literally means. So God still seeks
(08:44):
volunteers who will carry his message of love and obedience
to the world. Are you being transformed by God's love?
Are you being transformed by His message to the world you?
And if the answer is yes, if you are being
transformed by the renewing of your mind, if you are
(09:05):
grateful for what great things God is doing in your life,
in your very key various key areas of life, then
you too become dispatched with purpose. You are a missionary
like Joshua and Caleb. True missionaries trust God's power more
than they fear the obstacles. So here is the action step.
(09:28):
Commit to sharing your faith. Commit to sharing your faith
consistently through conversation, prayer, and or service. Respond to God's
call with your own. Here I am send me, make
it a great day. See you tonight.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening, Friends, always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah,
