Speaker 1 (00:01):
Most of us eat every day, some of us too much,
because yesterday's food is not enough to supply energy for
today's needs. Why then, do some of us expect yesterday's
portion of heavenly manna, the word of God to keep
us through today's challenges. On this program, we are going
to change all of that. Let's experience God's words today
(00:23):
and receive the power we need to live healthy, vibrant lives.
Welcome to Your Daily Portion with your host, author speaker,
Elle David Harris.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Good morning, Good morning, Good morning. It is Sunday, December fourteen,
twenty twenty five. Hello, my name is El David Harris.
I am your host den This is your Daily Portion
where we give you God's word every single day, and
today is no exception. We are continuing in our lesson
study series Lessons of Faith from Joshua, and our caption
(00:55):
for today is all came to Pass, All Came to Pass.
We'll get into that in just a moment, but before
we do, I'd like to say welcome to everyone joining us,
especially those joining us for the very first time. Please
go over to your Daily Portion dot com. Please join
our online community. Pick up the Your Daily Portion Life
(01:16):
application guide, and please please, if it is something that
the Holy Ghost is impressing upon you, please donate at
your Daily Portion dot com. This is one of the
ways that we continue to build faith and fellowship. Let's
go ahead and pray, and then we will get underway.
(01:36):
Father and Heaven, thank you for giving us this new
day and for the privilege we have to serve you
and to do your will. Father, Please help us to
look forward to the fulfillment of all of the promises
that you have made to us. And if there's something
we are supposed to do, help us to do it
with all our heart. In Jesus' name, I pray, Amen
(01:58):
and Amen again. So the lesson writer opens up with
a question from Joshua chapter twenty one Versus forty three
to forty five. What picture does the book paint of God?
How do these words apply not only to the historical
promised land, but also to the reality of our salvation.
(02:20):
So let's go ahead and read. And the Bible reads
in verse forty three, So the Lord gave to his
people all the land which he had sworn to give
to their fathers, and they took possession of it and
dwelt in it. Can I just say when God fulfills
his promises, he does it all the time. Yeah, he doesn't.
(02:42):
He doesn't fulfill some promises and then welch on the others.
You have to be seasoned like me to remember what
welch means. He doesn't turn his back on his promise.
He doesn't reneg on his promises for some and then
keep promises for some other people. And so all of
these prophecies of the Old Testament give us an indication
(03:04):
of God's character, of his track record, of the way
that he treats with all of his promises. So if
he kept his promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he
will keep his promise to you. Now, of course, the
people of God are benefiting from that covenant that God
made with Abraham as Abraham in particular, and so verse
(03:26):
forty four. The Lord gave them rest all around. Are
you looking forward to the complete completion of the rest
that comes through Christ? M He gave them rest all
around according to all that He had sworn to their fathers,
and not a man of all their enemies stood against them.
You realize that the devil himself and all of his
(03:48):
evil angels, and those who unfortunately have chosen to side
with the enemy. Ultimately they will be no more. The
Bible writer says that the affliction will not rise a
second time. This is not going to happen again. So
all of those enemies stood against them. The Lord delivered
(04:09):
all their enemies into their hand Verse forty five. Not
a word failed of any good thing which the Lord
had spoken to his people. All came to pass. So
go ahead and type it in the chat. All came
to pass. I'm grateful. So since God did it for
his people, then since he did it throughout the centuries
(04:33):
in other cases for his people, he will do it again.
And so our first lesson is God completes every promise
that he makes. The word for fail nefall, meaning to fall,
to drop, or to be undone. When it says that nothing,
nothing good that God has spoken shall fall. Nothing like that.
(04:55):
None of that's going to happen. None of God's promises
fell to the ground. Every promise landed exactly where he intended.
God's people's victories, the inheritance, the peace, were not their achievements.
This is not something that they accomplish. It's not something
they could tick off of of a checklist. No, this
(05:18):
was the gift rooted in God's covenant faithfulness. So what
I want you to do, and we've said something like
this very recently, write down one promise from the scriptures
that you are claiming today. Pray daily God for your namesake,
(05:39):
Please don't let any of your words fall to the
ground in my life. My sister and friend Mignon Francois says,
and I call her boss Lady by the way she says,
speak what you seek until you see what you say.
Speak what you seek until you see what you've said.
(06:01):
And if you are speaking the words of God, seeking
according to the way that God has manifested the scriptures,
then you will in fact see what your mouth has said.
We're is confessing. We're confessing, we're agreeing with God. Lessen.
Number two, God saves us by his faithfulness, not because
(06:24):
of our strength, our beauty, our own faithfulness. It's because
of His great love, because of his faithfulness, and his
mercies fail not. And this is coming in from Ephesians
chapter two, verses eight and nine. Somebody just heard what
I said, for by faith? Are ye saved by grace?
(06:44):
Excuse me? Are ye saved through faith? And that not
of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works,
lest any man should boast. And so this word for grace,
this word for grace cais meaning unearned favor. Just as
God's people could take zero credit for the land, zero
(07:08):
credit for all of the victories, believers can take zero
credit for our salvation. I used to ask when I
taught publicly all the time, like week after week I
would teach publicly, would and I would ask the people
of God, like, what part do you play in your salvation?
And people would like, oh, get stumped because they're looking
(07:30):
for a way to take ownership. Of course we do
need to respond to God. Of course we cooperate with God.
But of course it was a trick question. I wanted
people to understand the very passage that we just spoke,
we take zero credit for our salvation. God's faithfulness, not
human effort, is the basis of redemption. The Cross is
(07:54):
the ultimate all came to pass where every promise of
mercy is found, has found its fulfillment in Christ. So
we surrender our will to God. But you realize that
he's the one that gives us both to will and
to do of his good pleasure. Yes, we are, and
it's enjoined upon us to love God with everything we
(08:16):
have and everything we are. But the Bible says, we
love him because He first loved us. So he's the
cause of our ability to love him. We're supposed to
have faith. Well, he's the author and finisher of our faith,
and I can go down through. We are to be
obedient to the law of God one hundred percent of
the time. The Bible says that he became obedient. He
(08:40):
became obedient the righteous requirements of the law needed to
could not be fulfilled in us without him in Romans
chapter eight, right, and so he condemns it in the flesh,
the Bible says, in order that the righteousness of the
law might be fulfilled in us who walk not according
to the flesh, but cording to the spirit. So literally,
(09:01):
everything God requires of us, he first gives to us.
So stop striving to earn God's approval. Rest in his grace,
knowing salvation is a gift and not an achievement. Our
final lesson is God's future promises are certain because fast
(09:22):
his past faithfulness is proven. I think we've already made
that case. And so each morning, each morning repeat God
is faithful I do that often. He will carry me
through today. Let this truth shape your outlook. Make it
a great day, and all all of God's promises will
(09:43):
come to pass. Peace.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Thanks for joining us listening. Friends. Always remember we cannot
live by bread alone, but by every word that comes
from the mouth of God. This has been your daily
portion with El David Harris. Make it a great day. Yeah.
