James Gunn Is Making the Right Call by Making Death Permanent
DC Studios isn't just rebooting Superman, but an entire universe full of heroes. Therefore, a lot will need to become established early on to give audiences an idea of what's in store. The interconnectivity is one element DC Studios is borrowing from the MCU.Still, the DCU will feature some noticeable differences that will provide a new experience for viewers. Instead of starting with origin stories, the DCU will jump into a world of metahumans who have been around for 300 years. There won't be a slow build to bizarre comic book concepts either, since the MCU has done a lot of the heavy lifting for the general audience. Making death permanent is a rule the DCU will operate under, which will get audiences invested in the franchise long-term.

Lord of The Rings  1978 Cartoon

The Blu-ray is available for pre-order on Amazon for $22.49 and will be officially released on June 24. The reprint will also include an interview series with Bakshi in which he discusses the making of the film. Before this reprinting, the animated The Lord of the Rings was only available on Blu-ray via a region-free imported edition. The movie is also available on DVD in a remastered deluxe edition for only $5 on Amazon.

you're a nerd side and your fon Sega show. Now
let's start the show. So this week's show, we've got
a few things to cover. First, we're gonna be talking
to great Delisely, Yeah, voice actor. She is known for
Simpson's She plays Dafty on Scooby Doo, Wonder Woman, you

(00:43):
name it. There's a lot of them. Just listen. You're
gonna go, oh yeah, oh yeah. We're gonna talk to
her for a while and uh yeah, just like sitting
down with them. Also, we're gonna talk about James Gun
about the DC universe versus Marvel. He's gonna be talking
about that. And then a little later on if we
have time. I want to do space Balls, but I
mentioned it out because Spaceball's two is coming out.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
And that's all we can talk about it in.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Case I don't get to it. I did do a
mint of Spaceball get in next week's show because got
to keep it on time. I don't want to get
in trouble by my people that I know. I don't
want to get into it. But what was it talking about,
James Gun? Well, let's start the show. We'll come right
back and I'll let you know.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Where.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Once a year, sci fi buffs take their lips off
the barrel of a loaded gun and spend half a
day adjusting their eyes to sunline.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
I want to see a comic book with pregnant I'll
be nuns. He's psychotics.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
Nerds.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
What a bunch of freaking nerdos.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
I'm a nerds.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Well, James Gun himself the master of disaster. What I mean? No,
he did a great job with Guardians of the Galaxy.
Most people even know what a Guardian of the Galaxy was.
Most people didn't even know what a grood was. Most
people even know who well Rocky Raccoon was. I did
see him for years of Tom books but I looked
at it and I'm like, I'm one of those guys
look at book and I'm like, this is so stupid
to have a rat? What's that is this?

Speaker 3 (02:04):
So I just never picked it up.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Well, somebody can do that with a franchise known as
Guardians of the Galaxy. Just think what he's gonna do
with not only the Superman franchise, but the DC universe.
He is making promises that he is not going to
do a tiresome thing that most of well Marvel does
all the time. What could that possibly bleed? What do
you think on Maria? What do you think? What do

(02:26):
you think? Death? Death? That is correct? There are so
many deaths, and let me let me put out a few,
and I'm talking about it. I'm talking about the MCU. Okay,
this is just just a few. Okay, Loki. Did Loki
die in the MCU. No, he not only died, he died,
he got killed by Fanos and then and then in

(02:48):
other universes he died many of different ways and brought back.
And now Loki's in charge of the Sacred Timeline. He's
holding it all together, which I believe me. I have
a feelings gonna draw just show up and do Day
or the Secret Wars next one Thanos. Thanos died, Denny
got his head cut off, but then went back in
time and the future guy forget about what if? I

(03:11):
can't forget that?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
What is?

Speaker 1 (03:12):
How about black Panther? Black Panther died a few times?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
What is?

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Had him die and had to come back?

Speaker 2 (03:17):
But do we really die? But the interesting thing.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
Green died and he came back. Can't forget about that?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
I wants you to die?

Speaker 1 (03:25):
What were you going to say?

Speaker 2 (03:26):
So?

Speaker 1 (03:26):
But if died, there we go.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
You gotta be consistent there.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yes, Gomora died the multiverse.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
But on the blog verse a lot of people are
talking about is that there's a more footage of more
people saying that James Gunn is going to be the
death of DC films?

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Is he really?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
That's starting to come in there? But this was but
guess when this started. It started four months ago when
the first trailer of Supermanican with a lot of there
saying that right because you want because it's going to
be like Guardians of the Gallaxy.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
They said the same thing for Gardens gal everybody was going,
this is the death of Marvel. He is putting all
these he's putting Chris Pratt and you were on top
of that, and I'm getting you were on in front
of that bandwagon. I don't like Chris Pratt. How can
you play that? And originally loves him, and James Gunn
said to him, like, you know, you're a little chubby.
And he definitely said this to him, I swear to god,

(04:19):
he said, Chris Pratt, you're chubby. You don't have.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
To lose all the weight.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
You can play star Lord's chubby guy. But no, he said,
put him on the diet and he said, just he goes,
I'm gonna lose the fifty and ended up losing sixty
pounds and got him fit. And then he took off
his shirt and help me seen and on him and
he goes, and I'm like this guy.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Except gosh when he came back.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
He got a little heavy. It's hard, I know.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
But sports there's his father at law.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
She has father. Just have a cookie with me. Those
are my cookies. Put down my cookies. Watch listen here,
Oh the cookies.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Put that cook it down.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
SE's cookies. No, but I can tell you this, this
James guy is making the right call. And I really
do think this. He says, he is making death permittent.
If you're Superman and you're in the DCU and you die,
it's permanent. If it's anybody and you're in the DCU
you die, it's permit.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
But one thing that's going to keep on going, which
he didn't mention in Rolling Stone, that he wants to
keep his black comedy so for these interesting times where
people want to be helpful hopeful and helpful hopefully, but
there's still some dark times. Sometimes some dark humor is helpful.
But and you get a taste of that, so go
see Guards of the Galaxy. But one thing he wants

(05:39):
to continue. There's a lot of heart. And you can
tell the dog Crypto mirrors exactly resemblance of his own dog.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
But you know what, here's another thing. So if you
need proof, just proof positive that someone dies in the
DCU and they're not going to come back, let's jump
back to the MCU with James gun Yondu died. Did
we see beyond do back a yet? Besides what if?
Because he had no control that no, and people, you
know those things I didn't write before.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
I forget guess what In the Rolling Stones article again,
James Gun said Rocket Really, James Gun, but Rocket the
raccoon you were just talking about in Gars the Galaxy
is the reason that helped the world be ready for Crypto.
Oh that's his point of view. Yeah, but he's just

(06:31):
remember it wasn't Hardly Behaves.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
It wasn't the dog they brought in the Russian behe
do you remember that one to talk?

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (06:39):
And what if as well?

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, that was so funny. So here's something else that's
on social media people are posting about, uh, and this
is just about Sorry James Gun, dude, I like you.
Your your brother's freaking awesome. We got to interview him,
Sean gunn amazing guy. But they're complaining about the costume
for Superman the New Superman, how it's loose fitting and

(07:01):
it's not tight exactly like in all the other movies.
Well hate the breaking for you guys if you read
the com books and you followed it really closely, because
he is following the com books of this series of mom.
His mom knits all his costumes and sometimes there the
patterns are off, they're not so it's customers no, And

(07:24):
it's not like Man of Steel where that was Kryptonian
suit that he put on and it was airtight and
it went against him. I know this is American made
prime Kansas from the city of Smallville, Kansas. Mom, se
on or sewing machine making that ass and putting on
there the Superman ass. So give mom, can't a little

(07:44):
bit of a break? Guy's okay if it's not form
fitting and he's just getting his footing, all right.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
And also, did you know that James gun is writing
hundreds of pages for like Preedrick Commanders, the anime show
Peacemaker season two and Died Superman all at the same time.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
Well, he is also in production in writing script right
now is a new Wonder Woman. Did you know that?

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Yeah, let's see who's gonna play that role?

Speaker 3 (08:10):
All right?

Speaker 1 (08:11):
While she's looking it up, I wanted to tell you guys,
if you haven't got the Nintendo's switch, you're just out
buying it from there.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:19):
It didn't sell an eBay and I kept it roll low.
I just returned it back to game Stop. But here's
the deal, you're not missing that much. There is only
like six or seven games. Michael, don't listen to this, Yeah, Aaron, Michael,
don't listen to this. No, he knows but a game
is coming out. Did you find out if anybody's writing
Wonder Woman so I can get into this next thing?

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Or no, no, no one's talking about Wonder Woman.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Okay, it is uh. We wanted to talk about the
Donkey Kong. Is it a new error or is it
the end? Now? Nintendo for years has used Donkey Kong
numerous games throughout the years, ever since the original to
Hong Kong arcade game from the Antagonist the Protagonists and
renamed quite popular over the years. I love freaking Donkey Kong.
Everything that I buy from Mario or Nintendo World or

(09:01):
Nintendo has to be some with Donkey Kong. Okay, Now,
Donkey Kong hasn't been a three D adventure game in years,
Okay it is. Don Yong sixty four was the previous
entry twenty five years ago in nineteen ninety nine, and
then it was Tropical Freeze released on the Wii U
twenty fourteen. New versions released in twenty eighteen Nintendo Switch.

(09:23):
Since this Switch version isn't technically a new game, it
will be eleven years between the last major Donkey Kong
release and the release of Donkey Kong Bonanza. That's a
new one coming out now. They're saying the recent Entendo
director for Don Compananza was filled with surprises when they
were given examples and I got some pictures of it.
His face is totally different his Carris.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
You keep talking about this.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
He looks so different. He's not designed this way.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Isn't it more like the movie?

Speaker 3 (09:47):
No?

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Well, here's the thing that gets people sarre who is Pauline?

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Do you know?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Because that's trying to research her and I can get
to it. Pauline, I guess. And if I asked her,
Michael probably know. Pauline is a singer. I guess in
in all the games like that is a I was
told there's a much younger version of Pauleen Ambo. Is
she in the games? Uh?

Speaker 2 (10:09):
She's a video game character for Donkey Kong. Yeah, so
Donkey Kong Bonanza. There's an official trailer for the twenty
twenty five So Pauline she joins Don Kong on his
adventure in Donkey Kong. Yeah, so he grabs her and
takes her and all that stuff. Yeah, So it confirmed
Pauline's age and Donkey kom then leaving fans wondering whether

(10:29):
it's a superhero odyssey prequel or Mario will appear as
a potential villain. Okay, so he's a So Pauline is
Donkey Kong's co partner that's in Bonanza. But he looks
just like the movie.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
It does look at the movie. That's a new that's
a new phase for him, I know. So people are
blown away because it seems like, you know, Super Mario
Odyssey has all those games over that that's how the
new uh Bonanza.

Speaker 2 (10:57):
Yeah, she's known as the Damsel in distress but the friends, Yeah,
she's a distress. So it's been Mario versus Donkey Kong series.
So in all these odysseies, and Pauline's name after Paulie James,
the wife of Nintendo of America's warehouse manager, Don James,
and she is very volunptuous, if you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (11:20):
So Pauline. So I'm assuming that Pauline was the original
Damsel in stress in Super Mario Brothers when they.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Threw Yeah, so was Kay Higgins who voiced her in
Super Mari Odyssey.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
But in so in Donkey Kong, was that Pauline the
one on top? Or was that Princess Peach? Well, it
depends what version the original one in the arcades.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
The original one is Princess Peach.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Also was Princess Peach Okay. I thought I was confusing
it too, So he's a little different. And they say
this game goes along the ways of well, the whole odyssey.
So it can be a brand new franchise where they're
going to try to make more and more and more
and more. Now, if there's enough people that have a
following and love for Donkey Kong, that's the thing. I
love Donkey Kong, but I'm not particularly going to sit

(12:02):
there and play hours at Donkey Kong.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
Well, you know, did you know you find Pauline at
her latest appearance at Mario Kart Rural. Yes, she just
played it, So did you find her?

Speaker 3 (12:10):
No?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
I didn't look for iteay, but her first appearance did
come in just the Donkey Kong game in nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Weird, there's so many games and I don't even know
half of them. I don't know any games. I don't
know how you guys keep up with this stuff, you
kids in your disco music and all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
All r that's why we sell vatory.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
All right, let's get in a quick interview I'm gonna
come right back and then I'm going to talk about
something that is coming to Blu Ray. What is it?
Something that needs to be fixed so bad? The Green
Value is horrible. I loved it every time it comes on,
like what was it Encore or HBO? I watch it
all the time. I love it and fans hated it

(12:46):
for a reason. But I'll let you know what it is,
all right. This young lady is great, the Liza Eliza Eliza,
She's what celeb works. This is the thing she's known
for The Simpsons. She's known for doing Wonder Woman and
Daphne from Scoopy We do.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Congratulations. I'm glad you're with sled works great organizationally and
you how many voices have you gotten over?

Speaker 4 (13:09):
You don't even know if people on the internet say
it's that I've done them more than any but any
other woman anyway.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Well, I appreciate you spend some time with me.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
I'm gonna get this right, Gray Delilah, Le Delile, Great Delia. Okay, Corby,
start talking.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
I want everyone who's listening right now to get you
on social media. What is your social media handle at.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Great Delile on my Twitter and at great Delile on Instagram.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Okay, take me through a few voices. So, Scooby Doo,
the anime we've done Star Wars, Oh my god, the
Clone Wars. You are Daphne too, and then.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Keepers, I'm Daphne on Scooby Doo and Vicky and the
Thaid Parents and Emily Elizabeth and Clifford.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
The Big Red Dog and Mandy from the Grim Adventures
of Billy and Mandy and oh so many, so many
in a zooma from Avatar the Last Airbender, of course.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
So are we doing all these from home now? Since
the Code Cope is in life.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Great leaving Los Angeles because I'm paying a fortune for
private school for my kids, and I'm a mother.

Speaker 6 (14:06):
I'm a single mom of three, and.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
So it's, uh, this is my little one. Yeah, they
do run a they do run alive?

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Are you eight? Holdly ten tens?

Speaker 4 (14:15):
My son is like kind of tall for his age,
and so I'm always mistaking ten year olds for eight
year olds.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
No, it's stally fun. So congratulations. So the Simpsons you
just got your replacing friends.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Marten Prince now for about three years, yeah, or maybe
longer than that.

Speaker 6 (14:31):
I don't know, but anyway, it's so exciting.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
So the Simpsons you can you don't have to go
to the Fox studios at all.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
Well, Jesus Zoom.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
We need to get you in the Fox studios because
you got to sign the wall. You know, there's a way.

Speaker 6 (14:42):
I've stood in front of the wall.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Did you sign it yet?

Speaker 5 (14:44):
Take some pictures?

Speaker 6 (14:44):
But I didn't. It was my first day on the job,
so I was like feeling not so comfortable signing yet.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Okay, Salte So I had to do something for King
of the Hill and I walked in there and I
saw the wall. They took me to the wall. They said,
you can't touch it because you're not with the Simpsons.
But because it was King of the Hill ninety nine,
I have to see it. I want to see you on.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I want to be on the wall.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
Got to get back to the law.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
So nobody knows I'm talking about. There's a famous wall.
When you're recording stuff. Everyone who's on The Simpsons or
made a guest appearance signs the wall.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
So we need to get Gray to sign that wall.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Family guy has like little polaroids that they have all
and I got one of those polaroids.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
That's so you did family, guy, I did family.

Speaker 6 (15:18):
I did American Dad. That's what it was. Yeah, I
think I did American Dad, and that's how I got
on the wall.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Well, I want to thank you spend a few times
with me. I don't want to take away from the
fans that want to get autographs with you. You are beautiful,
you're charming, you're great, your voices are great. I'm glad
you're with Celeb Works. I'm gonna uh once again. I
want and need to social media because I want people
to follow you and find out what's going.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
On with you.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
You like dirty jokes and cartoons. To follow me on Twitter,
you have to be eighteen and.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Over and you get your singer too, right I am.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
I'm putting out several albums.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
I just put out a single the other day, and
I just recorded fourteen songs in North Carolina.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
I wrote seventy songs over the lockdown.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Dude, you're doing a lot, man, and all from home.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
All from home. I mean I did go to North
Carolina to make that record.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
But well, thank you spending some time with me. We'll
follow more about you, and trust me, I'm doing stuff

latest toys.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Lad less on your nerd side.

Speaker 1 (16:29):
And here's the next thing, is that I get these
articles sent to me. I'm thinking about weekly your nerd
side note news like latest breaking news.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
You do have that playlist?

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I know it's just so hard. I gotta voice, I
gotta write it, I gotta produce it, then I got
to edit it.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
You can also look at what other you the research
on YouTube from other people and then put it on
that playlist.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Did you know that?

Speaker 2 (16:51):
No, so it could be a joint out for you
already have that and also for example if you do,
there's a right people talking that paulink actually is the
question is a prequel going back to the Donkey Konglee
real quick, she is thirteen years old. I think the
reason why she liked that in Donkey Kong bananza to
be more age appropriate, because if you look at other
things as Pauline's singing at her club at Donkey Kong

(17:14):
strikes again, Mom, Mummy, this is really appropriate for young kids.
So yes, So the thirteen year old is back.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Before we went in to break, I was talking about
a movie that's getting redone, but I'll make it break
it down, a cartoon that's getting a brew Blue ray
version of it. It's nineteen seventy eight cartoon came out.
I loved it, got forty nine percent rotten to men,
I sixty four percent by fans. Lords of the Rings
by J. R. Tucklans, Yeah, they did a cartoon version.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Now.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
The Blu ray is going to be available for pre
order Amazon for twenty two to forty nine and Fishy
released on June twenty fourth. The reprint also included interview
with series Bakshi in which he discussed the making the
film Before the Ring printing, the anime Lord of the
Rings was only available in Blu Ray via regional free
imported edition. The movie is also available on DVD is
remastered de Lux edition for only five bucks on Amazon

(18:05):
see five bucks you can watch on Amazon. I love
this one.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Now.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
The movie was criticized by fans, and I'll ask you,
why did you ever like it? Or no the cartoon?
You didn't?

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Did you?

Speaker 1 (18:16):
Why?

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Slow?

Speaker 1 (18:18):
I loved it and I was a little kid.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
But you read the book first.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
I read part of it. I was too little, I
got too little. I didn't.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
This is what I think. Like for example, Andre and
my son liked How to Train the Dragon the movie
because he read the whole there. So I think if
you got a taste of reading it and you got
into this imagination, you just got more into it. Now,
don't get me wrong, you went back in the days.
I did watch the series when it popped up on TV,

(18:48):
so not you know. And did you watch it in
nineteen seventy eight when it came out, Yeah, I did too.
I did do it so there wasn't much so anything animation,
So you.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Can understand when I first watched it. It's kind of
and it's the sound weird, you guys. It's kind of
like I do remember watching it first time. I always
watching it re you know, when it was on cable
again like Showtime or something like that, because Showtime HBO
were the only stations I really had. But I always
thought there was a big publicity campaign around it, and
I don't remember. I just remember the Hobbit came out

(19:17):
the cartoon series, and then Macy's Downtown had the windows.
I told you this before, had the windows all displayed
in scenes from The Hobbit with putting the ring on,
he would disappear, and I was like, oh my god,
I wish they would do stuff like They just don't
do stuff like that anymore. But let me tell about
this real fast. The movie has been criticized by fans
because the movie only covers those been those ship, the

(19:40):
Fellowship of the Ring, and just a portion of the
Two Towers, completely leaving out the return of the King. However,
the years it has a gain somewhat of a cult.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Staff and the people complaining to ask them, have you
ever animated a movie? And if you said yes, you
have the right to co playing. If it's no, be
what a lot of work?

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Well nowadays it's a lot faster, I mean computer and
they match up.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Oh yeah, yeah, you talk to those people have picks.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
No, I'm telling you that movie. Then they had a
voice it and they had a draw.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Technology is better.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, it's reversed now now they can take the pencils
and now it's AI. Now it just last two years
of been AI. The AI computer automatically changes the mouth
to move with the voice. So it's a lot faster.
I'm not saying it's slower or harder, but I'm just
saying it's a lot easier today than it was back then.
All Right, I wanted to talk about this. We didn't

(20:34):
talk about this last week. It was with the Pixar
movie that came out. Uh ileo Ilo. I said it
right right. I saw the previews for it.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
I think it's hard because no one can pronounce it.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
It's him being you want to be. Of course he's
picked on by kids, but he wants to be abducted
by aliens because he believes in aliens.

Speaker 2 (20:53):
So it definitely misunderstood. I think that's what it is.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
It seems like a movie, and what I've watched, there's
certain to watch and I'm like, I gotta see that.
I saw a preview for Bad Robot, and I'm like,
I gotta see that. This looks fantastic. I see Toy Story,
and I'm like, wow, I gotta see this. I see
the Incredibles, I gotta see this. I saw this and
it did nothing to me to see it. And I

(21:18):
gotta say the news animated film is breaking a long
standing record for the studio and it's not a good thing.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Okay, this is per variety.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Eloi Eloi Elia Elio was debuting theaters on June twentieth.
Has Estimate earned thirty five million worldwide during its opening weekend.
Of the figure, fourteen million came from oversea markets. The
twenty one million debut making Domestli is now Pixar's worst ever,
behind the films like Toy Story the Incredibles failing, nemo

(21:48):
Eli took the third place at the domestic box Wait, so.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Wait, worst opening ever, so worse than The Red Panda.
I don't know, missus, no, no, no, everyone's saying this. Okay,
So here, I'm just reading this from Forbes. One thing
worth noting is that there have been other Pixar films
that had lower opening numbers at the box up, but
those releases with a huge caveat So hear this out,
So twenty twenty, oh, I know why, let's se if

(22:13):
you can figure this out before I finished the sentence,
Luca twenty twenty one and Turning Red twenty twenty two
all debuted on Disney Plush during the COVID nineteen pandemic
before getting limited theater runs in twenty twenty four. Because
Turning Red nobody saw each other for that movie when
they created it. It was all on zoom if you
look at the trailer.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Yeah, And Disney's twenty twenty three film Elemental held the
title of the lowest grocy international debut with fourteen point
nine million from the overseas markets until Ilio Elementa did
not go on to earn half a dig go on
to her half a billion dollars globally during the theatrical

(22:54):
run due to the word of mouth that was about it.

Speaker 2 (22:57):
I think the main thing it seems like it has
to be really latable in some way or the other.
Like you got more engaged in Pixar Winn or Lose,
which was a limited mini series. Yeah, like The Plus,
and it dealt with so many different issues in different
ways and different character Really a fantastic show. So hey,

(23:19):
you got Disney Plus, find a friend who can watch it.
With that, I would do because I kept asking our son,
we were stuck somewhere, and I'm like, imagine we saw
now here here. Here's my question, yea, with all the
bad reviews, would you rather continue eating the right hour
of traffic? Well, let me ask you this for our track.
Pick or gone that Illeo movie? Watching it that night?

(23:39):
As I kept on hoping us to do.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
I probably go see the Ilio movie.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Okay, so it's not that much.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
I didn't get that back. The movie was certified fresh
score of eighty four percent on Rotten Tomatoes from one
hundred and thirty seven critical reviews, also as a ninety
one percent audience score. Ilo stars. I don't know these
people's names. Well you know Zoe, Oh, she was in it,
Zoe Saldana. Yeah, Brad Garrett. Brad Garrett is right, Hey, dumb,

(24:07):
dumb the guy from uh not Willing Grace? Jeez, how
do I say Will and Grace? Everybody loves Raymond his brother.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Everyone.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Yes, So I don't want you to look at the line,
but you probably did. Number two gets you to number
two of the box office.

Speaker 2 (24:21):
Well, number one is How to Train a Dragon. Number
two was I told you to go see it.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
Eight years later, the movie I wanted to see. I
don't know, I just got lazy at home. It was
that it felt with June teenth, it turned into a
four day weekend. Man, it just turned into a four
day weekend. I can't help you.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
You should be more like Europeans have regular all right.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Yeah, all right?

Speaker 1 (24:42):
So if am I gonna go see it now, I'm
gonna wait because on Disney Plus also they're killing themselves.
Disney Plus is there, so.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
You know it's get killing themselves.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Well, Disney Plus is out there. I don't know those movies.
I'm like, I could wait for it to come on
Disney Plus. A Marvel movie, I'm like, I want to
see what's gonna happen. I want to see what the
franchise is going to do, bad or not. It's it's
just it's just there, do you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (25:10):
So I know it's well whoa, but okay, but what
happened with Leelo and Stitch and lot of you were
not waiting for that.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
I wasn't gonna go.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
It's still number four.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Here goes follow Why Leleone Stitch are two characters a
Disney branded the characters that every kid likes. I don't know.
They freaking love it, my son.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
So there we go.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
It's really a Disney store. Uh. Before we met you
in the train, because we were taking to the fair,
we stopped at the Disney store. We we this weekend,
we went to the Alameda County Fair. She was in
town doing stuff and she had to meet us on
barrier rapid chans at bart that's coming through San Francis
up to there to meet us, and I said, we're
gonna stand at the outlet malls and go to the
Disney store. Well from my son here, Michael, you got

(25:54):
a shirt something else. He went over, saw the mechanical
uh lelo and stitches and hews like I want this.
I looked at it. It was like ninety bucks. You
hit it. And he walks around this stuff and I'm like, yeah,
I'm not getting this because there's ten other things in
this room that they're just sitting there and he never
touches again. So I didn't go there. But if you
wanted that, and he had to show him a fascination
for it, we got. We did the premiere. So I

(26:16):
didn't pay to go see it.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
I wouldn't have.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
It's just one of those things that kids really like
it's a branded thing.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
They like they know, well, I think it's also snow
White is.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
A live version. Yes, don't know snow White, they don't know.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
No, Well, there's so much bad press Cinderella.

Speaker 1 (26:33):
Cinderella didn't do that good.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
You didn't even know snow White was a sing along.
I think if it was more of a sing along.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
They should put the Casher theater. Probably do, I mean,
think about it.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
That's what I'm a Mermaid. But I think the other
thing isid didn't do good?

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Did it?

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I don't believe it did. But also there was issues
because okay, so it's trying to be more current and relevant.
But a mom who daughter also looks like the Little
Mermaid the current live act, She's like, wait, the dad
has all these various different daughters, So how many moms
did he have? Like what message is that sending to

(27:08):
the kids that.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
He is not having intercourse with them, He's just laying
eggs and fertilized them.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Yeah, that's just so going back to Ilio. So just
to let you know, so fake is right. There's a
lot of good reviews, but here whether you should see
it or not. If you like Luca and soul in
that theme, like from the critique Christine Lopez from film Madvin.
They said, it's very much more in common I know.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
I don't know, I know.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
But here's one other person for a variety, Peter Debrug,
which I agree. He says, Hey, it's it's right at
home with picksar, but lacks some undeniable signs of intelligent
life aka with surprise and the capacity to expand the medium.
And that's where it lacked on.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
All right, and it there. If you're going to see it,
go see it. If you're not going to see it,
don't see it.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Just go see Mattine or Disney.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
Plus I'll see twenty eight years later your kids all
love it. Yeah. So I wanted to talk about this
real fast. How long do I have? I got a
few minutes I could do this. Uh, Spaceball two's Spaceball
two has been greenlit to be done. I'm excited about it,
but is it the smart thing to do? Here's a
few things I want you think about before I start
getting into this. Spoof Movies like Spaceball's are a dying genre.

(28:22):
Think about that number one, number two. The Star Wars
fan base has changed over the past thirty eight years.
It's not the same. They don't go in drones to
movies to see the lace things. That's so great. They
do go, but not like crazy. Spaceball two could be
just what Hollywood needs. Ye now, why it was a
few things. Number one.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Mel Brooks, who's going to turn ninety nine and come
back as Yogurt Yoga.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
And he's the Emperor. He plays the emperor to the president,
the president. He plays two. He plays two characters. And
they said that, oh, there's that role.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
Then, I guess they co wrote the original along playing
dual roles. They're just mentioning him playing yogurt.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
I guess his age is getting to him.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
He's let's see how you're it.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Really looks like yogurt. I guess he does not yogurt
in the cup, but yogurt he he he wrote it
with Josh gaff I think Josh who played Oloff the
voice of Oloff, because he's in it. And everyone's coming
back except for the people who passed away. We don't
have our c Thropio Joan Collins, not Joan Collins, Joan Rivers,

(29:31):
and we don't have John Candy as Barf. Is it Barf? Yeah?
It is Barf. We lost him too. But here's the
thing is, since he's come back, he wrote it, but
he's not directing it. He has another director in mind.
Now here's the thing I hope and this is what
I read this article is going on. Josh Gadda was right.

(29:53):
How do I put this? I hope he's not going
to do the storyline of making like fun of episode
one or episode two, or return the Jed or anything
like that, because it doesn't seem that what the audience
of Star Wars is not there to follow this fan
base as it did back then. Now everyone says the
only way you could possibly win in Hollywood and in

(30:13):
is to make fun of Hollywood if they make fun
of Hollywood in a certain way instead of doing other
stuff like when he said he said it's all about
marketing the whole The part of the move that's the
funniest is when you talk about marketing, he goes, uh,
spaceballs the toilet paper, space ball's the t shirt, spaceballs,
the this, spaceballs the toys. But instead of just doing that,

(30:36):
if you can make more fun of Hollywood itself and
about what they're doing about the strikes and this and
AI taking.

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Over, well, let me ask you this. Writing partners are
also Samon and Hernandez, who also worked on Teenage Much
and Turtle's Mutio Mayhem, Pokemon Detective Pikachu, Adam's Family two,
and the Disney plus lucasfilm Lego Star Wars Rebuild the Galaxy?
Do they do good jobs on the You did do
a good job of those, very good.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Well, then the question, now here's another thing I'm gonna
throw at you. Now, mel Brooks an amazing job with
other movies like Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein. What do you
think of those? Were they good? That's especially Yes, you
got it, dude, that's me. And if you go watch

(31:21):
if you go watch Spaceballs, there's certain comedy in there
that would never fly today.

Speaker 2 (31:27):
Here's a question, though, Oh god, no, Now, have you
ever seen Spaceballs, the anime series that came out in
two thousand and eight? Have you seen the documentary that
came out in two thousand and five.

Speaker 5 (31:38):
No?

Speaker 1 (31:38):
I just saw the cartoon.

Speaker 3 (31:39):
I liked it.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
I wanted more space Balls. Did you know there's no
toys made for space Balls?

Speaker 2 (31:44):
I think George Lucas would say no.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
That's why he did that. But people wanted toys so bad.
Everybody wanted a dark helmets.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
So well, a lot of people are going to go
in their AI and then ask, hey, real quick, because
I think you're gonna forget this too, we go back
to Spaceball because you are in charge of the show.
Coyote versus Acme. Do you know that's coming back with
all the looney tune characters by James gun No? Yeah,
So guess what, guys, Dave Green's going to direct this

(32:14):
writers again is James Gunn somebody doesn't want to stop.
It's gonna come out in twenty twenty six. It will
be a PG movie. So the Coyote comes back, but
will he win?

Speaker 1 (32:25):
Ever? The last thing I'm gonna say this about Spaceball
Tree in the show is thirty eight years ago, there
was only one Star Wars trilogy, but since then there
have been a prequel trilogy, a sequel trilogy, a sequel
to the prequel, a prequel to the sequel, Countlet's Stevie spinoffs,
a movie spinoff of the TV spinoff, which is both
a prequel and a sequel. So if he's gonna spoof anything,

(32:46):
I'm telling you exactly what you gotta do. You better
do some prequel sequel decals, zeqel decals, and you'll be fine.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
All right, she's got a lot of stuff.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
As I remember that, the Pullman's are going to be there.
Dad's going to come back, and son.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Will I be in a theater see this? Yes, if
it's on demand, we'll be watching it.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Will your son demand it?

Speaker 1 (33:04):
I don't know. I'll let him watch space Balls.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
I mean, Natty Professor, he really loved what that Eddie
Murphy did.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
Jeez, he did such a good job in that Eddie.
You were funny.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
Dude.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Well aren't you supposed to recommend some things for people
to watch?

Speaker 1 (33:16):
I'll do that next week, Nattie, we just run out,
Natty Professor. There you go, Natty Professor Part two. Wasn't
that good?

Speaker 2 (33:21):
Eddie Murphy?
