Speaker 2 (00:01):
So I got to say, it's at your nerd side
to see some cool toys that we're opening up.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
Yes, now you finished that?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Wait when you really quickly? I'm looking at an Alamo
three D glasses on a life size gremlin. Has there
ever been posted on your YouTube channel.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Nor nerd side? No, I've got like ten of those.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
It's so many toys, my friends.
Speaker 1 (00:22):
Let's start the show while she plays with my gremlin.
I guess, oh, and then you like that.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
And then on the show, we're gonna be talking about
Superman because it's coming.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Up playing with Superman.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
And then we're going to talk about a Star Wars
character that someone emailed me about. We're going to answer that, uh,
super villains and of course Ironheart.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
So who's the super villain this show?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
We'll find out.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Let's start the show welcome, where once a year, sci
fi buffs take their lips off the barrel of a
loaded gun and spend half a day adjusting their eyes
to sunlight.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
I want to see a comic book with pregnant I'll
be nuns.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
He's like clicked nerds, a bunch of He can nerd
your personality. So since we were starting the show, I
got an email from a gentleman from sar Ramon as John.
(01:19):
John Schneer from Saramony emailed, what's the backstory been seen
about the gunner and Star Wars who.
Speaker 1 (01:25):
Fired the Death Star?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
And that'd be if you watch Star Wars and it
goes prepare to fire and they wear those weird helmets.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I would love to help him. Do you know what
I'm talking about?
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yes, he's known as Master Chief Gunnery Officer.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Ten granted, that's his name, ten Granted. There's a backstory
about him. It's unbelievable and just recently everyone's talking about it.
Very very famous for Yavin four, the Battle over four,
he was ordered to far you have them four?
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Okay? Ready for this?
Speaker 3 (02:01):
He was John.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
He was an assistant gunner when he was twenty years old,
serving through the Clone Wars, continued to do so after
the Galactic Republic's transformation to the galact Empire. He was
eventually promoted the rank of Master Chief Gunnery Officer and
transfer to the Death Star. He was a staunch supporter
of the Empire who reveled revealed an opportunity to build
such powerful weapon.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
He loved in it.
Speaker 2 (02:22):
He was in charge of He was the actually guy
to push the button to fire the Death Star, but
he did not actually thought he was going to use
it against inhabited planets. He assumed the empire and built
it as a fear tactic, which was partially true, but
Grand Moth taken of course, believed that the greatest Waite
inspired fear was to make an example of Aldron. As
soon as Ten fired the super laser, he was racked
(02:43):
with guilt and suffered a metal breakdown with a pole lever.
He wiped out two billion lives. So he thought about this, this,
this is a story they're doing right now, and they
might be doing more with it. And after this, you
ready for this? And this is for John, John, I
researched this more Here we go. Ten considered desert of
the Empire, but he knew it would be accomplished nothing
(03:05):
because someone else would just feel his vision. And then
when Ten was later ordered a fire and Yavi and
four and then in Star Wars, if you watch she
goes prepare to fire, he's taking his time. He actually hesitated,
hence his reputation for stand by.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
He goes stand by. According to the.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Novel, there's a novel for this ten prayed for a miracle,
for something, anything to living for the burden of so
many deaths, for something to stop it somehow. So now
you guys know and he died in that battle.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
Question is what would you do knowing you were gonna
kill millions of lives alas like Kishima?
Speaker 1 (03:40):
I probably would have pulled that. I probably wouldn't have
done it. I would would not.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
And you had been like in jail, not a bank ordered.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
That's a big thing, dude, to kill all those people.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
So those people here who bomb Hiroshima.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
Well some of them killed themselves. We know those stories.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
So slow death for right away death.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
If you want to know that novel, it's called Death Star,
a Star Wars legends novel. It's written by Michael Reeves
and Steve Perry. Originally published in October two thousand and seven.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
And they are rumors, and this is what John Sneer said,
Is it true they are going to make some kind
of a Star.
Speaker 1 (04:16):
Wars story about this?
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Well I looked, and there are rumors. I saw one
thing that they are looking into making more Star Wars.
How they de Tales of the Empire this and that
this actually might be a tale that's coming out. It's
on it's one of the ones they're working on.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Well, we do need some people to talk about really
thinking about ethics and decision making the impact not just
for yourself but for others.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Well, we'll see about that.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
If you want to catch more stories, they do, and
then everything that's happening with Star Wars over that. If
you go to Star Wars Wikipedia, the Wikipedia they have,
they always put out like what news stories are coming
out and things they're doing.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
All right, Oh wait, before you go off, just if
you go into Nights of the over Public, there may
be some hints of stories lined, like that of leading
up to ten Granite. So that's where the rumors are
from the Lucasfilm Industry studio.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
All right, so the Superman movie, it's called Superman, the
twenty twenty five movie that is coming out with his
new symbol and which is based on the All Star
Superman is coming out July eleventh.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I will see it a week earlier, and then I'm
gonna see the game with the family. Someone bragging, huh No,
I'm gonna do a tool full report on it. But
the reviews are in and they said it's really this
is all the.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Sneak sneak sneak peaks. They're actually giving it good. It's
not rotten tomatoes around like that.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Just you were like, I got out. It's really good.
So people are saying it's pretty good so far. The cinematography,
how it looks, how the stories put together. It feels realistic. Yes,
of course it feels riistic, realistic, doesn't it because there's
a man flying around. Well, since you're doing that snsumers
coming out, let's talk about the live action appearances and
how they stack up to because we've seen somewhat controversial
(06:02):
in recent years, Jack Snyder's Zack Snyder's interception of the
character featuring Henry Cavell.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
It was in diverse.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
James Gunn's upcoming Supermo movie looks solid, but it remains
of me see how fans will react to the film.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
You know what we got early?
Speaker 4 (06:17):
Well, do know that for advanced tickets it's not even
the top three for advanced tickets. That's Leilo Stitch, the
Fantastic four and twenty years later.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
If it's good and I think people will follow, we'll see.
I don't know what about Fantastic If.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
You build it, they will the Fantastic four is leading
the pact right now, I mean right after Leland Stitch.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Of course, maybe because of the taste, the taste of
all the DC movies.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
But think about how many Superman movies.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
I mean, do I need to go through the list
in chronological order for releases.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
But no, let me break them down for you of
how they stack up.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
Because there's about almost ten.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
There is exactly how they did it, and fan rounded up.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
There's eight that they consider eight the.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
Movies out that is correct, including the one with the
Flash in twenty twenty three, which I don't know how
that is correct.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
No, no, no, So we got the original Superman nineteen
seventy eight, Superman two nineteen eighty with General Zod, Superman
three nineteen eighty three, Superman four, The Question Piece eighty seven,
Superman two Returns two thousand and six. Brandon roth Man
of Steel, loved it, Number seven Batman versus Seven versus Superman, Donna,
(07:31):
Justice twenty sixteen, I loved it, Little slow people, and
then number eight Justice League twenty seventeen.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
That's what he got.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
So this is how it broke down, if we're gonna
look at it is according to these are ranked. And
this is like if we were gonna do rotten smails
or anything like that, the number one out of all
those the number one that came out.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
This is ranking first, not money.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Superman nineteen seventy eight is the number one seven point three.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Are you surprise?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
No? And still it holds up today.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
But we have to think about like this Superman has
changed over the years, so if we can change it.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
But it's weird. It's corny seventy eight.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
But it'sroutten tomatoes two percent.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Right, I don't get it. You look at it sometimes.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Corner Man corny. I mean, think about it. He is corny.
He's corny as Clark Kent. You know, the only reason
why people don't say Superman's corny because he's so freaking strong.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
But if you take all that away, he's corny. He right,
he's a boy scout, he's an easygo scout.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
Yeah he is there you go so and it just yes,
Christopher Reeve will always be Superman for me, but he's
just not the Superman in the later movies because they
were just cutting the budget.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
No, no, no, But number two I would bet is
Man of Steel. There's something but.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
But Henry Caville takes away that corny is and then
just kind of puts in awesomeness. I mean in a
different way. They're just pure strength thing. It's it's like,
you know, there's just like a lot of grace and
strength of the same time.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Would you agree, No.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
I think it's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
No, he did a great job with it. No, I
have to say he did great. I loved it when
it came out. I thought they were going to continue
on it and give him a black suit.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
And yeah, that was because of justice like bat members
of Superman destroy that just but you know, I would say,
you know what a lot of people are saying, it's
he's a serious Superman so versus you know the other
one that Christopher Reeve did.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Now, what's your next?
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Ranked one?
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Number three?
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Number three?
Speaker 2 (09:27):
And I can see this totally says Superman two from
nineteen eighty eight, six point eight. And of course it
was my aunt Marilyn. I remember scheme up to me
as a little kid. She goes, we can see that.
What movie you want to see? Because my uncle Frankie's
at work and I'm spending the weekend my aunt and uncle.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
You know, we can go see Muppets, take me a
Hen or Superman two, And I was like, in my mind,
I'm like, come on, lady.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
But the actor for General Zod was amazing. And this
was a Richer Donner's cut as well, too.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
So and they edited that wasn't the original the.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Original, but I'm talking about the one that's preferred for
Supermanto is Richard fantasticastic. Briefly, what's this Richard Donner right
where there's a Zack Snyder cut to like, So what
happened back in nineteen eighty.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
He had a fight with a movie studio. They didn't
like the direction he was going.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
The two brothers that owned the movie company, and they
wanted to do their way, so they hired another guy
to come in. They fired him, and it was like
and Christopher Reeve was so upset. Everyone was upset.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
He got let go.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
They didn't want it to have any continuation from the
last movie because at the end member Superman let the bomb,
the nuclear warhead, the Lex Luthor let go.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
It was supposed to blow up.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
He wanted to blow up California's to get the real estate. Well,
remember he'd let it go in out of space to
blow up. That was part two that opens the phantom
zone to do it. They didn't want to do that.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
They said, let's rewrite it. I didn't like that, so
they redid it that.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
They added this whole part where there was a bomb
threat terrorist in Paris and he had to save Lois
and he threw the bomb up in the air again,
which is like the same thing, and opened up the
phantoms owner and went into it. There's a whole bunch
of stuff that was different.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
So basically, watch both movies and get your own review.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
It's own. Who's number four?
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Watch the watch the other cut?
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Okay, so so number four I bet is Zack Snyder,
just like Richard Superman Batman.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
Vers Not Justice League.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Okay, Batman were Superman Donna Justice six point four, and
we're we're getting down there.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Because I am L what's your source?
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Because Batman Versus Superman the tomatoes twenty nine percent? I
am dB did this, Okay, so you're doing IMDb. Okay, then,
but wait, I am dB was six point four and
then Zack Snyder's Justice League was seven point nine.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
No, I have a six point three.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
I think you need to check your notes.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
No, no, wait, Zack Snyder is just League twenty seventy.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Twenty twenty one, not the other Justice League. No, come on,
just like Richard Donner, you said you got to watch
Richard daughter work.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Zach's okay, So I didn't do the snacks Zack Snyder cut.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
I did the original cut.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
I'm sorry to know we're doing recuts. I was doing
the originals that Zach Snyder.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
You mentioned that when I was talking about Richard Donner early.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
Thinking about it, and it's I really loved it a
lot better I know no One. And then after Jessic League,
it's Superman Returns two thousand and six, six point oh,
Superman Returns. I had such high hopes in it. I
paid for eight of my friends to go see it
at University City walk an't you rich all of them.
I'm like, we're seeing Superman we saw during the day
(12:24):
at their girlfriends, and.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Well that's I walked out and I was like, it
was kind of like after I saw episode one of
Star Wars. I'm like, I have to go back see
it again. It's just something wrong with this.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
There was no chemistry between Lois and Clark. The script
was a little off RNE.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
It was just a little.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
It was boring. It was so boring, and that's why
they they readid the Superman. They knew I had to
give him more action the next time. Won all right.
Next one after that is Superman three, which is a
piece of junk nineteen three five point Oh.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
It's a piece of junk. Dude. It was just a
big joke. And of course they had Richard Prior and it.
My aunt took me to see that one.
Speaker 3 (13:00):
Richard Prior just they just wat a talent.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Yeah, they just wanted to make it a comedy and
he was just there to sell tickets it and they try.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
To do the bizarro thing and they rewrote the script.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
I just have a question.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
How does Christopher ree Juillior art graduate.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
Not realize that?
Speaker 4 (13:19):
I mean, I guess money's mine because he also went
to school with Robin Williams.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
I didn't want to come back and do that. They
offered him to do another movie he wanted to do.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
So let's go over. I'm going to go to the
box office performance. You're ready for this, Let's go so.
And we got to break this down.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
And I don't know if they adjusted it for inflation
or anything like that, but I'll tell you, bamavus. Superman
is the one that made the most money, Donna Justice
eighty seven, eight hundred and seventy four million, Man of
Steel six hundred and sixty eight million, Justice Lead six
hundred and fifty eight million.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
I didn't even know it did that well.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Superman Returns three hundred and ninety one million, Superman seventy eight,
three hundred million. I think for today it should have
been a little more. But Superman two one hundred and
ninety million, I think that is in today's money. Superman
three eighty three one hundred million, and the quester piece
thirty seven million. And I remember a question piece. You
k know who was in that, right Lex Lucia Luther's
(14:12):
cousin breaks him out of jail. It was Dougie.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Dougie, Yes, from a pretty he isn't it. I was like,
what I know? So it was pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
It's pretty sad.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Okay, So are you excited but yourself? Do you still
say you wanted Fantastic four more?
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Right?
Speaker 4 (14:28):
If you only see one would be Fantastic four?
Speaker 1 (14:31):
It probably would be who.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Is jumping off? Marvel? Phase six?
Speaker 2 (14:36):
I love and I'm to say about man. I love
wearing Superman shirts.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
I've had like six of them, but they were out. Okay.
I like the new logo.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
I'm a bit on the edge with it. It's gonna
take me a while. It doesn't look like asks and
I know it's it's.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
In the Common Book series. It's not new. It's very old.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
I know that, But for me it's new because I
always wear that.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
All I know is I have the very old Common
Book of with that logo. So if it does one
in the box office, I'm all down for it.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Remember, inspiration for this movie, the Superman movie is from.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
All Star Superman.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
I thought it was James Gun Dog Jeane.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
No, the inspiration for the whole thing is from the
James Gun movie. We'll see how it happens and we'll
get a full review for it at your nerd side
dot com under your nerd Side Reviews.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
All right, Superman, we'll look forward to it. Let's get
into a quick interview.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
We talked to her before, Lauren Tom you know her
from Futurama King of the Hill. She plays CON's wife,
Mines super I never get the name right. You like that,
so Batman Beyond she's the girlfriend. Let's just talk to
her because she's done so much. All Right, we'll go
right back where you get started with something that I
know you're gonna love.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
All right, Le's get the interviewed. All right. I'm I'm
blown away. Do you know how amazed I am? Lauren?
You're with celeb works?
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Oh you're sweet. I love celebrities.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Do you know how long I've been working with them?
For years?
Speaker 3 (15:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Oh my god, for like over eight years. They've been
so any like interviews everything.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Everybody's all funds. Who the hell are you talking to, Lauren? Tom?
I'll make sure right what voice haven't you done?
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (16:08):
You're set?
Speaker 1 (16:09):
But I mean serious, Look at your roster.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
I know about you and TV shows from Friends and
the movies Joy, Luck Club to Supernatural to King to
the Hill.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Do you earn Batman beyond too?
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Right?
Speaker 6 (16:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (16:21):
I was Dana Tan I was. I was his girlfriend
that was always disgruntled.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
So my question, yeah, why were you like that?
Speaker 6 (16:28):
All? He was always stitching me. He would like stand
me up to go save people.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Oh my god, if that's more important? So do you
think they could revive then bring it back to it?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (16:37):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (16:38):
Do you mean Wilfredell I'm sure would be down with it.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right. So here's the question, how
did all this start for you? Did you want to
be an actress?
Speaker 7 (16:45):
You know what?
Speaker 6 (16:45):
I started as a dancer, and then I got the
best advice from all I was in a chorus line
on Broadway and all of my fellow dancers like, you
really should study acting because otherwise you'll be done by
the time you're thirty five.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
Your legs will be out right.
Speaker 6 (16:58):
Bring an athlete, you know, like the athlete you kind
of you know, time out there.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
And then but when you got into the acting, was
it hard for you? Especially being it was especially your
nationality art.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
I mean I'm Latin.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Yeah, I'm a Native American Indian too. I do radio
stuff and all this stuff. I'm very blessed to have it.
And I know it's a different thing. But you had
an up battle, a battle to go uphill, right.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
I had that, and I'm plus I'm five feet tall,
plus I.
Speaker 3 (17:22):
Was super super shy.
Speaker 6 (17:24):
Yeah yeah when back then, and so talking was difficult
for me because dancing you don't have to, right, So
it was like a but I'm really glad that I
pushed through all of that because you know, it's sort
of it first role ever, what was it?
Speaker 7 (17:37):
Oh my gosh, Well, of course, line was my first
first role. The first movie was with Robin Williams.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
It was called a Cadillac Man, Oh my god, comedy.
And they thought they I played a little waitress at
a Chinese restaurant and I was pushing a dim sum cards.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
They didn't have to use an accent, did they They did.
I hate when they do that.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
Well, you know what, my grandmother spoke with a really
thick accent.
Speaker 7 (18:00):
I adored her and loved her, and she was like.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
The most hilarious person on the planet.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
So I kind of found a way to make it
okay for myself because it was a way for me
to keep her alive okay, And I was trying to
be as authentic as possible because you know what, I
get it. You know, it's just a little imbalanced as
far as how many roles out there in the media.
Speaker 7 (18:20):
Have an accent, because I don't. I certainly wouldn't want
to do all my roles with an accent.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
That would be terrible.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
That's typecasting that. So you're probably wondering, I'm with Lauren
Tom right now social media. Everybody wants to follow you
out of this week? What's your social media?
Speaker 6 (18:32):
Have friend Tom nine thousand on Twitter and Instagram and
I just joined threads.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Give me? Isn't it weird? I'm going to say this.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
So I took the threads and I copied my my Instagram,
my Instagram threads.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
I copied it, and everybody starts following me already. How
do you get to I didn't look.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
I think it's automatic.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
Yeah, year, it's so balad.
Speaker 3 (18:54):
I don't even get it.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
Okay, So after that, how did you get to the
voice work?
Speaker 7 (18:59):
I mean just audition for King of the Hill was
my first one. Yeah, it's just like any other audition.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
It's just it's just like I'm taking my finger right
now before people come, I'm pointing the amount of stuff.
Speaker 1 (19:09):
Famn beyond. What's this one?
Speaker 3 (19:11):
That's that's American Dragon?
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Oh okay, g I Joe, No.
Speaker 7 (19:17):
I think I forgot Avatar.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Maybe it's the Proud Family. I knew that, and that's
teen Titan.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
Ye.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
King of the Hill, you were Supernoopans yep, and you
were from Futurama.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
That is next door?
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Is that door? Is it heard there too or is
that a different.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
That's a different, that's the same.
Speaker 7 (19:37):
Oh, that's like a Scooby Doo movie.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
And that's.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
That.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
I think that's kim possible. Yes, damn, I'm good.
Speaker 6 (19:45):
Damn you better than I remember half the things.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
I'm so honored to be sitting here. I'm gonna let
you get back to the andle because there's people waiting
for you. I love you being with me, Laurid Tom.
And if I don't get a chance to get up
on SoundCloud, you can always hear it here. It's everywhere
on social media or it's always at your nerd side
dot com.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
All the past interviews and we got some comic cons
coming up. Oh I want to give them collugs real fast.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
And get up on the way way Wait real quickly.
Is this the same Lauren Tom that's been on King
of the Hill.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
Yeah, I just said that. I just said that.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
Yes, Okay, I'm also.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
I mean, you know, some people are not auditories, so
maybe they need to hear it again.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Yeah, did like twenty or thirty characters. And she's really
really nice to us. All right, if you ever want
to meet the artist and see them, get them autographed
over that it's cool. If you go to a con,
comic con and I'm not just seeing Comic Con San
Diego one of the best ones that I've been to.
There's actually a few of them. And if your local
around the Bay, are'a gonna.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Throw this out to you.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Stockton cond is happening in July twelfth and thirteenth. We
will be out there. They approved our passes Galaxy Con.
It's so weird. The press manager and the owner of
the Galaxy Con goes. I need you to get your
press credentials in so you're ready when you get there.
August fifteenth and sixteen, it's happening in San Jose and
then sac Anime and Sacramento August twenty nine, which we're
going to deal. But Galaxy KHN and Stockton Con is
(21:03):
where we get most of our interviews. I just walk around,
just start talking to everyone, so we'll see what happens there.
Arnhart our last thing for a rep of the show.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
I want to talk about. Earnhart just came out scale
one to ten or you like, you don't like it?
What did you think of it so far?
Speaker 3 (21:17):
Well, what's your thoughts? First?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
I thought it rolled out of the gate kind of slow,
a little slow, and then it picked up.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
Uh what part was slow for you?
Speaker 1 (21:25):
It just it's kind of dragged down a little bit
for her getting stuff together. But they're building the story.
I liked it, Like, yeah, but he's her AI.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
And I'm doing We're doing, we are doing straight up.
If you don't want this, we are going to give
you ruined the story and everything like that.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
Now here's the thing is for for the new AI
Natalie which was in the comic book was really great.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
The actress is doing amazing.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
The cast is well known, some of them from even
the Broadway show Hamilton Anthony Ramos.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
I think the actors are doing really good. But there
has been some controversy.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
You get read it on comments media where some parents,
even though this is slated for eleven and older, are
uncomfortable for one of the actors in this series.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
And who do you think that is?
Speaker 1 (22:12):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Tell me, well, well, we watch iron Heart together and
there's someone who's a little bit more flamboyant. So a
character who one's oh, I know he's from his crew. Yes,
a slug, right, isn't a slug?
Speaker 1 (22:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (22:26):
I'll figure that out in a minute. But so go.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
Ahead, no, no for as you're saying, what are you saying?
Speaker 4 (22:31):
No? I just I was just shocked when I read that,
and I was like, Wow, you know you're watching iron Heart.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
You don't see too.
Speaker 4 (22:39):
Many brilliant females who are at mit black who come
from a Losos economic area. So family lives in a
great place, but money is tight, and then they're going
on other things. I just it just kind of blew
my mind away. How black people are not open about
(23:00):
different things.
Speaker 1 (23:01):
All right, that's all.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
So five things I think Arnhardt is already doing right
and three things I hope they get better in the
final episodes because we've got three episodes left.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
That's it. There's only six episodes for this.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
Yeah, so three just came out.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
And are you gonna put the spoiler about a searching
mister Slaine in the TV series?
Speaker 1 (23:17):
What did you like about that new edition mister slang?
Which one is that, Oh, let me get through this
and I'll hit all that go for it?
Speaker 2 (23:23):
I know. So number one, they're they're right. Putting Rary
Williams in tough spots made it seem realistic, not this
like Tony Stark is gonna give me all this money
and take care of me stuff at that, Like she
needs money, she got kicked out of school. She didn't
do this right. Oh, she's gonna go there, you know.
Oh my god, she's trying to get all this. I
don't want to get so much into it. I am
(23:45):
going to ruin it for you. But everything that happened
in the third episode of her trying to find out
what happened perfect?
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Do you agree?
Speaker 6 (23:52):
Good? No?
Speaker 1 (23:53):
I mean it's.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Talking about Rary's growth as a person, right, Like, just
because you're a genius doesn't mean you get it all together. Right,
there is a lot of insecurities you're gonna deal with
some PTSD.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
This goes into original backstory.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Because a lot of people think that she's following the
legacy of Iron Man, but actually it's Gary, her stepdad.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Yeah you had a mine of an.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Aviator, but had his own automobile difference, but he knew
how to fix things were broken. And the thing is
about re reach. She knows how to do problem solved,
but because she doesn't collaborate, she is so isolated because
there's so many insecurities. That's where they becomes some problems.
Because yeah, Reread's back in Chicago not to attend University
of Chicago.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
She gets kicked out of MIT.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
Yeah, number two. What they're going to write making the
Hood a complicated villain. The Hood is the number one
villain here and this guy is Parker Robbins his code.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
You're ready for this. He uses his.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Garment to take from the rich and provide operatinges to
the poor. This is what he says, but he isn't.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
There is a higher force that is well evil.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Evil right, It's it's dark magic, right, so I already
know it's kind of like a spin on Black Magic.
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Right.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
I know who it is, but I don't want to
name it or why not because I don't want to
ruin it for people.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
What I'm just so curious and I will make them
want to watch it more.
Speaker 1 (25:13):
Same Scensto not Cinnest. Now I forgot his name.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Well, okay, I'll let you google that.
Speaker 4 (25:18):
But also that goes into family dynamics, right, So Reary's
mom talks about Natalie's brothers involved talking about the importance
sometimes of something you know, really like it's new or precious,
Like don't you have this yellow teddy bear? I mean,
excuse me, Bunny in your bedroom that you don't want
what's your bunny's name, Bunny? Okay, they don't want to
(25:39):
touch because it means a lot to you. Right, you
guys spoiled something? What do you think about the tech realism?
Speaker 1 (25:48):
All right, hold on, let me do the next one, right.
Number three, what they.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Do definitely is into less.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Isn't it differentiing Chicago from other MCU cities.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
It's about fricking time.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
However, they feel most of this in Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Yeah, well, it's just nice to say we're not in
New York anymore.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
No, it's good.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
Dark tower Chicago is be able to I just came
from Chicago. Yeah, please don't show that other tower that's
in Chicago. But otherwise it's great. And the Obama I'm
wondering if they're gonna show his Obama library.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
We're there, and guess what.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
One of the cast, Jared Merrill, who goes by she They,
is also.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Born in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
And this is where a lot of people have issues
with the actress internetial we know, drug superstar, performer, recording artists,
podcast hosts, and modeled but also from Chicago too.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Number four, what they get right, give me ruy a
unique co pilot. Well, she's creating Natalie and that's I'm
not even break down what it stands for, but it's
one of her best friends. She's the AI. Her best
friend is a I. I am so supportive of this.
It adds so much to the story. It's fantastic. You
(27:01):
gotta watch it because it's good. Have her best friend
who passed away and was murdered in front of her.
He hers or AI, So that's kind of cool. Next one,
number five, w's right having Joe McGillicutty be a legacy
character and Joe McGillicutty is Ezekiel Stan the son.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
Of Iron Monger. Yeah. I love this guy and I
didn't even know it was the actor from Solo. I
was blown.
Speaker 3 (27:25):
So he's Iron Monger.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
No, he's a son of Iron Iron Manga.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Oh yes, yes, yes, no, I know he well, so
it shows what a great actor and how Solo is
a terrible script. So yeah, it took a while because
he's this very insecure guy who doesn't want to be
anything like his dad.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
But in Solo he's his cocky guy.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
So he does a really good job and they really
developed I will say this, they do.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
He was a great Dorg smart. He's a do no
no no.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
But but don't you think, like you feel the energy
of Rerea with him.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
I wouldn't mind them making a since you got to
see the show. But he's got that huge area. I mean,
like she should be park the ron ouphit there instead
of her Bomb's place, destroyer house.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
They should be working together, which will probably happen. You
never know.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
No, you feel that energy, So that's something that's doing good.
But the while there's all these great things, the technology
being in Chicago, the diversity of the crew, like you
could see some people who want to do what do
they say? I want to you know, some of the
heavies on. There are two female twins I believe, if
I'm not mistaken, the blood siblings. But the pace is
(28:34):
kind of slow.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
Don't you agree?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
That's what I said? Yes, yes it is. That's why
sometimes I'm like, uh, sometimes, Well that leads up to
three things that I think that they need to do better.
Number One, the Hood supporting crew. They're okay, but they're
like they're not really, I don't know. I wish they
add more villainous powers behind them and are.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
Building your face up and killing It's not one.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Well, Arnhart needs to do a better jobs them out,
especially with Josh gone.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Do you know what I mean? Now the brother's gone,
they need to get more up there.
Speaker 3 (29:06):
Oh wait, not John, you mean the cousin John Josh.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
I thought it was Josh.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
I thought it was John and is a cousin, not
a brother.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
I thought it was his brother cousin.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
That's homosypia.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Well do you know it's only getting like a three
point six stars, So let's find out. So okay, which,
so you want them to have superpower, so you don't
want to make it realistic.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
I want to know more about them, why they're doing this.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Well, cousin John found Parker Hobbins, Robin excuse me, the
hood in a bad situation. So he's just covering for
his cousin. That's played by Manny Montana. Right, we already
talked about Jared Merrow, who plays Slug, who's very techy savvy.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
I mean they broke into high security thing.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
I don't know what superpower that is, but I think
you have a lot of problems with search and technology.
You would want that as well. The Blood siblings, I
mean it's their muscle right, that's who they are for
those characters that are in there. But do you like
Landon Do you remember who Landonness was played by Harper Anthony.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
You gotta tell me which one he does.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
He's the young kid with the road flyer Wheelie that
just is just a great salesman off the streets.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Oh that kid.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yeah, he's all right, Yes, he's just he's in he's
just an extra character.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah. And then clown play.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Probably later on going to have like, oh that's a
little kid that grew up and now he's the new
Iron Man or something.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
Later on they will.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
Be a CFO. Just be a CFO.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
But Sonya Dennis who plays the clown, she does explosives.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
You don't like her relationship. She's she's a scientist.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
All right.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
They just need to do more or build me up
more with them.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
It's just they just like, Yeah, they're there and partying
and the two girls fighting.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Everyone's all right, Okay, so you don't think there's enough action.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
No. Number two.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
What they need to do better is the evil villain teases.
They show his back getting more cracks and scales, and
they talk about it. There's plenty of rumors who the
Hoods Master is and I'm eighty nine percent now who
it is because I read the comic book. But they
just need to do better than that, and that leads
to number three needs to be better than in Nedville
(31:07):
final fight. So with all this going like this, they
have to have a fight that is just unbelievable that
is going to you know, just leave something that is like,
oh my god, oh my god. And it's Mefesteo if
you guys want to know, I think it's going to
be Methestel.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
Yeah, the hook came up in the Hood number one
in two thousand and two. But here's my question, so
how does this wrap up Phase five of Marvel? This
is the last connection of Marvel?
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Phase five?
Speaker 4 (31:38):
What do you think because we don't hear about multiverses, right,
we're not hearing and we haven't seen any other casting
from other.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Crew members from other MC How's this the end?
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Well?
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I have a feeling that since we have the new Avengers,
where were the Thunderbolts.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
They have their own team and we've got Captain America,
who's the what's his name? I keep forgetting his old name,
Hawkeye hawk Man.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
No, he's a Hawkman's he flies what's his name, the
new Dulcan Falcon.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
See, I call him Captain America so much as you want.
On Disneyland, I forgot he's Falcon.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
That Falcon has his own Avengers too, And they were
saying that that she's probably gonna be drafted into the
original Avengers, whoever they are.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
I think you're thinking of if you follow the comic books,
you're thinking about the young Avengers.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
I mean, she's even with Spider Man.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
They're making that Dad is actually coming out.
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Well, well, I.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
Don't know it's not unlessen in Phase six, and Phase
six goes from twenty twenty five to twenty twenty six.
But if you think about it, this is where, if anything,
I think Ironheart brings science and power and magic or sorcery.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
This is where they all collide.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Right.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
Notice you remember she got a claw from his hood,
so she'll to get after she realizes all the bad
things she's done.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Remember Memphisto since you brought them up.
Speaker 4 (33:05):
And Darmarmu was also connected with doctor Strange, and that.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Is remember that.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Agatha.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Well that's interesting, and Vision Quest is coming up in
Disney plus a Marvel PHASEX.
Speaker 1 (33:22):
I don't know. We can only throw you the stuff
when you don't e speculate. I don't know. I just
read stuff and try to get what I can. All right.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Remember a lot of stuff coming out in the theaters,
a lot of comic cons coming up. If you need
a full list of everything that's happening or what's going on,
it's always clicked away your nerd side dot com.
Speaker 3 (33:39):
And then do you look at a hood number one?
I know I'm meant to wrap do, but guess what
it's darmamu who's connected to the hood?
Speaker 1 (33:46):
All right, you got to wrap it up. Thank you guys.
You joined us. Ran long today, but I apologize. There's
a lot to cover. If you need anything reaches on
social media
Speaker 2 (33:53):
At your nerd side, remember that it's always at your
nerd side, all right, talk to you later, my friends,
